As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in tire POLICE GAZETTE, all [ Letters addressed to the Editor must toe prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. On the morning of the 10th instant, the naked body of a new) y born male child, was found on the sands, opposite the Gloucester Hotel. Weymouth : the coroners jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder, against some person or persons unknown.' Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Lid bury. Police Officer, Weymouth, Dorsetshire.— Boio- street, March 14. ROBBERY A3* 3> HAR. CEWTT FROM TSJB PERSON. Stolen on the night of the 20th instant, from the person of a man in Salford, with violence: a silver lever Watch, maker Stevens, London, No. 2423. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the appre- hension a'd conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the Watch. Information to be given to Head Constable, Taylor, Town Hall, Saltord.— Bow- street, March 26. Stolen on the 16th instant from the person of a gentleman on the race- course at Warwick, a gold hunting Watch, maker Dent, London, No. 11432. A reward will be paid on recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Heckling, Warwick.— Bow- street, March 23. The following Watches were also stolen from the person of gentlemen on the race- course at Warwick, on the 15th and 16th instant : A silver lever Watch, No. 1027. A silver half- hunting ditto, with the figures on the outside of the case round the small glass, maker D. Schwarck, Leamington, No. 5902. A silver lever hunting ditto, maker Wm. Knoch, Warwick, No. 8014. A man is committed for trial for this offence, but the watch is not recovered. A reward will be given in each case on the recovery of the property and conviction of the offenders. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Hickling, Warwick.— Bow- st., March 23. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, at the Bangor steeple chases, on the 9th instant, a silver lever Watch, with ' J. R. Williams ' on inner case, with Locket, and gold Chain attached. Information to be given to Superintendent of Police, Hanmer, Flintshire.— Bow- street, March 14. BURGLARY ANB MOUSE BREAKING. On the night of the 22nd instant the house of E. H. Ellis, Esq., near Buutingford, was broken into, and the following articles stolen : a silver globe Inkstand, ' L H E' in cypher; a double oblong Scent Bottle, gold tops about 6 inches long ; a silver Sugar Sifter ; two pairs of silver Sugar Tongs, crest— a lion rampant ; a Mustard Pot, silver top ; and a small silver Salt Spoon. Information to be given to Inspector Oliver, Buntingford, Herts.— Bmo- strcet, March 26. The dwelling- house of Joseph Parker, of Copdock, labourer, was broken into between 11- 30 a. m. and 4 p. m. on the 15th instant, and a pair of labourer's High Shoes stolen therefrom, since found pledged at Ipswich. By a man, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark hair, pale face ; dressed in ajlight fustian or beaverteen frock coat and trousers, and a round black hat ; has the appearance of a tramping shoemaker and umbrella mender. He is supposed to have in his possession the duplicate for the above shoes, ' No. 1763, P., dated 15th March, 1866, for Is. 6d., in the name of W, Smith, B. H. Lane.' Information to be given to Sergeant Cattermull, Washbrook, aear Ipswich— Bow- street, March 21, Description of JOHN NEWMAN, labourer, of King's Ripton, Hunts, who absconded on the 16th instant, charged with having, in company with John Deighton, now in custody, committed a burglary and stolen £ 2 8s. in Money from the house of Richard Willmer, farmer, of Little Raveley, on the night of the 15th instant: about 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, straight fair hair, grey eyes, full face, fair com- plexion, mark of abscess on left cheek ; dressed in ragged dark mixture cloth coat too large for him, fustian waistcoat, cord trousers mended at the knees, and low crowned hard felt hat. He was last heard of near Peterborough on the 17th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent A. Brown, St. Ives, Hunts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 21. Between the hours of 1 and 6, in the morning of the 13th instant, the Parsonage at Shotton Colliery, was broken and entered, and the following property of the Rev. D. R. Faulkenor, stolen therefrom : about £ 5 12s. in Gold and Silver; a strong dark half eac Oxford mixture cloth Overcoat, single- breasted, black cloth buttons 2nd and 4th from the top missing, no buttons on the back, has a left inside breast pocket, two slip pockets behind, is lined with strong black alpaca, and has a row of stitching round the wrists ; a black and white check woollen Muffler, fringed at the ends ; a blue corded Bilk Muffler ; a pair of elastic- side Boots, nearly new, double soled, has two rows of sprigs round the heels and soles, and two loopB each, one before, the other behind, those behind are yellow striped, and stitched down to the heels; a small volume of Knight's Cabinet Edition of Shakespeare, gilt and bound in black cloth, has a gilt crest on each side of the back represen- ting a falcon holding a standard ; a small volume of William's Symbolical Euclid, bound in cloth of a greenish colour ; and a small volume of Magnell's Questions. Information to be given to Superintendent Scott, County Constabulary Office, Castle Eden, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Durham.