WARWICK UNION. Clerk— Mr. H. C. PASSMAN, Solicitor, High Street, Warwick. WILLIAM BLENCOE, a brickmaker, 35 years of age about 5 feet 10 inches high, light brown hair, scanty whiskers, grey eyes, and sallow complexion. Absconded about three weeks ago, leaving his three children charge- able to the Parish of Haseley. WILLIAM ROBBINS, Bricklayer, aged 23 years, about 5 feet 10 inches high, dark hair, red face, brown eyes ; hid on a brown jacket, cord trousers, fustian waistcoat, and Muller hat. Has deserted his wife and family, whereby they have become chargeable to the Parish of Leamington Priors. Supposed to be working at Not- ting Hill, London. JOHN GUBBINS, labourer, about 32 years of age, widower, height about 5ft. 7 or 8 inches, fair complexion, fresh colour, hair light, whiskers scanty, grey eyes, visage full, thick lips, legs and thighs rather thin in comparison with his body, from thighs upwards appear- ing remarkably strong and well- built; left the Parish of Rowington on Sunday, the 3rd of September last: supposed to have on when he left a dark jacket, drab moleskin trousers, and a billy- cock hat; sometimes wears a white smock frock, and at others a slop. Has deserted his four children, George, Richard, Emma, and Sarah, whereby they have become chargeable to the Parish of Wroxhall. TWO POUNDS REWARD will be paid on the appre- hension of either of the above. MANSFIELD UNION, Clerk— Mr. W. E. GOODACRE, Mansficl JOHN SHALCROSS LEE, alias THE SQUIRE, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair, full sandy whis- kers, and has a squint in his eyes. He has again de- serted his family, leaving them chargeable to the Mansfield Union. He is supposed to be working as a labourer near Sheffield. One Pound Reward will be paid for his apprehension, on application to Mr. W. E. Goodacre, Clerk to the Guardians of the above Union. LUTTERWORTH UNION. Clerk— Mr. J. DRIVER, Lutterworth. JAMES HAINES, a labourer, aged 30, 5 feet 10 inches high or thereabouts, dark hair, full mouthed, upper teeth stand projecting, rather round shouldered, lost first finger of right hand, second finger cut off at tbe knuckle, the name 44 Haines" pricked in the upper part of the right wrist; he is supposed to be working in the coal district, near Ashby- de- la- Zouch. Deserted his wife and 6 children in January, 1863, leaving them chargeable to the Lutterworth Union. Two Pounds Reward will be paid to any one who will apprehend him, on application to Mr. J. L. Lee, Re- lieving Officer, Lutterworth. FYLDE UNION . Clerk— Mr. WILLIAM THOMPSON, Kirkham Lancashire. WILLIAM SHARPLES, aged 32, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; by trade a potter. Supposed to be in the county of Dur- ham. Left his wife and 2 children chargeable to Kirkham. WELLINGBOROUGH UNION. Clerk— Mr. M. REID SHARMAN, Solicitor, Wellingborough. JOSEPH NUTT, a boot and shoe maker, about 30 or 37 years of age, 5 ft. 7 or 8 in. high, dark brown hair just turning gray, large whiskers, blue eyes, and dark- ish eyebrows, very full forehead and rather stoutly built, his right thumb has been split down at the back and has healed up, leaving a scar nearly the whole length of the thumb ; there are 5 marks on the thumb where- 5 ulcers have been taken out Supposed to be in Manchester or London. GEORGE NUTT, brother of the above, a shoemaker, 40 years of age, 6 feet high, black hair, very dark hazel eyes, large whiskers, rather thin, has the mark of an anchor OD the back of one of his hands, both his arms are scarred with burns. Both the above persons have absconded, leaving tbcii wives chargeable to the parish of Wellingborough. A Reward of Two Pounds will be paid for the apprehen- sion of either of them, on application to Mr. Thomas Simmons, Relieving Officer, Wellingborough. DEWSBURY UNION. Clerk— Mr. WILLIAM CARR, Solicitor, Gomersal, near Leeds. JAMES SALMON, a coal miner, aged 26, about 5 feet high, stout, dark hair, dark whiskers, and dark blue eyes, holds his head rather on one side. Had on, when he deserted his wife, blue cloth pilot trousers, black cloth jacket, and black cap. Had with him a black cloth suit. Deserted his wife on the 9th of June, 186- 1, who has become chargeable to the Township of Soothill, in this Union. One Pound Reward will be paid to any person giving such information to Mr. John Lawson, Relieving Officer, Dewsbury, as shall lead to a conviction. EDWIN TOWNEND, alias EDWIN KILBURN, a stone mason, aged about 32 years, 5 feet 4 inches high, rather stout made, dark complexion, dark hair, sandy whiskers, and brown eyes, generally a " hewer" at his trade, and is left- handed. Left his wife and 2 children chargeable to the township of Liversedge. One Pound Reward will be paid to any persdn giving such information to Mr. John Robinson, Assistant Overseer, Robert Town, Mill Bridge, vid Norman ton, as shall lead to a conviction CAXTON UNION. Clerk.