Notice.— It ia requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving nformation respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, PoUce Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As BO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Ma London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. about £ 5 in Gold. Also about 7 p. m. at the Eagles Inn, CorweD, from the person of Mary Edwards, a dark morocco leather Satchel, containing an old fashioned verge Watch, large size, one finger appears brighter than the other, and a common brass Key ( new) attached to the watch, with a plaited leather shoelace, and a bill inside the outer cases. ' Robert Joyce, watchmaker, Ruthin, Is. 6d.' Information to be given to Inspector Hughes, Bala, or to Sergeant Williams, Corwen. — Bow street, March 16. Stolen from the person of Clarke Burton, on the 10th inst., at Grantham, a silver lever hunting Watch, marked ' R. H. Sexty,' with silver dial, No. 879G. Supposed by a young man, about 21 years of age, 5 fee' 4 inches high ; dressed in a dark coat, light tweed trousers, Scotch cap, and stated that he was a tramping boilermaker. Information to be given to Superintendent Rudkin, Grantham, Lincolnshire.— Bow- ttreet, March 16. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING About half- past 2 a. m. on the 20th instant, a stack of wheat straw, the produce of about 8 acres, was discovered to be on fire, in the stack yard belonging fo Mr. F. Winter, at the township of Bonwick, in the East Riding of York, and the whole was consumed. Supposed by some tramp, who had been sleeping in the same, as a small bundle tied to the end of a stick was found in a ditch adjoining the stackyard, and the marks as if some person had got over the fence ( having dropped the bundle whilst crossing the ditch) were observed. In the bundle, which was tied up in an old dirty cotton handkerchief, red and white small check pattern, much faded, was an unbleached calico shirt, nearly new, but in a very filthy dirty state, as if it had been worn for a length or time ; also a short clay tobacco pipe, and a few matches. Information to be given to Superintendent Wright, East Riding Constabulary Station, Leven, near Beverley, Yorkshire.— Bow- st., March 23. During the night of the 8th instant, an outbuilding at the Van Farm, near Llanidloes, the property of the Right Hon. Earl Vane, was completely destroyed by fire ; a quantity of Corn and Hay, thirteen young Cattle, and various Agricultural Implements, belonging to Mr. Giles Mills, the tenant, were alBO completely destroyed. Supposed by an incendiary. £ 25 reward will be paid to any person who will give such informa- tion and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Welshpool; to Superintendent Danily, Newtown ; or to Sergeant Owen, Llanidloes, Mont- gomeryshire.— Bow- street, March 16. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Newport Pagnell, Bucks, on the 20th instant, during the Steeple Chases, a double cased gold bunting Watch, capped and jewelled, glass loose, seconds hand deficient, the property of William Broyton, of Buckingham, licensed hawker. Also a gold Geneva hunting Watch, marked ' A. W. P. J.' on the outer case, the property of A. W. P. Jervis, Esq., of Sherington. Information to be given to Super- intendent Hedley, Fenny Stratford, or Inspector Hall, Newport Pagnell.— Bow- street, March 23. Stolen from the person of a gentleman while oc the Rugby Race Course, on the 16th instant, an old fashioned gold Watch, black letters, on the inside is engraved 1 George Worth, Ware,' maker Riley, Coventry. Information to bo given to Superintendent Wild, Rugby.— Bow- street, March 20. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Brighton, on the night ot the 8 h instant, a large gold Chronometer, with white enamelled dial, with a small piece chipped off near the figure 6, maker Baker, No. 1270; a gold albert Chain, the Prince of WaleB pattern, and a gold fusee Box attached. Whoever will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property, shall receive .£ 10 reward. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton,— Bow- street, March 20. Stolen on the 12th instant, from the person of a gentleman at Sale Moor, a gold lever hunting Watch, makers Hunt and Roskell, No. 11392, has ' L. T. Y.' engraved on centre of case back, and black silk Guard attached. £ 5 reward will be paid on conviction ot the offender or offenders, and recovery of the Watch. Information to be given to Detective Inspector Britnor, Sale, Cheshire.