— Bow- street, March 19. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Melville- road, Maidstone, which was broken and entered on the morning of the I7th instant, a pair- case open- face silver Watch, capped ami jewelled, maker John Fairey, No. 1556. Information to be given to Head Constable John Barnes, Maidstone, Kent.— Bow- street, March 19. The dwelling- house of Mr. John Cumbers, of Shenfield, near Brentwood, was broken into during the night of the 12th instant, and the following property Btolen . a double Gun, maker Witton, four silver Tea Spoons, marked ' J. M. C.,' and a pair of l » ce- up Shoes. Information to be given at the Con- stabulary Station, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- ttreet, March 14. Further description of THOMAS DAVIES, who is charged with having committed the burglary at Hardwick, Salop, on the 23rd ultimo ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 6th instant) : he is a native of Cardigan, Salop, 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, sandy whiskers, has a dent on bridge of nose, stout make, rather round shouldered, and dressed as previously described. He is likely to be working at some farm house as waggoner, or in charge of horses upon 6ome railway. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent liaxter, Police Office, Church Stretton, or to Sergeant James Lear, Police Station, Bishops Castle, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, March 14. A man of the following description is charged with having committed two burglaries, one at the dwelling- house of Mr. Henry Longstaff, at Whittington, on the night of the 22nd ultimo, and stealing therefrom a red and black woollen Shirt; the other at the station house and office, at Slaggyford, on the Halt whistle and Alston Railway, on the night of the 3rd inst., and stealing therefrom £ 4 in Gold, £ 2 8s. in Silver, 12s. 3d. in Copper, a £ 1 Sunderland Bank Note ( dishonoured), a gold Watch- guard, cable pattern, with gold Key attached, and an old- fashioned composition Watch with tinsel Guard attached. He is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, black hair, long and bushy behind, small black moustache, dark eyes, swarthy complexion, has a scar above one eye ( supposed to be the left), and has lost part of the forefinger and a small piece of the thumb of left hand ; dressed in a rough blue pilot jacket, wide blue trousers, brown muffler with black silk neckerchief underneath, black cloth cap, lined with black silk, quilted, and large leather peak with a yellow button at each side, lace- up boots rounded at the toes, and white stockings, and had the appearance of a seaman. A man who gave his name JOHN RUTHERFORD, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 9th instant, is suspected of being concerned in committing these offences. Information to be given to Super- intendent Stephenson, Police Office, Hexham, Northumberland. — Bow- street, March 14. Supposed to have been stolen, during the night of the 21st instant, from a meadow in Kington, a wether Sheep, marked ' B' in a wheel on the crup and raddle mark on shoulders. If stolen, £ 5 reward will be paid upon conviction of the offender or offenders; if strayed, all reasonable expenses will be paid by applying to Mr. Bozward, or to Superintendent Shead, Kington, Herefordshire.— Buio- itreet, March 26. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 22nd instant fron the farm in the occupation of Mr. Richard Hand- son, of Driby, near Alford, Lincolnshire, tour she lamb Hogs, a red ochre mark above the tail, and a bit cut off the top of the near ear. If stolen, a reward of £ 5 will be paid to the person giving information thereof, to the said Mr. Richard Handson, so that the offender or offenders may be convicted. If strayed, whoever has found the same, and will return them to the said Mr. Handson, shall receive £ 1 reward for their trouble. Information to be given to Superintendent Wright, Police Station, Spilsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, March 26. Stolen on the night of the 23rd instant, from a marsh in the parish of East tilbury, Essex, the property of F. Asplin, Esq., a dark brown Horse, 0 years old, 16^ hands high, well bred, supposed to have two shoes off, goes wide behind, and rough coat through being turned out all winter. Two men are suspected : one is about 36 years of age, 6 feet 11 inches high, straight and well made, dark hair out short, small black whiskers round the face, dark eyes and eyebrows, has a gipsy appearance, aud dressed iu a speckled tweed coat, striped vest, Bedford cord trousers, long leather leggings with a strap to the waist button, fancy lace- up shoes, short fronts, brass eyelets nearly reaching toes, black felt hat with Bmall rim and a little feather at the side, he carried a large horse rug and carpet bag containing harness ; the other was about 45 years of age, 6 leet 8 or 9 inches high, lost most of front teeth, scar over both eyeB, and dressed in an old alpaca coat, no vest, light trousers, low blucher shoes, and black cloth cap with peak. Information to be given to Inspector Rutledge, Police Station, Orsett, Ess ex.