C. *** Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of tho Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be [ irepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Tamworth, on the night of the 30th ultimo, a double- cased gold hunting Watch, No. 2172 or 2173, makers Wales and McCulloch, London. Information to be given to Sergeant Longden, Con- stabulary Office, Tamworth, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, Feb. 4. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING Description of two men who absconded from Stockton- on- Tees on the 4th instant, after causing the death of James Howard. and against whom a verdict of ' Manslaughter' was returned at an inquest held on the 7th instant: PATRICK KAPLASS, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers; dressed, when working, in a white cotton jacket and trou- ers, and blue cloth cap, which he wears on the side of his head, and at other times a black cloth suit and cap. CORNELIUS CONNELL, 50 years of age. 6 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, thin dark hair and whiskers, propor- tionate figure ; dressed, when working, in an old dirty fustian suit, small check shirt, and clofh cap. They are both Irishmen, and labourers at ironworks. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Booth, Stockton- on- Tees, Durham, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, February 11. About i oon on the 5fh instant, the body of Hugh McKeon was found brutally murdered on the quay of the Great Float, in the township of Poulton, Cheshire, and it is supposed considerable sum of Money was stolen from his person. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Ham- mond, County Police, Abbey- street, Birkenhead.— Bow- street, February 8. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 9th instant, the dwelling- house of Thomas Jones, of the Burnt House, in the parish of Selattyn, near Oswestry, Salop, was burglariously broken into and about £ 30 in Gold stolen therefrom : supposed by a man, wearing clogs about 10$ inches in length. Information to be given to Super- intendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, February 11. Between the hours of 1 and 4 p. m., on the 8th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. James Whittaker, South Lodge, Calverley- with- Farsley, agent, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen : A single breasted black cloth frock Coat, pockets outside of skirts, one outside of left breast, covered buttons, small tear under left cuff, nearly new. A black cloth Coat, similar to the above, but bound round the edges with black braid, rabbit's- down inside the lining, which was torn from the coat and used as a pocket. A black cloth single breasted Vest, buttons up to the chin, without collar. A blue and brown plaid fancy silk velvet single- breasted Vest, rolling collar. A pair of light grey mixture Trousers, fly fronts, raised seams, small hole burnt inside one leg, right pocket bottom worn out. A single- breasted Vest, same material as last- named trousers, ( op button but one off. A pair of new black cloth Trousers, fly fronts, lined throughout. FORGERY. Description of THOMAS TURNER, alias ALFRED MINNS, who is charged on a warrant wiih forging an order for the payment of money at Bishop Auckland on the 7th ultimo: lie is a native of the South of England, where it is supposed he was known by the name of Alfred Minns, 26 to 28 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, small dark eyes, dark hair, whiskers round the face, slender make ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, dark cloth vest, dark grey cloth trousers, cloth cap, and lace- up shoes; he is a bricklayer, and is married. Information to be given to Super- intendent Henderson, Bishop Auckland, Durham.— Bow- street, February 8. Description of a man charged with causing the death of William Cook, on the 27th ultimo, on the Midland Railway Works, near Elstree. Herts: STEPHEN HOLIDAY, alias SNOB, alias TURP1N, a navvy, 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, fair complexion, light hair, no whiskers, large front teeth; diessed in cord trousers and waistcoat, fustian jacket, light coloured hairy cap with leather peak, and heavy lace boots ; is a native ot Herchester, near Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. — Metropolitan Police, S Division, February 4. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON Stolen from the person of a gentleman, at the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Station, Trinity street, Bolton, about 8 p. m. on the 2nd instant, a silver lever Watch, maker J. W. Benson, Loudon, No. 24486, capped and jewelled, gold balance and hands, with inscription • Presented to Mr. Christopher Roe by the members of the Edgworth Burial Society, for his services as Secretary for upwards of 30 years, June, 1866.' Information to he given to Chief Constuble Harris, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- striet, February 6. Stolen fiom the person of a geit'eman, in the Town Hall, Tamworth, a gold hunting Watch, No. 2172 or 2173, makers 1J lb. of Cheese. 1 loaf of Bread. 1 piece of unwashed Linen, about 16 yards. 2 pairs of old Sheets, one pair linen. £ 1 in Gold, and ljd. in copper, which he gave a man who went to his bedroom, and demanded his ' Money or Life.' A powerful jemmy and a large turnecrew were left behind. The window tbey entered was covered with gum and brown paper. Information to be given to Superintendent lvins, County Police Office, Shrewsbury.— Bow- street, February 11. Between the hours of 7 and 11 p. m. on the 2nd iDstant, the dwelling house of Thomas Hughes, Turley Heath, near Market Drayton, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and one gold wedding Ring, and ten silver tea Spoons, six marked ' W. H,' and four marked ' D,' stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Bergen, Stone, or to Serg. Macrory, Eccleshall, or at any Police Station in the county of Stafford.— Bov>- street, February 8. During the night of the 2nd instant, the office of Market Drayton Rail » ay Station was feloniously entered and about £ 30 in Gold, £ 7 or £ 8 in Silver and Coppers, a post office Order for £ 3 lis. 7d., a light brown morocco Portmonnaie, lined with red, three or four compartments, and a small canvas Bag marked on it' Market Drayton/ stolen therefrom. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Haines, Whitchurch, or to Sergeant Scale, Market Drayton, Salop.— Bow- itreet, Feb 6. On the night of the 22nd ult., the National School- room at Bungay, Suffolk, was broken and entered, and an alpaca Umbrella, two pairs of Goloshes, and a Dial Clock ( since found pledged at Norwich), stolen therefrom. By a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, whiskers turning grey ; dressed in black hat and coat, and is supposed to be a tramp. Information to be given to Inspector May, Bungay, Suffolk.— Bow- street, February 6. During the night of the 2nd inst,, the house of J. Stolen on the 31st ultimo, a black Pig, from the farm yard of Mr. Francis Felden, Northfleet, about 6 weeks old. Obtained by false representations on the 31st December last, a half bred stallion Horse, tiged, 16 hands high, < krk bay, streak down the face, fail cut square nt the dock, a large lump over the right forefoot, saddle marks on the bock, in low con dition and has been used for hunting. By a man named ARTHUR GARDNER, ahorse deal, r, a native of Paiuswick, Gloucestershire, who travels in different counties, 26 years of age, about 5 feet high, light brown hair and whiskers, down- cast louk ; dressed, when last seen, in a low- crowned hat, dark overcoat and undercoat, grey trousers, and sometimes a white slop ; sometimes goes in tbe name of RODWAY. The horse is the property of Mr. William Brain, carrier, near Cirencester, Gloucestershire, who will pay all reasonable expenses on tbe recovery of the horse and conviction of the offender; he went in the direction of Chalbury, Oxfordshire, for tbe fair there on the 1st ultimo. ELIZABETH WILSON, alias ELIZABETH THOMP- SON, about 24 years of age, 6 feet big •, dark complexion, daik hair ; dressed in a black and white plaid shawl, black dress, brown velvet bonnet trimmed with red. They obtained lodgings of » furnitfhed room, and represented themselves as husband and wile, the man brio* in search of employment as a sailor. They remained about three weeks and in tbe meantime purloined the above- named articles w hich they pledged A canvas Big containing a pair of Blankets ; two pair ot cotton Stockings ; a Rug ; :> nd a sailor's Bed Case are also stolen, are supposed to be in their possession. Information to be given to Superintendent Green, West Riding Constabulary, Goole, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, Feb. 11.
