Bache, of Lake House, Alveley, was wilfully set on fire and totally destroyed, by some person or persons unknown. C' No. ' 1938,' left side « 970,' and ' 1938' scratched on inner case ; a gold hunting Watch, No 1789; a go d curb Chain with a Guinea attached. Information to be given to Mr. Lucas, Town Hall, Oxford.— Boio- st., August 24. Stolen from the person of James Sugg at Exmouth Regatta on the 22nd instant, a silver patent lever Watch, capped and jewelled in tour holes, white dial, sunk seconds, gold hands. Also from the person of Albert Carter, a silver Geneva Watch, No. 104, examined, ' E. Cockeram, Broad Gate, E < eter,' engraved on inner Case. Information to be given to Sergeant Ryall. Stolen from the person of a man in Cardiff, on the right of the 13th infant, a silver lever double- cased Watch, ' Jphn Jfarr' engraved on inside case. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, at Skipton, on the night of the 17th instant, a gold lever Wa'oh, very thin caBe, maker's name worn nut No. 13115 or 13113. Stolen from the person of a gentleman by a common prostitute at Bristol on the night of the 14th instant, a gold hunting Watch, white face, maker Clymer, Bristol, No. 8292, with a gold Albert Chain, composed of long links with 3 or 4 be given to Superintendent Colman, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent.— Boic- street, August 27. The rectory at All Cannings, the residence of the Rev. T. A. Methuen, was broken into, during the night of the " 4t or morning of the 25th instant, and the following articles stolen : a silver Teipot, two silver Table Spoons, a small silver Cruet- stand, two Cruet Tops, and a Wine Strainer, all w th crest— a wolf's head; two small gold Seals; ] 0s. worth of Postage Stamps ; a Half- sovereign ; 20s. in Silver ; and a plum Cake. £ 5 6s. reward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property on application to the Superintendent of Police, Devizes, Wilts.— Bow- street, August 27. Between II p m. and 6 a. m. on the night of the 20lh ins. the house of Alfred Weaver, of the ' Lock Inn'in the parish of Kinver in the county of Stafford, was entered through the brewhouse window where they obtained access to the bar and stolen therefrom ; 1 quart of Rum, half- pint of Brandy, 40 Cigars, 3lbs. of Sugar, 1 loaf of bread, 41b. of Tobacco, 1 calico Shirt, and 1 black and white straw Hat, the property of Alfred Weaver. Information to be given to Sergeant Baldwin, Euville near Stourbridge, Staffordshire, or at any Police Station in the County of Stafford.— Bow- street, August 27. Between 11 p. m. on the 23rd and 5 30 on the 24th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Swan, Lower Walton, in the county of Chester, was burglariously entered by sliding back the kitchen window, which was left insecurely fastened, and the following property stolen therefrom : two square brass chamber Candlesticks, a Coffee Mill, a pair of elastic side Boots, much worn, and a piir of Blucher ditto, recently heeled, with two brass eyelet holes on each side, both pair boy's size ; a white corded Petticoat, needle work at the bottom ; a fine flannel Shirt, torn at the bottom of the front; a pair of new blue worsted Socks, white toes ; a pair of old light blue Socks ; a pair of lamb's wool Stockings, much worn, ribbed at the tops ; a pair of white worsted ditto, recently footed ; an old long black cloth Over Coat, much faded on the back, lined with alpaca, with a pocket outside left breast, and one in each skirt behind ; an old Table Cloth, an old Towel, a Bottle of Ginger Wine, part of a neck of Mutton, and some cooked Lamb. Information to be given to Superintendent Andrews, Lynne, Warrington ; or to Sergeant Morris, Police Station, Stockton, Neath, Chester.— Bow- street, August 27. During the night of the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. A. Whitfield, of Stanford, was hrolcen and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom; 3 silver Table Spoons, and I Dessert Spoon, marked ' A. H. W.'; 7 silver Tea Spoons ; 2 silver Salt Spoons ; I Mustard Spoon ; a pint silver Cup, marked ' A. A. W.'; a silver Corkscrew ; a small silver Brooch with cameo ; an old silver watch Case ; aud a small pocket Knife, ivory handle, and one blade broken. Also, on the same night, the dwellint>- house of Mrs. Poore, of Stanford, was broken and entered, and the following property was stolen : 2 light cloth Jackets, has been worn by a miller 1 whilst dressing flour ; a light Mackintosh ; a pair of old flint and steel Pistols; 6 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' N. W.'; 2 plated Table Spoons, marked ' P.'; 2 plated Salt Spoons; 1 plated Mustard Spoon ; some Receipt and Postage Stamps; 2 half Sovereigns ; about £ 3 in silver; and about 10s. in coppers. Between 3 and 6 p. m. on the 22nd instant the cottage of Richard Lloyd, at Sandford, iu the parish of Severn Stoke, • was entered by an unfastened window, and the following pro- perty stolen : a pair of men's lace up Boots, brass eyelets, fancy toe caps, lightly nailed, nails round heel ; an unhlenched calico Shirt, dirty ; a boy's ditto ; 1 lb of Sugar ; 1 oz. of Tea ; 1 oz. of Tobacco ; 1 lb. of Soda ; and I lb. of Soap. Supposed by tramps who were seen in the neighbourhood. Information to be given to Superintendent G. Checketts, Upton- on- Severn, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, Augu t 27. Information to be given to Inspector Owen, Abergele, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, August 24. During the night of the 21st instant, the dwelling- house and shop of Mr. John F. Radley, grocer and provision dealer, Market place, Uttoxeter, was burglariously entered, and about £ 4 in Coppers and 10 lbs. of Cheese were stolen therefrom ( part of the copper coin was wrapped up in brown paper of 5s. each). Information to be given to Inspector Williams, Town Hall, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 24. The dwelling- house of Thomas Bennett, coachman to J. Allen, E- q., on the London- road, near Leicester, in the parish of Knighton, was burglariously enter on the night of the 22nd instant, and the following aiticles stolen therefrom : J. C. A. 1 damask Table Cloth, large size, marked 1 ditto 1 kitchen ditto. 