— Bow- street, March 16. Stolen about 12- 40 p. m. on the 12th instant, at Corwen, from the person of Catherine Jones, of Glyn, Llandrillo, Merionethshire, a black leather Purse, containing £ 8 in Gold, and 3s- or 4s. in Silver. Also about 5 p. m. on the same day, at the Corwen Railway Station, from the person of Thomas Lloyd, of Llidiart- y- Park, near Corwen, a canvas Purse, containing BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. On the night of the 19th instant. Quedgley House, near Gloucester, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein : two old fashioned ornamented silver drawing- room Candlesticks, with square tops and bottoms, about one foot in length, one weighing 25 and the other 26 ounces; a small silver filagree Candlestick, about 8 inches high, round or oval bottom, and representing a sailor holding a taper. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and full value will also be given for any part of the property recovered. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Griffin, Gloucester.— Bow- street, March 23. Between 9 and 11 a. m. on the 18th instant, the cottage of William White, labourer, situate at Rangeworthy, Glouces- tershire, was broken and enterod dnring t. he absence of the inmates, and the following property stolen therein : a black cloth Coat, with velvet collar, pockets at the sides without fl ps, and one breast pocket outside ; a black cloth Vest, with black bone buttons : a very old thin Sixpence ; a very old silver Coin, supposed to be an eighteenpenny piece ; and 6s. in Money. Supposed by a tramp who was seen near the house about the time mentioned : from 22 to 26 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, light sandy complexion, rather full face ; dressed in a rough dark cloth round coat and cloth cap. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Ellison, Constabulary Office, Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire— Bowst., March 23. Between 10 pm. on the 19th and 6 a. m. on the 20th inst., a shoemaker's workshop in the village of Eglwysfach, Denbigh- shire, was broken and entered, supposed by tramps, and the I following property stolen therein : a pair of Wellington Boots, newly fronted ; three pairs of new strong lace- up Boots, full aizn, with lace holes not punched ; a pair of women's leather Boots, new ; and a pair of men's elastic side Boots new soles and heels. Information to be given to Superintendent Ham- monds, Constabulary Office, Llanrwst, North Wales.— Bow- street, March 23. On the night of the 21st instant, Whiteley Wood Hall, the residence of Samuel Plimsoll, Esq., was burglariously • ntered, and the following property stolen therein : 2 old fashioned silver Teapots, one plain, the other having a small border round the lid. 1 old- fashioned silver Coffee Pot. with a border round the top, the knob representing a pine apple. 1 silver Toast Rack, ivy leaf and berry pattern. 2 silver Gravy Spoons, plain pattern. 2 silver Soup Ladles, plain pattern. 1 silver soup Ladle, buffalo haft. 4 silver Table Spoons. 4 silver salt Spoons, cockle shell pattern. 6 silver dessert Spoons. 1 silver caddy Spoon. 1 silver sugar Crusher. 1 dozen Bilver Tea Spoons, having the letter ' R.' engraved thereon. 1 dozen silver large 4 prong Forks. 1 dozen silver small 4 prong Forks. 2 dozen silver halfted table Knives. 1 dozen silver hafted Desserts. 1 silver Pickle F< » rk, striped handle. 1 silver Fish Slice. 1 silver Sugar Bason and Tongs, having Mr. Plimsoll's name and a presentation inscription engraved thereon 6 small silver Tea Spoons. 1 silver Butter Knife, ivory handle, and flowered blade. 1 silver hafted carving Knife and Fork. 1 silver hafted game Carver. 2 silver ( or plated) bread Baskets, one being plain, the other ivy leaf pattern. 1 round silver- plated Waiter. 2 silver- plated Candelabras. with three lights. J dozen dessert Knives and forks, ivory handles. 1 carving Knife and Fork. Most of'he articles are marked with Mr. Plimsoll's crest— Eagle and snake. Information to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Central Police Offices Sheffield.