D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As BO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from tbe regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be morning, the dwelling- house of J. S. Caunt, Esq., the shrub- bery, Alvechurch, was broken and entered, and four Overcoats, a pair of Shoes, a silver caddy Spoon, and two Tops of Cruet Stands were stolen therein. A reward of £ 20 will be paid by the Alvechurcb Association for the Prosecution of Felons and a further reward of £ 10 will be paid by Mr. Gaunt, to any person who will give such information as may lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. In- formation to ba given to Superintendent Humphries, King's Heatb, to the Police Constables of the District, or to J. S. Gaunt, Esq., Shrubbery, Alvechurch.— Bow- st, June 15. During the night of the 7th instant, the dwelling- house of Joseph Bowring was broken and entered, and stolen therein: a blue black frock Coat, some portions of the binding much worn and turned green, turn- up cuffs, lining much worn ; a pair of moleskin Trousers, plaid waistband lining ; a pair of brass Candlesticks, and a piece of Bacon. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Inspector Wool, Crewe, Cheshire. — Bow- strc^ t, June 12. On the 10th inst., the cottage of Wm. Edwards, of the Clay Pits, Ellesmere, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: authority. addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without liis j a black cloth Coat ; a pair of black cloth Trousers; a blue I striped cloth Coat, one pocket inside left breast, and one on ' left outside ; a dark cloth Vest, with two pockets, and one I watch pocket, bound round with braid ; a pair of boy's dark I cloth plaided Trousers; and the half of a silk Handkerchief. 1 Supposed by a tramp about 20 years of age, 6 feet 5 or 6 inches - high, long thin face ; dressed in an old brown velvet coat, cord trousers, soiled with red at the bottom of the legs, and an old j drab cloth cap. Stolen from the ' person at Welshpool Fair, on the 8ih instant, a patent lever Watch, No. 2942, maker John Evans, Welshpool. Between 10 p. m. on the 11th instant and 6 30 a. m. on the I2tb, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Ingham, of Drighlington, Maltster, was entered, by removing the cellar grate, and tile undermentioned articles stolen therefrom : 1 black cloth Frock Coat, two pockets inside skirts behind, one outside left breast, black lining, bound round the edges with silk braid. 1 pair of black cloth Trousers. 1 black cloth Waistcoat. 1 drab mixture cloth Shooting Coat, two outside pockets with flaps, buttons of sauie material. 1 light mixture cloth Vest, single breasted, buttons same material. 1 brown and white Scarf Shawl, puce border. 1 lady's black silk Jacket, with a row of black beads, trimming down front, and three black silk tassels on each shoulder. 1 pair of lady's new black kid Gloves. 1 pair of man's Wellington Boots, red leather topB, the left has a hole worn through the sole. 1 new cotton Shirt, linen front and wristbands, three white pearl buttons down front. 1 silk Pocket Handkerchief, red ground, cream coloured ^ flower ; 1 white silk ditto ; 1 silk ditto, dark coloured flower, dark border, much worn, torn in the centre. 1 gold Scarf Pin, flowered head. 2 common brass Scarf Pins. 1 black alpaca Umbrella, white ivory handle and ring. 1 lady's small black leather Satchel, red leather lining, a small pocket inside, containing 3d. in copper, a little brandy snap, and some nuts. 1 small white linen Collar. 1 black leather Purse, red lining, containing 5s. lOd. in Silver. 1 Scotch Cap. 1 pair of elastic Braces, with blue edges. The offender left behind, in the coal cellar, an eld black billy- cock bat, a pair of old boots, with elastic sides and ribbed fronts, much worn, and an old cotton Handkerchief, with white ground and red border. Information to be given to Superintendent Ball, West Riding Constabulary, Bradford. — Bow- street, June 15. On the night of the llth instant, the house of Jonathan Fletcher, farmer, Pentrick, Ripley, was entered, and four Cheeses, a loin of Lamb, 1 lb. of Butter, a Rabbit, a plum Pudding, about 2 lb. of Cheese, a pig's Chap, and a 2- peck Basket stolen therein. Supposed by a tramp, who was seen about the neighbourhood, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inchea high, dark whiskers shaved off at the sides, and dressed in a coat, cord trousers, and brown cap. Information to be given to Inspector Masley, Police Station, Ripley, at any of the County Police Stations, and to Superintendent Rust, County Constabulary Office, Heanor, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, June 15. On ( he night of the llth instant, or early on the following On the 8th instant, the cottage of Henry Humphreys, of Eglwyseagle, in the parish of Llangollen, was broken and entered, and the following property stoleu therein : 1 pair of blue cloth Trousers, lined with calico, nearly new. 1 pair of cotton cord Trousers, lined with lambskin, patch on the knee, newly washed. 