W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. During the evenitvr of the 1st instant, a murderous assault was committed upon Mary Ann Ntinn, the housekeeper, at No. 2, Catherine- court, Tower Hill, London, and the sum of £ 2 Cd. stolen : by two hoys, of the following description, who have absconded ; ARTHUR FORRESTER SMITH, 15 years of age, and HECTOR AUGUSTUS SMITH, 13 years of age, brothers; both dressed in dark cloth jic'< ets, waistcoats, trousers, and caps, one of the caps was left behind ; both of these boys had light hair, and formerly lived with their parents at No. 66, Sutton- street, Commercial- road East, and lately at No. 9, Albion- place, Old Ford- street, Old Ford- road. A reward of £ 10 will be paid to any p^ r.- on who shall apprehend, or give such information as will lead to the apprehension, of each or either tf these bo> s. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, No. 2G, Old Jewry, E C — Boa- street, May 4. On the 4th ultimo, ELLEN PITCHFORD, about 12 years of age, was mining fr m her home at Darlaston, and on the morning of the 18th her body was found dead in the Tame Valley Canal, near the borders of Westbromwich and Great Birr, with matksof severe injury on the bead. A coroner's jury having returned a verdict of 4 Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' a reward of £ 100 will be a native of Derry, and ROSE ANN McGUIRE, alias CASEY, a native of Sligo, ate iu custody at Kendal, charged with committing the sail robbery. A man of the following description is also suspected, about, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, brown liair, and rather btout ; dressed in hlack cloth coat, vest, and trousers, and wore a low- crowned black hat. Stolen from the person at Hoylake, Cheshire, during the races, on the 25th instant : three silver lever Watches, one hunter, cream coloured dial, gold fingers, plain cases, maker Thomas W. Howard, Liverpool, No. 4624, another with engine turned cises, cream coloured dial, sunk seconds, name ' James Lowrie,' painted on the seconds dial forming the dot6, n. aker Richard Barne6, Liverpool, No. 1H45, and the other with gold joints, No. 4200, maker William Taylor, Woolton. Stolen from the person on the morning of the 20th instant, at Romford Essex, two Watches, one is an old- fashioned double cased silver, with Chain attached, the other is metal cised with Chain, and several brass Keys attached, maker ' Gout, No. 4485,' a Knife, Fork, and Spoon in handle, and 2s. in Silver : by a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, dark whiskers meeting under the chin, and sharp dark eyes ; dressed in an old flannel jacket, old drab cord trousers, rent in the seat, and old black billycock hat, and is known in Cheshunt, Herts. Between 8 p. m. of the 29 h and 5 a. m. ot the 30th ult., the office of the Cambrian Railway Company at Harlech Station, Merionethshire, was broken and entered through the window, and various articles stolen therefrom, which have been sold by a in an of the following description: from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, swaithy complexion, pug nose, yellowish face, dark brown hair and whiskers, and dressed in u bine pilot cloth jacket, ragged cord trousers, cloth cap with leather peak, old shoes much worn, and has the appearance of a tramp. On the 26th instant, the dead body of a newly born female child was found in the river Wey, in the borough of Guildford, wrapped in a piece of old white calico, and the skirt of an old dark coloured alpaca dress, a two pound iron weii ht was tied up in the calico, with notches on the bottom of it, each about half an inch in length, and the 16th part of an inch in depth. A coroner's jury have returned a verdict of wilful murder » gainst some person or persons unknown. BOBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen from the person of Mrs. Jane Davy, of Norwood, on the 1st instant, whilst standing in the Otley Market, a worsted Purse, various colours, with steel clasp, which is broken, containing one Half- crown, four Florins, and about nine Shillings. Stolen f > m tht> person of a lady in Kendal Market, in fhe county of Westmoreland, on the 11th instant, a brown leather Purse, containing a £ 10 Bank of England Note, new. 2 £ 5 Bank of England Notes, and 4 ffi Notes, of the Kendal and Westmoreland Banks : WILLIAM McGUIRE, alias CASEY, and heels, four or five nails out ot light shop, had socks in them cut out of an old felt hat; a black low- crowned hut; a t- a Towel ; a small piece ot cooked Beef, Cheese, Yorkshire Pudding, part of a small Loaf, also a sharp pointed white handled Knife. Supposed by a tramp who was seen iu the neighbourhood, about 6 feet 10 inches high, walks very erect, active looking ; diessed iu a striped red flannel shirt, cord or moleskin trousers, billycock hat, stiap round his waist, and without a coat. Information to be given to Inspector Coates, Woodstock, Oxon.— Hmo- strec, May 4. During the night of the 29th ultimo, the dwelling house of Joseph Smithin, at Wadborough, near Pershore, Worcester- shire, was broken into, and stolen therein : an electro plated letter Basket; a ditto Frame of a cream Jug; and a blue Sugar Basin, with electro plated frame. Information to be given to Superintendent Harris, Petshore, Worcestershire.— — Bow- street, May 1. Between 12 midnight on the 27th and 5 a. m. on the 28th instant, a dwelling- house at Petersfield was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen : an embossed silver Sugar Basin, with crest— a ruck, and monogram—' H II ;' a silver Fish Knife and Fork, with crest— a rock ; 8nd two small silver Tops of Cruets. Two men of the following description are suspected : one about 30 years of age, 6 feet. 