IVotfee.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving nformation respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may ( tear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and Bworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as tliOBe from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Ma }). London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURSEE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Absconded Jfrom Barford, on the 8th ultimo, GEORGE CRACK, under gamtkeeper, charged with maliciously cutting and wounding Horace Blyth : about 20 years of age, 6 feet inches high, proportionate make, light brown haii^ no whiskers, freth complexion, generally looks downwards, slightly deaf; dressed in black coat, iow- crowned black hat, light trousers, and boots abova the knees ; of clean appearance. Information to be given to Superintendent Barrett, Wymond- ham, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Decentber 2. On the forenoon of the 18th instant, two of Lord Kinnaird's game watchers were wilfully shot at and wounded in a park on the farm of B illo, in the parish of Longforgan, county of Perth, by two men of the following description : DAVID ROBERT- SON, mason, Dundee ( formerly of the Green Tree, Blairgowrie), about 24 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair hair, fair and small w hiskers, thin face, and fair complexion ; dressed in a light grey tweed polka jacket, tweed vest, and trousers of a darker colour, and a Balmoral bonnet. ALEXANDER M'NAB, Dundee, about 26 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 0 inches high, dark hair, dark or brownish tuft on chin, thin face, and fair complexion ; dressed in a fine light grey suit of tweed, and Balmoral bonnet. Both bonnets wanted the ribbons behind. They had a large brown- coloured lurcher dog with them, and each carried a double barrelled gun with clear polished barrels, and a reddish- coloured cloth game bag. A sheriff's warrant has been issued for their apprehension. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Perth.— Bow- street, Nov. 25. Description of LUKE GILMARTIN, charged under a coroner's warrant with the Wilful Murder, by stabbing, of bis w;. fe on the night of 18th instant, at Manchester : he is about 36 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, auburn hair cut short, sandy whiskers, round face, much freckled, active appearance, and is of Irish parents; dressed in dark clothes and black billycock hat. He is a hawker of brushes and fancy mats, and has been America, where it is suspected he is making for. Information to be given to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Town Hall, King- Btreet, Manchester.— Bou>- 8lreet, November 22. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING- On the night of the 21st instant, a fire broke out upon the premises of Mr. Edward Faulkner, of Ludgershall, Bucks, carrier, burning a cow- house, an open shed, a rick of wheat straw, and part of a hayrick, supposed to be the act of an in- cendiary. £ 10 reward will be paid by Mr. Richard Faulkner to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Shepherd, Steeple Claydon, Winslow, Bucks, or to Inspector Markham, Police Station, Brill, Thame.— Bow- street, November 27. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON Stolen on the night of the 29ih ultimo, at Chelmsford, from the person of Henry Millbank, farmer, of Willingale Spain, three £ 10 notes, Nos. 83108, 83189, 83190, payable at the London and County Bank, Branch at Chelmsford. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Simpson, Police Station, Springfield, Chelmsford, Essex.— Bow- street, Dec. 2. Description of a man charged with stopping Mary Halli- day, of Exton, on the footway between that village and Burley, about 10 a. m. on the 27th instant, and stealing from her a Sovereign : he is about 30 or 35 years of age, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, rather strong make, dark hair, and large whiskers and moustache ; dressed at that time in an old Bhort dark coat ( cairied another on his arm), old dark trousers torn at both knees, and old daik tall hat; he is a dirty rough- looking tramp, and was seen begging shortly before. Infor- mation to be given to the Chief Constable, Oakham, Rutland, who will pay £ 2 reward ou his apprehension and conviction. — Iloic- streH, November 29. Stolen from the person of Robert Simpson, on the 23rd instant, a silver pair- cased Watch, No. 2308, maker R. J. Foxon, Alford, had a steel chain with a model half sovereign, and a model penny attached, the watch is nearly a new one. Information to be given to Head Constable Robert?, Louth, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, November 29. Stolen on° the 20th instant, from the person of a young lady.: a gold English lever Watch, embossed at the back, J. Fagg, No. 12276, gold albert Chain attached, cable pattern. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Saunders, Police Station, Margate, Kent.— Bow- street, November 27. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 10 p m on the 29; h and 8' 15 on the 30th ultimo, the lock- up, shop, and premises of Mr. Elijah Swales, watch- maker, Wigan, was feloniously entered by forcing the window of tbe second story, and the following property stolen therein : 9 gentlemen's gold Guards, various patterns. 4 lady's gold Guards, various patterns. 16 gentlemen's gold Albert Chains, various pattern. All the above articles are stamped 9- carat, and had attached a small brass label with the price scratched thereon. 120 pair of bright gold Ear- rings on cards, the words ' Fine gold, warranted,' and the price in figures written ' thereon. 61 bright gold Lockets, various siz? s. 21 gentlemen's bright gold scarf Pins. 18 22- carat gold wedding Rings. 29 gold Seals and Keys of various patterns, with stones of various colours and quality. 17^ doz. of gentlemen's gold plated scarf Pins. 9 gentlemen's Albert hair Guards, gold plated mountings. 3 gentlemen's gold plated Albert Chains. 4 round silver Pencil- Cases. 12 silver Tooth- Picks. 40 pairs of jet Ear- rings, with the words ' Real Jet' printed thereon. 20 jet Brooches. About 5 doz. brass, steel, and nickel silver fob Chains. 1 set of 16 carat gold sleeve Links, collar Stud, and breast Studs to match, with carbuncle Btones. 1 plain gold collar Stud and breast Studs. 2 G - rinau silver Cases for watches. The Movements of two verge watches, makei's name of one, Quartre au Lochle, Paris, the other, Mansfield & Co., London, No. 930 ; also the Movement of a patent lever watch, maker Robt. Roskell, Liverpool, i No. 22255. i 1 doz. of Pocket and Pen Knives, with various coloured hafts, some stamped on the heel of the blade ' W. Grey & Sons, Sheffield,' and others ' H. Grey 8c Sons, I Sheffield.' The offender or offenders left on the premises a small japanned dark lamp, with bright tin top, which, it has been ascertained, was put on in Wigan by a tinman the day previous; a steel file, one end a screwdriver, and a small jemmy made out of a round file. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person or persons who shall give such information as shall lead to the apprehen- 1 sion and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the acnount recovered. A briar- root Pipe. Four persons of the following description are suspected : one about 17 years of age, 5 * 3 or 4 inches high, light hair, and thick lips : another, ab 7 years of 8ge, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, round pale face, i > lack hair: another, 20 years of eg*, 6 feet 6 inches higu , dressed in a brown coat, block bowler hat, d rty light linen apron, and wears a ring on little finger of left hand : the other, 21 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, slender build, and appears sickly. Information to be given to Superintendent Denson, Police Office, Aylesbury.— Bow- street, Deecm'er 2. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 24th instant, the dwelling- house of the Rev. J. Button, of Kenilworth, was broken into, and the following property Btolen therein : a silver half- pint drinking Cup, initials ' J. C. B.;' two plain silver Table Spoons ; two plain silver Tea Spoons ; a silver Tea Caddy Spoon ; a silver lever Watch ; two silver Pencilcases ; a gold Signot Ring, sardonyx stone, engraved with crest— a wyvern, erect ; a lady's Ring, with circular stone, inside of bow strengthened with a plate ; a pair of Sugar Tongs, silver, trellis pattern ; four old Coins of Queen Ann, 6s piece, 2s. 6d., Is, and 6d.; a Bilver Cream Jug, p'ain ; a lady's trinket Telescope Slide, about an inch long, circular, set with Btones of three colours, an'? embossed. Information to be given to Inspector Callaway, Warwickshire Constabulary, Kenilwortb.