W.," aa they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. About 8 p. m. on the 25th ultimo two guns, loaded with shot, were tired through the window of John Holt, of Llanymynech- hill, thereby endangering the li'fres of John Holt and his family. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, and every effort will be made to obtain a free pardon for any accomplice not being the actual per- petrator of the offence. Information to be given to Police Constable A. Breeze, Llandisilio, or to Chief Constable J. Hodgson, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, Feb. 1. On the 18th instant the dead Body of a newly- born female child was found in a field at Chichester, wrapped in a pair of woman's drawers, a white skirt, and the skirt of a print dress all done up in a brown paper parcel, and tied round with a piece of string ; a coroner's inquest was held, and a verdict returned of ' Found dead.' Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Everett, Chichester, Sussex. — Bow- street, January 25. FORGERY. further description of PETER OWEN, alias HANKIN- SON, Sea., charged on a warrant with forgery, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 11th instant: slenderly made, long nose, brown hair, and squeaking voice. Has with him a woman and three children, the eldest a girl, about 10 years of age; he frequents low lodging- houses, and was last seen in Lancashire dressed in a blue slop and representing that he was a turn- out collier from Staffordshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Andrews, Lymm, Cheshire.— Boa- street, January 23. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen about 3' 30 p. m. on the 17th ultimo, from the person of a gentleman in Corporation- street, Manchester, a gold lever Watch, white dial, steel hands, No. 19790. Any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and convic- tion of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the said watch, shall receive £ 2 2s. reward, on application to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Town Hall, King- street, Manchester.— Bow- street, February 1. Stolen by a female about 8- 30 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, from the person of a gentleman, between Victoria bridge and Victoria Station, Manchester, a patent lever silver Watch, No. 13095, has a seconds hand. £ 1 reward will be paid on conviction of the thief and recovery of the watch. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Captain Palin, Town Hall, Manchester; at any Police Station in the city of Manchester ; or to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Ashton- under- Lyne.— Bow- street, February 1. Stolen from the person at Brighton on the evening of the 25th instant, a silver Geneva Watch, « W. L.' scratched on the back, and a snake pattern silver Albert Chain. By a prostitute, about 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, stout make, full face ; supposed dressed in a dark green bonnet with a feather in it. Informa- tion to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Brighton. — Bow- street, January 27. On the night of the 10th instant, Mr. Edward Smith was attacked on the road about half a mile from Newtown, and robbed of a leather bag Purse, containing £ 31 10s. itfGold and 5s. in Silver, a Pocket- book, and an old- fashioned silver pair- case verge Watch, maker Devenport, Dublin, No.'' 969, with steel Albert Chain attached, by three men: one is about 6 feet high, and dressed in dark clothes and cap ; the others of middle size, and dressed in dark clothes and caps. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Danily, Newtown, Mont- gomeryshire.— Bow- street, January 23. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 9 p. m. the 29th and 5 a. m. on the 30th ultimo, the dwelling- house of James Richardson, farmer, Hardy- lane, Chorlton- cum- Hardy, was broken and entered, and the follow- ing property stolen therefrom : 1 linen Sheet; 1 cotton ditto ; 1 white linen Bolster Slip ; 1 grey linen ditto ; 4 double warped calico Pillow Slips, with four strings on each, new ; 1 grey calico Mattress Cover, new; 1 calico Nightgown, with muslin frill round the neck and wristbands about 3 inches wide ; 1 calico Nightgown, with narrow wristbands, and- open in front half way ; 3 calico Shirts, with white covered buttons, boy's size, nearly new; 2 linen Shirts, open behind, h& lf worn, men's size, and newly mended at the bottom; 1 new grey holland Apron, marked ' J. R.' in white cotton on the band ; 1 grey canvas Apron ; 1 blue striped cotton Apron ; 3 roller Towels, two of which are nearly new ; 4 linen Tea Towels, half worn ; 1 linen Collar, man's size ; 9 linen Collars, boy's size, three turn- down ; 2 twilled calico Nightcaps, one with edging ; 1 diaper Table Cloth, much worn and marked with iron mould; 1 grey linen Dresser Cloth, 2 yards long and 1 yaru wide, much worn; 1 linen