1 black cloth Waistcoat, lined with lambskin. 1 double- breasted moleskin Waistcoat, with two pockets outside. 1 black and white plaid silk Waistcoat. 1 light brown stuff Waistcoat, lined with cilico. 1 black cloth Jacket, black silk buttons, two pockets out- side, black lining, velvet inside the cuffs, and woin under the armpits. 1 brown and puce pocket Handkerchief. 2 pairs of blue and white woollen Stockings. 2 Mufflers. 1 Razor. 1 pair of Blucher Boots. 1 white calico Shirt, linen fronts and wristbands. 1 red flannel Shirt, with black spots. Supposed by two tramps, who were seen near the cottage about the time : one is about 5 feet 5 inches high, daik copper colour, with black moustache ; the other is about 5 feet 10 inches high, full face, no whiskers, light hair, and pleasant looking. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, Wrexham, or to Inspector Patterson, Llangollen.— Bow- street, June 10. marked, chafed in two pltces on off side, short tail, hind feet white.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, June 12. Stolen from a park on the farm of Druim. in the parish of Urray, Ross- shire, during the night of the 4th instant, a dark brown Clydesdale, Mare, 7 years old, from 16 to 17 hands high, having a small and narrow streak of white on centre of fore- head. heavy black mane and fetlocks, off hind fetlock being slightly white, it is a prize Mare, of fine symmetry, in excellent condition, and of considerable value. Supposed to have been stolen from an orchard, on the night of the 5th instant, the propeity of Richard Kemsley, of Borden, a black Horse, aged, about 13 hands high, long tail, grey round left eye. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Mayne; Police Court, Sittingbourne, Kent.— Bow- street, June 10. Stolen between the 3rd and Gth instant, from a field in the parish of King's Norton : a light brown cart Horse, about 17 hands high, 7 years old, star on forehead, grey over the eyes, white fore letlock, has a scar on it, hair worn off top of back by the crupper, part of the hair cut off neir fore leg, the pro- perty of Mr. 11. Horner, Shirlock- street, Birmingham. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Humphries, King's Heath, or Jp Detective Sergeant Kemp, Balsall Heatb, Wor- cestershire.— Bow- street, June 10. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Absconded from Barton- ucder- Needwood, in the county of Stafford, two men, of the following description, who are charged with stealing a Lamb, on tbe 7th ultimo : One is 27 years ot age, 6 teet 6$ inches high, light hair and complexion, and has a very bad hairshorn lip, which affects his speech very much ; dressed in old light clothes. The other is 26 years of age, 5 feet h\ inches high, dark hair and complexion, sometime! wears a full beard, and at times shaves all off, he has served in the army ; dressed in light clothes ; they may be found working at a cement plaster mill. Information to be given to Superintendent Oswell, Burton- on Trent.— Bow- street, June 15. Stolen during the night of the 12th or early on the morn- ing of the 13th instant, from a stable at West Derby, near Liverpool, a dark brown Mare, about 15 hands high, dark legs, has a large scar which is bare of hair on the off hind leg, half bred, and rather fleshy. Also stolen at the same time, a new Saddle and Stirrup Irons. A reward of £ 10 will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property, on application to the Superintendent, County Constabulary, Old Swan, near Liverpool.— Bow- street, June 15. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 9th instant, from a field at Pewleigh, Essex, the property of Thos. Clark, farmer ; a dark chesnut Mare, 5 years old, long tail, the skin slightly changed near the off fore foot. Supposed to have been stolen on llie 4th instant, from a willow garth at Ferrybridge, a grey Mare, 5 years old, about 14 hands high, tail out square, and in good condition. Absconded on the 8' H instant, from No. 2. Camden- place, F M- road, Forest Gate, West Ham, .•. esdini £ 60 in Gold and Silver, a £ 20 Bank of England Note, a £ 0 ditto, and two £ 5 ditto : a man, 21 years of age. 5 feet G inches high, dark com- plexion, hair, and moustache ( slight) mark of a cut on right side of chin ; dressed in black suit and black felt hat.