— Mr. HENRY MORTLOCK, Solicitor, Caxton, Royston. JAMES COOPER, labourer, late of Bourn, in this Union, aged 30, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light browii hair, and whiskers meeting under the chin ; dressed in a plain fustian coat, and white slop underneath ; plain fustian trousers; a black billy cock hat; and strong lace- up boots. Left his wife and three children charge- able to Bourn. Supposed to be working on some railway. £ l Reward, and all reasonable expences will be paid on his apprehension. " Every person running away and leaving his wife, or his or her child or children chargeable, or whereby she or they, or any of them, shall beeoraa chargeable to any parish, shall be deemed a rogue and vagabond." And it is further enacted, " That it shall be lawful for any person whatsoever to apprehend any person who shall be found . attending against this Act, and deliver him or her to any constable or other peace officer." 5th, GEO. IV. Cap. 83. " And every woman deserting her Bastard Child, whereby such Bastard Child becomes chargeable to any parish or union, shall be punished as a rogue and vagabond under the provisions of the said last recited Act."— 7 and 8 VICT. Cap. 101. CHORLEY UNION. Clerk— Mr. E. D. STANTON, Chorley, Lancashire. THOMAS RODGERS, about 30 years of age, Railway labourer, about 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes, a cut on one eye and a blue mark on the other, dressed in a velveteen coat and mole- skin trousers, has left a wife and three children charge- able to - Chorley. One Pound Rew'ard will be given to any pefson who will give Mr. John Parker, Relieving Officer, Chorley, such information as will lead to his appprehension, and the said Mr. Parker will forward an officer with a warrant to receive him into' custodj . SWANSEA UNION. Clerk— Mr. G. B. HAYNES, Swansea. HENRY MILES, engine driver, lately residing in Jersey Street, in the parish of St. John's, near Swansea, on or about the 3 0th January, 18G5, deserted his wife, Jane Miles, and his two children, whereby they have become chargeable to the parish. The said Henry Miles is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 10 . inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, no whiskers, and small moustache. Has been a drummer in a Volunteer Rifle Corps. . Two Pounds Reward and all reasonable expenses, will be paid for the apprehension of the said Henry Miles, on application to the Clerk of the Guardians, Swansea. DEVIZES UNION. Clerk— Mr. A. MEEK. ALFRED TURNER, aged 32, 5 feet 9 inches high, slightly made, dark complexion, black hair and whiskers, and wears a moustache ; by trade a blacksmith and turner. Left his wife and children chargeable to this Union. TWO POUNDS Reward will be paid for the apprehension of the above, on application to Mr. Benger, Relieving Officer, Potterne, near Devizes. SOUTHAMPTON INCORPORATION. « Clerk— Mr CHARLES C. SMITH WHEREAS, on the morning of Thursday, the 23rd of July instant, a male child, aged about nine months, was found in the garden of Mr. W. H. Purkis, Ascupart Street, Southampton. The child is of light complexion, dark hair, and hazel eyes, and has several ulcers and sores on its head & arms, and was dressed in a merino frock, flannel petticoat, magenta and white worsted shoes, and wrapped in an old paisley shawl. The child can be seen at the Workhouse, on application to the Master. A Reward of FIVE POUNDS will be paid by the Guardians of the Poor of the Southampton Incorporation, to any Person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension of such child's parent or parents. CHARLES STEPHEN LEE, alias Charles Lee, a butcher, aged 35, about 5 feet 6 inches high, shallow complexion, waving black hair, and bushy whiskers. He was for some years employed as butcher ou board the Peninsular