Chemise, with crotchet edging round the neck and sleeves about 1 inch wide, much worn ; 1 piece of grey Canvas, 1 yard square, and hemmed at the sides ; all these articles were wet. A pair of strong lace- up Boots, man's size, the toes and heels tipped with iron, and about nine holes on each side, much worn ; 2 pairs of yellow leather Gaiters, buttons up the sides, and come well up on the thigh ; 2 Horse Cloths, with black and red stripes, a large leather strap on each to come round the breast, new ; 1 old Horse Cloth, with black and red stripes, much worn, a leather strap on each side. Suspicion is attached to a farm labourer who was discharged from Mr. Richardson's service on the 21st ult., who is a native of Cheadle, Cheshire, 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stoutly built, round shouldered, dark hair ( cut short) and whiskers ; dressed in a round cotton cord jacket and vest, brown cloth trousers ( newly fronted with rough cloth), and clogs. Information to be given to Superintendent Chadwick, County Constabulary, Old Trafford, near Man- chester.— Bow- street, February 3. Further particulars respecting the burglary at the Palace of the Bishop of Chester, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 30th ultimo. Five persons have been apprehended, viz.: JOSEPH BANKS, alias MICK FLANNEGAN, alias NEWCASTLE MICK, 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair, proportionate make, walks erect, grey eyes, heavy eyebrows, tresh complexion, slight moustache, rather wide mouth, good- looking, and tattooed on both arms ; dressed in dark clothes, elastic- side boots, and round felt hat: has been convicted in Newcastle, Manchester, and Liverpool, for felony. CHRISTOPHER WELTON ( name supposed to be fictitious), 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, full fresh- coloured face, large stiff brown whiskers, chin shaved clean, very corpu- lent, and speaks the Newcastle- on- Tyne dialect; dressed in a dark tweed surtout coat, long in the skirt, dark vest, and fashionably made dark diagonal tweed trousers, soft billycock hat, and thin lace- up boots with brass eyelet- holes: hawks razors, & c. WILLIAM TASSINGER, alias DUBLIN, 28 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark complexion, black eyes, hair, and whiskers ( thickest under the chin), and slightly pockpitted ; dressed in a black billycock hat, blue pilot coat and vest, and dark cord trousers : hawks cheap jewellery, which he carries in a box covered with black leather strap round it. In his possession were found fifteen pairs of men's white cotton Gloves, which are supposed to have been stolen. MARY WELTON ( name supposed to be fictitious), 27 years of age, thin pale face, very high cheekbones, and small restless eyes ; dresses well, and has been living with Welton. MARY TASSINGER, alias SMITH, 28 years of age, tall, light hair, large coarse features, and badly dressed. A woman of the following description, who pledged one of the stolen coats the day after the burglary, is still at large: 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, black hair, hazel eyes, has a woman and sailor tattooed on left arm, • M. Mc.,' heart, • J. G.', and anchor on right arm, has marks of recent cuts on one of her arms, and a few days ago had one or two blackened eyes ; has served 12 months for a burglary at Tranmere, near Liverpool, and is well known to the police in Liverpool, Manchester, & c., as SCOTCH LIZZ. The grey Overcoat only hss been recovered. All the prisoners are suspected of having committed offences elsewhere. Information to be given to Chief Constable G. L. Fenwick, Chester.— Bow- street, February 3. Between 12 p. m. on the 29th and 7 a. m. on the 30th ultimo the dwelling- house of the Rev. R. Ellis, of Westerdale, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, was broken and entered, and a pair of Cossack Boots, man's size but very small, nearly new, very broad across the toes, two lace holes on each side, heel plates, nailed on the bottoms with small muds, stolen. Supposed by a man, 28 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 7 inches high, dark complexion and hair, much hair about face, stoutly built; dressed in dark cap, fustian clothes, and strong boots : had the appearance of a navvy on tramp. A button was found on the pantry floor, with a brass rim and a piece of horn in the centre, the size of a fourpenny piece, the rim on the top was flowered, on the neck side of the button ' Sporting — New Design' stamped on the brass. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, Stokesley, ot to Inspector Ralph Prest, Police Station, Guisborough.^ Bou>- street, February 3. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between the 21st and 27th ultimo, from the Hawick Archaeological Museum, a large collection of ancient gold, silver, copper, and bronze Coins, and foreign gold, silver, and copper Coins, among which were a gold Jacobus, 1601 or 1602, a silver 5s. Piece of Queen Anne, eight or nine gold East Indian Coins, various silver Coins of Edward, Queens Elizabeth and Mary, and William III, a silver Shilling of Henry VIII, and two Roman silver Coins; a Bank of Ireland Note for 5s., supposed date 1805, with many endorse- ments on back, and several American Greenbacks, from 5 to 50 dollars ; a pair of elephaut's Tusks, nearly 3 feet long ; two silver Rods, about 4 feet long, divided into three compartments by rings, the two under spaces plain spiral fluted, the upper a lozenge or diamond pattern, half- inch each side, and chased, top- rounded, diameter at bottom 1} inches, at top 3 or 3£ inches ( they will most likely be stripped of the silver ; a figure of an Elephant, 6 inches long by 5 inches high ; a Walrus Tooth ; two bronze Hindoo Household Gods : a small brass Russian Cross ; a Cross, Anchor, and Heart of polished steel; a small box of Seed Pearls, and various other articles. £ 10 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to the recovery of the whole or part of the property, and the conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Munro, Hawick, Roxburghshire.— Bow- street, February I. On the night of the 29th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Jane Beswick, Quay- road, Bridlington, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and stolen therefrom : 9 silver Table Spoons, old- fashioned, three of them marked ' I.'; 6 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' I.'; 6 silver Tea Spoons, old- fashioned ; 2 pairs of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' E. C.,' crest— a dove ; a small silver Butter Boat; a gold plated Brooch, with ruby stone ; a pearl Ring with hair, oval shaped, marked ' Nicholas Roberts.' Information to be given to Superintendent B. E. Naylor, Bridlington, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, lebruary 1. The dwelling- house of George Brazier, of Southwick, Sussex was broken into on the n% ht of the " SHh instant, and six old- fashioned Tea Spoons, a pair of silver Sug ® Tongs with a letter engraved on them, and about £\ stolen therefrom ; the spoons and tongs can be identified. Information to be given to Superintendent John Bray, West Sussex Constabulary, Stey- ning, or to Sergeant Juden, Shoreham, Sussex.— Bow- street, January 30. On the evening of the 26th instant two men broke the plate glass window of Mrs. Lockwood, jeweller, New- street, Huddersfield, by throwing a half- brick through it, and stole therefrom: three gold Watches, two of which have been re- covered, the other a lever, gold dial, No. 3920 ; a gold secret link Guard, a gold square belcher guard, and a gold fancy Guard. One of the men has been apprehended, and says his name is THOMAS WILLIAMS, from Diamond- street, Brad- ford, 20 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, marks round his chin from scrofula, nose bent to the right, large scar on right wrist, and has two teeth out in front of upper jaw, left side. The other is 5 feet 4 or 6 inches high, and dressed in dark clothing. Infoimation to be given to Chief Superintendent W. Hannan, Huddersfield.— Bow- street, January 27. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Bootle, by means of house- breaking, between 11- 45 p. m. on the 24th, and 7' 20 a. m. on the 25th instant, the following property: a pair of small- sized silver Tongs ; two silver Salt Spoons ; a silver Snuff- box, 2' ins. long and ljin. wide, bearing the inscription ' Presented to James Wilkinson, by the Choir of Lever- street Chapel'; an electro- plated basket Cruet Stand, containing eight bottles, the lid of which fastens with two screws in the shape of a bird ; an electro- plated Cake Basket, of a circular form, about 12 ins. across, and handle across ; a mahogany Stereoscope ; an oil Painting by Dolby, a retriever dog standing on a bank by a pool of water, in a figured gilt frame, 2 ft. long and 1 ft. 8 ins. wide ; an oil Painting, without frame, 2 ft. long and 1 ft. 7 ins. wide, subject, trees and rocks; a reversible merino Tablecloth, with black ground and red flowers on one side, and red ground and black flowers on the other ; a piece of red damask window Curtain, 12 ft. long by 7 ft. wide ; six boxes of Havanah Cigars ; and a meerchautn Pipe, in the shape of a bird's claw. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Old Swan, Police Office, Bootle, or at the Central Police Office, Dale- street, Liverpool.— Bow- street, January 27. On the night of the 22nd instant the dwelling- house of Mr. Taylor, Lair- gate, Beverley, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and the following articles stolen therefrom: two silver Table Spoons, one marked tC. D.'; six silver Tea Spoons, marked ' W. A. T.'; six ditto, marked ' E. C. H.'; six ditto, not marked; two pairs of silver Sugar Tongs, one marked ' T.', the other very old- fashioned ; three gold Wedding Rings, oneengraved inside ' Live and Love' ; and two pairs of gold Ear- rings, one broken near to the snap. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Pattison, Borough Police, Beverley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, January 25. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found in a field at Southcote Farm, near Reading, on the 6th ultimo, ( supposed to have been stolen), a bay nag Mare, aged, about 14 or 15 hands high, a small star in forehead, rough mane, switch tail, stands rather over at knees, slightly touched in the wind, and in bad condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Crook, Berks Constabulary Station, Reading.— Bow- street, February 3, Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Cottesbrooke, on the night of the 28th ultimo, a very dark iron- grey nag Colt, the property of the Hon. and Rev. P. A. Irby. about V 270 P O L I C E GAZETT E. February 6. years old, 15 hands high, Roman nose, small patch of white on hind fetlock, switch tail, very rough coat, without shoes, and in good condition. If stolen, £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information to Superintendent W. Lenaan, Weedon, or to Inspector Evans, County Police Station, Angel- lane, Northampton, as may lead to the apprehension and con- viction of the offender or offenders.— Bow- street, February 3. Found, supposed to have been stolen, a dark brown Mare, black legs and feet, stands about 1G hands, aged, has several white spots on the off side, and the hair chafed off the shoulder, white spot on the chine, and in rather low condition. It was left at nn iun at- Arnold, Notts, on the 20th ultimo. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent T. Palethorpe, County Police Station Nottingham..— How- street, February 1. Description THOMAS PROUT, alias BROWN, charged with stealing a brown Horse at Chadlington, Oxon, on the night of the 5til ultimo ( feinoe recovered): about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, dark complexion, dark brown hair, rather long behind and inclined to curl, dark brown bushy whiskers, walks erectly, and has the appearance of a farm labourer ; dressed in a rough brown overcoat, corduroy trousers, leather leggings, strong lace- up boots with white leather laces, and black billycock hat: lie is well known in the counties of Gloucester, Salop, and Bedford. Information to be given at the Chief Constable s Office, Oxford, or to Inspector J. Lakin, Chipping Norton, Oxon, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 1. Supposed to have been stolen on the 23rd instant, from Bitterley Hyde, Pencombe, Hereford, the property of Mr. Nicholas Mason, farmer : 16 Sheep, five ewes, in yearn, one of them has black face, marked ' M' in a circle on left side; four wether latnbs, brown faces ; five ditto ewe lambs; and two tup ditto with white faces, long tails, and all marked ' M ' on the crup. Information to be given to Superintendent Daniel Harwood, Bromyard, Herefordshire.— Bom- street, January 30. A reward of £ 2 will be given for any information that will lead to tliu apprehension of WILLIAM REED, against whom a warrant is issued, charging him with stealing a Horse and Fly from Aldershot, Hants, both recovered, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent W. Howard, Hants Constabulary, Aldershot,— Bow- street, January 30. The woman advertised in the Police Gazette of 5th Oct.. last, charged with stealing a horse at Farlow, has been appre- hended and committed for trial at the next Salop Sessions, and th « horse recovered : she gives the name of MARY BROWN, proper name MARY POULTON, native of Wootten- under- Edge ; the man is still at large, he is a native of fiagshot, and is about 28 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, light brown hair, well made, and upright figure ; has stolen horses in Salop, Oxon, and Wilts. He sold at Cleehills about 12 months ago, a black horse, aged, about 14 hands high, white streak down the face, and both hind legs white, which is supposed to have been stolen. Information to be given to Serjeant Howells, Cleobury, Mortimer, Salop.— Bow- street, January 30. Stolen on the 24th instant, in Grosvenor- street West, a Horse and Van, the horse black, off hind foot white, brass mounted harness, ' Daukes & Co., Exeter Hall, Strand,' painted on van, containing 8A dozen of bottled Beer, lour bottles of Brandy, two bottles of Rum, and some empty Bottles.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, January 27. Pound at Worth, Sussex, on the Hth^ instant, supposed to have been stolen, a dark brown mare Cob, aged, has lost the near eye, black legs, bang tail, nearly 14 hands high, and in low condition. Information to be given to Superintendent William Kennard, East Grinstead, or to Police Constable Geo. Peckham, Three Bridges, near Crawley, Sussex.