W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the morning of the 24th instant the body of a full- grown male child was found, wrapped in a piece of old black merino, the outside wrapper was a piece of enutf4> rown coburg, apparently a breadth taken . from a female's dress, and had been torn aud mended. The bundle was placed in an old tomb in the parish churchyard of Leominster. A coroner's inquest was held on the body, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown ' returned. The merino and coburg may be seen at the Borough Police Station. Stolen on the 25th instant, from the person at Stockport, a silver Geneva Watch, No. 11738, with fa steel fob Chain attached. About 12 midnight on the 26th instant, Joseph Quinn, of Leeds, picture framer, was attacked by two men on the turn- pike road ia the township of Glass Houghton, near Pontefract, and robbed of a Portemonnaie, containing about £ 4 in Gold and Silver, two small Pocket Books, aud a piece of Lead Pencil. One of the men is about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, has a scar from a cut ori chin ; dressed in a brown cloth coat and vest, corduroy trouserf. The other about the asme age, 6 feet 2 or 3 inches high, a little whisker on end of chin ; dressed in brown cloth coat aud cap, white slop, corduroy trou » ers. Stolen on the 22ud instant, Irom the person of a gentle- man at Darlington, a j- plate lever told Watch, jewelled in 4 holes, seconds pointer, aud white dial, maker McKenny, London, No. 169, a gold mourning Ring, set with blue stones, a monogram ' J. F.' and ' In Memory of James Jonathan and Dorothy Feetum' engraved on inside; ulso a gold puzzle King consisting of four distinct rings. Information to be given to Superintendent Rogers, Darlington, Durham. — Bow- street, April 26. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Further information respecting the burglary at the shop of Messrs. Fox, drapers, Devizes, advertised in tl> e Police Gazette of the 17th ultimo : several valuable Paisley Shawls liave also been missed. A reward of £ 10 will be given on con- viction of the offender or offenders, and a further reward of £ 50 upon testoiation of the property, or in proportion thereto. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Devizes, Wilts.— Bow- street, May 3. During the night of the 1st instant, a house at Astley was broken and entered, and the following silver articles were stolen : a quart Tankard ( plain), a Coffeepot and Stand, a Tea- pot and Stand ( both engraved), two Salvers, a Muffineer, a set of Castors, three silver Tops, a small set of Castors, a Funnel, a Soup Ladle, four Sauce Ladies, a Gravy Spoon, a Fish Slice, a Marrow Spoon, a Butter Knife, twelve Forks with four prongs, twelve Table Spoons, eight Dessert Spoons, eleven Tea Spoons, three Salt Spoons, a pair of Asparagus Tongs, and a Toast Rack ; all the above articles, except the quart tankard, have the crest— a mailed arm and dagger, springing from an armorial coronet, engraved on them. Stolen from a shop window at bolton, during the night of the 27th ultimo, by means of breaking a pane of glass : 1 peach, brown and yellow woollen ulaid Shawl. 4 pairs of women's new elastic side Boots. 2 women's odd elastic- side Boots, one far worn, the other nearly new. 1 man's white linen Shirt, patched with cotton on one shoulder. Also stolen from another shop w indow during the night of the 21st ultimo : 1 black and white woollen plaid Neckerchief. 1 scarlet plaid ditto. 3 boy's plaid Neck- scarfs. 21 yards of light brown mottled Wintey. 48 yards of dark brown Winsey. 20 yards of flowered Musl'n. 3 ounces of sewing Silk, various colours. Information to be given to Chief Constable James Harris Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, May 1. pearls, two Shillings, eight Sixpences, and a quantity of copper Money. Information to ' « given to Head Constable John Walter Hewett, Tynemouth — Bow- street, May 1. During the night of the 22nd instant, the dwelling- houses of Wm. Robinson, of Blatherwick, and Ambrose Gutteridge, of Deene, were broken and entered, and the following property stolen : three pairs of lace- up Shoes, one pair with brass eyelet- holes, one of the other pairs had been recently soled, and two patches on the inside near the toes ; a pair of blue worsted Stockings; an old black cloth double- breasted Waistcoat; three