and Oriental Company's Steam Ship " Pera," and was last heard of at Southampton about Midsummer, 1860, at which time he took passage ou board the " Alliance" for Havre, where it is supposed he joined the American Steam Ship " Vanderbilt" bound for New York. Deserted his four children, now in the Workhouse of this Incorporation. FRANCIS TRIGGS, a whitesmith, aged 53, .5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, was born at Chichester, Sussex, deserted his wife a second time ( in May, 1850), who has since become chargeable to the Parish of St. Mary, Southampton. He is said to have been working lately at Mr Weilman's, bell- hanger, Prescot Street, STOKE- ON- TRENT UNION. Clerk— Mr. T. GnifriN. RICHARD BRYAN, potter ( a placer), aged 24, about 5 feet 6 high, dark complexion, decayed teeth, dark brown hair, greyish eyes, eyebrows meet, a cut on the brow above the eye, and a long seal on the under part of his arm ; was dressed in a black cloth coat, waistcoat, and trousers, and a black cap or hat; was born at Longton in this Parish ; supposed to be in Liverpool, Secombe, or Rotherham ; deserted Mary, his wife, and Richard and Elizabeth his children. Left with a married woman, who is pregnant, named Jane Englisht; she is rather short, dark hair and eyes, fresh colour, large earrings with white glass in them, and a green and a black veil. He absconded from the Parish of Stoke- upon- Trent on. or about the 6th of August, 1859. THOMAS BUSHELL, aged 34, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slight, rather high cheek bones, grey eyes, brown hair, no whiskers. He is by trade a bricklayer. He left his child, about July, 1864, chargeable to Sevenoaks. CASTOR UNION. Clerk— Mr. GEORGE R. F. IIADDELSEY, Solicitor, Castor. JOHN TINKER, labourer, late of Lissington, Lincoln- shire, deserted his wife and five children, in February, 1865, whereby they have since become chargeable to the common fund of the Castor Union. Description, 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout built, light complexion, light blue eyes, light brown hair, rather ginger whiskers, slightly marked from the small- pox, has a scar over one of bis eyebrows. Is supposed to be living with a woman named Ann Drury, from Market Rasen. Was last heard of, lodging at Mrs. Hardy's, No. 3, Jerram's Yard, Bridge Street, Gains- borough, and working on a railway near that town. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. JAMES BAXTER, tailor and draper, aged 25 years, but looks younger, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh looking, brown hair, no whiskers. Dressed, when he absconded, in a ^ lue cloth dress coat, mixed trousers and vest, and black hat, which he generally wears on one side. I fond of company, and resorts to concerts. Has worked in Edinburgh, 4 years ago. He will most likely seek employment in Loudon, Manchester, or Liverpool. He deserted his wife, Martha, and 3 children, and they are now chargeable to Market Rasen, of which place he is a native. JAMES EDWARD BELL, late of Market Rasen, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion full features, blue eyes, freckled, and sandy hair. He was dressed in a black dress coat and trousers, and black hat. Was an apprentice to a surgeon, and was an assistant, about 5 years since, to a surgeon in Manches- ter ; was at an hospital in London about 3 years ago, when he was convicted for stealing surgical instruments, and sentenced to 6 months" imprisonment. He is fond of skittles and low company, and is supposed to be in London, out of employment. He deserted his wife ( Emma Jane Bell), and she became chargeable to the Parish of Market Rasen, on the 31 st of October last. A warrant is issued for his apprehension. THOMAS WHITWORTH, absconded from the Parish of Legsley, in the Castor Union, in the County of Lincoln ; leaving his wife Susanna and one child chargeable to the said Parish. Description— aged 21, 5 feet t> 5 inches high, rather stout built, fresh com- plexion, brown hair and curly behind ; dressed in a dark overcoat, dark corduroy trousers, heavy laceup boots, and black Jem Crow hat. Is supposed to be working at some public works near Hull. Ten Shillings Reward will be given for the apprehension of eithei of the above. Information to be forwarded to Mr. John Ellis Laxton, Relieving Officer, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. HINCKLEY