WOUNDING Description of WILLIAM MURRELL, a native of Gaston, Norfolk, charged with nisht poaching and wounding Welter Hunt, gamekeeper to Lord Walsingham, on the moiuing of the 28ih ultimo : he is abuut 25 years of age, 6 feet 1 inch high, stout made, fresh complexion, sandy hair { inclined to curl behind), small whiskers, and brown eyes; dressed in a drabbet frock coat, cord trousers, black chummy hat, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Inspector Watson, Walton, Norfolk, or to Police Constable Crisp, Caston, who holds a warrant for bis apprehension.— bow- street, January G. Ab> ut 7 pm. on the 16th instant: Anne Houghton, 12 years of age, daughter of William Houghton, farm bailiff, of Oriel), wes murdered by some person or persons, at present unknown, during'the absence of the family. At the same time „ silver Geneva Watch, No. 424, white silver dial, with gold centre, and yellow figures in old English, the spring which fastens the back case is weak, and a slight shake will cause the case to fly opeD, was stolen from a set of drawers in the house. A. reward of £ 100, that is to say, £ 50 by Her Majesty's Government and £ 50 by Mr. Joseph Roper, of Ackhurst Hall, will be paid to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the actual murderer ot the deceased. Description of an Italian seaman, named CARLO GRELOTTI, charged with dangerously wouuding two other foreign seamen, at a boarding- house in Mary Ann- street, Cardiff, on the evening of the 24th instant: he is about 23 years of age, 6 teet 7 or 8 inches higb, dark complexion, black curly hair, small blacK moustache ; dressed in black ^ at and trousers, drab waistcoat, soft black American bat, black tie, elastic side boots, and red shirt, speaks English well, is called amongst his associates ' CHARLEY,' and is most likely to be found at some Italian boarding- house for seamen, 0r on board an Italian ship. Information to be given to Superintendent sheppard, Police Office, Wincanton, Somerset,— Bow- urea, January 6, Stolen from the person of a gentleman in Bolton, about g. 30 p. m. the 31st ultimo: a silver lever Watch, maker Samuel Greenhaugh, 140 Higher Bridge- street, Bolton, No. £ 1 reward will he paid on recovery of the property d conviction ot the offender or offenders. During: the night of the 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of the Revd. J Kenrick, of Caterham, was broken and entered, and stolen therein ; a plated Tea Pot; a plated Toss' Rack ; a silver Top off Mustard Pol; a pair of lady's elastic side Boots ; a pair of lace up Boots ; a pair of men's low Shoes; two lsdv's odd Boots, the right a button, and the left a lace up ; about 16 lbs. of roast Beef; 6 lbs. of boiled Ham ; and part of a Plum Pudding. Between 7 and 9 p. m. on the 1st instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Edward Simmons, Broxbourne, was broken and entered through a bedroom window, atd there was stolen then in : 1 diamonl and ruby half hoop Ring. 1 emerald and pearl Ring. 2 gold Bracelets, one set with emeralds, the other with amethyst 1 large gold Brooch, with portrait and amethyst spray on the top. 1 mourning Brooch. 1 coralline Necklace. 1 gold ditto. 1 pearl Cotnb, with Head- dress to n atch. 2 gold Pins. 1 leather Dressing Bag, the fillings left, and the silver mountings stolen. 2 dozen silver Forks and Spoons, some marked ' R. During the night of the 3rd instant the dwelling- house of Mr. Alexander Clegharn, London- road, Romford, Essex, was broken and tntered, and the following property stolen there in : a double- breasted blue pilot Overcoat, with black bone buttons, and a little inoih eaten on the back ; also a paisley Shawl with white middle. Stolen by means of housebreaking from a dwelling- housein East- street, Thornhill. in the county of Dumfries, on the 2nd instant : a pine work Box, painted rosewood colour, ci ntaining an old fashioned dark morocco pocket Book, inside of wt. icli was one £ 5 Note, five £ 1 Notes nine Sovereigns, two Half Sovereigns, 60s. in Silver, 2s 6d in Copper, a Cheque of the British Linen Company's Bank, for £ 100, dated Thornhill, 23rd November, 1868, two old silver Coins, about the sizs of a sixpence, very thin, two old silver Coins, abou!; the size of a shilling, very thin, t « o old copper Coins, very small, the box and cheque were found lying near the house. Stolen from the Corporation Meadows, Nichells Green, Birmingham, on the 31st ultimo 2 black horse Ponies, 12 and 14 bends high, one aged, the other 4 years old ; aUn, a brown horse Pony, wiih white hind fetlock, about 14 hands hich, last 6een heing driven along the Oldbury- road, near Smeth- wick, by three youths. Any person giving iutormation to the Foreman of the Corporation Works, Saltley, or to the Detective Office, Birmingham, shall be rewarded for their trouble.