INFORMATIONS MUR!)£ E AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING On the moriiiDg of the 25th instant, the Body of anew- born female child was found thrown over into the back yard of the ' Black Lion' beer- shop, Upper Park- place, Brighton. An inquest was held on the 26th instenr, when the Jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder ' against some person or persons unknown. Whoever will give such inf< rmation to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Brighton, as shall lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the offend, r or offenders, shall receive >>' 10 rewax- d.— Bow- street, December 28. ABSON AND WILFUL BURNING' Description of a man who went to the door of E. May, farmer, at High Holston and asked for some lucifer matches, which were given, shortly after he left the barn and cart lodges were discovered to be on fire and were entirely destroyed : he is suspected of having set fire to thetn : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high ; dressed in a long twill frock, pocktts at sides, and black billycock hat. Griffiths, of Tyn broken into ( suppose stolen therefrom : a in. £ 700 in Scotch Bank Notes of £ 20, £ 10, and £ 5 respectively ; and £ 62 in Seotch Bank Notes of £ 1 eaeh. By two men, apparently Englishmen : one, 26 to 30 years of age, medium height, roun I while face, slight black moustache, dressed in light grey overcoat and black hat ; the other, about same age, dark or black hair, dark eyes, dark complexion, prominent nose, clean 6haved, dressed in dark or brown overcoat and black hat. Stolen from the person of John Kempster, at the Railway Inn, Balcombe, Sussex, on the 19th instant, an old- fashioned silver open- faced verge Watch, figured dial, makers Ransom and Caffin, London, No. 3083. By JOSEPH WOODS, 44 years of age, who is in custody charged with stealing the same ; states be is a native of Isleworth, Middlesex. A pawn ticket was found in his possession, for a coat, pledged at T. F. Cloud's, New Brentford, on the 24th instant, for 2s., in the name of John Begwell, No. of ticket, 108 ; he may have pledged the watch at Croydon, Kingston, or Brentfstd, as he went in that direction. Between 1 am' . n. on the 29th instant the Wesleyan School in Lincoln i> the dwelling house of Mr. Holton, the schoo'master, were uurglariously entered, and five silver Tea Spoons, marked ' A.'; six ditto, marked ' F.'; a Ham; 1 lb. of Sugar; 1 lb. of Currants; and a pair of men's buttoned Boots, stolen therefrom. Information to be given to the City Chief Constable, Lincoln.— Bow- street, December 31, The dwelling house of Mrs, Batcock, of Storringlon, Sussex, was broken into between 1 and 10 p. m. on the 26th instant, during her absence from home, and the following property stolen therefrom : a £ 5 Bank of England Note, £ 5 in gold, a pai* of Sugar Tongs, 2 Table Spoons, 2 dessert Spoons, 2 Salt Spoons, all silver, and marked ' E. T. B.' Supposed by a tramp, from 30 to 40 years of age, about 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender made, pale complexion, light brown hair, and sandy whiskers; dressed in short slop or flannel jacket, cord trousers and cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Bray, West Sussex Constabulary, Steyning. — Bow street, December 31. During the night of the 27th instant, the workshop of Robert Morris, shoemaker, Llangedwyn, was entered, and the following property stolen therefrom: a strong pair of men's Half Boots, heavily nailed, and a patch on the toe of tto left boot ; an* 1 a pair of woman's strong leather Boots. A Jramp of the following description is suspected: about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slender build, and sandy whiskers; dressed in a dark cloth coat, black trousers, red handkerchief, black cap, and clogs. Williams, Dolgelly, with steel Chain and common Guard attached : by two men, one of whom is apprehended, and some of the property found upon him, the other has absconded with the watch, a tramping railway labourer, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, brown hair, and hazel eyes; dressed in an old navvy slop ( soiled with red dirt), old single- breasted plaid waistcoat, old cord trousers, lace- up navvy boots, and cloth cap. ISAAC PHIPPS, an accomplice in the above robberies, has been apprehended and committed for trial at the next assizes for the county of Monmouth, on both charges. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Usk ; to Superintendent Mcintosh, Monmouthshire Constabulary, Pontypool; or to Inspector Sheppard, County Constabulary, Newport, Monmouthshire, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, January 7. Between 2 and 6 a. m. on he 1st instant the Bhop of Mr. Marsh, Eye, was broken into, and two polished Hammers with horse picks and jointed ; a polishing Burnisher, 3^ inches square; three small metal Whistles; and ten ivory and bone Whistles, some white and the others black and brown with dogs' and foxes' heads on them, stolen therefrom. By a man about 30 years of age, 6 feet 0 or 7 inches high, At about 8 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, the Cemetery Lodge, at New Town, in the parish of Chesham, occupied by Thomas Smith, was entered during the absence of the family, by breaking a pane of glass, and opening the back window, and the following property