Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen prsperty, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNA3Y, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, MiiSJIaever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the I'OLICE GAZETTE, a?! Fitters addressed to the Editor Ginat 5se prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from tbe regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. Sullivan, was burglariously entered, and the following property Btolen therein : an agate Bracelet, set in silver ; two pairs of gold Bracelets, with green stones; two pairs of mosaic Bracelets ; two pairs of gold Bracelets ; a garnet Brooch ; a shell Bracelet; alight- coloured tortoiseshell Bracelet; a coral Brooch ; two emerald Bracelets, set in gold and pearls, with a gold chain connecting tliern ; a large carbuncle Stone set as a brooch ; two pearl Brooches ; a gold Chain ; an Oxford grey mixture Overcoat, lined with sable fur; a brown cloth Overcoat ; and a Stick, with silver band near the handle. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as may lead to the apprehension and i conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Description of a man, charged with the murder of Patrick Desmond, at the Navy Arms public- house, King- street, Dept- ford, on the 23rd instant: he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout built, fair hair and complexion, no whiskers, tuft on chin, pale face, high cheek boneB, flat turn- up nose, down- CdBt look, swaggering gait, and has a peculiar mode of raising his right forearm to the level of his elbow, when walking; dressed in white due. k jscket and trousers, dark vest, black or blue worked cap, with peak of same and check band, militia bluchers. Also, on the evening of the 1,7th instant, from the person of a gentleman, a silver Geneva Watch, with small seconds hand, maker Mouline, Geneve, No. 6241. By a female about 28 years of age, 6 teet 5 inches high, stout built ; dressed in black silk dress and mantle, dark bonnet, with blue ribbon. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Compton, Police Station, Margate.— Bow- street, August 24. BURGLARY ANB MOUSE BREAKING. ' During: the. niglit of the 27tli, or early on the morning of the 28th instant, the general offices of the Staveley Coal and jtron Company were entered, and the following Mathematical Between 9 and 12 a. m., on the 26th instant, the dwelling- house of James Mole, of the parish of Witlington, near Here- ford, was broken into, and about £ 12 l- 3s. in Gold and S lver, a Prayer Book, and a Hymn Book | stoIen therein. A man of the following description is strongly suspected, who was seen in the neighbourhood at the time of the robbery, supposed to go by the name of CHARLIE ; ha is about 34 or 35 years of age, 6 feet 9 inches high, light hair and whiskers ; dressed in a dark monkey jacket, moleskin trousers, no vest, red scarf with black spots round neck, lightly nailed boots with elastic sides and tips on heels, apd rough cap with peak, tied in front above the peak with ribbon from the sides ; was seen with the books in his possession shortly after the robbery had been committed. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Wilson, Shire- hall, Hereford.— Bow- street, August 31. Between 0 a. m. and 6 n. m. on the 26th instant, the house of WILLIAM GODFREY, of Rooks Hill, in the parish of Seal, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therein : a grey cloth Overcoat, two pockets outside and one inside ; a black cloth Coat, Vest, and Trousers, nearly new ; a new deer stalker Hat ; a pair of Boots, kid tops, brass eyelets ; two white cotton Shirts, two pairs of cotton Stockings, a pair of Braces, and a quantity of Provisions. Information to be given to Superintendens Colman, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent.— Bow- street, August 31. Further information respecting the burglary at Pontyper- chill, Bettws, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 17th instant: a tramp was begging at the house the previous day, and was afterwards seen wearing a pair of boots, supposed to be those stolen : about 30 years of age, middle size, has a deformed hand, and is a Welshman ; wore a light frock coat with long skirts and lar^ e pockets ; he is supposed to be making for Cardiganshire or South Wales, and sells tracts or songs about the country. Informal ion to be given to Police Constable Lloyd, Tregynon, Berriew, or at the Chief Con- stable's Officc, Newtown, Montgomeryshire.— Bow U., Aug. 28. During the night of the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Richard Robertson, farmer, the Rowe, in the parish of Swynnerton, was broken and entered, and the following pro- perty stolen therein : a black cloth Overcoat, pockets on each side, one outside loft breast, one inside right bre. iit, has been recently turned, and bound with black braid ; a yellow silk Pocket handkerchief, pattern of ivy leaf with three yellow spots upon each leaf; a pair of plain silver plated Sugar Tongs; a dark meerschaum Pipe, with amber Mouthpiece, and dark green Case to match ; a leather powder flask Strap ; a small quantity of Tobacco, some Bread and Ham. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Sergeant Macrory, Eccleshall; to Police Constable Shaw, Standon ; or at any Police Station in the county of Stafford.— Bow- strt et, August 28. During the night of the 24th instant St. Leonard's House, Clewer, the residence of Sir Edward Sullivan, was bur- glariously entered and a black and grev mixture Overcoat lined with red and grey plaid ; a stick with, silver band round near the top, engraved ' Sir H. Sullivan ;' and an alpaca Umbrella, stolen therein. Iuforanation to be given to Inspector Reece, Clewer, Windsor.