Whenever it is desired that any person should bo appre- hended. and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with tbe Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the morning of the 10th instant, the naked body of a new) y born male child, was found on the sands, opposite the Gloucester Hotel, Weymouth : the coroners jury returned a • erdict of • Wilful Murder, against some person or persons unknown.' Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Lidbury. Police Officer, Weymouth, Dorsetshire.— Bow- street, March 14. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PEilSON. Stolen on the 16th instant from the person of a gentleman on the race- course at Warwick, a gold hunting Watch, maker Dent, Loudon, No. 3431. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Heckling, Warwick.— Bow- street, March IS. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, at the Bangor steeple chases, on the 9th instant, a silver lever Watch, with • J. R. Williams' on inner case, with Locket, and gold Chain attached. Information to be given to Superintendent of Police, Hanmer, Flintshire. — Bow- street, March 14. Stolen on the 3rd instant, from a gentleman, in the Strand, a gold lever engine- turned Watch, maker Harrison, Liverpool. Supposed by a man 18th years of age, dressed in an old brown Inverness cape and black hat.— Metropolitan Police, F Division, March 9. Stolen from the person of a coal miner, between 8 and 9 p. m. on the 25th ultimo, at West Riding- terrace, Normanton, a silver lever hunting Watch, No. 8017, maker Joseph Johnson. Information to t> e given to Superintendent HMII, West Riding Constabulary, Wakefield.— Bow- strcct, March 7. instant, and the following property stolen : a double Gun, maker Witton, four silver Tea Spoons, marked ' J. M. C.,' and a pair of lace- up Shoes. Information to be given at the Con- stabulary Station, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- Uieet, March 14. Further description of THOMAS DAVIES, who is charged with having committed the burglary at Hardwick, Salop, on the 23rd ultimo ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 5th instant) : he is a native of Cardigan, Salop, 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, ruddy complexion, durk brown hair, sandy whiskers, has a dent on bridge of nose, stout make, rather round shouldered, and dressed as previously described. He is likely to be working at some farm house as waggoner, or in charge of horses upon some railway. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Baxter, Police Office, Church Stretton, or to Sergeant James Lear, Police Station, Bishops Castle, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, March 14. A man of the following description is charged with having committed two burglaries, one at the dwelling- house of Mr. Henry Longstaff, at Whittington, on the night of the 22nd ultimo, and stealing therefrom a red and black woollen Shirt; the other at the station house and office, at Slaggyford, on the Haltwhistle aud Alston Railway, on the night ot the 3rd inst., and stealing therefrom £ 4 in Gold, £ 2 8s. in Silver, 12s. 3d. in Copper, a £ 1 Sunderland Bank Note ( dishonoured), a gold Watch- guard, cable pattern, with gold Key attached, and an old- fashioned composition Watch with tinsel Guard attached. He is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, black hair, long and bushy behind, small black moustache, dark eyes, swarthy complexion, has a scar above one eye ( supposed to be the left), and has lost part of the forefinger and a small piece of the thumb of left hand ; dressed in a rough blue pilot jacket, wide blue trousers, brown muffler with black silk neckerchief underneath, black cloth cap, lined with black silk, quilted, and large leather peak with a yellow button at each side, lace- up buots rounded at the toes, and white stockings, and had the appearance of a seaman. A man who gave his name JOHN RUTHERFORD, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 9th instant, is suspected of being concerned in committing these offences. Information to be given to Super- intendent Stephenson, Police Office, Hexham, Northumberland. — Bow- street, March 14. Stolen on the niglit of the 8th or early on the following morning, from the post- office at Chipping Ongar, by means of burglary, the following property: Receipt Stamps to the amountof 19s. ; Penny, Twopenny, Fonrpenny, Sixpenny, and Snilling Stamps to the amount of £ 23 ; 10 or 121bs. of black and green Tea ; a pair of woman's kid Shoes, double soles; a silver Tea Spoon, marked * S.'; a dirty brown cotton Bag, 2 feet by 10 or 12 inches wide : and about £ 3 in Silver aud Copper, the property of Mr. Scruby, the postmaster. Information to be given to Superintendent Pattisson, Police Station, Epping, Essex.