stolen : 1 hunting Watch, maker Goodwin, Dublin, with a bull's eye glass, and figures for the days of the month on dial, and no hand ; 1 double eased j imprisonment, and once at Wells, for stealing a rabbit. £ 20 Watch, with no glass, both silver, and very old make; 1 j reward will be paid to any person giving such information aa and an interpreter of the French language ; dressed in a grey coat with pockets ootside, cloth cap with peak, and heavy boots with two rows of Bmall nails on the outside of the soles. This man was begging in the neighbourhood of the robbery on the 15th and 16th instant, and if found, is to be at once appre- hended, as the proceeds of other robberies committed by him have been recovered. He gave the name „ f H. J. SELBYat a marine store dealer's where he sold some stolen property; he is well known in the county of Somerset, where he has been twice convicted in the name of HENRY SELBY, viz,, once for a burglary at Ashcott, tor wliieh he was tried at the Winter Assize, 4th December, 1805, and sentenced to twelve months' common Brooch, with three blue stones: and 1 Brooch, with brown and white pebble. Between 11 am, and 1 p. m., on the 24th inatant, the dwelling- house of Richard Jones, of Llandinier Cottage, in the parish of Berriew, was broken and entered during the absence of the family, and the following propovty stolen therefrom : one velveteen Jacket, nearly new, with pockets and flip in the skirts, ons inside left bieast pockit, black horn buttons sewn through as if put on after the jjcket was made, dark drab lining ( calico inside the sleeves) ; one pair of blue woollen Stockings, home kniited, ' R'on the top ; and a half Sovereign in gold, and Four Pence in copper. Supposed by a tramp, wearing clogs, iron tips under the heels and toes, neatly nailed inside the iron of the Heels and toes. Information to be given to Police Constable Roberts, Berriew, or at the Superin- tendent's Otfice, Newtown, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, December 26'. During the night of the 23rd instant, the shop of Thomas Smith, shoemaker, Kilham, Northumberland, was broken and entered, and the undermentioned property stolen therefrom : a pair of men's new lace- up Shoes, steel plates and tackets ; seven or eight pairs of balmoral boot Tops, men's and boys' size; a pair of elastic Sides, a quantity of hide Leather, n leather Apron, and a quuntiiy of shoemaker's Tools. A man of the following description, who had worked in the shop ono month, absconded on the night of the robbery, and is .- uspected: about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, dark brow n hair, ginger whiskers, thin face, and pockmarked; 4ressedJn an old- fashioned blue violet coat, cord trousers, and browii velvet vest with sleeves'; had with him a grey mixture plaid with dark striped border, speaks broken English, supposed to bean Irishman. On the evening of the 23rd instant, in the absence of the foinily, the house of Mr. Robinson, No. 25. North Parade, Gnntiiatn, was entered, and the following property stolen therefrom; four silver Table Spoons, two of them marked' ' R. S. I.'; a pair of figured paitt- rn Sugar Bows; u siher Salt Spoon, the bowl cockleshell pattern, marked ' T. R. C.'; a Brooch, stone set in gold rim ; a g ntleman's gold Ring w ith a large pink, stone; a gold keeper Ring; two pairs of gold Ear- rings; a gold Ear- ring; a pair of Bracelets, gold plated, one a chain with green stone and the other sqaare stones threaded on elastic; two small gold Pencilcases; two silver Pencilcase3, one with white stone and the other a common stamp; and a gold Toothpick. Stolen from a sheep fold on the Eastbury Downs, in the parish of Lambourne, Berks, between the 13th and 28th inst. : a lull mouth Ewe, south down breed, in lainb, good condition, marked ' S' with half circle over it wit h gas tar. Information to be given to Superintendent O'Neill, Wantago, or to Sergeant Hatfield, Lambourne.— Bow- street, December ill. Supposed to have been stolen from Merthyrmawr, Glamor- gan, on the 28th ultimo: two horse Ponies, one bay, rising 4 years old, the other, brown, rising 6 years old, each about 13J hands high, black legs, no white about them, tails to their hocks, and rough coats, both unshod. On the night of the 1st, or morning of the 2nd instant, a sheep was killed, in a field at Blackrod, and cut and carried away one of its bind quarters. Any person giving such infor- mation as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall rece ive £ 5 reward, on application to Superintendent Scott, Town Hall, Little Bolton.— Bow- street, Janwy 4. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 15th ultimo, iroin a field at Gatley- park, Aymestry, a bay hackney Mare, very aged, about 15 hands 1 inch high, black legs, rat tail, in rather low condition, no shoes, the property of Mr. W. A South Down Lamb was slaughtered in a field on Brammey Farm, Frindsbury, and the carcase taken away, and the skin and entrails left behind. Supposed to have been stolen from a field near Maccles- field, on the night of the 24th instant, a cream- coloured mare Pony, 8 years old, about 13 hands high, grey about the face, and a black streak down the middle of the back, A reward of 10s. and all reasonable expenses will be paid on recovery of the pony and conviction of the offender or offenders.