— Metro- politan Police, K Division, June 15. Description of EDWARD JURY, who has Absconded from Folkestone, charged with embezzemeut : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, thin face, dark hair and com- plexion, small moustache, little whiskers, and dr « s- ed in black clothes ; he is a printer and reporter for local newspapers, and is well known in Chatham, Strood, and Maidstone. A warrant for his apprehension is in the possession of the Police at Folkestone. Information to be given to Superintendent Martin, Borough Police, Folkestone, Keut— Boir- ic., June 15. Absconded, charged with violating a little girl, 11 veais of age, on the 1st instant: CHARLES DYTON, blacksmith, 40 years of age, o teet 9 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, whiskers, and moustache ( urning grev) ; dressed in black jacket and trousers, grey tweed vest, and black hat ; supposed to have gone to Hoddesdon. Herts. Warrant issued. — Sletropolitan Police, T Division, June 15. Absconded on the 29th ultimo, from Frensham, Surrey, charged with feloniously embezzling £ 7, tbe monies of his master, Mr. R. Beales. of Frensham Mills ; JOS. SHELLEY, 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair aud complexion, dark bushy whiskers, small eyes, rather weak, a slight cast in one of them, walks rather cripplish, has served in the 2nd Bat. 20th Regiment, and was discharged at Chatham, where he worked for a short time in the hop gardens ; he is a native of Auslow, near Burton- upou Trent, and his father is gardener to F. Mosley, Esq., Needwood Forest, Auslow, Staffordshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Troke, Hants Con- stabulary, Odiham, who holds a wairant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, June 15. Absconded on the 2nd instant, from the Rhos, near Wrex- ham, Denbighshire, charged with stealing from a dwelling- house, about 3 quarts of Spirits, and a pair of Shoes : JAMES DAVIES, collier, a bout 23 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, m whiskers, round face, flat nose, stout built, bandy le. ged, and lame with the left leg ; dressed in pilot cloth jicket, linen trousers, all patches, and clogs. He has resided at Wigan, and has visited the public- house known as the Angle inn, he is also known at Dolly Green, j^ op, and has visited a beerhouse there, kept by a man named Ducket, near the Dun Cow. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bote- street, June 15. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Glossop, between 3 and 4 a. m. of the 14th instant, uu old silver Geneva Watch, with seconds hand, outer case much indented ; about £ 3 in Gold and Silver, and a pair ot women's white cotton Stockings. By a man, who had been lodging in the house, between 30 and 40 years of age, 6 feet 1 or 2 inches high, light complexion, brown hair, no whiskers, lort he thumb of left hand, cast in one eye, stoops a little when walking tattooed on b ith arms, on one is the figure of a woman, and on the other the tree of forbidden fruit, Adam on one side. Eve the other, also a ciucitix aud a mermaid; dressed in a short calico j cket, dark cloth striped vest and trousers, black billycock hat, and half- Wellington boots ; he is a labourer, and supposed to belong to Someret- shire. Ten Shillings reward will be paid for his appiehension and recovery of the watch. Description of H private of the 70th Regiment of Infantry, who absconded from the Ashton- under- Lyne Barracks on the 10th inst., stealing a £ 5 Note : 21 years of sge, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, broken nose, a native of Kent; dre- st d in regimental tunic, forage cap, serge trousers, waist- belt. and bayonet. Information to be given to Superintendent Ludlam, Wilshaw, near Ashton- under- LyDe.— bew- strcet, June 15. Absconded on the 5th instant, from No. 134, Middlesex- street, Whitechapel, embezzling £ 1 16s. 8d. : a youth, 17 years of uge, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion aod hair, broad mouth ; dressed iu nutcher's smock, iipron, lii> ht trousers, and cloth cap.— Metropolitan Police, 11 Division, June 12. Stolen about 5 a. m. ou the 10th instant, from W. Walker, forgeman, High- street, Silverdale, a black and red woollen pbud Shawl, and a pair of woman's leather Boots with elastic sides. By a man who had been lodging in the house for two nights, about 28 years of age, and dark complexion ; dressed in a black hairy coat, dark vest, cord trousers, and clogs ; is a native of Ireland, and stated he was working as a labourer at the Leycett, near Newcastle- under- Lyme, and gave his name THOMAS CALLAGAN. Information to be given to Police Sergeant Ton, Silverdale, Newcaatle- under- Lyme, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bou>- street, June 12. Absconded from Caerwent, Monmouthshire, charged with embezzling the sum of £ 40, the property of the Church- wardens and Overseers of the parish, THOMAS HEMMINGS ROBINS, late assistant overseer and schoolmaster, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, proportionate make, dark complexion, black eyebrows, and whiskers all over his chin, upper lip shaved, full dark eyes, high forehead, long nose, and impediment in his speech ; dressed in light coloured alpaca coat, brown plaid vest, dark ribbed trousers, black