Notice.— It ^' S requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining < v living nformation respecting supposed offenders, or Btolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the '' POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information Bhould be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letter* addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters Stolen from the person of Joseph Davies, at the Craven Arms Hotel, on the 29' h ultimo, an old black leather Purse, bia- s edging, a small piece t< iru out where it had been fastened with elastic, containing £ 6 10s. in Gold, and about 30s. in Silver. By a tramp of the fallowing description : 15 years of age, about 6 feet a or 4 inches high, fair complexion, hair rather long, and dressed in grey alpaca jacket, dark cord trousers, similar to those worn by railway porters, and dark cloth cap. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING On the 26 < h ultimo, the dead body of a full- grown female child was found in an ashpit at the hack of Denmark- street, in the borough of South Shields, where it appeared to have lain about three weeks ; an inquest was held at the General Have- lock, when the jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Chief Constable Richardson, South Shields, Durham. — Bow- street, June 5. On the 27' h ultimo, the dead body of a newly- born male child was found in Upper Deal- park, near Sholden Lodge, in the borough ot Deal, wrapped in a piece of old lining of a dress, an old white calico petticoat, and a strip of linen, inch wide and 6J feet long, tied tightly round its neck, and thrust into a dark brown French f^ ured merino bag. about 1 foot square, and the whole tied up in a small black alpaca apron and a piece of old black dress of the same material. The body appeared to have beeu dead about three weeks. At the inquest a verdict of' Wilful murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. Obtained on the 26th ultimo, from 77, Southampton- row, by means of a forged order, two new Silver Plated Cornets, maker 4 Distin. Nos 9762 and 9668.' By a man 26 years of age, 6 feet high, slim huilt, sallow complexion, sandy hair and whis- kers ; dressed in hi ck overcoat and dark striped trousers, shabby. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 1. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen from the person at Yoxford Fair, on the night of the 3rd initant, by a female, an old- fashioned silver ca- e Watch, maker'' Bright,' marked on the plate over the works, a small piece of twine tied to the watch, and two old steel Seals attach'd. Information to be given at. the Police Station, Yox- ford, East Suffolk.— Bow- street, June 8. Stolen on'the night of the 26ih ultimo, from the person of Francis Hawkins, at Hixon, an old- fashioned single- cased silver Watch, marked ' T. Godwin' on the inside case, swivel deficient, and a small steel Chain, washe I with gold, attached. Information to be given to Sergeant Dabbs Haywood, or to Superintendent Crisp, Guildhall, Staffordshire.— Bou>- street, June 3. Description of WILLIAM SINCLAIR, in custody at Leeds, charged with stealing a gold Watch from the person, on the 26th ultimo. He is 30 years of age, 6 feet 6| inches high, fresh complexion, brown eyes, dark brown beard and moustache, by trade a tailor, states he is a native of Bradford, Yorkshire. Information to be given to Inspector Williams, Great Northern Railway Police, King's Cross, London, or to the Governor of Annley Gaol, Yorkshire.— Bow- street. June 3. Stolen from the person of John Howland, at Boughton : a silver hunting Watch, the cases worn rather smooth, a silver Guard, a common Key, a small common Seal and a small foreign Coin attached. Bv a man called " GEORGE," about 23 years of age, 6 feet 2 or 3 inches high ; a labourer, full face, rather stout, tew whiskers, and light hair ; dressed in cord trousers, blue shirt, blue guernsey, and black cap, may have a dirty white slop over the guernsey. Is in company with a labourer, about 28 years of age, about 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light complexion, long hair and whiskers, dressed in white slop and cord trousers. Johnson, bl . ck jet Chain with gold Charms, Key, small Locket, atid Seal ( rose