Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MR. V Whenever it is desired that any person shou\ d be appre- b d, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that " Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in tlve POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for iusertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," aa they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS ARSON ANB WILFUL BURNING About 7 o'clock on the night of the 29th ultimo, a Stack of Wheat, Barley, Oats, and Straw, the property of Mr, Christopher George Coates, of Langton- by- Horncastle, Lincoln- shiie, were fired by an incendiary, and wholly destroyed. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the offender or offenders, will receive £ 20 from the Treasuier of the horncastle New Asso- ciation iu addition to £ 20 offered by Mr. Christopher George Coatee, and every lawful measure shall be adopted for the purpose of saving harmless any person or persons impeaching his or their accomplice or accomplices. In addition to the above leward it is apprehended that further rewards will be given by Government, and by the Midland Counties Fire Office. Provided the reward he claimed by more than one person, or more than one be convicted of the 6aid offence, only one reward of £ 40 will he paid, and the Members of the Association reserve to themselves the exclusive right of deciding to whom and in what proportion it shall he paid, and then decision shall ba final.— Bow strict, February 5. On the night of the 27th ultimo, a cart shed was wilfully set on fire, at Aston Hall, Claverley, whereby a considerable amount of property was destroyed. Whoever will give Buch information ;. s shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders will receive a reward of £ 20 from the Claverley Association for the Prosecution of Felons, and a further reward from Mr. Wilson, the owner of the property. Information to be given to Inspector Wood, Police Station, Crewe.— Bow- street, January 31. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. On the 26th ultimo the dwelling- house of David Roberts, of Rhosucha, Merionethshire, was broken into, and the follow- ing proi erty stolen therefrom : a pair of black cloth Trousers, lined with brown calico, fall front, watch pocket, dark bone buttons ; a pair of black and white plaid woollen cloth Trousers, nearly new, lined with brown calico, fall front, and watch pocket ; two single- breasted black cloth Vests buttons up to the neck, small collars, one nearly new, lined with white calico; a dark grey cloth double breasted Overcoat, two pockets in the front with flaps, lined with dark coloured stuff, two lows of black covered buttons, a small slit behind ; a white and brown plaid woollen Shirt, buttons behind, small band for collar, white bone buttons on front and wristbands ; a white calico Shirt, linen collar and wristbands, torn a little on one side of neck below the collar, white bone buttons on front and wristbands ; a large white diaper Table Cloth ; and a Razor, with black haft, in a black case without the top. Supposed by a man 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair and sandy whiskers, full red face, and stoutly built, with a small cast or a turn in his left eye ; dressed in fustian trousers, yellow flush single- breasted waistcoat, a dark cloth monkey jacket, and a black jimcrow hat. Information to be given to Inspector Hughes, Bala, or to PC. Evans, Llandrillo, Corvvtn, Merionethshire.— Bow- street, February 6. During the night of the 31st ultimo the dwelling- house of John Butler, grocer and draper, Ruckinge, Kent, was broken and tntered, and the following property stolen : three pairs of new corduroy Trousers, lined, men's size ; three coloured flannel Shirts, men's size ; aud a piece of lavender coloured flannel Shirting, about 7 yards. Information to be given to Superintendent Dewar, Kent County Constabulary, Ashford. — Bow street, February 5. Between the hours of 11 p. m. on the 1st, and 6 a. m. on the 2od inst., the dwelling- house of William Alcock ( the ' Blue Boys' Inn), in the paribh of Brenchley, was burglariously entered and the following property stolen : two green Hams, and part of a Ham dried and cooked, one hand of Pork, 3 lbs. of new Butter, one loaf of home made Bread, one dozen of Tea Cakes, and a whitish brown Cloth. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tonbridge.