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, very little whiskers, flat or broken nose; dressed in dark cloth clothes, high black hat, black necktie, white shirt, and thin boots, and is of shabhy. genteel appearance: the other abou 40 years of nge, about 6 feet 11 inches high, sandy hair and whiskers, and very good looking; dressed in a snuff- coloured overcoat, high black hat, and is of shabby- genteel appearance. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Hants Constabulary, Peteisfield.— Boi^- street, April 29. During the night, of the 16th instant, the vicarage at Alrewas, in the county of S1 afford, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen: a pocket Communion Service, contistii g of silver Batle, Cup, and Plate, on the latter is engraved • I. H. S.' ; two silver Tea Spoons, and a silver Mustard ditto, with crest— a griffin ; an old- fashioned single- cased lever Watch, creim col nited dial; two meerschaum Pipes, 40s in Silver, and some Postage Stamps, < fca., the pro perty ot the Rev. R K. Haselhurst. Information to li given to Superintendent Oswell, Burton on- Trent, Stffaordshie.— Boio- ttrcet, April 29, Further information respecting the burglaries, committed at, Honiton on the night of tbe 22nd instant^ advertise I in the Police Gazette of the 24th instant : a man of the following description is suspected : about SO years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, very fiir complexion, li- hr hair, light whiskers on lower part of the face, the sides of his face smooth, and has a very striking and peculiar appearauce and expression of countenance, and very fair skin, tattooed on the wrist, supposed with indian ink ; dressed in a eoft b > w! er hat. drab cloth j- icket, bedford cord trousers, dark wais'coa', and lace up buo s, and had a quantity of matches loose in his pocket. He was seen at Houitoii on the evening of the 2iiud instant, and can be identified. Information to be given to Superintendent Dore, Honiton, Devonshire.— Bov itnxt, April 27. On the night of the 21st inst., or early the next morning, the dwelling- house ( if Mr. R Blundell, of Hallon, in the parish of Worfield, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein : a blue pilot Topcoat, single- breasted, black silk buttons, and a velvet collar ; a silk Ilat, the baud turned, maker E Perry, Dudley- stre- t, Wolverhampton ; three Coins, viz., a half- crown ot George 11 or III and two American silver coins; two silver Tea Spoons, marked ' B.' in old English; three pairs of Boots, viz.. on.) pair of men's wa- ertight lace- np boots, sprigged, and nearly new, one pair of men's plain elastic- side boots, pegged, about half worn, each boot with one new elastic side ; an alpaca Umbrella, with crooked handle, much worn; and a vanished oak Walking- stick, round handle. Supposed by two men : one from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or C inches high, sandy hair and whiskers ( mostly on chin), flat broken nose, and round chubby face ; dressed in a grey pilot or plain clotu overcoat, supposed light waistcoat, and glazed or blue cloth cap with brass button on each aide of the peak : tbe other from - 25 to 30 > tars oi age, 5 feet 8 ox 9 inches iiiglv'dsrk or randj whiskers, chin shaded, or stern appearance, proportionate make ; dressed in dark suit. These men came from Wolverhampton to Bridgnorth, on the night of the robbery, and carried a leather case, about 20 inches by 10. Whoever will give sue'. information as shall lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the offenders shal on such conviction, receive a reward of £ 30 fjotn W. t, Davenport, Esq,, aud £ 5 from Mr. Blundell, over and above the ;£ l5 allowed by tbe Stock'on Association for the Prosecution of Felons; and if such informant be an accomplice, he or she shall not only be entitled to receive the above reward, hut have every means exerted to procure a free pardon. During the night of the 18th instant, two dwelling- houses at Wantage, Berks, were broken and entered, and stolen there- in : a plain silver Chalice, about 8 or 9 inches high, a star with ' l. ll. S.' engraved on the side ; a red glass Cruet, silver mounted, the lid opens with a hinge; two plain silver Table Spoons. ' J. W.* engraved on the handles; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, old fashioned, figured round the edges; eight plain silver Tea Spoons, ol 1 - fashioned. Supposed by two men : one is ab ut 27 years of ape, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, little or no whiskers, and dressed in a dark coat, blue cloth cap with glazed peak, strap in front, and brasB button on each side, leather b- lt round his waist, and dirty appearance ; the other is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or inches high, fair complexion, small black whiskers and beard, and stout make ; dres- ed iu a dark brown coat, black billycock hat, and is ol dirty appearance ; both were like tramping smiths or foundry men. A'soondtd from Harwell, Durham, on the 23rd ultimo, ROBERT SWINBURNE ROBINSON, secretary to the Harwell Gas and Water Company, Limited, charged with embezzling tbe sum of 474 belonging to tlie said company ; he is about 10 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, thin light whiskers, proportionate figure; dressed in a felt I at, black velvet shooting cmt and vest, and light tweed trousers ; it is supposed lie is in Dublin, where several of his relations reside.