— Bow- street, March 20. Stolen from a field belonging to Mr. Spencer Robinson, of Authorpe, during the night ot the 10th instant, two she Hogs, Lincoln Join' wool, marked on the lower part of near hind quarter with a pttch dot, and a piece cut out of t| i « oil ear. Information to be given to Inspector G. Jarvis, County Police Station, Louth, Lincolnshire.— Boio- street, March ly. Stolen from a field, the property of Mrs, Vaughan, Tre- derwen Hall, Llandrinio, between the 9th and the 14th instant, a fat wether Sheep, pitchmarked on each side with the letter ' V ' lfl a circle. £ 10 reward will be paid by the Llandrinio Association upon the conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to A. Breeze, Police Station, Llandi- silio, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Welshpool, Mont- gomeryshire.— Bow- street, March 19. Stolen from Peterborough, on the night of the 8th instant, a brown half- bred nag Mare, 6 years old, 15J hands high, white star on forehead, rough dirty coat, off hind heel white, twitch tail, hair chafed from below thighs by breech band ; an old black painted Gig with railed back, dashboard much split; and a set of heavy cart- horse Harness, collar and bridle nearly new, supposed to have had rope traces. £ 6 reward will be paid lor the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Peterborough.— Bow- street, Mmh 16. Found on the 7th instant, in the parish of Gaywood, Norfolk, supposed to hare been stolen, a dark brown mare Pony, 12J hands high, fl years old, long mane and tail, the letter ' R.' on the near thigh, and in good condition. Infor- mation to be given to Police Constable Borley, Gaywood, or to Superintendent Seaman, Terrington, Lynn, Norfolk.— Bow- street, March 16. Found on the 23rd ultimo, near Westbury Salop, supposed stolen, a small ewe Sheep, with a cut on rigbt ear, black face and legs, and short tail, and imperfect pitch mark on both sides near the shoulders. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Ivins Shrewsbury, or to Police Constable ( 7) Dorey, Police Station, Ivy End, Welchpool Road, Shrewsbury.— Bom- street, March 14. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen between 8 p. m. on the 20th and 7 a. m. on the 21st instant, from a stable in Finkle- street, Kendal, two mare Ponies : one, a dark bay, 6 years old, about 13 hands high, right knee slightly broken, clipped ; the other, a light bay, aged, about 13£ hands high, both knees broken, clipped, the property of John Spencer, fruiterer, & c. Supposed by a man, about 27 years of age, 6 feet high, stout built, dark hair and whiskers meeting under the chin; dressed in blue pilot overcoat, brown cloth jacket, cord trousers mended at the knees, billycock hat, leather leggings, and clogs. He is well acquainted with potters and low horse dealers. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Hibberd, Kendal, Westmorland.— Bow- street, March 26. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Description of a German, named TREPPS, charged with stealing in Hull, a gold Geneva Watch, ( which has been recovered), the property of Amandus Bielstein, on the 17th instant: lie is about 30 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, long dark beard, whiskerB, and moustache, proportionate make, speaks no English, and is a paper hanger by trade; dressed when he absconded, in dirty black clothing, and black stuff cap. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Hull, York- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, March 26. Description of ADAM ERT, late of Stamford, a strolling cornopean player, who is charged with stealing a large quantity of Hare and Rabbit Skins and Wool from a warehouse in Peterborough on the 21st instant: he is a German, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, red face, rather thin, sandy whiskers and moustache, and light sandy hair; dressed in a long black coat and vest, grey trousers, and dark cap; he was convicted in 1864 of a similar offence at Uppingham, Rutland. Two guineas reward will be given for the conviction of the said Adam Ert. Information to be given at the Deputy Chief Constable's Office, Peterborough, where lies the warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street^ Mmh 2< j, Absconded on the 20th instant from No. G, Langdale- road, Peckham, stealing an electro- plated Cruet Stand, a Mustard Pot, 3 Pepper Castor, a blus Over Coat, two cotton Dresses, a pair of female's side- spring Boots, and a woollen Shawl with lavender colour border, a female, 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, teeth broken in front, and dressed in a dark blue frock, light jicl'et, and black bonnet with green strings.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, March 26. Stolen on the 20th instant, from No. 42, Queen- street, Camden- town, two calico Sheets and a Blanket. By a ftma'e, 35 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark hair, red face, soar under c iin, flat nose; dressed in lilac cotton dress, blue!; shawl with red and black border, black straw bonnet trimmed with blue rilibon, and leather boots.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, March 26. Absconded foom 131 Lower Marsh, Lambeth, embezzling £ i : a man, 25 years of age, has friends residing at Rams- gate, where he is likely to go.