bud engraved) attached with a small gold chased split Ring ; and several small pearl Brooches. Information to be given to Superintendent Stanton, Police Office, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Row- street, June 8. Between 11 a. m. and 4pm OD the 4th instant, a gentle- man's house in the borough of Oldham, was broken and entered, by unlocking the dour with false keys, and the follow- ing property stolen therein : A lady's gold Geneva Watch, flowered cases, makers Stauffer, C & D. Ponds, No. 64765. or 64766. A lady's gold English lever Watch, gold dial, flowered cises. makers Oliphant & Bottsford, Manchester, No. 8114 A ditto gold Guard, diamond bar pattern. A large gold Lxket, containing the portraits of a lady and gentleman. A gold necklet Chain, and small Locket, containing the portrait of a gentleman. A lady's Ring, twisted gold and coral. A ditto, with rubies and pearls set in double band. A pair of gold Ear- rings, set with three emeralds each. A number of gold Charms, on a gold split Ring, amongst them is a gold Pipe, and a gold Pencil- case, in form of a door Key. A large gold oval mourning Brooch, with device in hair on white ground. A Brooch, set with an amethyst. A Scotch pebble Brooch. A gold or gold plated Bracelet, plain band, with twisted knot centre. A gold Scarf Pin, with an English dog's head painted on — the Celebrated Dog Pincher, by an eminent artist. A Russia leather Purse, steel mountings, containing a £ i Manchester Bank of Eugland Note, and £ 2 15s. in cash. £ 5 reward will be paid on recovery of the property, or in pro- portion to the amount recovered, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Also stolen on the 3rd instant, a lady's gold English ' lever Watch, small size, figured back, gold dial, No. 214, had attached a silver Guard, curb pattern. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bow- s'reet, June 8. About 11 a. m. on the 4th instant, the house of Robert Benbow, of Llanrhaiadr, was broken and entered, and two Half Crowns stolen therein : by a tramp, 35 or 40 years of age, middle height, dark sallow complexion, dark hair, iong behind; wore a black cap, red mufflrr, black coat and vest, cord trousers, blucher boots, tips on heels, no nails in front, the outside of the right boot seam ripped ; has the appearance of a sweep. Information to be given to Police Constable Jones, Llanfyllin, or at the Acting Chief Constable's Office, Welsh- pool, Montgomeryshire.— bow street, June 8. Between 3 and 4 a. m. on the 31st ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. Wilkinson, Royal Militia Locks, in the parish cf Iden, Sussex, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein, viz. : a black cloth Overcoat, black lining, and cloth covered buttons ; a dark grey tweed Jacket, two pockets outside ; a pair of brown woollen cord Trousers; a pair of men's side- spring Boots, nearly new ; a brown Bilk Umbrella, cane handle with a dog's head carved on it. By a tramp, about 30 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slight made, light complexion and hair, sandy whiskers meeting under the chin ; dressed in the stolen clothes, which are much too large for him, and a deerstalker hat; he left his own suit of old clothes behind him, near the place of the robbery, and was last seen going into East Kent. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes ; to Superintendent Jeffery, Guestling ; or to Sergeant Campany, Police Station, Beckley, Sussex.— Bow- street, June 5. On the afternoon of the lst instant, the dwelling- house of Edwin Hollands, at Otham, Kent, was broken and entered, and stolen : a pair of drab woollen cord Trousers and Vest, a pair of black cloth Troupe > s and Vest, a blue Monkey Jacket with bone buttons, a black silk Handkerchief, a pair of light coloured summer Trousers and Vest, a black cloth wideawake Hat, stitched ( diamond pattern), and £ 3 0s. 6d. in^ Money, Supposed by a u dark complexion, clothes. Two men were seen near the spot, and are suspected : one is about 6 feet 10 inches high, from 25 to 30 years of age, hair and whiskers ( meeting under the chin) dark, and dressed in a pilot cloth jacket and cloth cap ; the other is about 5 feet 6 inches high, about 25 years of age. daik hair and whiskers, and dressed