— Bow- street, March 12. Description of a man charged with committing a burglary BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between the hours of 1 and 6, in the morning of the 13th instant, the Parsonage at Shotton Colliery, was broken and entered, and the following property of the Rev. D. R. faulkenor, stolen therefrom : about £ o 12s. in Gold and Silver; a strong dark half sac Oxford mixture cloth Overcoat, single- hreasteii, black cloth buttons 2ud and 4th from the top missing, no buttons on the back, has a left inside breast pocket, two slip pockets behind, is lined with strong black alpaca, and has a row of stitching round the wrists ; a black and white check woollen Muff! r, fringed at the ends; a blue corded silk Muffler ; a pair of ela- tic- side Boots, nearly new, double soled, bas two rows of sprigs round the heels and soles, aud two loops each, one before, the other behind, those behind are yellow striped, and stitched down to the heels ; a small volume of Knight's Cabinet Edition of Shakespeare, gilt and bound in black cloth, has a gilt crest on each side of the back represen- ting a. falc. m holding a standard ; a small volume of William's Symbolical Euclid, bound in cloth of a greenish colour ; and a small volume of Magnell's Questions. Information to be given to Superintendent Scott, County Constabulary Office, Castle Eden, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Durham.— Bow- street, March 19. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Melville- road, Maidstone, • which was broken and entered on the morning of the 17th instant, « pair- case open- face silver Watch, capped and jewelled, maker John Fairey, No. 1666. Information to be given to Head Constable John Barnes, Maidstone, Kent.— Bono- street, March J9. The dwelling- house of Mr. John Cumbers, of Shenfield, near Brentwood, was broken into during the night of the 12th with a yellow button at each end of strap, boots, and had ovs his shoulder a dirk- coloured rough rug ; lie sleeps in stables or outhouses, had in his possession a pistol and two or three large knives, has the appearance of a seaman, and committed similar robberies in the counties of Durham and Northumberland. Information to be given to Superintendent Robinson, Durham County Constabulary, Stanhope.— Bow- strut, March 12. Between the hours of 5 and 8 on the night of the 7tli instant, the house of Mr. William Bunting, in Serpentine Walk, Mile End, Colchester, was broken and entered, and the following property Blolen therefrom : 1 Japan Cash Box, containing 1 Sovereign, 2 half Sove- rings, 20 Shillings in Silver, some Letters addressed to Mr. Bunting, aud a Cheque on Mills, Bawtree At Co. ( payment of v. bich is stopped). 1 large gold Ring, with light hair, engraved inside ' Edward Ellis. s 1 gold Ring, with buncli of Trinkets attached thereto. 1 gold Ring set with red and white stones. 1 gold Ring set with red and green stones. 3 goH Rings with hair. 8 Shillings in silver. 1 large gold Brooch, with 6 sorts of hair ( mixed). 1 small gold Brooch. 1 laige cameo Brooch ( reversible), set in gold. 1 gold Eye Glass. 1 silver pencil Case. 2 watch Keys. 1 miniature Album. 1 green Ornament. 1 pair of gold wrist Links. Three ifien of the following description are suspected, one of them having been seen to leave the premises, the othera waiting near : one, about 40 yeura of age, 6 feet G or 7 inches high, hair inclined to sandy, stout built, pug nose, dressed in long cost and dark trou- ers; another, about 23 years of age, 6 feet 2 or 3 in", high, rather dark complexion, email whiskers, dressed in light coloured cuat and dart trauiers; the other, about 6 feet 8 inches high, thin features, fair complexion, pock- pitted, small light whiskers ; dressed in light coloured clothes. £ 4 4s. reward will, on conviction of the otiender or offenders, be paid in moietieB. Supposed by at Kenton, in Northumberland, during the night of the 19tli a man about 35 yeara of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, black bushy ultimo : about 30 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high,; whiskers, and dressed in shabby black. Absconded on the 10th instant, charged with stealing £ 10, a man 32 years of age, 4 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, scar on forehead, light hair, and dressed in a light oveicoat and trousers, fancy boots, and black hat. He belongs to the Ilounslow Militia.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, March 14. Stolen between 11 p. m. on the 9th and 8 am. on the 10th inst., from No. 329, Goswell- road, Clerkenwell: 23 gold Chains, 27 gold Brooches, S4 cold Lockets, 36 gold Pins with stones, and 22 pairs of gold Ear- rings ( various patterns), also 33 silver Watches ( thirteen levers, one No. 3G58I).