Description of an Irish reaper who is charged with cutting and wounding William Spencer, at Gainford, on the 10th instant, with two others now in custody : about 45 years of age, 5 feet G or 7 inches high, black hair, long a. id dark bu^ hy whiskers meeting under his chiu, slightly pockpitted, rathei flat nose, and stout built ; dressed in a dark cord jacket and trousers, and black billycock hat. He is a married man, and when not harvesting: is a bricklayer's labourer, and resides in Wharm Gate, Hope Street, York. At 10 a. m. on the 12' h instant a boatman found amongst the grass near the toeing path of tile Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Apperley Bridge, in the township of l< lle the dead body of a fully developed female Child ; a large E'Oue w « s tied to the body with strong cord, and the whole was wrapped in black linen ; it is suppo- ed that the child was boru alive and lived a short time, hud been dead ah ur two days, and in the • water a few hours. Between 3 and 7 a. m. on the lfilh inbtant, a servant's sleeping room belonging to Tycertig Farm, in the parish of Llaufihangel- y- Traethau, Merionethshire, was broken and entered, and there were stolen therefrom an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, yellow dial, with a german silver Gaard and a short steel Chain attached, and a new- fashioned silver verge Watch, nearly new, double case, rather small, knob that opens the outside case broken off, with a gernian silver Guard and a small steel Chain attached. On the night of the 15th instant, the dwelling of Joseph Tarvtr, of Adderbury, Oxon, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : two pairs of Shoes, one pair light, nearly new, with patent facings and brass eyelet holes, the other pair strong, heavily nailed, four rows of nails along the tread, aud a few nails out of the inside of left shoe; an old white fustian Jacket, mended under left arm and one corner of left skirt, brass buttons with a dog on them, one button of! at bottom ; about 3 lbs. of Beef, and 2 lbs. of Cneese. About 4 a. m. on the 12th instant, a dwelliog- house at Greenhill, Weymouth, was broken and entered, and the fol- lowing properly stolen: a gold Watch, single case, engine turned, gold dial, double main spring, separate in two cylinders, opens with a spring, on the inner back covering the works there are three or four lines of engraving, with the number and maker's name, Dwerryhouse, London, No. 13186; a massive gold Albert Chain and Key ; a gold Compass; two gold Seals, one marked ' W. J. S.', the other ' Greenhill,' with a magnified portrait of a gentleman in its interior; and a browa morocco Purse containing about £ 12 or £ 14 in Gold, e Post- office Order for 1 Guinea payable at Weymouth ; and some Memoranda. £ 10 reward will lie paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the i li' nder or offenders, and recovery of the property stolen. Cameron, Liverpool, No. 6182, with silver iuib Guard : a silver verge Watch, maker Joshua Barton, Livei pool. No. 279, steel Chain attached ; a pair of men's cloth Trousers, a black cloth Vest, a pair of red Braces with light stripes, a black silk Scarf, a yellow ditto with blue stripes, a Half- sovereign, and 6s. in Silver. The house of Daniel Gibby was entered on the night of the 12th or early on the morning of the 13th instant, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a Ni^ hi Dress, a Chemise, a pair of Drawers, two Diapers, two white cotton Pocket Handkerchiefs ( all marked ' C. Haycraft' in ink); a Clothes Bag, five fancy flannel Shirts, a flannel Petticoat, a white Jacket Body, an orange coloured silk Handkerchief ( marked ' D. Rees, No, 7'); a Clothes Bag, and ten Diapers, marked ' S. A. Wining'; a linen Sheet, a Toilet, two Towels, three Chemises, one linen and two cotton, two flannel Waisicoats, a Pillow. Case, and a Table Napkin ( all marked ' MAT'; a Cavalry Pistol, flint lock, and broken ; an old grey cloth Coat; a boy's Jaclcet, pepper- and- salt colour with stripes iu it; and a pair of large Shoes, nailed. Information to be given to Superintendent Sadler, Bridgend, or to Sergt. Thomas, Cowbridge, Glamorgan. — Low street, S'p'ember 17. During the night of the 12th instant, the shop of Mr. John Handyside, Cambo, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : 19 yards of dark grey tweed Cloth ; 12J yards of ditto, but of different pattern ; 22 yards of dark heather mixture tweed Cloth, has rather a green shade ; a £ 5 Carlisle Bank Note, has been cut in two and joined with the margin of postage stamps, writing on the back, and has a peculiar crease ni bottom; £ 13 in Gold, 20s. in Silver, some Coppers, and a Deposit Receipt for £ 10 in Lainbton's Branch Bank at Morpeth, in the name of ' John Handyside.' Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable Major Browne, Alnwick, or to Superintendent Gillespie, Rothbury, Northumberland.