in a long sleeved waistcoat of mixed plaid, over an under ditto, corduroy trousers, and dark chummy hat. £ 1 reward will be paid to any person w; o will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. During the night of the 30ih ultimo, the office at the Arthington Railway Station, near Otley, was broken and entered, and stolen thereiu : a new black cloth Coat, two pockets outside, one inside left breast, bla". k cloth buttons, and blue sleeve linings ; a new white linen ribbed single breasted Vest, without collar ; a pair of new black cloth doeskin Trousers, fly fronts, lined with white cotton ; a white linen Front, with plaits, and without collar; a white linen Collar, partly worn, 14$ size ; a black and white striped silk Necktie, and blue and hlack silk ditto, 14* size, with clasp ; a small black Writing Desk, containing a piir of black jet Ear Rings and a small round glass Box, 17 Shillings, 7 sixpences, and 3d. in Copper Information to be given to Superintendent Sykes, Police Office, Otley, Yorkshire.— Bow- strcet, June 3. Absconded from East Barkwith on the night of the 31st ultimo, charged with stealing a forepart Iron, the property of Alfred Wilson, shoemaker, of East Bark with ; also a dark mixture cloth Coat, with velvet collar; a black cloth Vest, and a blu- » silk Necktie, of which he was a bailee,— a tramping shoemaker, 30 years of age. 6 feet 4 inches high, dark hair, whiskers shaved off, dark complexion, and has the appearance of a pugilist ; dressed in dark mixture cloth coat with velvet collar, black cloth vest, blue silk necktie with white stripes, woollen cord trousers, blue velvet cap, and blucher boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Barsley, Market Rasen, or to Inspector Truelove, Wragby, Lincolnshire.— — Bow- street, June 3. On the 26th ultimo, the cottage of T. Lewis, labourer, of Buttington, was broken into and a double- breasted moleskin Waistcoat, a pair of boy's brown mixture cloth Trousers, broken on one knee, and a gold Ring stolen therein, the latter has been recovered ( sold at Shrewsbury). By a young man from 18 to 21 years of age, 6 feet 6 iuches high, light sandy hair; was dressed in a black jimcrow hat, white slop, waistcoat and trousers, wore elastic side boots, one of the toes slit to ease it; he had the ap- pearance of a militia man. Information to be given to Police Constable Richards, Buttington, or to Sergeaut Stretford, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, June 1. During the night of the 27th ultimo, the dwelling- house of P. Birkley, silversmith, Commercial- street, Newport ( Mon- mouthshire), was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 14 silver Geneva Watches, Nos. 7027, 7628, 7629, 8563, 8564,8565, 7616, 7616, 7617, 29695, 29696, 29697,. 30018, and 30019. 1 silver hunting Geneva Watch, with silver dial. 1 silver hunting Geneva Watch, No. 22870 or 13045. 6 or 6 small Geneva Watches. 1 English silver lever Watch, maker P. Birkley, New- port. 8 silver lever Watches, not quite new. 1 gold J- plate bunting lever Wa'ch, with gold dial. 2 gold Geneva Watches, with gold dial; one is a small size » nd the other a large one. 9 gold guard Chains, stamped 9 or 10 carat. 8 gold albert Chains, same stamp. 15 silver guard Chains. 7 plated albert Chains. 10 pairs of gold Ear rings. 2 pairs of gold collar Studs. 1 pair of gold Sleeve- links. 1 pair of silver ditto. Found in a field at Corston, on the 4' h instant, supposed to have been stolen, a dai k bay cab Horse, aged, about 13j hands high, in good condition, two email saddle marks on each side and one on buck, bang tail, and had the appearance of having been haid ridne ; also a Saddle and Bridle, with which it is supposed the horse was ridden away. Absconded on the 21st ultimo, charged on warrant with stealing a d. rk brown Mare, a Saddle, aod Bridle, ROBERT ARNULE, alias DEAF BOB, alias BRISTOL BOB, about 34 yeaia of age, 6 fe. i 6 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, and black whiskers meeting under the chin ; has been working at the Station Hotel Hull, an I is likely to look for work at hotels or stables. Stolen from a field in the bamlet of Rhigos, between 9 p. m 31st ultimo and II a. m. on < he 1st instant, a dark brown cart Mare, 9 years old, about 15 hands high, a white streak down the face, long switch rail, rather short in her wind, and newly shod. Stolen from a field at Sittingbourne, Kent, during the night of ' he 3lst ultimo, a black Horse, Itt hands high, 7 years old, low condition, br. ken knees, small lump on one, one white fore foot, and tat tail, the property of Edward Hinge Infor- mation to be given to Superiniendent Mayne. E- caped from custody at Rewdlpy, on the morning of the 6th instant, RICHARD BAYNAM. charged with stealing potatoes: he is 22 y- a. s of age. 