Notice.— It iB requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving nformation respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may Bienr the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As HO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all letters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well aa those from tbe regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his » uthority. INFORMATIONS. About 1 o'clock on tke morning of the 5th instant, two gamekeepers were out watching in a field near to Cudworth Railway Station, when they met with two poachers, one of whom had a gun, and threatened to shoot the keepers if they approached them ; the keepers seized the poachers, and a desperate struggle ensued, the keepers were overpowered, and the poachers got away, leaving the keepers insensible, and both are now in a very precarious state from the injuries they received. One of the poachers is about 40 years of « ge, 5 feet 8 inches high, little or no whiskers, very bald head, but has a tuft of hair on forehead, round face, broad shoulders, and is supposed to have mar!< s on the throat where the keeper seized 1 him ; dressed in dark pilot jacket : the other about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slight moustache and beard round chin, and was cut and bruised on the head and face ; dressed in dark jacket. Information to be given to Superintendent Sykes, Police Office, Barnsley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 6. On th? 24th ultimo, the body of a newly born male child was found near Messrs. Watson and Co.' s timber yard, on the Glamorganshire Canal : the body was wrapped up in an old stuff drees, and some calico. On the 28th, the body of a newly born female child was found in the waters ot' the canal, near the Custom House Bridge : it was wiapped up in an old black dress, a piece of rag over the mouth, and a piece of an old sheet, in which was a stone of about 6 lbs. weight, tied with string to the body. The coroner's jury have returned a verdict of wilful murder affainst some person or persons unknown. Tk » articles found with the bodies may be seen at the Police Station. Whoever will give such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders in the above cases shall receive a reward of £ 20, on application to Superintendent Stockdale, Police Station, Cardiff.— Bow- street, July 6. AUAOLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. A burglary was committed on the night of the 2nd instant at Great Finborough, Suffolk, and the following property stolen : five silver Tea Spoons, engraved ' MB.' in cypher ; four silver Table Spoons, engraved ' R..' & c. ; five electro- plated Tea Spoons, stamped on back ' J. B.;' six electro- plated Dessert Spoons, two ditto Table ditto, two common Table ditto. Information to be given to Inspector Freeman, Stowmarket, Suffolk.— Bow- street, July 6. Between 10 a. m. and 7 p. m. on the 4th instant, the cottage of Richary Niblett, mason, of the parish of New Radnor, was broken into, by breaking a pane in the kitchen window and forcing open the casement, and the following property stolen therein : six metal Tea Spoons, a silver Brooch, a lady's Belt with blight yellow buckle, and a small quantity of Bread and Butter. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Superintendent Constance, Penybont, or to Police Constable Weale, New Radnor— Bow- street, July 6. On the 2nd instant, between 1 and 5 p. m., the dwelling- house of Mary Wally, of Doveridge, was entered, and the following property stolen therein, viz.: 1 new silver Geneva Watch, maker John Jones, London, No. 18285. 1 old gold Geneva Watch, flowered on the back of case. 1 gold Rii g, set with pearls. 1 gold Keeper Ring. .. 1 gentleman's Ring, set with a stone. 1 lady's gold Brooch, set with red stones, large size. 3 pairs of Ear- rings, one pair long drops. 1 small silver Spoon, marked ' S.' 1 Pocket Book, containing several Receipts for Money dep sited in the Bank of England. 2 Notes of Hand for £ 20 each, on one of these notes £ 10 has been received and credit given on it. A Receipt for £ 60, deposited in the Burton, Uttoxeter, and Ashbourne Union Binlr. £\ in Gold, 6s. in Silver, Is. in Copper. Information to be given to Superintendent Corbishley, Ash- bourne, Derbyshire.— Bw- street, July 6. Between 2 and 9 p m. on the 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. James Lockyer, farmer, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein : a Weather- glass, maker Bianchi, Tunbridge Wells; a single- barrelled Gun, maker E. Fishenden, Tunbridge ; and a buckhorn handled Pocket Knife. Information to be s>' ven at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Sergeant Peeile- s, Mark Cross, Tunbiidge Wells. — Bow- street, July G. During the night of the 24th instant, the dwelling- house of John Jones, of Rowton, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : a pair of Blucher Boots, bra6s eyelets ; a cotton cord Vest, barragan back and sleeves ; a white cotton Slop ; three cotton Shirts, one white, two blue and white stripes ; a pint tin Can, about 3 lbs. of Bread, 1 lb. of Cheese, and ^ lb. ot Bacon. Supposed by a man, who has been working at the place, about 23 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, brown hair, fresh complexion, full face, no whiskers, and dressed in black clotll cap, coat, and vest, and dark blue trousers with