2 calico Sheets, marked ditto small size, marked B. 1' 2 1866 D. J. A. 1861. On the evening of the 15th instant, the dwelling- house of Joseph Blakey, of Haughton- le- Skerne, near Darlington, was broken and entered during the absence of the family, and a patent silver lever Watch stolen therefrom, which has been recovered. By WILLIAM HODGKINS, late of Harrowgate- hill, near Darlington, who has absconded, a native of Wednea- bury, Staffordshire, at which place he has a wife and two children : he is about 25 years of age, 5 ft. 7 or 8 in. high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, small sandy or light whiskers, large mou'. h, thick lips, and walks very erect; dressed in a brown shooting coat, black trousers ( fitting tight to the legs), and brown cap. During the night of the 28th ultimo, the dwelling- house of William Todd, Esq, Hartlepool, was broken and eu'ered, and the following property stolen therefrom: about 6s. in Silver and Copper; two briar- root Pipes; along red beaded Purse ; three plain gold Studs ; two Studs with mock hair; a small gold Chain with a small horn and purple stone in it; a Urge Breast Pin with red stone; a dark brown fancy Vest; a pair of black Trousers; a pair of black and white mixed Trousers and Vest; light tweed Trousers and Vest; a blue pilot Top Coat; a browu mixed tweed Overcoat; au old billycock Hat; two coloured flannel Shirts, marked ' T.'; two silver Salt Spoons, a silver Mustard Spoon, and au electro- plated Sugar Spoon, all marked ' T.' Five guineas reward will be paid on the conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Head Constable Waters, Hartlepool.— Bou>- street, August 22. Further information respecting the burglaries at Newfound Pool, and Birstall, in the county ot Leicester, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th instant, viz., the revolver Pistol with mahogany case and the Ham have been found, but the following property ia still niissinx: a pair of silver Sugar Bows, marked ' C.'; two small old fashioned silver Tea Spoons, plain, or marked ' I. C. S.'; a child's half- pint silver Mug, marked ' J. F. S. C.'; the silver top of a Pepper Castor; an electro plated Sugar Basin; an electro plated Tea Caddy Spoon j an electro plated round Snuff Box, with medallion likeness of George Stephenson on lid ; a perforated silver Sugar Ladle, supposed marked ' L.'; the silver tops of two Pepper Castors, and the silver top of a Mustard Castor. On the night of the 16th instant a silk warehouse, in the borough of Chesterfield was feloniously entered, and 21 lbs. of raw Bengal Silk ( been washed) stolen. Stolen on the night of the 18th instant, from near Stan- derwick, three Horses, of the following description ; one a block cart mar-, 6 years old, 14$ hands high, stout built, an old scar on off shoulder, hair rubbed off the tail, clean about the legs, and in tOod condition ; another, a black cart geldnug, 2 years old, 13$ hands high, very small star in forehead, has lost the eyelash from off the near eye, no shoes on, in good condition j the other a light bay cart mare, 6 years old, 14$ hands hign, white star iu forehead, white spot ou upper lip, near hind foot white, in good condition. Information to he given to Superintendent Abbott, Warminster, Wilts.— Bow- street, August 22. Supposed to have bean stolen from Wellington, near Durham, on tbe 12th. instant, a brown Horse, about 15$ hands high, iu good condition, and has worked down a pit; also a white mare Pony, about 13$ hands bigh, tail cut square ; both aged. Information to be given to Sergeant Oliver, Police Station, Wilhngton, or at the County Constabulary Office Durham.— Bow- street, August 20. bigh, stout buil,^ an old scar on the oft' shoulder, the hair rubbed off the tail, rather clean about the legs, and in good condition. £ 10 reward will be paid for such information as shall lead to the recovery of the horses, and conviction of the offenders. They were traced by Superintendent Matthews to Derby- green, near Black water, and the two mares there re- covered ; the black cart gelding that has lost the eyelash from off the near eye, is supposed to be now in the neighbourhood of Bracknel, having been shod at Mortimer. Two men of tbe following description are wanted, charged with stealing the same: one fiom 30 to 35 years of age, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches hUh, dark gipsy appearance ; dressed in a long back dark coat, trousers, and low- crowned beaver hat; the other about 20 yrs. of age, light complexion, 5 feet 5 or 0 inches high ; dressed in a dark mixtuie striped tweed suit, and cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Matthews, Fisherton, or to Mr, Harris, Police Station, Trowbridge, Wilts.— Bow- street, August 27. Stolen on the 18th instant, from 4, Richmond- grove, Richmond- road, Islington : a grey Mare, 15 hands higb, and a hansom Cab, picked out with white, ' Wards patent,' S. O. plate 11671, R- N. 3038, and a set of Harness.