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh completion, sandy hair and whiskers, face, neck, and hands freckled, aod drrssed in a white short slop, buttoned round the waist, dark cloth cap with p- ak, dark trousers, and old lace- up boots. Absconded on the 5th instant, from St. Ives, Cornwall, charged wi h stealing £ 5 : a miner, about 5 feet 10 inches high, thiu make, light, brown h. iir, and no whiskers; dressed in a cloth cap grey coat, black trousers, and heavy boots. He Stated that he was going to Bristol, and as he may very probably embark tor America, he may proceed to some other port. E.' engravrd on the back ; a lady's gold Ring, set with six pearls and a white sto e in centre. By a mau who lodged iu the house for one night, snd absconded : about 22 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, and slighily sunburnt; dressed in dark clothe., and black bowler hat ; had a paper parcel wiih him, and stated that he " vas valet to a gentleman visiting at Sandbach, which was false ; he is sup- posed to be a native of Worcester or G ouces'er. Absconded on the 2nd instant, embezzling £ 1 5s. 7d. : a youth, 18 years of age, 5 teet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair; dre- se l in dark vest and trousers, brown cap, had with him a light spring truck. — Metropolitan Police, P Division, June. 8 Absconded on the 3rd instant, stealing £ 410, THOMAS WALTERS, cl. rk, 34 years of ate, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, hair and eyes, full whiskers and moustache ; dressed in biack ouit and hat.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, June 8. Description of MATTHEW ROBERTS, who absconded from Leeds, about the 12th ultimo, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been granted, charged with embezzlement: he is about 60 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, medium build, long thin face, Roman nose, rather red, wears whiskers under the chin ( turning grey) growing a moustache, shakes as he walks, and has a shabby appearance ; dressed in a black suit. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leeds, Yoikshire.— Bow- street, June 3. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Description of a lad going about the country obtaining money by false pretences: he fives the name of EDWARD KAY, 19 years of age, and smart active appearance. His tale is generally that his grandmother lives iu Hitchin and he wantg to get there, or that his grandmother has removed from Hitchin any place where he may me ; that the Rev. Lewis Hensley, Vicar of Hitchin, gave him the money to come, but he finds his grandmother has removed to some other place, and wants the means to go to her. He wus convicted at Sheffield of the same offence in May, 1860, and sentenced to three MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of two men committed to take their trial at the next quarter sessions tor the county of Montgomery, charged with housebreaking : JOHN McCRADY, of No. 14, Blai ksone- stre. t, Liverpool, Bailor, 24 years of age, 5 feet 7£ inches high, fiesh complexion, brown eyes and hair, slight moustache and imperial, scar on right cheek, ' R. J. M. C.' in a wreath of flowers in blue and red ink on right arm ; dressed in small plaid cloth trousers, dark mixture cloth jacket, rtd fl. nnel shirt, and a black fur American cap. The other, WILLIAM TAYLOR, sailor, a native of America, 23 years of age, 6 feet 11 inches high, rather long face, dark complexion, brown eyes, black hair, and small black moustache, scar umter lett jaw, Star and American flag ou right arm, eagle on left arm and star on hack of lett hand ; dressed iu dark ribbed cloth trousers, grey cl th jacket, puce- coloured woollen shirt, and a glaze l cap.
