Notice.— It is requested tliat all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. ".* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should bo made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As HO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. He is an Irishman, and has been employed at chemical works, but may be found working as a labourer at some public works. On the Cth instant the dead body of a female Child, about 6 weeks old, was found in the River Stour, at Ashford, Kent, dressed in two white cotton bedgowns, a white cotton roller, a white chemise with lace on sleeves and shoulders, two pieces of white window blinds, lower part of a man's white Mctroi lilan Police t Dision, April 5. shirt, a piece of white cotton rag pinned round lower part of r ' r body in lieu of napkin, and two napkins pinned over the Stolen on the 30 h ultimo, from a gentleman, while same, all very old and without marks. An inquest has been held, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' returned against some person or persons unknown. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING Between 10 and 11 on the night of the 4th instant, a straw Rick belonging to Mary Golby, of Coton, Oxford, was set on fire, also a cart Hovel, at Coton, the property of Thomas Campion both of which were destroyed. ARNORSEN, a native 1 of Iceland, 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, light brown hair and whiskers meeting under chin, bald on crown of head, slight made, very straight, speaks good English;: generally dressed in a black suit, fawn coloured overcoat, and high hat His intention is to leave this country for America or Australia. By a tramp, about 25 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, stout build,' sandy whiskers, and dressed in an old velvet jacket and cap. An old pair of boots and vest were left in the house. Information to be given to Superintendent Pugh, Denbigh, North Wales.— Boto- itreel, April 15. DuriDg the night of the 5th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Itrad, at Defford, Worcestershire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom: three pairs of men's white cotton Stockings, a pair of old patched Sheets, a man's calico Shirt, and a mahogany Tea Caddy. Also, on the sime night, from the honse of William Hitchins, of the same place, a double- b irrelled Gun, without lock on right barrel, the Dame 1 Williams' oa lock of left. The gun, tea caddy, and tea kettle has been found pawned at Worcester, by a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, very dark hair, whiskers, and eyes, and small moustache, has a peculiar expression of countenance ; dressed in a black billycock hat, supposed fustian waistcoat ( with sleeves) and under do,, brown cord trousers, and shoes, with about four lace holes on each side. Information to be given to Superintendent Harris, Pershore, Worcester;';.., — How- street, April 12. On the morning; of the 9th instant, the dwelling- house of C. Gamier, Esq., of Mount Tavy, near Tavistock, was bur- glariously broken and entered, and thefo'lowing articles stolen therefrom : a large Trvv, seven small Waiters, tour side Dishes wsA^ a. irs of Potf. a''< l Stands, three butter Boats, four egg Cups with Stauas and SpuoJo, wurt^ Ut of sugar Tongs, a mustard Pot aud Spoon, a small Teapot, three creaui Ju^ e, two marrow Spoons, four Sauce Ladles, a sugar Ladle, a Fisli Slice, four pairs of salt Spoons, forty- five large table Forks, thirty- four small ditto, four gravy Spoons, two soup Ladles, thirty- five table Spoons, thirty- four dessert Spoons, nineteen tea Spoons, two butter Knives, three Goblets, three Cups, a pepper Bos, and two Skewers; the whole marked wiih the crest— a mailed arm with bolt, lion, lion's claw grasping crossed arrows. A reward of £ 50 will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders. At noon on the 9th instant a dwelling- house in Cardiff was broken and entered, and a black silk Dress, the body made to form a jacket and waistcoat, trimmed with ruches of the tame material ; a winsey Dress, trimmed at the bottom with different widths of ve'lvet; a pair of very 1 - ge balf- wellington Boots ; a pair of boy's elastic- side Boots ; a pair of black Trousers, much worn, several pieces let in the back to make them larger, old- fashioned, small fall; a pair of black Trousers, large fall, small hole burnt in leg; a pilot cloth Overcoat and a drab witney ditto with velvet collar, much worn, two pockets outside aud a breast pocket in each ; a large woollen plaid scarf Shawl, scarlet, brown, and black ; and a red and black Welsh flannel Shirt, nearly new, stoleu there- from. Information to be given to Superintendent Stockdale, Cardiff, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, April 12. Between the nights of the 30th ultimo and the lst instant, the offices of W. D. Trotter, Esq., solicitor, Bishop Auckland, were broken into and about £ 240 in Notes, Gold, Silver, and Copper stolen, including three £ 5 Notes. Two of the notes were on the Bank of Messrs. Backhouse and Co., one a new one, and the first three figures of its number 790—. The other note is supposed to have been on the Bank of England. There was also stclen at the same time a yellow leather Money Bag, on which was impressed the official seal of the County Court for Bishop Auckland. A portion of the money had for some time been kept wrapped in paper and was discolored. A reward of £ 20 will be paid to any person giving suoh infor- mation as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Between 1 and 8 a. m. on the 7th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Thomas Ackroyd, pattern maker, Sowerby Bridge, was entered through the cellar grating, and the following property stolen : a gilt Time- piece surmounted by the figure ot a man; a grey cloth Overcoat, two pockets outside and one in left breast, brown and grey lining ; a black Coburg Dress- piece, 10 yards long ; a clothes' Basket con- taining the following articles of washed Linen but not smoothed or ironed— two white cotton Shirts with linen fronts and wristbands, a blue and white striped cotton Shirt with metal buttons, a cotton Chemise marked ' E. Ellis' in ink, a pair of women's Drawers, two harden Towels, a white linen Towel with blue edge, three white holland Aprons, three bleached calico Pillowcases, two men's Collars ( one white and the other brown and white), and a blue and white check bundle Handkerchief; a black stuff Apron; and some Butter, Eggs, aud Bread.