— Bow- streel, August 28. Between 10 p. m. and 6 a. m. on the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of John Kendall, of the parish of Bishop's Caundle, was entered, and the following property stolen therein : £ 4 7s. in Silver, one Sovereign, and £ 1 worth of Postage Stamp3. Information to be given to Superintendent Watts, Dorset Constabulary, Sherborne— Bow- ifreet, Aug. 26. Description of the two tramps advertised in the Police Gazette of the 15th instant, charged with breaking into the vicarage at Trefeglwys, who have been apprehended in Brecon, and- the stolen property recovered. They are committed to take their trial at the next quarter sessions to be holden at Welshpool. THOMAS SULLIVAN, a sailor, says that he is a native of Dublin, and a runaway from the ship ' Mary Ann.' of Boston, is 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, sallow com- plexion, light hair cut short, and grey eyes, two small stars, two crosses, and a ring on the third and fourth fingers of xeft hand, a star on left arm, and a star on right hand ; dressed in an old brown cloth coat, blue striped slop, plaid woollen trousers, and black cap with French peak; and JOHN MACDONALD. a ship carpenter, says he belongs to Athol- street, Liverpool, of Irish parents, is 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark brown hair cut short, old dirty moleskin trousers, brown cap, and old cossack boots. They are sup- posed to have been recently discharged from some prison, or to have absconded from a reformatory school. Information to be given to Police Constable Pearson, Caersws, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, August 24. Between 11 a. m. and 9 30 p. m. on the 19th instant, a dwelling- house in Rochdale was feloniously entered, during the temporary absence of the family, and the following property stolen : 8 silver table Spoons, fiddle pattern, crest— a Goat. 1 silver sugar Spoon. 1 sauce Ladle, king's pattern. 12 large silver Forks, fiddle pattern, crest— a Goat. 5 dessert Spoons, threaded fiddle pattern with shell, crest ^ a ' Goat.' 3 silver tea Spoons, fiddle pattern, crest— a Goat.' 1 gold Watch, white dial, has attached a brown hair Guard with gold barrel and swivel. 1 gold signet Ring set with onyx tone, black and white. 1 large gold Brooch with pinkish red stones and aqua marine. 1 gold Bracelet set with amethyst and other stones. 1 gold Locket, traced, containing hair, and with glass at the back. 1 oval gold Locket, with band for torquoise on one side. 1 gold Guard, very fine, repaired at one end with white cotton. 1 lady's gold Watch, silver dial, ' F. G.' engraved on the back ; has attached a short gold Chain, gold Pencil- case, a small silver- Coin and a Seal with wt. ich Key at the tffifisitc end. 1 gold King with while enamel add red stone, supposed ruby. 1 Brooch, shape « of a dove, the back gold and face torquoisa 1 gold Lacket, traced, containing hair. 1 dead gold Locket, containing two photographs. 1 twisted silver Brooch. 1 coral Brocelet with silver Clasp. 1 silver Pencil case, and about Nine Shillings in cash. 1 plain dead gold Locket, with inscription on one side, and photograph on the other. £ 10 reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offenders, and in proportion to the property recovered. Found at Hodnet, Salop, in the first week of August, and supposed to be stolen, the following ; Sheep :— three Shropshire down Ewes one marked ' I, P.' on the left side, two cross- bred Wethers, and one Ewe; all in good condition. Stolen from a field at the Buildings, in the parish of West Felton, during the night of the 24th instant: a dark brown Horse, 3 years old, between 15 and 16 hands high, in rather low condition, and unshod. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, Aug. 31. Stolen from a field at Chertsey, between the 21st and 27th instant, a bay Mare, aged, about 16 hands high, white on forehead, off hind fetlock joint white, in foal, the property of Edward Dearle, butcher. Also from a field at Chertsey, between tbe 26th and 29th instant, a black mare Pony, rising 3 years, between 12 und 13 hands high, long tail, and cow hocked, the property of Richard Harris, butcher. Stolen from a field at Scholar Green, Odd- Rode, the property of James Newton, a brown Mare, 6 yrs. old, 15$ hands high, a white star on lorehesd, a lump or swelling on one hock, and had no shoe on one of the tore feet. Callis. baker, ot Oxford- street, Leicester, a rnau of the following description : about 20 year* of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 ii ches high, rather stout made, round features, and dressed in light clothes, and white billycock hat. It was a chesnut maie, aged, about 14£ hands high, nearly thorough bred, lame in the far fore foot, and small white star in the forehead. The cart is nearly new, painted green and black, ' J. Srolen from a field in the parish of Whittington, Salop, on the night of the S3rd instaut, a dark brown cob Horse, 9 years old, 13 or 14 hands high, long bl. ick mane and tail, white star on forehead, off hind foot white, end fresh shod on fore feet. Found at Enville, on the lfith instant, supposed to have been stolen, a dark broevn Mare, 16 hands high, a white star on the forehead, the near fore foot white, and in good condition. Information to be given to Police Constable Dobson, Enville, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 26. Stolen from Castlemalwood Lodge, in the New Forest, Hants, during the i i^ ht of the 10th Instant, a strong bay hack Horse, about 15 hands high, and apparently of the Irish breed ; has a small tear on the inner side of each fore fetlock joint from cutting, and scar and loss of hair at back of near hind leg betweeu fetlock joint and hoof through having been cut with a rope. Any person giving such information as will lead to the apprebeosion and conviction of the offender and recovery of the Horse shall receive £ 2 reward. Description of JOHN HENRY HOLLOWAY, a coal dealer's collector, charged with embezzling various sums of Money belonging to Thomas Bees and Charles Fowler, his masters, at Birmingham : he is from 28 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, very light and slight whiskeis, long moustache, and of smart appear- ance; dressed in cark clothes aud hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Glossop, Birmingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- stnet, August 28. Description of WILLIAM THORPE, a clerk, who absconded from Leeds, on the 19th instant, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been granted, charging him with embezzlement: he is about 22 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 iuches high, slender made, pale complexion, brown hair, small light coloured wh'skers, weak eyes, which are slightly red, and walks lame with one leg ; was dressed in a neat dark suit, aud silk hat. He took with him a large new yellow leather portmanteau, full of clothes. Information to be given to tire Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leeds.— Bow street, August 26.
