Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose01 f obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. *.* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As RO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deierlers and AhtenUtt from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published witheut bis authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the night of tho 15th ultimo, some person placed a male child ( dressed in white calico skip, with needlework round each cuflF, white calico petticoaf, black and white woollen handkerchief, black cape with three pockets, and trimmed with braid, red socks, white wool hoots, and white hood) upon a door step in Broughton- street, in Salford, and there left it. Tne child was taken to the Workhouse, and there died on the 28th ult., from the effects of cold and exposure. Her Majesty's Government now offer £ 60 reward to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the dis- covery anil conviction of the person who deserted the child ; and Her Majesty's gracious pardon will be granted to any accomplice ( not beiug the person who actually deserted the child) who shall give such evidence as shall lead to the same result. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Salford, Lancashire.— Bow- street, March 11. On the 26th ultimo, ALFRED CHARLTON, of the parish of Halesowen, Worcestershire, did unlawfully and mali- ciously wound one Thomas Potter. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension ot Charlton, who his absconded : he is about 36 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, thin dark brown whiskers, and straight hair. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Halesowen, Worcestershire.— — Bow- ttreet, March 11. About 4 a. m. on the 4th instant, the Body of a full- grown male child, was found in an ash- pit behind the ' Wellington ' inn, Barnsley, wrapped in a portion of an old print dress. Tbe Body was so much decomposed, that it could not be ascertained whether it was still born or not. An inquest has been held, and a verdict of ' Found dead,' returned. Information to be given to Superintendent Greenhalgh, West Riding Con- stabulary, Bamsley.— Bow- street, March 8. JOBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen from the person of William O'Kell, between War- rington and Daresbury, on the 24th ultimo, an old- fashioned silver Verge Watch ; has ' Peter O'Kell, Sutton,' engraved on the back, and yellow Chain with Seal and Key attached. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Andrews, Lymm, Warrington, or to Sergeant Morris, Stockton Heath, near Warrington.— Bow- street, March IS. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, at the steeple chases, Bangor, Flintshire, on the 12th instant, a silver Lever Watch, Bradshaw, Whitchurch, maker, with a brass albert Gaard attaobed. Information to be given to Superintendent Bolton, Hanmer, Flintshire.— Bow- sireet, March 16. Stolen on the 4th instant, from the person of a gentleman at Darlington, a Pocket- book, containing £ 175 in £ 5 Bank of England Notes, all of which are dated London, 15th November, 1866, and Nos. from 20,011 upwards. Information to be given to Superintendent Rogers, County Constabulary, Darlington. — Boa- street, March 8. Stolen on the 2nd instant, from a gentleman, in Parlia- ment- street, a gold Watch, with glass face, chased cases ; also a gold snake pattern albert Guard, onyx Locket, a bugle shape Seal, crest— a leopord's head, with fleur- de- lis in mouth attached.— Mdrcjtolilc. n Police, A Division, March 8. Between 7 and 10 p. m. on the 16ih instant, the dwelling house of Henry W. Hanson, of Saltaire, in the township of Shipley, joiner, was entered through the kitchen window, and the following property stolen therefrom: a black silk Dress, trimmed with black 6ilk velvet, bound with 1^- inch black braid ; a black cloth Jacket, trimmed with puce round Deck and cuffs ; - i black woollen Shawl, white spots round border ; a black quilled Skirt, diamond squared, bound with black ; a blue Shooting Coat, very fine cloth, bound with black ; a ditto ditto, strong cloth, covered buttons ; a green mixture ditto, covered buttons ; a pair of black cloth Trousers, fl> fronts ; a pair of diagonal ditto, ditto ; a pair of mixture ditto, with silk 6pots ; a pair of plaid ditto, repaired at bottom ; a green plaid cloth Cap; a crochet Sofa cover; a silver- plated caddy Spoon ; a crochet Book Cover ; and a slide Rule, marked ' H. Y. Hanson.' Supposed by a man, who said he was a sailor, and was hawkiDg tracts on shipwrecks in the neighbourhood on the day of the robbery : about 38 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion and hair, rather slender, round face, and dressed when hawking in blue guernsey smock, white trousers, and black billycock hat, but may now be wearing some of the stolen clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Ball, West Riding Constabulary, Bradford. — Bow- street, March 18. Further information respecting the burglary at Wooburn Green, Bucks, on the 9th instant, and advertised in the Police Gazette on the 13th instant: a Pocket- Book, marked ' Tufrey,' containing receipts and other papeis was ( in addition to other property described) stolen therefrom. A bricklayer's chisel, newly forged, cut from a | bar of ruuud iron and ) 8J inches in length was left in the house by the burglars. Supposed by two men : one about 25 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, small dark whiskers, and dark brown hair; dressed in a dark rough coat, blue guernsey thirt, blue neckerchief, and rough cap with a piece of ribbon at the side. The other about 5 feet 6 inches high ; dressed iu a dark coat, with a white wrapper tied round the neck, and felt hat. A ieward of £ 20 will be paid to any person or persons giving York's Military School, his father belonged to 1st battalion 3rd Buffs. On the night of the 4th instant, the cottage of Jeremiah Randall, situate at Foxfield, Hants, was burglariously entered, by two men with their faces blackened, and the following pro- perty stolen, viz.: a double- breaBted black cloth frock Coat, with covered buttons, and a darn in the corner of one of the skirts ; a single- breasted black silk velvet Vest, with roll collar; a single- breasted green and yellow plaid Jacket, with roll collar, and pocket on each side ; a green and yellow plaid Vest, with roll collar; an old black cloth Coat, with covered buttons, and bouud with black braid ; a calico Shirt, with linen collar and wristbands; a small coarse linen Sheet; an old silver Watch, with roman figures ; 2 small Pistols, the nipple of one broken ; about £ 3 6s. in silver ; and about 4s. in copper Money. On the night of the 8lh instant a dwelling- house in the parish, of Bathford was broken and entered, and the following articles Btolen therefrom : a Tea Spoon, marked ' W. Stolen from Soham, during the night of the 3rd instant, two Ho ses, viz : a bay mare Pony-, 4 } ears old, about 13 hands Mfcfc, star in forehead, and long tail cat quare, the property of Mr. Jonathan Easy. A brown eob Gelding, in low condition, 7 years old, about 14J hands high, star on forehead, and white streak down to the nose, switch tail, has saddle marks, and a knot about the size of a walnut on near fore fetlock joint, the property ot Mr. Robert Martin. By two men having the appearance of low horse dealers, one about 26 years of age, pock- marked and wearing a cap with peak ; the otlier about 22 years of age, dark hair, cut short, and wearing a billycock hat, both had on dark coats and cord troupers. Tney were seen together with the horses, between Halstead and Braintree the following day, and are supposed to have j; oue to the lower part of Essex or into Kent, and may be driving one of the horses in a cart. Description of a man travelling the country who takes lodgings at private houses, and alter staying a day or two decamps, he is charged with stealing on the 16th instant, Is ll^ d in money, and 16 postage Stamps, from the dwelling- house of Wm. Brown, in the parish of Little Gonerby, Grantham : he is about 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, 26 years of age, light complexion and hair, wJifckers shaved off under the chin ; dressed in a black cloth coat and vest, small cord trousers, laeed trows with brass eyelet holes, and black cloth cap with French peak, braided button on top, bine and white silk necktie, white paper collar, a violet checked woollen shirt, and wears a blue striped cotton shirt underneath, had also with him an old black cloth cap with a brass battcm on each side of the peak with an engine stamped on them : states be is an engine fitter and a bricklayer.