— Bora- rt,, March 23. About 10 p. m. the 16th instant, the dwelling- house of T. T. Lawden, Esq., at ' The Woodlands,' Northfield, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein; a gentleman's breast Pin, with two likenesses ; a gold Pin, set with two teeth; a cluster diamond Ring, seven diamonds ; a gold Brooch, with pearls and emeralds ; a gold Ring, with pearls and rubies ; a gold tie Brooch, with three turquoise ; an old fashioned gold Watch ; a silver ditto ; a gold Ring, with opal and two pearls ; a gentleman's gold Ring, Bhield shape, blood stone, not large; and a four barrelled Revolver, Sharp's repeater. 20 guineas reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the c Sender or offenders, on applica- tion to T. T. Lawden, Esq., as above, or at the Detective Office, Moor- street, Birmingham.— Bow- street, March 20. Between 10 30 p. m. on the 16th and 7 a. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Emma Williams, No. 11, Augustus- street, Stretford, near Moss Side, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein : three white linen Tablecloths, about yard square ; three worsted Tablecloths, one dark and crimson, another black and crimson, the other green and drab ; a blue pilot cloth Overcoat, velvet collar, lined with black alpaca, black cloth buttons, two pockets in the laps with flaps, and one inside breast; a long Enfield Rifle, No. 202 ; a boy's old pilot cloth Jacket; a boy's mixture cloth Vest, bound with black braid; a woman's plain brown winsey Dress; six large Knives, a Carving Knife and Fork, two email Forks, and five small Knives, all electro- plated. Information to be given to the Superintendent of the County Police, Old Trafford, near Manchester.— Bow- st., March. 18. Between 12 p. m. on the 16th and 6 a. m. on the 17th inst., the dwelling house of Mr. Gover, of Sherborne, was forcibly entered, and the following property stolen therein : 22 silver § poons. six Table, three Dessert, ten Tea, two Salt, and one Mustard, 1 pa r of silver Sugar Tongs, all marked ' G.'; 5 plated Forks, three large, two small, marked ' G.' Also at the same time, from the dwelling- house of Mr. Nutt, at Sherborne, a pair of Bedford cord hunting Trousers, buttons marked ' Arnold ;' 4 fourpenny Pieces, ot the first coinagc ; 1 Halfcrown, of George III's reign, appears new. It formation to be given to Superintendent Watts, Dorset Con- etabulary, Sherborne.— Oxm- nrcct, March 18. Between 11 p. m. on the 12th, and 6 a. m. on the 13th inst., the dwelling- house of Andrew Bell, grocer, Kirkby Stephen, Westmoreland, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : ahout 10s. worth of Copper, a large quantity of which is of the old coinage, some of the pennies and halfpennies have been in the fire, and are thicker on one side, and can be identified, also 1 or 2 fourpenny Pieces, and a threepenny Piece ; a plum Pastry, in a square baking tin ; and an apple Tart, in a round blue and white earthenware dish. The desk from which the money was stolen was found in a garden behind the premises, broken open with a screwdriver or chisel. Information to be given to Superintendent Parks. Appleby, Westmoreland, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle.— Boic street, March 16. Between 12 midnight and 6 a. m. on the 14th instant, a dwelling house at Rusholme, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen : a man's grey mixture Overcoat, two pockets outside skirts, and one inside left breast, lined with black alpaca, black buttons ; a blue pilot reefer Overcoat, lined with black alpaca, black buttons; two damask Tablecloths, drab and green pattern ; an electro- plated Cruet Stand ; ten ditto Tea Spoons, marked ' E.;' twelve ditto Dessert Spoons, marked ' E.;' a ditto Gravy Spoon, a silver Table Spoon, an electro- plated Soup Ladle, a Cheese Knife with ivory handle, an ornamental Timepiece, stands on four feet, man with- a spade in hand, standing in a resting position against the cloak. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, County Constabulary Office, Old Trafford, near Manchester.— — Bow- street, March 16. Between 11 p. m. on the 12th and 7 a m. on the 13' J> inst, a dwelling- house at Stretford was entered, and the following property stolen : a black Reefer Jacket, black silk velvet collar, pocket on each hip, two rows of black hon buttons, and lined with black alpaca ; a green silk Umbrella, small hole in cover, light brown stick ; a grey tweed Scarf Shawl, much worn ; and six common Tea Spoons, marked ' W. P.