light blue stripes. Information to be given to Superintendent Wilson, Tattenhall, or Sergeant Palin, Waverton, near Cheste — Bow- street, June 29. During the night of the 26th instant, the dwelling- house of John Dunning, of Handley, Cheshire, was burglariously broken into, and the following property stolen therein : a linsey Petticoat, a blue and white striped cotton Shirt, a white cotton Shirt, a child's green and black plaid Frock, a check Apron, a white cotton Chemise, a white Neckerchief, and a loaf of Bread , formation to be given to Superintendent Wilson, T- ite-; , Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 29. Between 2 and 6 p. m. on the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house bf Thomas Lindsay, at Limbourne Woodlands, Berks, was broken into, and a 4- lb. Loaf of Bread, some cooked Meat, and an old linen Towel ( can be identified by the owner) stolen therein. Supposed by a tramp, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers, and dressed in a dirty brown slop, old cord trousers torn about the legs, and old black billycock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent O'Neill, Wautage, Berks.— Bow- street, June 29. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen on the evening of the 2nd instant, from the person of a gentleman in the city of Ripon, a strong silver lever Watch, capped, No. 8762, had attached a common brass fob Chain, with a small sea Shell and a common Key at the end. Information to be given to Superintendent Burniston, of the City Police, Ripon, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 6 Stolen from the person of gentlemen, at the Wood Green Station of the Great Northern Railway : On the 30th ultimo : A silver Geneva Watch, maker Benson, Ludgate- hill, f- plate ; also a gold Albert Chain, plain link, large pattern, to which was attached a large gold Seal, engraved with the City of London arms. A silver lever Watch, capped, steel hands, black figures on white face, seconds hand, made in White- street, Borough. On the 1st instant: A gold Watch, with white enamel face, gold hands, engine turned, maker Adams, Lombard- street. Information to be given to Mr. R Williams, the Company's Inspector of Police, King's Cross Station, or at any Metro- politan Police Station.— Bou>- street, July 3. Stolen from the person at Kirton- in- Lindsey, on the 24th instant, a silver detached lever Watch, with silver dial, and gold figures, No. 7792, a silver albert Chain attached, with a silver Seal and Key. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Wynne, Gainsborough, or to Sergeant Taylor, Kirton- in- Lindsey.— Bow- street, June 29. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Romford, Essex, on the evening of the 26th instant, a double- bottomed gold a. plate lever Watch, maker B. T. Burlton, 29, Beckford- row, Walworth, London, No. 3578. Information to be given to Between 10 30 a m. and 12- 30 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, the house of Mr. John Wyles, Midland- road, Leeds, was brokeu and entered, and stolen therein ; a small gold lever Watch, No. 1729, a long gold Guard, 6iuall fancy pattern, a pair of gold Bracelets, a gold Necklet and Locket, a gold Brooch, with topaz stone, marked ' J. W.' at the back. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leeds.— Bow- street, July 6. On tbe night of the 19th ultimo, the railway station at Penygroes, Carnarvonshire, was broken into and stolen therein : dark plaid cloth single- breasted Coat, three horn buttons in front, two pockets outside ; a calico Shirt, linen front; a striped flannel ditto, marked ' 0 N. J.;' and a white flannel Muffler, imitation dog's lie id on it and red border, the property of Owen N Jones ; also a Mack cloth Coat, trimmed with silk, three pockets outside an 1 two inside ; a blue cloth monkey Jacket, three pockets outside and two inside, ' Daniel Owen, draper, Towyn,' on a loop inside the collar of both coats ; a pair of light drab fancy Trousers, a pair of brown cloth ditto, a pair of plaid cloth ditto ; a Waistcoat, ' Owen Daniel' on the buttons ; two linen Shirts, and a dark Muffler, the property of John Williams, Llanllyfni. Information to be giveu to the Chief Constable, Carnarvon.— Bow- street, July 3. Between 10 a. m. and 6 p. m. ou the 30th ultimo, the cottage of Henry Woodfield, labourer, of the parish of Max- stoke, was broken into and stolen therein: two Suits of men's Clothes, one black, the other grey, both jackets made round, two pockets outside and one inside in each, and in good repair ; two calico Shirts, one old and white, tbe other new and brown; and a red silk Handkerchief, marked ' T. W.' in centre. Supposed by a tramp. A very old pair of trousers and waistcoat were found near the cottage, and are supposed to belong to the offender. Information to be given to Inspector Boulter, Coleshill, near Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, July 3. Stolen between 11- 30 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, and 2- 20 a. m. on the 1st instant, from Mr. Briggs, jeweller, No. 3, Duke- street, Brighton, £ 64 in gold, and 10a. in silver, from a cash- box in the bedroom. ' Between 10 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 27th ult., the| cottage of John Routledge, at Stoneraise, near Carlisle, was broken into, and the following property stolen : a woman's black cloth Jacket, black buttons down the breast and on the sleeves • a red stuff Dress, trimmed with black velvet, and black buttons down the breast; a black stuff quilted Petticoat, a few small spots of red paint on the skirt, grey calico top band with two buttons to fasten ; a white Apron, and three cotton Chemises. Stolen from a field at Great Marlow, Bucks, on the night of the 2nd instant, a bright bay mare Pony, about 12 hands high, 5 years old, black legs, and small scar on off hind leg. Information to be given to Inspector Clear, Great Mariow, Bucks.