Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the ye> a « a requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W, D. C. *.* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As HO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Amg, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. Kelk, has been apprehended at Wombwell Main, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, October 6. Description of CHARLES SEILER, who has absconded, chained with burglary and attempt to murder at Notting Hill on the 21st inst. ; 20 years of age, 6 ft. 6 in. high, fresh com- plexion ( rather pale), dark hair, no whiskers oi beard, cupped In back of neck, ' S. or Sarah Price,' in blue Indian ink, on ° ne arm, supposed right, and dressed in black frock coat and vest, soldier's trousers with stripe cut out, old side- spring hoots, and brown cloth cap with peak of same material ; be w » s invalided from the 69th Regt. about a month ago from Gosport, in the name of CHARLES SMITH, and has his Discharge with him in that, name : was last seen at Alperton, near Harrow, Middlesex, at 6 a. m. on tlis 21st instant, where he obtained the said side- spiug boots and cap which he may ® ow be wearing. Stolen about 7* 16 p. m. on the 25th instant, from the person of a gentleman at Ruthin Railway Station : a gold Watch, engine turned cases, go'd dial, stops and seconds, engraved ' Mr. John Jones, Tremynta, Bala.' Also stolen on the same day from Pontylyn, near Ruthin : a pair of blucher Boots, large size, nearly new, with double soles ; supposed by tramps. Supposed to have been stolen, on the 18th instant, from a lady travelling in a first class carriage of the Scotch express between Darlington and Thirsk, or whilst waiting at the Thirsk Station, a lady's gold Watch, horizontal movement, enamel dial, maker Groche, No. 8364, bad attached a long dark hair Chain, with pearl settings, clasp a serpent's head in pearls, and a common Watch- key. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender and recovery of the watch and chain. On the morning of the 1st instant, about 2 a. m., a hay 8" ed, at Glasfryn Farm, near Harlech, was discovered to be on " re, where a large quantity of Hay and Corn in Straw, a Cart, and other articles were consumed. Between 11 p. m. on the 29 h and 6 a. m. on the 30th ult., the house of Mrs. Owen, of Saithdarn, was broken into, and an old pair of light brown Trousers, with a patch on one knee, stolen therein. Further information respecting THOMAS STREETS, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 21st ultimo, for burglary : he has worked at Crich for a frame smith, also at Alfreton, and Chesterfield ; he was last seen in Birmingham. Description of three tramps charged with breaking into a house at Butterwick on the morning of the 28' h ult., and a grocer's shop at Burnham on the night of the 29th ult., and stealing about one stone of Flour, three loaves of Bread, half a stone of Bacon, about a yard and a half of harden Towelling, a white Cloth about one yaid square, twelve pounds of 4d. and 4Jd. Sugar, three quarters of a pound o' Tobacco in ounces and half ounces, wrapped up in obi newspaper; two pairs of women's Stockings, new, one | air white and the other grey ; a piece of Cheese, soma knotts of Tape, and Bootlaces, the pro- perty of Mary Johnson and E. Mawmell. Two of the men are about 20 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high ; dressed in dirty white slops, dirty fustian or cord trousers, and caps ; one of them has an abscess on his thigh, his trousers are open down the side seam and tied up wirh tape; the other man is about 26 years of age, 6 ft. 8 ins. high, rather stoutly built, and dressed in a black rough hairy overcoat, cord trousers, and cap, or an old Btraw hat. Supposed stolen on the 7th instant, from a field at Hayton, a dark brown Pony, about 14 hands high, black mane, short switch tail, very old, and in good condition, the property of Mr. Richard Coston, farmer. Information to be given to Superintendent Baxter, Church Stretton, or to Police Constable Purchase, Sandpits, Ludlow, Salop.— Bow- street, September 28. Drscrip'ion of RICHARD PERRY, alias RED DICK, who is charged with stealing the bay roan Horse from Rock- savage Marsh, on the 25th July last, as advertised in the Police Gazette. The Horse is now in possession of the police, having been found sold by him at Hulton, in Lancashire. About 24 years of as'e, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slender build, long thin features, sandy hair and thin sandy whiskers ; supposed to be dressed in brown velveteen jacket, black cloth trousers, blue and white striped cotton shirt, clogs, and brown velveteen cap with peak, all far worn. May be found about collieries, canals, & c., amongst horses, or in some low public or beer house. He is well knowu to most of the carters ou the road leading from the Collieries, in Lancashire, to Salford and Manchester ; has been previously convicted for horse stealing in Cheshire, and of various offences in Lancashire. £ 1 reward will be given for such information as will lead to liis apprehension, on applica- tion to Superintendent Egerton, Police Station, Runcorn, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 28. Supposed stolen from Raskelfe, nenr Easingwold, on the 20th instant, a daik red roan Bullock. 18 months old. LARCSOTTANtt EMBEZZLEMENT JOHN CUNDALL, alias JAMES WATKINSON or WATKINS, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 30ih ult., f. r stealing Linen, has been apprehended at Acaston Malbras, near York.— titnr- street, October 5. Further information respecting tbe Irishman advertised in the Police Gazette of the 28ih ultimo, for stealing in a lodging house at Bridgnorth : lie is further charge I with stealing, on the 264h ultimo, from the Rose and Crown beershop, Bridg- north, the property of Mrs Phillips, the landlady, a pair of Trousers, a Shirt, a pair of Boots, and a pair of Slippers, which have been recovered, having been sold by him iu Bridgnorth. He travels about the country, calling at farmhouses, buying horsehair and old clothes from the farm servants, and sleeping in the buildings at night, only going into towns when he has a load, which he always carries in a bag over his shoulder, and wl en the bag is empty he ties it up in a plaid cotton handker- chief. It is supposed that the scars will be off his check by this time, and he is likely to have changed the jimcrow hat, as it was too large for him. He is very quiet in his manner when Speaking:.