— Bow- st., February 5. During the night of the 1st instant, a watchmaker's shop in Darlington was entered by means of skeleton keys, and the following property stolen therefrom : from twemy to thirty silver Albert and Guard Chains, secret link and snake pattern ; an oval Brooch set in silver, cornelian stone, with a silver cross in centre ; a plated Bracelet to fasten round wrist, with a case for photograph in the centre ; three gold enamelled Breast Pins, ' In Memory of' enamelled on outer edge ; about thirty pairs of gold Ear Rings ; several gold Lockets and gold Keys ; two large massive Bilver Brooches, set round with white stone ; several twisted silver Brooches ; some silver Pencil Cases ; and three or four dozen German silver Watch Guards. Supposed by two men of the following description : one between 20 and 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark complexion, eyes sore and ( apparently inflamed, dark hair, and small dark whiskers, proportionate figure, and dressed in dark coat, vest, and trousers, dark cap, and lace- up boots with brass eyelet- I holes nearly new ; the other is about 22 years of age, 5 feet j 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, no whiskers, ! sknder figure, and dressed in a light suit, light cloth cap, and white muffler; he spoke the Newcastle- upon- Tyne dialect. Information to be given to Superintendent Rogers, Darlington, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, February 5. On the morning of the 2nd instant, the premises of Messrs. Douglas and Eggleton were burglariously entered, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a silver Chalice with handle and top, more than a foot high ; two silver Patens, an inscription on each ; two large silver Plates for collecting alms, ' Maria Shipton' on one, aud on the other an inscription in Latin from Nehemiah, 13th chapter, 14th verse ; a small silver Spoon, perforated ; a puce coloured frieze Overcoat, drab velvet collar, pockets at sides and lined with black and white check ; a black aud green check pattern cloth mixture shooting Jacket; two pairs of Boots, one of patent leather, the other calf, with elastic sides. Also on the same morning from the house of Mr. Marriott, Great Missenden : an Overcoat of heavy blue witney cloth, pockets inside and out, velvet collar, silk covered buttons, a pair of Spectacles and case in pocket; five silver Tea Spoons; a small silver Mustard Spoon, the edge of bowl slightly broken; three German silver Spoons, a gingham Umbrella, a pair of side- spring Boots, a Neck Wrapper, orange and w hite ground with tc irlct edging. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Job Denson, Police Station, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street, February 5. During the night of the 2nd instant, Weddington Castle, near Nuneaton, was broken and enttred, and the following property stolen therefrom : 10 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' K.' 4 silver Salt Spoons, two of them marked ' K.' 1 small old- fashioned silver Cream Jug, marked ' K.' 1 electro- plated Teapot. 1 silver Inkstand, with inscription ' Presented to Mr. Kay by his Brothers and Sisters.' Information to be given to Superintendent Austin, Nuneaton, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, February 5. Description of a man who broke out of a lodging- house at Wilton, about 4 a. m. on the 4th instant, stealing a quantity of Wearing Apparel, & c. : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, thin pockpitted face, little speck on one side, thin dark brown hair and whiskers meeting under chin, gold rings in ears; dressed in blue flannel guernsey, very dark tweed trousers, and cap with peak ; may now be weariDg some of the btolen property. He is supposed to have a wife living iu Southampton or Winchester, and may be found in low public houses or lodging- houses. Property stolen : two white calico Shirts; a blue striped Shirt; two short white Slops; three cotton ( Neckerchiefs ; a black corded Topcoat in shape of a frock coat, pockets inside breast ; a pair of men's spring- side Boots, recently soled and clumped ; a pair of women's side- spring Boots, leather tops and patent toes; a pair of men's red knitted worsted Socks, quite new; a large woollen scarf Shawl, brown ground and blue plaid ; a leather Portemonnaie, containing a Sovereign aud some Silver; a Case of two Razors, one tortoiseshell and the other black handled ; j lb. of Tea ; 1 lb. of Loaf Sugar ; 1 lb. of Cheese ; 2 lbs. of a hock of Bacon; a brown cotton Umbrella ; and other articles. Information to be given to Superintendent Matthews, Fisherton, Salisbury, Wilts.— Bow- street, February 5. During the night of the 29th ultimo, the house of Michael Hamer, of the city of Bahaillion, was burglariously entered, and a quantity of white Rags, and about 15 lbs. of Horsehair, was stolen : supposed by tramps, one of them wore strong navvy boots, with large headed nails in the fore parts, the heels tipped, and the inside of the tip is filled level with leather, and tacked in with small sprigs. Information to be given to Superintendent Danily, Newton, or to Police Constable Owen, Kerry, Montgomeryshire.-— Bow- street, February 2. Stolen from Rockfield Lugwardine, near Hereford, some time during the night of the 31st ultimo, by means of house- breaking, the following property : 18 Table Spoons, 16 Dessert ditto, 13 Tea ditto, 1 Gravy ditto, 4 Salt ditto, 5 Egg ditto, 1 Sugar Basin, 1 Milk Jug, 14 large Forks, 15 small ditto, 1 Soup Ladle, 2 Sauce ditto, 1 small Waiter, 1 Teapot, 2 small Cups with handles, 1 small Cup without handle, all silver and marked with crest— an eagle, the cups are also engraved with names. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Shire Hall, Hereford, or to any Police Officer.