— Bow- ttreet, July 6. Stolen from a field in Great Staughton, Hunts, during the night of the 30th ultimo, the property of Mr. F. Margerrison, of Kimbolton, publican, a bl- ick cirt Horse, 15 years old, about 15J bands high, white face and one white heel, in good con- dition, and shows signs of stringhalt when moving backwards. £ 5 reward is offered for the recovery of the horse and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Super- intendent Copping, St. Neot's, Hunts.— Bow- street, July 6. Stolen from a field at Stonnall, ia the parish of Shenstone, on the 25th ult., a light bred cart Mare, in foal, brown colour, hind feet white, aged, about 15 hands high, white mark down the face, in low condition. Information to be given to Super- intendent Oswell, Burton- on Trent, or to Sergeant Bason, Shenstone, near Lichfield, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 6. Stolen on the night of the 29ih ultimo, from a field at West Walton, a light bay nag Mare, 12 years old, 15 hands high, white mark down the forehead, two white spots on the back part of off foreleg, from a cut, and a lump on the top of the hoof. Information to be given to Superintendent Seaman, Terrington, near King's Lynn, Norfolk.— Bow- street, July 3. Supposed stolen from Pelsall- common, on the 22nd ult., a bay horse Pony, aged, in good condition. Information to be given to Inspector McCrea, Rushall, near Walsall, Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, July 1. Stolen from a field at Naunton Downs Farm, in the parish of Naunton, Gloucestershire, ou the night of the 27th ultimo, a light brown Mare, of the cart horse breed, 4 years old, about 16 hands high, star on forehead, black legs, mane and tail, has a scar under the foretop, and iu good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Seys, Northleach, or to Police Constable Evans, Lower Guiting, near Winchcomb, Gloucester- shire.— Bow- street, July 1. Stolen during the night of the 29th ult, between 10 p. m. and 4 a. m., from a stable at Kirmington, the property of Mr. Wm. Lancaster, a chesnut mare Pony, about 14 hands high, 6 years old, has a oroac range of white down the face, three white legs, just about or above the fetlock, square tail, long mane, and of good action. Also an old saddle and bridle were stolen from the same place, the stirrup Irons, of the Saddle were two odd odes, one of them a military one. Found on the 24th instant, at Bridgwater, Somerset, supposed to have been stolen, a red Heifer, white face, and white under belly, in good condition. Strayed from Cryffronydd, about a fortnight ago, and since supposed to have been stolen : a bay hack Mare, about 14 hands high, 8 years old, black legs maue and tail, blemished on the off stifle, and saddle marked. August 17. Stolen from Pudbury on the 30th ultimo, a black cloth Coat, with pockets at the Bides, breast pocket a little torn, black cloth covered buttons. By a tramp, about 30 years of age, 5 feet, 8 or 9 inches bich, brown ba r, whiskers, and mous- tache, aid dressed in a dark coat, grey vest, dirty cord trousers, lace- up shoes nearly new, and low round hard hat with buckle at the side, or dark cip with peak. Absconded from Ilia lodgings at 7 a. m. on the 1st instant, stealing a black silk Dress, full body, and the sleeves have wristbands to them, a black frock Coat, and a gold Brooch : an Irishman, about 30 years of age. 5 leet 4 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair and beard, and has a mark across the bridge of the nose ; dressed in a black round hat, dark jacket turned browo, red ' carf or necktie, and cord trousers with a patch on knee. Absconded from Stoke Poges, Bucks, on the 26th ultimo, charged with stealing H Scythe : a tramping mower, about 40 years of 3gf, 5 ftet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair and whi- kers. He is accompanied by a man 35 years oi age, 5 feet 5 inches high, and wearing a string of blue heads round his neck. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Inspector Sutton, Iver, Bucks.— Bow- Street, July 1- Stolen from a dwelling house at Burlton, Salop, on the 24th ultimo, a pair of strong lace- up Boots, nearly new, ' T. W.' marked ineiile of each boot, in ink ; a cross- barred bundle Hankerchief, a Necktie, and a turnip Hoe, the property of Thomas Williams. Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from No. 15, Catherine- street, Hoxton, a £ 20 Bank of England Note, No. 16007 or 16011, dated 22 May, 1868, and about £ 58 in Gold. Missing from his home at Westerham since the 20th ir. et. JOHN SANDS, plumber by trade, 30 years oi age, 6 leet high sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, walks very lame with right leg and turns his foot out when walking, and wears irons to support his foot and leg ; dressed in grey mixture jacket, patch on elbow, brown mixture trousers, vest, and cap._ It is feared some ill has befallen him.
