Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MR. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. *.* Whenever it is desired that any person should Oe appre hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor insist 8ie prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen from the person, at the corner of Parliament- street and Bridge- street, Westminster, at the time of the Queen's passing, on the 6th instant, a gold open- faced enamelled dial duplex repeating Watch, English make, with a gold and platina Chain attached. Whoever will give such information to Murray's, 30, Cornhill, as will lead to the recovery of the watch and chain, and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 20 reward.— Bow street, February 12. Stolen about 1 a. m. on the 28th ultimo, from the person of Charles Warner, of Stowupland, miller, a silver hunting Watch, engine- turned, capped, has ' Charles Warner, miller, Badingham,' scratched on inside of cases with a pin, a silver Albert attached SPENCER FORD, of Stonham, labourer, and JOHN FORD, of the 19th Regiment of Foot, are charged with the offence, by warrant; the latter has since been appre- hended, and committed for trial at the ensuing sessions, the former is still at large : he is 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, long visage ; dressed in shabby dark clothes and cap ; he has been previously convicted of felony, and has a brother living at No. 9, Bankside, London. Information to be given to the Police, Stowmarket, East Suffolk.— Bow- street, February 9. on the 8th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Matthews, Wilts Constabulary, Fisherton, Salisbury.— Bow- street, February 7. On the 26th ultimo the dwelling- house of David Roberts, of Rhosucha, Merionethshire, was broken into, and the follow- ing property 6tolen therefrom : a pair of black cloth Troupers, lined with brown calico, fall front, watch pocket, dark bone buttons ; a pair of black and white plaid woollen cloth Trousers, nearly new, lined with brown calico, fall front, and watch packet; two single- breasted black cloth Vests buttons up to the neck, small collars, one nearly new, lined with white calico; a dark grey cloth double breasted Overcoat, two pockets in the front with flaps, lined with dark coloured stuff, two rows of black covered buttons, a small slit behind ; a white and brown plaid woollen Shirt, buttons behind, small band for collar, white bone buttons on front and wristbands ; a white calico Shirt, linen collar and wristbands, torn a little on one side of neck below the collar, white bone buttons on front and wristbands ; a large white diaper Table Cloth ; and a Razor, with black haft, in a black case without the top. Supposed by a man 40 years of age, 5 teet 6 icches high, brown hair and sandy whiskers, full red face, and stoutly built, with a small cast or a turn in his left eye ; dressed in fustian trousers, yellow flush single- breasted waistcoat, a dark cloth monkey jacket, and a black jimcrow hat. Information to be given to Inspector Hughes, Bala, or to P. C. Evans, Llandrillo, Corwen, Merionethshire.— Bow- street, February 6. During the night of the 31st ultimo the dwelling- house of John Butler, grocer and draper, Ruckinge, Kent, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen: three pairs of new corduroy Trousers, lined, men's size ; three coloured flannel Shirts, men's size ; and a piece of lavender coloured flannel Shirting, about 7 yards. Information to be given to Superintendent Dewar, Kent County Constabulary, Ashford. — Bow- strect, February 5. Between the hours of 11 p. m. on the 1st, and 6 a. m. on the 2nd iusurthe dwelling- house of William Afcock ( the ' Blue Boys' Inn), in the parish of Brencbley, was burglariously entered and the following property stolen : two green Hams, and part of a Ham dried aud cooked, one hand of Pork, 3 lbs. of new Butter, one loaf of home made Bread, one dozen of Tea Cakes, and a whitish brown Cloth. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tonbridge.— Bow- st., February 6. During the night of the lst instant, a watchmaker's shop in Darlington was entered by means of skeleton keys, and the following property stolen theretrom : from twenty to thirty silver Albert and Guard Chains, secret link and snake pattern ; an oval Brooch set in silver, cornelian stone, with a silver cross in centre ; a plated Bracelet to fasten round wrist, with a case for photograph in the centre ; three gold euamelled Breast Pins, ' In Memory of' enamelled on emter edge; about thirty pairs of gold Ear Rings ; several gold Lockets and gold Keys ; two large massive silver Brooches, set round with white stone ; several twisted silver Brooches ; some silver Pencil Cases ; and three or four dozen German silver Watch Guards. Supposed by two men of the following description : one between 20 and 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark complexion, eyes sore and [ apparently inflamed, dark hair, and small dark whiskers, proportionate figure, aud dressed in dark coat, vest, and trousers, dark cap, and lace- up boots with brass eyelet- holes nearly new ; the other is about 22 