— Bow street, Feb. 2. Description of CHARLES HOE, of Spalding, labourer J who absconded on the 29th ultimo, charged with housebreak- ing on the 27th ult. : he is 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair completion, grey eyes, light brown hair cut short, rather long face; scar on left elbow, and dressed in a brown cloth jacket, pockets outside, brown cloth ve& t, cord trousers, and grey cap ; he has been to sea, and may probably endea- vour to get employed on a ship, or as an under ostler. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Leaper, Police Station, Spalding, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, February 2. Stolen on the 29th ultimo, by means of housebreaking, from Charles Billsby, of Rye Foreign, an opened twilled Frock, a pair of speckled worsted Stockings, a pair of old cord Trousers, a black and yellow livery Waistcoat, and an old blue pilot Coat; by his son, who is ] 9 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slightly made, dark hair and complexion, is a broom dasher, and sometimes collects skins, is well known in Kent, at Benenden, Biddenden, and Tenterden, and was seen at Rolvenden, Kent, the day after the robbery. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superin- tendent Jeffery, Guestliug, Sussex.— Bow- strcet, February 2. Between the hours of 5 and 9 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. Luigi Barni, at Knowle, near Bristol, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a gold Albert Chain with a spade Guinea and a two- sovereign Piece attached, two gold cameo Studs, a set of gold Studs, a set of silver Studs, a gold Shirt Link, a blue silk Dress with black lace flounce, a pair of gold Ear- rings, two plated Brooches, and £ 11 iu Gold. Information to be given to Superintendent Jones, Long Ashton, Somersetshire.— Bow- street, February 2. Further information respecting the burglary at Aldbro, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 24th instant : one of the £ 5 Notes issued in 1841 or 1842, is stained with red ; supposed stolen by a man of the followiug description : about 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, light coloured overcoat, black low- crowned hat ; he left Aldbro on the morning of the robbery by 6 o'clock train for Ipswich, supposed with the stolen property. Information to be given to Superintendent Creasey, Yoxford, or to the Aldbro Police, Suffolk.— Bow- street, January 31. Further information respecting the five men suspected of committing the burglary at Sedgehill House, on the night of the 23rd instant: one about 5 i' « . et 8 or 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, well built, walks erect with firm step, blotches on face, scrofulous mark down the side of his face and under chin ; dressed in a light cloth overcoat, light woollen cord trousers, muffler round his neck, low- crowned flat hat ; he is remarkably quiet in his manner. Information to be given to Superintendent Abbott, Warminster, or to Superintendent Dann, hindon, Wilts.— Bow- street, January 31. During the night of the 27th instant, a dwelling- house in Hull was broken and entered, and the following property stolen ; one dozen silver Tea Spoons, six of which are marked ' K.'; a silver Dessert Spoon, a pair of silver Sugar Bows, a pair of silver Salt Spoons, two Crown Pieces of George III and IV, a small French Coin, and 15 yards of black Silk. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable A. MacManus, Hull.— Bow- street, January 31. Between 2 and 7 a m. on the 28th instant, the dwelling- house of John Boler, of Tinsley, farmer, was broken and entered, and two snnll old- fashioned silver Tea Spoons, a pair of silver Sugar Tongs with a piece brokon off the ends, and £ 7 in Gold was stolen therefrom. Sifppo.- ed by two tramping blacksmiths, who were seen near the premises, the. evening previous to the burglary, an 1 were on the following moniing dressed in the stolen clothes : one, about 25 years of age, 5 e, l 7 or 8 inches high, pnepoi cionate make, thui features, sandy beard, and wears a tuft of hair on cloth cap with peak, very old lace- up boots, a large piece cut out of the side of uppers of one of the boots, he also wears a blacksmith's round | round the bottom, and old shoes. She was convicted of larceny a' Hastings, in November 18( 51, and sentenced to two months, and again 7th July 10152, for larceny, and sentenoed to six months' imprisonment ; the is a prostitute, and is supposed to be known at Canterbury and Ashford Keut. Llandilofaur, Carmarthenshire, charged with stealing a canvas I Jacket; a pair of corduroy Troupers; a pair ot woollen On the 26th instant, between the hours of: 7 a m, and 5 30 Stockings ; and a leather Purse, containing £ 3 18s. 7Ad. : p. m., the cottage of John Webb, situate at Kayson- hill, in the about 2t! or 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark parish of Berrow, was broken and entered,- by forcing the door hair and'whiskers, florid complexion, long thin nose, stout open with a potato fork, and a Half- sovereign, aud other Silver built ; dressed in cord trousers, cmvas jacket with a dark cloth and Copper Monies, amounting in all to about 30s., was stolen coat over it, and red cravat; and had with him a pair of grey therefrom.