coarse Towels ; two old unbleached calico Shirts ; three cotton Aprons; two calico Chemises; some black- handled Knives and Forks ; and a quantity of Bacon, Eggs, Bread, & c. Supposed by two youiig men, tramps, who were seen in the neighbourhood during the previous day, and who left a pair ol old boots behind them : one about 5 feet 3 inches high, sandy moustache, short sandy hair on chili; dressed in a short dark jacket: the other about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, inclined to curl, dark eomplexion and whiskers]; dressed in Scotch cap, old brown cloth coat aud trousers. They are accompanied by two young women, supposed to be hawking clothes- pegs and tinware. Information to be given to Superintendent Noble, Oundle, Northamptonshire.— Bow- streut, April 28. During the night of ti e 19; ii ultimo, a grocery and pro- vision shop, at Ha: e, Cheshire, was broken into, aud a quantity of Provisions and Grocery, 6 old- fashioned silver TeaSpoons, marked ' T. M. C.,' a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' ' I' M. C.,' and 3 German silver Tea Spoons, were stolen. At 3' 30 a. m. on the 20 h ultimo three men who violently assaulted Police Constable Eastwood, of the Cheshire Constabulary, were met on the railway bridge at Timperley, with the stolen pro- perty in their possession. One was a tall mail, dressed in dark clothes and billycock hat ; the other two were about 5 feet 7 inches higtf, iMid woie cups. A reward of £ 10 will bo paid to any person giving such information to Superintendent Andrews, Lymn, or to Sergeant Aston, Altrincham, Cheshire, as will lead to their apprehtn- ion and conviction.— Bow- street, May 1. During the night of tiie 26th ultimo, the London and North Western Railway Station, nt Chapei- en le- Frith, was broken and entered, and a Half- Sovereign, 7s. worth of Postage Stamps, two old verge Watches, otie without dial, and steel Chain attached, was stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Superintendent Hudson, Chapel- en- le- Frith, Derby- shire.— Bow- street, May 1. During the night of the 28th ultimo, the ' Royal Hotel,' Monks Coppenhall, was broken and entered, and a large Fish Carver and Fork, 2 Gravy Spoons, 5 Table Spoons, li Desert Spoons, 12 Tea Spoons, 6 Mustard Spoons, 4 Salt Spoons, 11 Table Forks, 12 small Table Forks, 2 pair of Nut Crackers, all electro silver plated, thread and shell pattern ; a Carpet Bag, striped pattern, and about 1 lb. of Cigars were stolen therefrom. Five guineas reward will bs paid by the Monks Coppenhall Association for the Prosecution of Felons, on con- viction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Laxton, Nantwich, or to Acting Inspector Wood. Police Station, Crewe.— Bowstrect, May 1. On the afternoon of the 25th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Room, of East Cottingwith, farmer, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a brown cloth Coat, with two pockets outside, and one inside left breast, four Hat horn buttons in front, and lined with black calico ; a black clolli Ve.- t, lined with slate- coloured calico ; a pair of brown cloth Trousers; a black silk Handkerchief with white spots; a pair of drab worsted Stockings; and two odd Blucher Boots, tile right boot has four lace- holes, and the left only three. Supposed by a mail of the following description, who is going about the country singing in public- houses penny hymns and songs : from 20 to 23 years of age, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, tallow complexion, light brown hair, very small whiskers, and has H wound on the right ankle ; dressed, when la^ t seen, in a long skirted pepper- and- salt- coloured coat, black vest, old dark trousers, ragged at the bottoms, dark cloth cap with peak, and is supposed to bt weating the stolen blucher boots. In'ormatiou to lie given to Superintendent Thomas Long, East Riding Constabulary, Market Weighton.