— Bom-' lreet, January 8. * Stolen from a field at Highgate Common, in the parish of Enville, on tho night of the 3lst ultimo, a dark grey Mare, about 15 bands hii- h, with a bang tail, and in good condition, the property of Mr. William Whitehouse, farmer. Stolen on the night of the 4th or morning of the 5th inst., from a field at Luton, a ewe teg Sheep, Gloucester breed, in good condition, with ruddle mark be> ween the shoulders. Stolen on the 1 G'h ultimo, from a field at the parish of Darenth, Kent, a dark buy Mare, 15 hands higb, about 8 years old, 1ms been blistered across the loins, which has caused the hair to come off, near bind foot white, and very straight on her legs. Information to be given to Superintendent Brandon, Police Station, Dartford, Kent. — Bow- ttreet, January 6. Found at Abbotstone, on Ihe 21st ultimo, and supposed to have bee-: stolen ; a brown cob Pony, 5 years old, about lo hands high, black legs, mane and tail, white star on forehead, tail appears to have been cut off, above the hocks, in fair con- dition, and appears to be active. Information to be given to Superintendent Everitt, Hants Constabulary, Winchester, or to Sergeant Alexander, Alresford, Hants.— Bo s- street, Jan. 1. Found straying on the 20th ultimo, at the parish of Sutton- at Hone, Kent, and supposed to have been stolen, a light chesnut Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, small star on forehead, b ith hind feet white, broken knees, rough mane and tail, no shoes on fore f.' Stolen on the 22nd ultimo, two Ponies, one a grey, 4 years old, 12 hands 2 inches high, marked with ' C. a » d M.' on right side, lately clipped, tail cut short: the other a dark brown, 14 hands 2 inchcs high, 6 years old, clipped, and tail cut short: the following person had charge of them from Cheltenham to Bristol, WILLIAM BAKER, from 45 to 60 years of age. 5 ft. 10 iiciits high, thin beard, aud light complexion. Whoever shall give such information as will lead to the recovery of ihe Pontes, and the apprehension ot the offender or iffend is shall receive £ 5 reward on application to Superimendrnt Day, Police Court, Cheltenham.— Bow- street, January 1. Description of a man who is charged with stealiug a silver Geneva Watch aud silver Guard ( supposed to belong to Hull) he is a shoemaker, and sometimes cuts shoemaker's tools, he is 40 or 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, ( shaved off ) sl- nder figure, had travelling with him his daughter, about 10 years of age ; the property has been recovered. GEORGE WICKER, alias HICKER, a weaver, 27 years of ai » e, 5 feet 7 inch> s high, brown hair, whiskers shaved off', fresh complexion, and is well made ; dressed in dark mixture coat, light cord trousers and waistcoat, old tamo'shanter hat, • nd lace- up shoes; he may seek work as a bricklayer's labourer. ALFRED RAYNER, alias TOTTS, a labourer, 24 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches hi « h, brown hair, whiskers shaved off, and freBh complexion ; supposed dressed in a blue pilot jacket, dark cord trousers, and black billycock hat. Absconded from Malmesbury on the 22nd ultimo, charged with stealing two pairs of Boots, a pair of elastic sides, nearly- new fronts, imitation laceup, the other pair lace- up, nailed, and much worn ; and a pair of Leggiugs ( since recovered), PHILIP COOK, a native of Malmesbury, abuut 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, full dark features, downcast look, has been in the army, and dressed in a short slop or fastian jacket, moleskin trousers, and bowler hat. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Woodman, Malmesbury, Wiltshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 4. years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stout built, fresh co9>' plexioD, coarse features, light brown hair, no whiskers ; iteti^ in black cloth coat, pockets in Bkirts, light cord trousers, Mais'* billycock hat, and strong lace- up boo'is, is a native ol Ellesmere Cross, Shropshire, and has worked in the coal pit at chirK and as a farm servant at Bowas, near Wrexham, Penley, ad'* other places. A man of the following description is going about cou>' mitting robberies of Money, & c., from bedrooms at house3 where lodgers aie taken ; he engages lodgit gs, then asks to be allowed to go upstairs to wash himself, and as soon aaleftaloJJ ® he robs the place and decamps ; he is charged with stealing, o" the 6th instant, the sum of £ 6, the property of Mrs. Bacon, o( Colchester : he is about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inch*'' high, light complexion, blue eyes, slight cast in ( suppose^) right eye ; dressed in black silk hat, black cloth frock with black silk faciDgs, blue mixture trousers, spring- sid3 boots, black silk tie with green flowers, gold pin with glass centre, a ring ou his finger, and carries a white- handled umbrella. Information to be given to Head Constable Downes Town Hall, Colchester.— Boir- itreet, January 8. Absconded from the Yorkshire Catholic Reformatory School, near Market Weighton, about 9 p. m. on the 5th iust. '• MARK CARR, of Eldon place, Birkenhead, 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh oomplexion, brown hair, giey eyes, and two blue spots on back of each hand • snd JAMES McWILLlAMS, alias COSGROVE, of Clarence- lane, Devon- port, 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fiesh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, freckled, and anchor on back of left baud; he » as previously in a military school for soldiers' childen in London ; they were band boys, and wore the dress, which con- sists of a cord suit fitting very tight, boundwithred braid, and a cap with French peak, the shirt, waistcoat, snd trousers are stamped ' Yorkshire Catholic Reformatory School' in ink. There is a white Hat, an old verge Watch, and Waistcoat missing. They are tailors. £ 2 reward will be paid for their apprehension. Information to be given to the Director ot the Yorkshire Catholic Reformatory School, near Market Weighton, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, January 8. Description! of THOMAS HUXLEY, charged with embezzlement whilst secretary of a friendly society: he is about 44 years of aje, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light brown whiskers meeting under the chin, round shoulders, stoops, when walking, and sprawl feet; dressed in light cord trousers, black cloth shooting coat and vest, stiff billycock hat, aud dark blue cloth overcoat; lias latterly gone about hawking tripe and trotters. Has a brother employed on government works at Portsmouth. Information to be given to Superintendent Williams, Detective Department, Town Hall, Salford, Lanca- shire.— Bou> street, January 8. Description of THOMAS DUNNING, chaiged with embezzlement on the 2nd instant : he is described as being 23 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, light hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, thiu Imitd, and sharp features ; either dressed as baker'* van man, or carter, or in black cloth shooting coat, vest, and trousers. His father is a shopkeeper at Sandbach, Cheshire ; nas a brother a waiter in a public house or hotel at Whitchurch. Shropshire. Information to be given to Super- intendent Williams, Detective Department, Town Hall, salford, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Januar// 8. Absconded on the 2nd instant, chaiged with embezzling several sums of money, the property of Mr. Young, his em- ployer : JAMES COX from 26 to 30 years of age, about 5 ft 7 or 8 inches high, light complexion, light hair, very little light whiskers, very much disfigured on left side of face, the mouth being drawn ou that side Irom a burn, and the left hand also contracted from a buru ; generally dresses in light clothes. By a man who lodged at the house one night, about 40 years of age, about 6 feet 9 inches high, rather slender, dark hair turning grey, slight whiskers at the sides of his face curled inwards, fresh complexion, sharp features, long nose ( red as if addicted to drink), thin lips, sup- posed to have a slight moustache, and small grey eyes ; dressed in cord trousers, patched at the seat, cord set the wrong way, black cloth vest, no collar, buttons up to the throat, black cloth coat, common Bteel albert chain in front of his vest, black and white small plaid neckscarf; may have on the stolen boots and hat, or he may have on a soft billycock hat.
