WOOD, and states that he is a native ot Nottingham, 35 years of age, 6 fret Oj inch high, swarthy complexion hazel eyes, sandy hair and whisker*, proportionate built, stiff joint fore- finger left hand ; dressed in mi old brown cloth slack back coat, with white slop under, old black cloth trousers, red comforter, black soft billycock hat and clogs. Also of JAMES MCCABE, committed tor trial at the same sessions, charged with stealing from A beer house : he is about 23 years of a. e, 6 feet 3 inches high, rather small features, brown hair, slight, brown whiskers, veiy slight moustache, and aharp brown eyes ; dressed in black cloth coat, white slop with band round underneath, white cord trousers, with a cord patch on left knee, elastic- side boots, and black cloth cap, all tar worn. , They both appear to have a good knowledge of different parts of the country, Liverpool in particular, it is suspected they have given fictitious names, and tl> wt t) iey_ have, been' conviced, and committed offences elsewhere. Stolen during the night of the 4th instant, from a stable at Baddenhall, the property of Mr. William Ford, 4 ornamental Brasses for bridles, two hearts, one star, and one plain square ; 1 black whalebone Whip, with several brass ferrules. Also from a stable at. Haddenhall, the property of Mr. Wm. Lawton, 1 ornamental Brass for bridle, in shape of a wheat sheat, 1 brown whalebone Whip, with brass ferrules. Also from a stable at Cold Meece. the property of Mr. Thomas Toon, a Spade, marked ' T. O.,' and a pair of leather Mittens Also from a stable at Cold Meece, the property of Mr. Geo. Hand, 1' plain square ornamental Brass for bridle, and a throat Strap. Supposed by a tramp, who called at the above places on the same night, about 60 y ears of age, 5 teet 9 or 10 inches high, rather stout, hair turning grey, and was carrying his left arm in a sling ; dressed in a light drab ja ket, and coid trousers. Stolen in the borough of Blackburn : From No. 3, Lambert- street, Higher Audley, between 9 a. m. and 0 p. m. on the 4th ultimo, 2 lbs. of Sugar, lb. of Butter, 3 loaves of Bread, a pair of youth's new blucher Shoes, with three brass lace- holes in each side, the property of Alexander Haydock. The shoes were found pledged at J. R. Parkinson's pawnshop, Great Bolton- street, N. S., on the 4th ultimo : by a man who gave the name of WILLIAM HOWARD, Nova Scotia, about 20 years ot age, dark complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high ; dressed in corduroy clothes. From No. 3, Cleaver street, at 0 a. m. on the 11th ultimo, a man's black aud white plaid woollen neck Scarf, a puce and white woollen Handkerchief, a woman's black and white Belt with steel backles, set with little white buttons, a black jet coral neck Chain, a Brooch, a woman's hair Net, the property of John Cook, lodging- house keeper; by a girl, about 15 years of age, fresh comjiTl^ n, pock pitted, light hair, stout built; dressed in a black white dress, much faded, black and white plaid shawl, ^ Htic side boots, is supposed to have gone to Bury or Wigam : xhe gave the name of MARGARET, and said she had lived at' Italian John's' near Mr. Walker's foundry, Earl- street, Bury. From the watch- house, at Mr. Bennington's mill, Audley' Range, between the 9th and ltth ultimo, a'blue woollen scarf Shawl, one side blue, and the other white with a chintz border, the property of Martha Holden. From No 58, High- street, Nova Scotia, on the 11th ultimo, a Shawl, drab middle. peach border, torn about eighteen inches from the bottom, newly washed, the property of Grace Ainsworth. From a back- yard, No. 8, Duckworth- street, at 630 p. m. on the 13th ultimo, a pair of cotton cord Trousers, newly washed, slightly torn between the legs, the property ot Mary Foster. '' From the footpath, in Eanam, between 6 and 7 p. m. on the 19th. ultimo, a dolly Tub, five iron hoops round the same, painted yellow, one handle on- each side at the top, the property of Mary Duckworth, widow. From a fishdealer's shop, in Shorrock Fold, on the 3rd ultimo, a Truck, by a man who came under the pretence of borrowing it for a few minutes, and then took it to a furniture broker, and sold it : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, frish complexion, a'i^ ht light whiskers ; dressed in a brown cloth coat, corduroy trousers, billycock hat, and strong shoes. From off a wall, at No. 10, Dock- street, Higher Eanam, at 6- 30 p. m. on the 19' h ultimo, a corduroy Jacket, boy's size, nearly new, with three white pearl buttons on the front, the property of Ann Martin From a cabinet maker's shop, in Fleming- square,' between 12 and 1 p. m, on the 26th ultimo, a youth's blue pilot cloth Jacket, two pockets outside, and one inside left breast, one black horn button on lined with black alpaca, marked in eilt letters inside the collar ' J. Till,' the property of Dr. Brooks, No. 36, Penny street. The property has since been found pledged at. Mr. Leigh's pawnshop, in Northgate, by a man, about 22 years of agfc, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a light coat. From a shop door, at Nq. 60 King- street, at 7 30 p. m. on the 27th ultimo, a man's checked Shirt, five plaits in front, the property of Thomas Knowles, draper : by a man about 24 years of age, fresh complexion ; dressed in a dark loose jacket, blue cap, and was observed to run up Leyland- street, at the time the robbery was committed. From a saddle- room in High street, Salford, on the 6th ult., a pair of moleskin Overalls, the property of William White- head, No 3, Well- street, by a middle aged man, dark com- plexion, black billycock hat, brown coat, and Wellington boots ( clogged). The property has since been found sold to William Leaver, old clothes' dealer, No. 20, Whalley Banks, on the 15th ultimo. Stolen from a pheasantry in the parish of Cuckfield, on the ni « ht of tbe 7th instant, the property of Capt. C. Borrer, nine hen and two cock Pheasants, each < pck has a white wing round its neck, and one hen is of a lighter colour than the others. Information to he given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes; or to Superintendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex.— Bow- street, Ma'ch 9. Stolen during the night of the 28th ultimo, from the farm premises of John Pulleine, of Flixborough Stather, about ten couples of live Fowls, of the common farm- yard breed, about an equal number of Stags and Pullets, the greater part of them of a dark aud speckled colour, supposed by boatmen. Also stolen between the 25th ultimo and the 3rd instant, 20 Sncks, marked thus, ' J. P. | F.' and ' I. P. | F.' the whole of them nearly new, some of them made of hemp, and some of jute, supposed by boatmen. Stolen between 6 30 and 8 30 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, from No. 44, Lee- terrace, Lee : 7 gold Rings, three antique, three mourning, one chased borders ; one a single stone brilliant, the stone about two carats, one a lady's pearl, ' S.' in centre, ' To ihe memory of Thomas Sowerby,' one a puzzle, forms four small ones when in pieces. 2 gold Geneva Watches, ' Attenborough' on face of one. 1 Prince ot Wales gold bar pattern Albert Chain, ' W.' in old English in a garter. 1 plain gold Pin. 1 old- fashioned chased silver Teapot, ivory handle and button. 1 Gravy Spoon, 3 Dessert Spoons, and 3 Forks, all silver, crest— a double threaded shell. 3 electro- plated Forks, crest— a tree, with heart suspended. 2 blue enamelled Studs, star in brilliants in centre. 1 gold double Eyw- glass. 1 black leather Dressing Bag, with fittings, 8 inches long by 5 inches deep. — Metropolitan Police, R Division, March 6. Stolen on the 25th ultimo, from the Barracks at Winches- ter, an old- fashioned goid Watch, ornamented with flowers, at the back, a Chain, Key, and a Seal, stone in seal, with ' C. M.' on one side, and pencil and pen case. Information to be given to Head Constable Hubbersty, Winchester.— Bow- s!., March 6. Stolen from the . Granary of Daniel Howard, Esq., at Batchworth Heath Farm, during the night of the 29th ultimo, a double barrelled Gun, makers ' Rippon & Burton,' of Regent- street. Also another double barrelled Gun, the property of Charles Smith, was formerly a flint gun, the stock is ribbed, and on the la> ge end ot the ramrod is a brass ferrule. Stolen from a dray at the Midland Station, Sheffield, since the 19th ultimo, a Cask, containing 28£ dozen pocket Knives, various sorts and sizes ; 6 sets tip Knives, three Dessert, three Table ; 3 dozen Butter Knives, two dozen rose handles, one dozen ebony handles ; 2 dozen Rnzo s ; and 3 dozen Table Spoons. Stolen lrom a dwelling- house at Frank ley, in the parish of Bradford, Wilts, between 8 and 11 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, the following property : About £ 16 in Gold and Silver. A silver Aloert Chain, with Key attached. A gold Pin in tbe shape of a horseshoe. A >; old Locker, the size of a fourptnny piece. A mahogany Snuff box, in the shape of a shoe. A pair ot Stirruo Irons and a Snaffle bit. A catgut, Riding Whip, with brass crook at the end. Two Razors, with dark handles, in a case. Two Files, one dark colour, with silver mounting, the other lrght brown. A small round marble Inkstand. A small mahogauy Tea Caddy. A piece of Malacca Cane, about a yard ih length. Some Postage aud Receipt Stamps. Entrance was effrcied by breaking a pane of glass in the window, during the absence of tbe tainily. Stolen on the morning of tbe 2nd'instant. from the tramp ward at the Faringdon Union, the property of Thomas Field, a tramping tailor, a native of Colan, Cornwall: adark blue pea Jacket, bound with velvet braid, a pair of light drab Trousers, a pair of blue tweed Trousers, a pair of Stockings, a pair of side si ring Boots, and a pair of Scissors : supposed by a tramp- ing sailor, who absconded trom the Union during the night, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light complexion ; supposed dressed in the stolen jacket and trousers and Scotch cap. Stolen from a public- house in Wisbech, between the 26th ultimo and the 1st instant, the following wearing apparel: a pair of grey mixture Trousers, a buff Waistcoat, small size, and a fancy silk Scarf : supposed by a man, who slept in the house, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, ginger whiskers and moustache ; dressed in dark coat and trousers, white slop or jacket underneath, and dark cloth cap, with French peak, and fays he is an engine fitter. Information to be given to Head Constable Sharpe, Police Station, Wisbech, Cambs.— Bow- strea, March 4. Between 2 and 3 p. m. on the 2nd instant, the cottage of Thomas Cook, blacksmith, Merstham, was entered by the window, which had been left unfastened, and the following property stolen : a silver hunting Watch, No. 7755,' Thomas Cook, Great Packington,' engraved inside ; a gold Guard Chain, a silver ditto, and a pair of elastic- side Boots, with five or seven imitation eyelet- holes in front. Supposed by two inen : one is ahout 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, and dressed in brown coat and trousers, and cap with peak ; the other is between 30 and 40 yeais of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, aud dressed in dark coat and trousers, and cap.