— Metropolitan Police, L Division. March 2G. Absconded from Gloucester, on the 18th instant, charged with larceny, HENRY HAVILAND, fio to 60 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, spare figure, light complexion, hair turning grey; usually dressed in « felt hut, along drab or grey tweed coat, worsted cord breeches, and tight leather gaiters: he is a horse dealer, and well known at Reading, Ashton Keynes, other parts of Wiltshire, and St. George's near Bristol, and attends markets and'airs, Information to be given to Superintendent Griffin, Gloucester, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— BouhStreet, March 26. Stolen from a temperance hotel, in the borough of Ashton- under- Lyne, during the night of the 21st instant: a brown mixture sac Overcoat, black velvet collar, two pockets outsido and one in left br.-. ist outside, 1: 1a k buttons, lined with black alpaca; a piir of short Wellington Boots, covered at ti. e toes ; a Hat, mauve coloured lining : a pair of Knic! etbockers with stetl rods; a pair < f Bolton Sheets; a black S' awl v. ith silk bolder tewn on; a brown alpaca Umbrella with ivory handle; a woollen Muffler, vsrious colours on white ground and blue border; eleven white Picket- handkerchiefs; two bed- room Towels, fringed; and a Book entitled ' The Wild Huntress," by Capt. M. Reade. By a man, who obtained lodgi s at the hotel about 8 p. m. the samn evening, about 25 years of a- e, 6 feet i inches liigh, proportionate make, round features, light complexion, little or no whiskers; dressed in dark cloth overcoat, grev trousers, white wersied muffler, black Ion- crowned billycock hat, and v. jeUisgton boots. He will no doubt be wearing the stolen hat and hoots, as he left the billycock hat ana Wellington boots behind him at the hotel. Information to be given to Chief Constable G. Dalgliesh, Ashton- under- Lyne, Lancashire.— Boic- strect, March 26, Absconded on the 18th instant, from Ipswich, THOMAS BARNES and WILLIAM DOBSON, labourer, charged with stealing t'wa calico Sheets ( since found pledged). Barnes 17 or 18 yejks of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, ti lri made, freih complexion, light brown hair, thumb off left hind-; dressed in a dirty slop or sleeved waistcoat, old dirty canvas trousers, and close fitting cap; supposed to have Leen in the navy. Dobson is 15 or 16 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, thin made, fresh complexion, dark brown hair; dressed in an old sleeved waistcoat, old trousers, and cap; has been employed as a butcher's boy. They frequent lodging- houses and low public- houses and stated they were going to Col- chester. Information to be given to Police Sergeant J. Catter- mull, Washbiook, near Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for their (^ prehension,—^ aic- street, March 23. Description of SAMUEL WALKER, late of Betley, who has absconded, charged on warrant with embezzlement: 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers; dressed in black jacket, vest, trousers, and cap. Information to bo given at the Pol ce Station, Betley, Staffordshire.— Boio- street, March 23. Absconded on the 18th instant from No. 16, Palace road, Lambeth, stealing sixteen Sovereigns: a man, 21 years of age, 6 feet 4 inches high, fair hair and complexion, and small light moustache; dressed in blue pilot coat, blue cloth vest and trousers, red flannel shirt with black spots, and low crowned hat; has been in the North Lincolnshire Militia.— Metropo- litan Police, L Ditiiion, March 23. London'. 1 cameo Brooch. 2 Chains. 1 Locket. 1 Pencil Case. Several gold Coins. 1 silver Tea Spoon, and a silver Cream Ladle, marked ' T. M. L.' — Metropolitan Police, P Division, March 23. • Stolen on the 19th instant, from the Reformatory School, Commercial- road, Pimlico, three Table Cloths and one Table Napkin, marked ' H. R.' in red cotton. By three females : one 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, tresh complexion, freckled, dark hair and eyes, stern appearance; another 17 years of age, 5 feet high, pale complexion, brown hair ( cut short), grey eyes, large mouth, high cheek hones; and the other 18 years of age, 5 teet 6 inches high, slight, tresh complexion, long face, fair hair, grey eye). All dressed in mixture blue flannel, grey tweed shawls, blue worsted stockings, leather lace boots, and black straw bonnets.— Metropolitan Police, B Divi- sion, March 23. Stolen on tho 19 th instant, from the cab rank, Sloane- square, Chelsea, a Hansom Cab, painted chocolate colour picked out with red and black, red wheels, ' John Farling' on side plates, and a bay Mare, 14 hands high, two bar shoes, with brass mounted harness; also a Whip, a blue Over Coat, and two Sacks. By a man 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, no whiskers, and dressed in a black cutaway coat, tight fitting cord trousers, and oxford hat.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, March 23. Stolen on the 19th instant, from 12, Little College- street, Westminster: 4 brass Bell Levers, 1 pair of Stocks and Dies, 2 pairs of Plyers, 2 Hammers, 4 pairs of Gas Tongs, 2 Screw- drivers, 2 Blow- pipes, 2 Bell Bits, 3 Gimlets, J cwt. of metal Pipe, and a Tool Basket.