UNION. Clerk— Mr. SAMUEL PRESTON, Solicitor, Hinckley, Leicestershire. CHARLOTTE TAYLOR, aged about 26, formeily a servant, fair complexion, light hair, blue eyes, rather stout, freckled, wide mouth and rather prominent teeth, 5 feet 5 inches high. Deserted her two illegitimate children 2 years ago, which are now chargeable to the Parish of Stoney Stanton. Two Pounds Reward will be paid for her apprehensicn. WILLIAM PLANT, labourer, aged 25, 5 feet 10 inches high, thin, blue eyes, florid complexion, pointed nose, sandy hair, whiskers ( short) and moustache, walks with a shambling gait. When he left Sapcote, he had on a light fustian jacket and trousers, and a dark cloth waistcoat with blue coloured glass buttons. Deserted his wife and infant child, whereby they have become chargeable to the parish of Sapcote, in this Union. THOMAS ARMSTRONG, aged 40, about 5 feet 5 inches high, stout built, broad shoulders, dark complexion, black hair, and very little whiskers. A1 sconded from the Hinckley Workhouse on the Kith of January, 1864, with the Workhouse clothes on— a light fustian suit, numbered 66. Some months ago he was at work at the coalpits at Durham. CHARLES GIBBS, an agricultural labourer, aged 24, 5 feet 4 inches high, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, black hair and whiskers, generally wears a short white slop Left his wife and 3 children chargeable to this Union Supposed to be in the neighbourhood of Knighton, in Radnorshire. A warrant is issued. WILLIAM HORTON, aged 33, about 5 feet 4 or 5 high, rather stout m tde, small whiskers, dark hair and' eyes, wears a slop, and sometimes a dark pilot monkey jacket, moleskin trousers, and blucher boots, very swaggering in conversation, fond of singing in company, and fre- quently talks of some expected property. JOHN HEWLETT, aged 50, 5 feet 9 or'lO inches high, formerly a soldier in the foot guards, bald head, gray hair, sandy whiskers, and brown eyes. Deserted his wife and children at Bishampton, Worcestershire, ab£> ut the month of April, 1862, supposed to be in the neigh- bourhood of Stratford- upon- Avon. One Pound Reward will be paid for their apprehension. CHELTENHAM UNION* ' Mr. ROWLAND J. TICEHBRST, Solicitor, Cheltenham. WILLIAM HUGHES, an attorney's clerk, formerly'ii an office in Cheltenham, but lately in similar employ, ment at Worcester, aged about 45, height about 5 feei 8 inches, bald headed, sallow complexion, large eyes, and brown bushy whiskers and moustache. Some time since he left his wife and family chargeable to the Parish of " Cheltenham. He generally wore spectacles. Supposed to be either in Worcester or Liverpool. CHARLES JENKS, grainer and writer, aged 25, about 5 feet 7 high, dark hair, bushy whiskers, rather sandy, the left thumb difigured from an accident; deserted his wife and 2 children, leaving them chargeable to the parish of Cheltenham. He left Cheltenham with a woman and child about 2 years old, and wore a grey suit of clothes, and Scotch cap. One Pound Reward will be paid for the apprehension of either of the above. THE POOR LAW UNSiK'B' GAZETTE. WEST LONDON UNION. Clerk— Mr. JOHN PONTIPEX, Solicitor, St. Andrew'S Street, Ilolborn THOMAS BRYAN, an Irish tailor, about 44 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair and eyes, spare build, and ELLEN BRYAN, his wife, a tailoress, about 33 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, middling complexion, brown hair, weak eyes, both generally dressed in black, deserted their 3 children, viz. Mary, 11 jears old, Annie, 9, and Catherine, 3, at No. 2, Norwich Court,. Fetter Lane, on the 18th of October, 1863. HENRIETTA JONES, aged 29, single, a milk carrier, last worked for her father, who used to keep a dairy in Devonshire Street, Theobald's Road, short stature, stout build, very fair complexion, good colour, light hair, blue eyes, slightly pock marked, was confined in Kiss's College Hospital, about the end of August last, of an ilTegitimate child, named Henrietta, which she deserted at Mrs. Field's, No. 2, Plough Court, Fetter Lane, about six weeks ago. JOHN JEWELL, aged 39, a music engraver, about 5 feet 8 inches high, spare build, dark complexion, dark eyes and hair, small whiskers, generally dressed in black. Worked last for Mr. McCormack, High Street, Bloomsbury. Deserted his 2 children, viz. James, aged 