— Bow- street, May 1. During the night of the 25th instant, the Blyth and Tyne Railway Station, at Tynemouth, was broken and entered, and a grey cloth Coat with pockets outside, and Vest, were stolen therefrom. Also stolen on the ivi^ ht of the 26th ultimo, from the bar of the ' Bath Hotel Tynemouth, by means of housebreaking, J lb. Tobacco in half ounces, a cold Finger Ring set with HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Description of JOHN TAYLOR, of Burringham, Lin- colnshire, charged on warrant with haviug stolen a Ham ( since recovered), at Thome, Yorkshire, on the 29th ultimo ; a navvy, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh com- plexion, brown hair and whiskers meeting under chin, stoutly built; dressed in white slop, fustian trousers, strong lace- up boots, and black cap. Information to be given to Superinten- dent D. Astwood, West Riding Constabulary, Doncaster, or to Police Constable ( No. 181) Snowden, West Riding Consta- bulary, Thome, Yorkshire.— Bow street, May 3. Supposed to have been stolen from the Newns, near Ellesmere; Salop. >, on the 8th ultimo, a black tod white shepherd Bitch : about i years old, long smooth harlr, and white stripe down the face, answers to the name of ' Topsey 10s. reward will he given on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, if stoleu. Information to be given to Sergeant Thomas, Police Station, Ellesmere, Salop. - Bow- street, May 3. Further information respecting the man advertised in the Police Gazette of the 28th ultimo, suspected of stealing a Mare and Colt at Shepscombe. He is believed to lie the tame man as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 17th of March last, for horse stealing at Fallow, in company of a woman and two boys now in custody ; he is also suspected of stealing from Cranham, on the night of the 13th ultimo, a set of brass- mounted light cart Harness, about half worn out, the collar is of brown leather, nearly new, both traces have been repaired, and also the driving rein near the bit; this man is supposed to be travelling with gipsies. Information to be given to Super- intendent W. Hanbridge, Stroud, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, May 1. The black nag Horse, Saddle, and Bridle stolen from a stable at Long Bennington, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 26th ultimo, have been recovered, and a mail of the following description is charged with stealing the same: he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark straight hair, sallow complexion, and very little ( if any) whiskers ; dressed in a dark cloth frock coat, pockets on each side with Haps, dark cloth vest, drab trousers, and an old- fashioned black billycock hat with a broad ribbon band ; he left the horse at the ' Three Tuns' public- house, Rotherham, at 10a. m. on the 24th ultimo. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, County Police Office, Grantham, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, May 1. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Coleblow, in the parish of South Narherth, on the night of the 13th ultimo, a bay Filly, 2 years old, 14J hands high, has a mark from a cut on the inside of the near hind leg, above the hock which cannot be seen unless closely examined, and in good condition. Information to be given to Captain A. O. B. Stokes, Chief Con- stable for Pembrokeshire, Haverfordwest, or to Superintendent Kelly, Pembroke, Pembrokeshire.— Bow- street, May 1 Stolen during the night of the 27th of August last, a horse Pony, now 4 years old, about 13 hands high, the head, neck, legs, and tail of a very dark sorrel colour, aud, if the old coat is now on, it will be very white over the rump and body, the letter ' B.' printed on the off or light shoulder, is well bred, carries his head very well, is very handsome in harness, and trots well. It is now supposed to be in London. A reward of £ 5! will, be paid for its recocovery, aud conviction of the offender or offenders, by applying to George F. Bowles, ' Royal Oak," New Forest, or by giving information at the Police Station, Lyndhurst, Hants— Bow- street, May 1. Supposed to have been stolen from a field, at Queen's Cross, Dudley, on the night of the 23rd ultimo, a roan coloured Vlare, about 13 hands high, rising 6 years old, tail cut, slight scar on for. head, and in good condition. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Henry Burton, Dudley, Wor- cestershire.