soft felt hat, and lace up boots with brass eyelet holes ; he is a native of London, and has relatives in that neighbourhood. It is supposed he will go there, or to some seaport town aud ship for America. Absconded from Aston, in the parish of Worthen, charged with stealing a black and red mixture cloth Waistcoat, a blue and white silk Neckerchief, a pair of blue woollen Stockings, white tops and toes, and a leather Purse containing 10s. lOd.: WILLIAM GITTINS, alias RICHARD GITTINS, a native of the Pant, near Oswestry, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers, and has lost an upper front tooth; dressed in old drab slop moleskin waist- coat, cotton cord trousers, very small ribbed, old thin lace- up boots, and old greasy cap. Information to be given to Super- intendent Caswell, County Constabulary Office, Shrewsbury, or to Police Constable ( No. 62) Cain, Worthen, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 12. Absconded, a man, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark sandy hair and whiskers, full features, and stout build ; dressed in plaid cap, striped livery vest, dark striped trousers, torn at both knees, light laco up boo s nailed, and wide toes; represents himself to be a colt breaker : he is charged with stealing a jacket, which has since been recovered. By a lodger, a native of Horsforth, near Leeds, weaver, 22 years of age, 5 ft. 6 ins high, very dark complexion, brown eyes, black curly hair, no whiskers, . light moustache, » nd slender make ; dressed in a dirty white smock, dark mixture trousers, very old and torn, soft billycock hat, and old elastic- side boots. Stolen from West Scrafton, near Leyburn, on the 6th inst., B pair of plain lace- up working Boots, such as generally worn by labourers : by a tramp, who stated that he was a collier, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, peculiar lookiDg about his eyes, rather round shouldered, and stoutly bailf ; dressed in dark cloth coat and vest, light cord trousers, dark cap, with peak and sstracan border. Information to be given to Superintendent Walmsley, North Riding Constabulary, Leyburn.— Bon- street. June 10. Description of WILLIAM alias BUSHEL SMITH, who bsconded from Iver, on the 2nd instant, charged with larceny : he is 36 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow com- plexion, no whiskers, light brown hair, very large head, short neck, has a very repulsive countenance, aud rather stout ; dressed in corduroy trousers, dirty white slop, sometimes wears an old dark pilot coat, black cloth cip with leather peak, generally wears the peak over the left ear, arid heavy nailed boots. He is a labourer, and is supposed to be working in the brickfields near London. Information to be given to Inspector Sutton, Iver, Bucks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, June 10. Stolen on the 3rd instant, from No. 149, Fulham- road, Brompton : an inch of fine Gold, copper wire through the centre, weighing 2dwts.; three old wed ioer Rings ; a lady's long gold Chain ; and a quantity of old Gold and Filings. By a workman wbo has absconded, 26 years if age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, dark hair and whiskers, grey eyes, delicate looking, slight build ; dressed in a shabby black walk- ing coat, dark brown double- brea~ ted vest with blue spots, grej and white stiiped trouseis, Oxford hat, and heavy boots with toecaps.— Met'opoliian Police, B Division, June 10. Stolen during the night of the 6lh instant, from the back premises of William Benbow, of the Hembank Forden, Mont gomeryshire, a roller Towel, about half worn ; and about balf- a- pound of biown Soap. By a tramp, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, no iVhiskers, and sore on instep of left foot; dressed in a dark cap, a rough brown mixture jacket too large and Jong for him, pockets on the hips, moleskin vest, cord trousers torn at the bottoms, a coarse check shirt, a neckerchief fastened with a broad metal scarf ring, and clogs, the heel of oDe supposed to be nailed ; he is in the habit of applying to bricklayers for work as a labourer. Inlorination to be given to Sergeaut Strefford, Welshpool, or to Police Constable Rogers, Montgomery.— Bote- street, June 10 Description of two youths, who absconded from Oswestry, on the 6th instant, ch-. rged on a warrant with stealing two Bottles and a bag of Sweets, recovered, from a waggon, at the Cumbrian Railway Station : GEORGE FOULKS, engine cleaner, 16 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, long black hair, rather high cheek bones, and walks erect; dressed in dark jacket, dirty white trousers, and black velvet cap. EDWARD JONES, engine cleaner, 16 years of age, about 5 feet 4 iuches high, fresh complexion, rather sandy hair, round features, full eyes, down cast look ; dressed in his working clothes, was a drummer boy in the band of a volunteer corps.