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, no whiskers, slender figure, aud dressed in a light suii, light cloth cap, and white muffler ; he spoke the Newcastle- upon- Tyne dialect, Information to be given to Superintendent Rogers, Darlington, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, February 6. On the morning of the 2nd instant, the premises of Messrs. Douglas and EggUton were burglariously entered, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a silver Chalice with handle and top, more than a foot h. gh ; two silver Patens, an inscription on each ; two large silver Plates for collecting alms, ' Maria Shipton' on one, and on the other an inscription in Latin from Nehemiah, 13th chapter, 14th verse ; a small silver Spoon, perforated ; a puce coloured frieze Overcoat, drab velvet collar, pockets at bides and lined with black and white check ; a black and green check pattern cloth mixture shooting Jacket; two pairs of Boots, one of pateut leather, the other calf, with elastic sides. Also on the same morning from the house of Mr. Marriott, Great Missenden : an Overcoat of heavy blue witney cloth, pockets inside and out, velvet collar, silk covered buttons, a pair of Spectacles and case in pocket ; five silver Tea Spoons; a small silver Mustard Spoon, the edge of bowl slightly broken; three German silver Spoons, a gingham Umbrella, " a pair of side- spriDg Boots, a Neck Wrapper, orauge and white ground with scarlet edging. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Job Denson, Police Station, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street, February 5. During the night of the 2nd instant, Weddington Castle, near Nuneaton, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : 10 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' K.' 4 silver Salt Spoons, two of them marked ' K.' 1 small old- fashioned silver Cream Jug, marked ' K.' I electro- plated Teapot. 1 silver Inkstand, with inscription ' Presented to Mr. Kay by his Brothers aud Sisters.' Information to be given to Superintendent Austin, Nuneaton, Warwickshire.— Bou>- street, February 5, INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the night of the 8th instant, the body of a newly born male Child was found in the Horse Barracks, at the back of Charles- street, Cardiff, wrapped up in an old white pinafore, a child's old black frock, and a flour and potatoe bag. A coroner's jury have returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder.' Informa'inn to be giveu to Superintendent J. Box Stockdale, Cardiff, Glamorganshire.— Bow street, February 12. On the 8th instant the dead body of a female child was found in the River Ise, near Kettering, with a band, apparently part of the band of a woman's skirt, tied tightly round the neck. An inquest was field on the body, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' returned. The body has been in tha water from six weeks to two months Inf irmation to he given to the Superintendent. Police Office, Kettering, Northainpton- shiie.— Bow- street, February 12. Further information respecting PATRICK RUAN, charged with the murder of Police Constable Hooper, at Willenliall, advertised in the Polico Gazette of the 17th ult. : he usually shaves off his whiskers, has the mark of a cut under one eye, supposed to he the left, and turns one foot inwards when walking, which causes a slight limp. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Stafford ; to Major McKnight, D- puty Chief Constable, Westbromwich ; or at any Police Office in the County.— Bow- street, February 7. Stolen from the person of William Nance Kivell, at Bideford, on the 30th ultimo, a silver verge Watch, engine- turned hunting cases, No. 10567. £ 1 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offendeis and recovery of the watch. Information to be given to Superintendent Vanstone, Bideford, North Devon.— Bow- street, February 6. Stolen on the evening of the 29th ultimo, from the person ot a gentleman at Manchester, a silver lever Watch, maker Twist, Manchester, No. 1860, had attached a gold twisted link Albert Chain, with Locket and Key. Information to be given to Captain Palin, Chief Constable. Town Hall, King- street, Manchester.— Bow- street, February 2. Stolen at 5' 15 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, from the person of a gentleman, at the Huddersfield Railway Station, a silver lever Watch, white dial, No. 30721, maker Alfred Smith, Huddersfield. 10s. reward will bo ]\ aid on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery ot the watch. Information to be given to Superintendent Hannan, Borough Police Office, Huddersfield.— Bow- street, February 2. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING- About 7 p. m. on the 29th ultimo a lire was discovered in the stackyard ot Mr. C. G. Coates, farmer, of Langton- by- Hornciisile, supposed caused by an incendiary, and three stacks of Coin and one stack of Straw were wholjy consumed. £ 50 rewe. rd, in addition to the reward of £ 40 which has been offered, will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who will gi\ e such information aud evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction ot the offender or offen- ders, and Sir George Gr « y will advise the graot of Her M « j- » ty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the - jl person who aciually set fire to the property, who will give . such evidence as shall lead to the same result. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Horncastle, Lincoln- shire.— Bow- street, F bruary 12. About 7 o'clock on the night of the 29th ultimo, a Stack of Wheat, Barley, Oats, and Straw, the property of Mr, Christopher George Coates, ot Lanyton- by Horncastle, Lincoln- shite, were fired by an incendiary, and wholly destroyed. Whoever will give Mich information as shall lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the offender or offenders, will receive £ 20 from the Treasurer of the Horncastle New Asso- ciation in addition to £ 20 offered by Mr. Christopher George Coatee, and every lawful measure shall be adopted for the purpo- e of saving harmless any person or persons impeaching iiis or their accomplice or accomplices. In addition to the above teward it it apprehended that further rewards will be given by Government, and by the Midland Counties Fire Office. Provided the reward be claimed by more than one person, or more than one he convicted of the said offence, only one reward of i' 40 will be paid, aud the Mem hers of the Association reserve to ihetnselves the exclusive right of deciding to whom and in what proportion it shall be paid, and then decision shall be final.— Boie- slrv. i, February 5. On the night < f the 27th ultimo, a cart shed was wilfully set on fire, at Aston Hall, Claverley, whereby a considerable amount of property was destroyed. Whoi- ver will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders will receive a reward of £ 20 from the Claverley Association for the Prosecutiou of Felons, and a further reward from Mr. Wilson, the owner of the property. Information to be given to Superintendent McWilliams, Bridgnorth, or to Police Constable T. hunt, Claverley, Salop.— Bo'e- strect, February 5. BURGLARY AN ® HOUSE BREAKING. Between 7 and 8 p. m. on the 8th instant, the warehouse of W. H. Howorth, Esq., at No. 8, Heaton- street, Blackburn, was broken and entered, and 29 lbs. of Gold Plate on bobbins, in 1 lb. brown paper parcels, with * B. C.' marked thereon, the whole wrapped in one parcel of brow. i paper, stolen there- from. The gold plate is used for heading calico cloth in weaving. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders will receive £ 5 reward, on application to Chief Constible Joseph Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- strect, February 12. Between 11 a. m. on the 3rd and 5 p. m. on the 5th instant, the cottase of William Dubbins, at Coolham, near Horsham, was broken and enteied during the absence of the inmates, and the following articles stolen therefrom : about iilb. of Cheese ; a small quantity of cooked Meat; a Table Spoon, marked ' Thomas Waters' fon back in two places; three metal Tea Spoons; six german silver Tea Spoons ; and a neck Wrapper with red border, and red, white, and green ground. Supposed by a tramp, about 18 years of age, dressed in dark clothes and low- crowned bowler hat. He was at Arundel, Sussex, and left there about 10 a m. ou the 9tn instant for Ch'chester, in com- pany with two women, tramps, and s supposed to be making his way to Portsmouth or Southampton ; playing a file or tin whistle. Information to be given to Superintendent Blake, West Sussex Constabulary, Horsham.— Bow- street, Feb. 12. On the 4th instrnt the dwelling- hou- e of John Jonson, of of Water Eaton, Oxfordshire, was broken into, and the follow- ing property stolen therefrom : a pair of navvy Boots with heavy nails and nearly new, and a white Pocket Handkerchief with lilac border. Supposed by two tramps, one tall with moustache, the other rather short and wearing cord trousers. Information to he given to Inspector Coates, Woodstock, Oxon. — Bow- strect, February 7. The man described iu the Police Gazette of the 5th inst., charged with breaking out of a lodging- house at Ditchampton, Wilton, and stealing a quantity of Wearing Apparel and other articles, has been apprehended, and the whole of the property recovered ; he is the same man described in the Police Gazette of the 31st ultimo, charged with breaking out of the Newport Lockup, Isle of Wight. A woman of the following description was with him, and is also in custody, having a portion of the stolen articles in her possession : she gives the name of LOUISA SHEPPARD, and states she is a native of Blandford, Dorset, 24 years of age, dark hair and eyes, fresh complexion, good- looking ; dressed in a dark linsey gown, black cloth cloak with tassels behind, and straw bonnet trimmed with blue ribbon, and is of respectable appearance. In her possession were found a quantity of articles stolen from Dennis's lodging- house in Salisbury, the male prisoner having broken out and taken them in May last. It is strongly suspected that they have committed similar offences elsewhere, and that there are former convictions against the male prisoner; they are both remanded till 11 a. m.