— Bow- street, May 1. Stolen during the night of the 26th ultimo, from Felsted, Essex, a bay light cart Gelding, 8 years old, 14£ hands high, black legs, long tail, broken knee", overshot in fetlock joint of hind leg, and in good condition. Two men ure suspected : one about 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, black curly hair, A JO V E / y 2 POLICE; gazette. May 3 copper colour skin ; dressed iu a. long rough grey coat ftearly touching the ground, and of gipsy like appearance ; the other about 3n years of age, 6 feet 6 irtches high ; dressed in a puce- coloured coat, old light coloured cord trousers. They had with them a home- made rough looking cart, the body of which wi, s 6 feet long by 6 feet wide, the body and one wheel painted green, tbe other wheel red. Information to he . given to the Superintendent of Police, Gt. Dunmow, Essex.— Bow- street, May 1. Supposed to have beeu stolen on the night of tbe 22nd instant, from a field in the parish of Condover, Salop, the pro- perty of Mrs. Heyward, a fat Lamb, 2 months old. 7 guineas reward wilt trt paid to any person who will give such informa- tion as shall lead to tbe apprehension and conviction of the offender 6r offenders. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Ivins, County Police Office, Shrewsbury, Ot to Sergeant Scale, Dorrington, Salop — Bow- street, April 28. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT?. Absconded from Tunbridge, Kent, charged with stealing a Jacket, a round Frock, and a pair of Boot Legs, which have been r. covered : JOHN WOODHAMS, about 20 years of age, a feet (! inctus high, fair complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers, sharp features, and rather prominent teeth ; dressed when last seen, in a white slop, old moleskin trousers, and old I> atched half boots. He will probably get work as a brick- ayers' labourer. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tunbridge, Kent, who holds a warrant for fiis apprehension. — Bow- stred, May 3. Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from No. 49, Tachbrook- street, Pimlico: a gold Geneva Watch, gold dial, maker Loogi, Geneva, No. 8609. By a female, about 26 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, and light brown hair ; dressed in a brown dress, green bonnet covered with green velvet, black mantle, and steel brooch.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, May 3. Stolen between 10 p. m. 27th, and 6 a. m. 28th ultimo' from No. 40, Bury- street, St. James's : A pair of double Field- Glasses, ' Carey, Strand,' in gold letters, in a black leather case. A brown bilk Umbrella, in oil kin cover. A plain gold Stud. A copper card Plate, engraved ' Col. Bennett, 20th Regt.' A pair of black cloth Trousers. Several pairs of Socks. A pair ot small Scissors. About 30s. in Silver. Some old Bills of Exchange on the ' Oriental Bank Cor- poration,' Threadneedle- street. By a man, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in a black co< t and vest, light tweed trousers, aud black hat.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, May 3. Absconded, stealing two Coats, James Perkins, 24 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, swathy complexion, dark moustache, slim built ; dressed in a black mourning coat, and hat. A warrant is granted for his apprehension.— Metropolitan Police, F Division, May 3. Absconded on the 17th ultimo THOMAS MIDDLETON, charged with stealing a glazier's Diamond ( which has been, recovered), at Tunbridge, about the^ 13th December last: 24 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, thin face, light hair, little beard under chin, no whiskers ; dressed iu black cloth coat, dark billycock hat, and balmoral boots. He is a painter and glazier, and supposed to be working in London. Information to be given to Superintendent R. Dance, 1 Tunbridge, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bou>- street, May 1. Description of THOMAS EAGLES, alias TAWNEY, who absconded from Lamberhurst, Kent, on the 20th March last, charged with stealing a Handcart ( since recovered) : about 40 year^ of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, swarthy complexion, dark brown hair, little or no whiskers; dressed in old round frock or old velveteen shooting jacket and cap. He sometimes collects rags and bones. Information to be given to Super- intendent R. Dance, Police Court, Tunbridge, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 1. Absconded from Sutton Veney, on the 25th ultimo, a man, recently discharged from Fisherton Gaol, about 30 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light brown hair, no beard or whiskers ; dressed in a red aud light brown mixture coat, pepper- and bait coloured trousers, dark cloth cap, lace- up boots with toe- caps, each boot broken at the bottom of tbe laceholes. He is charged with stealing 1 stiver Tea Spoon, marked ' W. S. B.,' and 2 metal Spoons; he was carrying a long bag like a large pillow- case, which he stole at Salisbury. H. stops at common lodging- house, and goes about collecting rags. Information to be given to Superintendent Abbott, War minster.