— Bow- street September 17. Lake House, near Salisbury, the residence of the Rev. E. Dnke, w « s broken and entered between 3 and 4 a. m. on the 16th instant, and the silver Frame of a Cruet Stand for five bottles, with a silver Mustard Spoon, a silver Caddy ditto, and 4s. 6d. iu Silver stolen therefrom. Many drawers were forced open by me„ ni of two chisels, a ' arge and small one, and a number of articles removed to take away, but the thieves were disturbed. Between 12 and 4 a. m. the 12th instant, the dwelling- house of Dr. Smith, Greenhill, Weymouth, was broken and entered, and stolen therefrom: a single- case gold Watch, engine- turned, double main- spring separate iu two cylinders, gold dial, opens with a spring, ihil oft inner back covering of works there are three or four lines of engraving with the number and m- iker's name, ' Dweryhouse, Lxi'don '; a massive gold Albert Chain and Key, two gold Seals ( one marked ' W. J. S.' the other ' Greeuhill,' and a gold Compass, attached ; a brown morocco Purse, containing about £ 10 in Gold ; a Post Office Order for one guinea, payable at Weymouth ; and some Memoranda. Two men were seen on the premises. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Ledbury, Weymouth, Dorsetshire.— bow- street, Septunber 14. During the night of the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Robert Webb, of Rattlesden, Suffolk, was broke ® and entered, and a pair of men's high Shoes, with sparables in the middle of the sole in the shape of a heart, stolen therefrom. A pair of old shoes were left in the house, belonging to a returned convict named ROBERT GRIMWOOD, alias ROBERT BUXTON, alias BLACK BOB, a native of Rattlesden, 48 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, dark com- plexion, blind in left eye, black hair turuiDg arey, stout make, and turns his feet nut when walking; dressed in a snuff coloured velvet frock, soldier's trousers wi hout stiipe, and black billy hat. He is charged with this offence, and is sup- posed to be weurini! the stolen boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Durrant, Ixworth, Suffolk, who holda a warraut, for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 14. Between the hours of 10 a. m. and 8 p. m., on the lltli instant, the dwelling- house of John Edwards, of Llwynisa, Llanrhaiddr. near Denbigh, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a drab mixture cloth Jacket, pockets outside and inside, a breast pocket lined with tweed with small red spots; a vest of the same material, flaps on the pockets, breast pocket of white calico ; a pair of drab cloth Trousers ( all nearly new); a black Bilk Neckerchief with white spots; a Razor, maker Rogers, Sheffield ; a pair of thin lace up Bo its, brass eyelet holes, and newly soled ; and a pair of strong blucher Boots. The offender or offenders are supposed lo be wearing the stolen property, having left a dirty suit on the premises. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Pugh, Denbigh,— Bow- street, September 14. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen from the High- road, in the parish of East Meon, on the 15th instant, a chesuut cob Mare, 5 years old, about 14 hands high, with long fail; and a dark brown mare Pony, aged, about 12 hands high, tail cut square at tbe hocks, both in good ctfndition. Information to be given to Superintendent Longland, Hauts Constabulary, Petersfield. — Bow- street, September 24. Supposed stolen from a field near the College, Hurstpier- point. during the forenoon of the 16th instant, the property of Mr. Thomas Smith, of Hurstpierpoint, innkeeper, a brown Horse, about 16 hands high, 7 years old, long spring tail, large head, scar on off hock, two splints on the fetlock of the near fore leg,' W.' under saddle, and is a good 6trong saddle horse. Information to be given to Superintendent Akehurst, Cuckfie'd ; to Police Constable Morley, Hurstpierpoint; at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes; or at any Police Station in East Sussex,— Bow- street, September 21. Supposed to have been stolen ou the night of the lltli instant, from a field at Handsworth, a brown horse Pony, 13| hands high, 0 years old, three white fetlocks, and long tail. Information to be given to Sergeant Richards, Police Office, Handsworth, Staffordshire.—^ oto- sirec;, September 21, The Pony and Cart stolen from Hatfield, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 12tu instant, lias been found and restored to the owner. JAMES JONES, alias LLOYD, is charged with stealing the same, 38 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches hitih, stoutly built, round face, blue eyes, brown hair, sandy whiokers and moustache ; dressed lu biown coat, cord trousers, aud black billycock hat; he is a hawk er, has been a soldier, and is likely to be fouud in Kent or Sussex, hop picking.