* (• B.' underneath). Information to be given to tha Superiaten- dent of Police, County Constabulary Office, Old Trafford, naar Manchester.— Boic- street, March 16. During the night of the 11th instant, tha house of Mrs Drummond Hay, Southend street, Ledbury, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein: two silver Tea Spoons, two Salt ditto, crest— a man with, a yoke on his shoulders, and buckets ; a Table Spoon, marked ' M. L.' Information to be given to Superintendent Tanner, Ledbury, Herefordshire.— Bow- stre « t, March 16. Early on the morn'ng of the 13th instant, the shop of Mr. Evans, outfitter, Chester, was entered through the roof, and the following property stolen therein : 1 dark brown mixture pea Jacket, lined with black alpaca, 1 blue cloth pea Jacket, lined with dark woollen plaid. 6 black cloth shooting Coats, man's size. 6 pairs of mixture cloth Trousers, various sizes. 1 pair of woollen cord Trousers. 8 or 10 printed flannel Shirts, various patterns. Several black and coloured Vests. 3 beaver cloth Overcoats, boy's size. 3 coloured Mufflers. And a few deerstalker Hats. As the thieves left behind them two snits of old clothing, they will be wearing some of the stolen property. £ 2 reward will be paid on recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Ahout 3 a m. on the 13th instant, the premises of the London and touutv Bank, Winchester, were broken and entered and ihe following articles stolen therein : a fiih Slice and Knife, ivory hauJle, plated, nine plated dinner Knives and ten Forks, ivory handles, a pair ot silver sugar Tongs, marked ' Y,' a silver mustard Spoon, a silver Thimble, and tour new plated table Spoons. A lock- Up shop in Chester was broken and entered through the roof early on the morning of the 13th instant, and « quautity of ready made clothing, consisting of woo leu Shirts, Coats and Vests, cloth and woollen cord Trousers, round Hats, several monkey Jackets, boys' Over- coats, and cotton Shirts stolen therein. By two tramps, as two suits of old clothing were left behind ; every article they are now wearing ( except their boots) will be new, and one or both of them will have a bundle. The dwelling- house of James Kemp, in the parish of Speldhurst. was broken and entered on the 11th instant, and the following property stolen therein : 1 silver double bottom hunter Watch. 1 silver Geneva hunter do. 1 do. open face do., No. 26084, ' Bennett, Cheapside,' on dial and back. 1 do. dial Geneva do., joint of back case repaired. 2 do. pair case do., one with 1 M. B- nnett' on outer case. 1 do. double case verge hunter do., No. 99884. 2 large Brooches, one with large purple stone, the other small do. Also seven German silver Guards. Stolen from a stable be'onging to William Johnson, coach proprietor, Sloane- street, Moss Side, between 12 midnight, 10th, and 6- 30 a m on the 11th instamt, a light grey Horse, 8 years old, neatly 16 hands higlr, tail cut fch > rt, white mane, hair rubbed off at near tide with saddle, a sore on the top of the hoof of the r car fore foot, having been pricked, on the shoes will he the name of ' L imb or patent..' Suspicion is attached to two men, one about 40 years of age, 5 feet C or 7 inches higv , dark complexion, long features, black hair and dark whiskers ; dressed in a blue guernsey, cord trousers, and mole- skin sleeved vest. Found straying in the borough of Guildford, on the 6th instant, and tupposed to have been stolen, a small iron- grey mare Pony, about 4 years old, long mane and tail, and has shoes on. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the borough of Staly- Hridge, early on the morning of the ( ith instant, a black cloth Jacket, a giey cloth Jacket, woman's size, two pairs of cotton drawers, a lady's Muff, a Belt, a pair ot kid Gloves, a la- ge sized Brooch, with small glass in the centre, a Locket, with gold Cham, and three Sovereigna in mouey. By a domestic servant, named ELIZABETH YEWELL, a native of Denby Dale, near Dewsbury, Yorkshire ; about 19 years of age, tali and thin, brown hair, long features, and large eyes ; dressed in b ack velvet bonnet, with green ribbon, and supposed the stolen j . cket. Stolen between 3 and 4 p. m. on the 20th instant, from No 72, Broad- street, Reading, £ 17 in Gold and the tin Dr- wer of a cashhox, the property ot Mr. William Hemmings.