— Bow- street, May 1. Description of a man who absconded from his lodgings at High- street, Poole, between 3 and 4 a in. on the 29th ultimo, who is charged with stealing 20s. in silver Money, a Purse, a roller Towel, a small ditto, a pair of electro- plated Sugar Tongs, a pair of grey worsted Stockings, a white- handled Knife, and the Pattern and Materials lor making a little girl's jacket: about 55 or 60 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and small whiskers, pock pitted, has rather a downcast look, and slightly built ; dressed like a sailor, with low Bhoes with hobnails in soles. He states that he has been at sea for many years, but that he is now a fir pole dealer, and his lately sold a large quantity to a gentleman residing at Bournemouth, and that his place of residence is Pokesdown. He has been going from town to town, obtaining several sums of money by representing himself to be a ship carpenter who bad lost his tools, and was anxious to get new oues, as he had work to go to, and sometimes that lie had his tools in pledge, and wanted a few shillings to as- ist him to redeem them. In- formation to be given to the Chief Superintendent of Police, Police Office, Poole, Dorsetshire.— Bow- street, May 1. Stolen on the 19th ultimo, from the dwelling- house of Charles Bilsby, at Rye, an old- fashioned silver Watch with plain figures on the face, a German silver Guard, with a four- pennv piece attached, a Crown- piece, and a crooked Sixpence. By his son, who is frequently in company of broom dashers, in the neighbourhood of Biddenden, and adjoining parishes in Kent. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Offici, Lewes, to Superintendent Jeffery Guestling, or to Sergeant Johnson, Beck ley, Sussex.— Bow- street, May 1. Stolen about 3 p. m. on the 27th ultimo, from the parlour of the ' Bay Horse ' inn, Otley, a silver lever Watch, English make, engine- turned case, silver flowered dial, gold figures and hands, seconds hands, e. blue coloured mark trom a scratch on dial near the figure 9, "' Warrington,' on works, and had a small black Silk riband attached. By a man who had the appearance of a commercial traveller, and carried a brown paper parcel containing 2 or 3 boxes of Cigars which he was endeavouring to' seH. About 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches highvtpare mak^ pale complexion, full eyes, dark hair, dark mountflhe. and hair oii chin ; dressed in a dirk grey mixture clom Jacket with pockets on hips, and black liat. Information to be given to Superintendent Smith, West Riding Constabulary, Otley, Yorkshire — Boii- street, May 1. , Description of CHARLES BRIGHURST, a native of Gravesend, who is charged with stealing, on the 22nd instant, at Lanceby, Lincolnshire, a man's grey Overcoat : 18 years ot age, 5 feet 3 or 4 incites high, blue eyes, light brown haif cut sjioi- t, large head, thin face, pockpitted, and s: > ut made; ' feted ih £ blue serge shirt, grey'mixture Guernsey, fustian trousers, old Wellington boots, and cloth cap with peak. He has sailed in and out of Grimsby in a fishing smack, for the last few months, and waS seen with the stolen coat in Grimsby on the 23rd instant. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Walter Woolven, County Police Station, Gt. Grimsby, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 28. He is a tramping navvy, 42 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair turning grey, dark brown whiskers meeting under the chin, Roman nose with cut mark on right side, middle finger of right hand contracted, first finger off left hand ; dressed in slate- coloured woollen Top- coat, tustian vist with velvet front, cord trousers recently mended on left knee, black bowler hat, and strong navvy hoots ; states that he last worked at Guisborough, and is a native of Market Drayton, S. ilop ; it is supposed that he has committed offences elsewhere, and has been previously convicted.