9, at 6, Union Court, Holborn, where he was living, and John, aged 3, at 11, Eastcn Street, Clerken- well, about 3 weeks since. Formerly kept a house in Bartholomew Close. The above children have all become chargeable to the West London Union. Whoever shall apprehend, or give such information as will lead to the apprehension of the above vagrants, shall receive the sum of £ 2 2s. in the case of Bryan, and £ 1 Is. in each other case, on application to Mr. John Webb, Relieving Officer, Workhouse, West Street, Smithfield. BURTON- UPON- TRENT UNION. Clerk— Mr. WILLIAM COXON, Burton- upon- Trcnt. JOHN ALLSEBROOK, about 43 years of age, labourer or butcher, about 5 feet 7 inches high, stout built, dark brown hair, whiskers dark and sandy, bold grey eyes, bald on the top of the head, complexion rather dark but florid, one of the teeth in his lower jaw decayed and black. When he left he wore a black tanny hat, black and white worsted scarf, brown velveteen jacket, dark spotted cloth waistcoat, corduroy breeches and leggings. In walking he hangs forward and swings his arms. He was seen at Birmingham about Whitsuntide last, and has relations residing at Drayton, near Tam- wortli, is probably working for a Birmingham Butcher. Has left his wife and children chargeable to the township of Branstone, in the above Union. One Pound reward will be given to any person who will give Mr. R. M. Ward, Relieving Officer, Burton- upon- Trent, such information, as will lead to his apprehension, and the said Mr. Ward will forward an Officer with a warrant to receive him into custody. NEWPORT ( SALOP) UNION. CLERK— Mr. H. HEANE, Newport, Salop. MARIA HUTCHINSON, single woman, aged 23 years, about 5 feet 7 inches high, sandy hair, and freckled complexion. Left her illegitimate child chargeable to the Parish of Newport— supposed to be living with a married man from Bradley, near Stafford. EDWARD BRETTLE, aged about 26, alabourer, stands about 5 ft. 8 or 9 inches high, dark brown complexion, brown hair, several top front teeth broken off, marked slightly with small- pox, a red mark on his breast about the size of a 5s. piece, walks stiff with one leg from an accident to heel. Deserted his wife and two children, who are now chargeable to the township of Church Ashton, iu this Union. SAMUEL SIMPSON, a bricklayer, aged 30, stands about 5 feot 4 inches high, black hair, and very small dark eyes. Was working at Llangollen about two months since. Left his two children chargeable to the parish of Newport. JOHN PRUDENCE, a labourer, aged 32, about 5 feet 8 inches high, light complexion and whiskers, a mark on his left cheek ; supposed to be employed as a gar- dener, and was at Whitchurch about 3 months since; has deserted his wife and 4 children, leaving them chargeable to the Common Fund of this Union. JOSEPH LAWLEY, a platelayer, aged about 32 years, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark hair and large dark whiskers ; was at Brecon about 2 months since, and lodged at an adjoining village with a person named Griffiths, who lived near a post- office ; he is supposed to be working on a railway ; has deserted his wife and two children, leaving them chargeable to the Township of Church AstoD, in this Union. Two Pounds Reward will be paid for the apprehension of either of the above, on application to Mr. B. Rees, Relieving Officer, Newport- Salop. GRAVESEND AND MILTON UNION. Clerk— Mr. Francis Southgate, Gravesend. HENRY CLARK, age about 45, ab:> ut 5- ft. 5- in. in height, and round shouldered, had on when last seen an old black cloth cap, and Garibaldi shirt. He gets his living by begging and singing, and frequently cries, " hard up," and usually walks with his arms folded. He deserted his child, a cripple, whereby it became chargeable to the parish of Milton, in this Union. FREDERICK GEORGE ROBERTS, a shoemaker, aged 32, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, very prominent nose, which has been broken, and has a mole upon one of his cheeks. Had on a rough brown coat and black trousers. Deserted his wife whereby she has become chargeable to the Parish of Gravesend, in this Union. He is supposed to be in London with his wife's sister. One Pound Reward will be paid for his apprehension of either oftbe above, on application to Mr. James Franklin, Relieving Officer, Wrotliam- road, Gravesend.