— Bow street, November 27. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a field at Oldbury, near Bridgnorth, on the night of the 29th ultimo, or on the following morning : a bay horse Colt, 2 years old rising 3, about 13 hands high, with a white blaze on forehead, hai been shod ar. d ridden a few times, bang tail, the property of Mr. E. W. Hazlewood, of Bridgnorth, Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins. County Police Station, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.— Bow- street, Dec. 2. Stolen on the night of the 22nd or on the morning of the 23rd ultimo, out of a lane leading from Rempstone to Wymes- wold, Leicestershire : a brown Mare, about 15 hands high, has a small lump on her back, and a scar on the nostril. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Hague, Police Station, Wymeswold, Leicestershire.— Bow- strcet, Die mber 2 Stolen on the night of the 29th ultimo, a black Pony, about 11 hands high, rising 4 years old, thick set, long thick tail, rough coat, in good condition, when stolen had no shoes on the hind feet, hair chafed off the right shoulder, and marked with letter ' 0' ou tbe left bide under saddle, the property of William Barker, of Eastwood, Essex. Information to be given to Superintendent Askers, Police Station, Rochford, Essex.— Bow- street, Dccembcr 2. Supposed stolen on the night of the 5th instant, from Blackwater, in the county of Cornwall, tbe property of Mr. Thomas James: a dark bay Mare, 3 years old, 14 hands high, white star in forehead, has black joints, long switch tail, mane hangs on near side, has shoes on, and is broken to harness, very quiet; 10s reward and all reasonable expenses on its recovery will be paid. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Complin, County Police Station, Truro.— Bon- street, November 29. WILLIAM STARBUCK, who was advertised in the Police Gazette of the 24th August and 1st October, 1866, and again in July, 1867, charged with stealing three Horses from Rudge, Westbury, Wilts, was apprehended on the 19th inst., at Rugby Great Horse Fair ; the horses were recovered at the time they were stolen. It is supposed that he has been pre- viously convicted of horse stealing. Information to be given to Superintendent Matthews, Fisherton, Salisbury, Wilts.— Bow- street, November 29. Stolen on the morning of the 8th instant, from the parish of Sowton, Exeter, the'property of Mr. H. Bickley, a black cart Mare, 8 years old, 15 hands high, active, clean legs, white star on forehead, with a small white streak down the face, and a email white spot on or near the fetlock joint inside one of the hind legs, switch tail. £ 5 reward will be paid on the recovery of the mare, and cosviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Paris- street. Exeter.— Bo r- street, November 27. Found on the 22ud instant, and supposed to have been stolen : a bay nag Horse, aged, about 16 hands high, black mane and tail, the tail cut just above the hocks,, white saddle marks, high hip bones, and in very low condition. Informa- tion to be given to Sergeant Andrews, Amersham, Bucks.— Bow- street., November 27. The cattle drover, supposed to be an Irishman, charged with sheep stealing, and who was described in Police Gazette of the 23rd November, 1866, has not been apprehended : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark brown beard and whiskers, dark complexion, and slender figure. Information to be given to Superintendent Fowler, Brampton, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle.— Bow- street, November 27. 2 P O L I C E VT A Z E T T E , N o v e m b e r 2 5 . Found straying at Measham, Burton- on- Trent, Derby- shire about a fortnight since, and supposed to have been stolen, a bay Horse, aged, about 14 hands high, and a bay Colt, rising 2 vears old, white star on the forehead. Information to be given to Superintendent Burton, Stapenhill, Button- on- Trent. Bono street, November 27. LARCENY* AND EMBEZZLEMENT Absconded from Berkeley, Gloucestershire, on the 13th ultimo.' charged with larceny.