— Metro- politan Police, G Division, March 14. Description of a man charged with sidling the following Tools from a building in Cheltenham, between the 24th and 26th ultimo : four Trowels, a Brick Hammer, a Lath Hammer, a Stone Hammer, and two Brick Chisels. He is about 30 years of age, o feet 3 or 4 inches high, stout made, black hair and whiskers; dressed in a cap fitting close to the head, dark coat much worn at the elbows and torn on the shoulder; had the appearance of a tramping mason or carpenter ; the tools have since heen found sold at Northleach, and he is supposed to be making his way to London. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Cheltenham.— Bou>- stred, March 14 Stolen from a clothes line at Malvern Link, on the evening of the 7th instant, two woollen Shirts, one red with a tii. ee inserted in back of neck and two spots of paint on the sleeve, the other black and red stripes, and has heen darned in the centre of back and under the arms, and has a small patch on the tail of a different material. Information- to be given to Superintendent Checketts, Upton- on Severn, or to Actipg Inspector Turner, Great Malvern .— Bom- street, March 12. Further particulars respecting the property stolen from the Rev. G. Allfree, Romanoff Cottage, Tunhridge Wells, on the night of the 23rd ultimo : a volume of Creasy's Decisive Battles of the World,' Allfree'written inside ; and inside the cover of Smith's Antiquities, was 1178' pasted thereon, and ' Allfree' written on the fly leaf. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Emberv, Tunbridge Wells,— Bow- street, March 12. Stolen from the Whitehall, Shrewsbury, between the " hours of 10 o'clock, on the night of the 9th, aud 6 o'clock the Allowing morning, the following articles: a suit of dark grey Cloches with a rib down the trousers ; a dm- k blue Coat, pockets at sides; a pair of black Trousers ; 2 Vests ; a livery ditto; and a grey ditto ; a stable Jacket; a black Oveicoat, rough material; a pair of grey Breeches and Leggings ; a pair of woullen cord Breeches ; 2 print Shirts, one linen with name effaced with ink.,; 2 pocket Handkerchiefs, one silk the other cotton ; a black and white Scarf; and 3 pairs of different kinds of Boots. Supposed by two men, one about 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, roman nose, very talkative, tattooed on right hand between the thumb and forefioger with a star, and a ring on the third linger; dressed in a dark grey Jacket, black vest with blue flowers worked in, and black leather leggings buttoned up the side. The other about 5 feet 11 inches high, stout huilt, dark complexion, small dark whiskers, and a cut on the side of mouth ; dressed in a blue pilot or monkey jacket, cloth eap, and dirty moleskin trousers and ve< t; the former has the appearance of a stableman, the latter a moulder. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Hughes, Borough Police Office, Shrewsbury.— Bow- street, March 12. Stolen on the night of the 8th ios'ant, from ( he premises of James Green, farmer and miller, Ford- street, Aldham, five store Ducks and two Drakes, black and white. Information to be given to Superintendent J. May, Witham, Essex.— Bow- street, March 12. Stolen on the$ th instant, from a garden at Feering, the property of John Hicks, grocer: a blue mixture Overcoat, one row of buttons, two puckets behind, one inside left breast, collar recently cleaned, and an old black Waistcoat, Supposed by a tramp. Information to be given to Superintendent J. May, Witham, Essejc.— Bow- street, March 12. Stolen about 3 a. m. on the 12th ultimo, from Penrhiw, near Good wick, Pemlnokeshire, the property ot Hugh C. Owen, Esq., a pure white rough terrier Dug, 11 months old, long headed, big jawed, short crooked .' ore legs, longish ears, black nostril, answers to the name of ' Lion.' A man of the following description is suspected : a sailor, 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, utout built, fair complexion, hair and whiskers inclined to be sandy. It has been ascertained that he shipped at Swansea for Spain. Stolen from Neithrop, Oxon, on the 9th instant, a new spring Cart, painted chooolite, picked out with white and red. By a gipsy, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, sore eyes; dressed in speckled plush sleeved waistcoat, cord trousers or breeches and gaiters, and cap ; travels with his wife and one child, who hawks clothes- pegs, tinware, & c. Information to be given to Superintendent Whadcoat, Banbury, Oxon.— Bow- street, March 12 Description of a woman charged at Bradford with stealing a black and white plaid woollen Shawl which is slightly torn in the centre, and a Half- sovereign, from the ' Victoria' inn, Low Moor, on the 10th instant, at which place she had been employed as domestic servant since the 8th instant : she gave the name of WILSON, and said she came from Wales, about 22 years of age, middle size, fresh looking, full round tace, prominent eyes, and dark hair ; dressed in brown winsey dress, black stockings, and a pair of men's elastic- side boots.