( property recovered) : SARAH DRIVER, wife of Thomas Driver, about 47 years of age, 5 feet G inches high, dark complexion, lull face, very deat ; dressed in light cotton bonnet, brown rough jacket much worn, and linsey dress bound with black braid ; she knits cuffs aud makes collars, and hawks them. She is well known in Birmingham, has relatives at or near Leamington, and will be found in common lodging or low beer houses. Information to be given to Sergeant Ford, Police Office, Berkeley, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, Dec-. mler 2. Description of a man who is charged with stealing the Will and Feoffment of the house of Thomas Irlam, labourer, of Smallwood, and endeavouring to obtain by false pretences £ 30 from Messrs. Higginbotham, solicitors of Macclesfield, the Deeds have been recovered : he is 40 years of age, 5 leet 8 inches high, light complexion, light hair, sandy whiskers, and proportionate make; dressed in black felt hat with oval crown and narrow brim, light grey tight fitting overcoat, corduroy trousers torn on one knee, old lace- up boots; he is a sawyer. Information to be given to Superintendent Rou- bottom, Cheshire Constabulary, Middlewich.— Bow- sir est, December 2. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the borough of Ashton- under- Lyne, between 6 or 7 a. m. on the 28th ultimo, a pair of men's bl ck and white plafcT Trousers, fly fronts, and an old fashioned silver verge Watch, large size, cream coloured dial, plain hands, maker ' Blaylock, Carlisle,' had attached a silver albert Chain, single link pattern : by a man, who obtained lodgings there the previous night, about 35 or 40 years of age, 5 ieet 10 or 11 inches high, dark hair and complexion, small dark moustache, and a tuft on chin, stout make, and high shoulders ; dressed in a dark mixture chesterfield overcoat, or long monkey jacket, black cloth trousers, far worn, cloth cap, with leather peak, and shoes, lie stated that he was an engineer and ha been abroad several years. Information to be given to Head Constable Dalgleish, Town Hall, Ashton- under- Lyne, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 2. Stolen on the 27th ultimo, from No. 14, Gloucester- place, Brighton, the following articles : a lady's gold Geneva Watch, gold dial ( found pledged in Brighton) ; a long gold Chain and bunch of Charms, on gold chased ring, consisting of gold locket in the shape of a reticule, containing the portrait of a young lady ; a gold Watch Key in the shape of door key ; a gold Albert ditto, with white stone ; a small gold necklet Chain ; a gold chain Bracelet, gold padlock attached, set with turquoise ; a large gold Brooch, with fine painting on ivory of Cupid and Psyche ; a large gold Brooch, set with amethyst and pearls ( forget- me- not, in pearls, in centre); a gold paste ditto, with three pearl pendants ; a gold Locket, about the size of a half- penny, set with pearls ; a pair of long gold drop Ear Rings, set with tuiquoise, awl ruby in centre ; a gold Ring, set with rubies aud pearls; a gold half hoop ditto, set with coloured stones, supposed to be lubies aDd emeralds; a cluster ditto, set with opals ; and a grey linsey Dress, with black bugles and braid down the front, white glass buttons down the front of bodice. By a female servant, about 21 years of age, 6 feet 3 or 4 inches high, light complexion, light frizzy hair turned hack, slight make, red speck on forehead, and supposed to be wearing the stolen dress. Whoever will give such information as will lead to her apprehension and conviction, and recovery of the property, shall receive £ 5 reward. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton.— JBOW- street, December 2. , Stolen between 11 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, and 7 a. m. on the 1st instant, from a bedroom at the George Inn, Gabriels- hill, Maidstone, the undermentioned Articles, the property of the landlord, Mr. Daniel Kenyon, viz.: 2 woollen plaid Shirts; 1 white woollen guernsey Shirt; 1 silk pocket Handkerchief ; 1 black cloth Coat; 1 green cloth Coat; 1 blue cloth Coat, bound with braid : 1 drab cloth Vest ; 1 pair of black cloth Trousers ; 1 pair lace- up shooting Boots; 1 green plaid woollen Muffi^ r ; 3 bottles of Sherry Wine ; 1 bottlo of Port Wine ; and a Purse containing 8d. in coppers. By a man who was only known by the uamo of HENRY, the ostler at the inn, and wSo absconded, he is about 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, and brown hair ; dressed in dark coat and trousers, black billycock hat, and red muffler. Absconded since the 25th instant, from 0, Leicester- place, Leicester- square, stealing £ 40 in Gold, and sundry cheques, on the Union Bank, Argyll- place, Regent- street, a man, 40 years of age, 6 feet high, fresh complexion, hair and whiskers brown, several teeth deficient in upper jaw; dressed in a black frock coat and vest, dark mixture trousers, side6pring boots, and hat. It is supposed he will take a ship for America,— Metropolitan Police, C Division, November 29. Absconded on the 22nd instant, from No. 22, Ironmonger- row, St, Luke's, stealing eight blue witney Overcoats, a man, 34 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion and hair, tuft on chin, and dressed in dark cloth coat and trousers, black f(> lt hat.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 29. Absconded on the 25th inst., from No. 20, New Norfolk- street, Shoreditch, stealing a blanket, two pillow- cases, three horsehair chairs, four pictures, a woman, 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, and wore a brown stuff gown, black shawl and bonnet .— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 29. Description of a man charged with stealing a woollen Shirt at Whitwell, North Riding of Yorkshire, on the 24th instant, the property of Robert Peart, which has been found sold at a lodging- house at Malton : about 35 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, black bushy whiskers Bhaved off under the chin, proportionate make, and dressed in dark loose coat, with dirty back, cord or fustian trousers, black cap with peak, large handkerchief round his neck tied in a bow ; has the appearance of a navvy. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Gregory, Malton, Yorkshire. — Bow- ttreet, November 29. Description of ISAAC BROWN, a miner, who absconded from Middlesborough, on the 25th instant, charged with stealing a pair of lace- up Boots, mended across the toes, man's size, an old white cotton Shirt, and a brown and white cotton Hand- kerchief, which he may be wearing ; he is from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, broad face, small whiskers on chin, and very much pockpitted : dressed in an old brown coat, old black vest, black cloth trousers, and grey cloth cap ; he is supposed to be a native of Swainhy, Clereland, Yorkshire. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Saggerson, Borough Police, Middles- boroush, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 29. Description of a man who absconded from Heckmondwike, on the 19th instant, charged with stealing a woollen Shirt, since recovered, from his lodgings: the property of Charles Hinchliffe ; he is from 30 to 35 years of age, C feet 2 or 3 inches high, sallow complexion, sandy hair, moustache, and very long whiskers ; he ia a stonemason, and was dressed in white linen jacket, cord trousers, c'. olh cap, and clogs. Information to be given to Superintendent Martin, West Riding Constabu- lary, Dewsbury.— Bow- street, November 29. Absconded, HENRY ROSS AUSTIN, a manufacturer's clerk, on a warrant, charged with embezzling money, belong- ing to Mr. B. Clarke Tipper, horse and cattle spice manufacturer, Birmingham ; he is about 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, little or no whiskers, very calm in his manner ; he is a Scotchman, but does not speak with that dialect, he will probably seek employment in some book publisher's establishment. Information to be given to Superintendent Glossop, Borough Police, Birmingham.— Bow- street, November 29. He was last seen at Whittlesea, about 9' 30 the same night, dressed in the above named trousers, vest, and shirt, and left in a hurry, without either coat or cap on, and leaving the rest of the property behind him, which has been recovered. Description of a man, giving the name of WILLIAM EVANS, of Cefncymera, Llanaber, Merionethshire, dissenting minister, charged on a warrant with obtaining the sum of 2s. 6d. from Mr. Spurrier, watch and clock maker, at Tewkes- bury, on the 28th October last, by stating that he was minister of the Baptist Chapel at Cefncymera, and that he was collecting funds to pay off the debt on the chapel, which is all false: CO to 05 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, broad full face, short neck, round shouldered, light complexion, light hair and whiskers mixed with grey meeting under chin, nearly bald on top of head, stout made; dressed in bluck suit ( turned almost brown from dirt and wear), and altogether of a shabby appearance : he is a Welshman, but speaks English with a Welsh accent.