— Bow- street, January 27. Supposed to have been stolen from the Hospital- meadows, in the parish of Stoke- Pogis, Bucks, during the night of the 25th instant., the property of Mr. W. Ford, of the - Crown' hotel, Slough, a brown Gelding, aged, l4ij hands high, short switch tail, very rough coat, and poor in condition ; and a grey ditto, aged, about 12 hands hi. h, handsome neck, flowing inane, i short, hang tail, broken winded, and in good condition. Infor- mation to be given to> Superintendent Charles Hodgkinson, Police Station, Slough.— Bow- street, January 27. Further information respecting the Horse stolen from Slope Hill Farm, Shalbourne, near Hungerford. £ 6 reward will he paid by Mr. John Platt, on recovery of the horse, and conviction af the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Harfield, Berks Constabulary, New- bury*— Bow- street, January 27. Stolen during the night of the 23rd instant, ait Maple- durham, Oxon, a bay Horse, rising 8 years Mil, h « s received an injury in the near hind leg which causes him to turn his foot eutwarde, aw< l has a swelling on the near fore leg above the fetloffk joint; a strong spring Cart, painted ( mm, with a bolt thnwrgi* one of the felloes of near wheel, and atiin through the shaft and stay en near side near the step ; and a set of Har- ness nearly new, with rush collwr having a hole on near side In front of harness, and the bridle has a red brow band ; the property of Mr. Payne,' Pack Horse Inn.' Intimation to be given to Superintendent Cope, Henley- on- Thames, or to Police Serjeant E. Williams, Cavershinn, Oxon.— Bow- street, Jan. 27. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Woolastone, near Lydney, on the 31st ultimo, charged with stealing two Swans, the property of Edward Andrew Noel, Esq., of Alvington, WILLIAM BALL, alias REBS, a labourer, about 33 years of age, but looks younger, 6 feet 10 or 11 inches high, light hair, complexion, and whiskers, which grow under the chin, and has a squeaking roice; dressed in a short white smock with band, cord trousers, and billycock hat. £\ reward will be paid for his apprehension. Information to he given to] Sergeant Tanner, Lydney, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, February 3. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the borough of Oldham, about fi a. ni. on the 23rd ultimo, the following property: a diaper Pinafore ; a pair of linen Drawers, with edging round the bottom, cockle- Bhell pattern, made to fit a girl about 11 eirs of age ; a scarlet and white knitted Muffler, stripes about nch broad ; a scarlet and black woollen Shirt ; an old- hioned verge Watch, white dial, No. 9482, had attached a steel Chain, and a common brass Key ; a dark mixture cloth Coat, black velvet collar, two pockets inside skirt and one in left breast, black horn buttons, and bound with black worsted braid ; a black cloth Cap ; and a pair of elastio- Bide Boots, nearly new. By a roan who lodged in the house that night, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slender make, light hair and complexion , supposed to be wearing the stolen property, as he left his own behind. The desk was after- wards found in a room at the hotel in which a man of the following description slept, and who left Ashby by the 7 a. m. train for Burton- on- Trent : 23 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slender make, brown hair and whiskers, sallow com- plexion ; dressed in a long snuff- colonred topcoat, black hat, blue worsted necktie with a ring on it, and white turn- down collar; is of rather shabby appearance. Description of a man who is charged with stealing 10s., the moneys of Mr. John Firby, of Bishop Auckland, on the 26th ultimo: about 40 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion and hair, stoutly made; dressed in a dark coat and hat. He called Mr. Firby up at 5 o'clock in the morning, pretending to make a purchase, and induced him to lay 10s on the counter for change, which he picked up and ran away with. He had the appearance of a stableman, and left the bit of a riding bridle behind him, which was stamped ' Hall and Son' on the branch at each side, which are of unusual length. By a navvy, who has been working for about three weeks on the new line of railway near Pamshaw ; about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, slightly bald om the top off his head, ginger- coloured whiskers, proportionate make, and speaks the north country dialect; dressed in brown velvet coat half worn, mole- skin trousers, short moleskin leggings, the stolen cap, and a pair of large boot clogs; he may be wearing a pair of new strong lace boots; one of the fingers on right hand has been recently crushed about the nail, and is at present wrapped up. It is supposed that he will seek for employ- ment on some railway in course of construction. The other, about 20 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender make, a wheelwright's apprentice, the middle finger of left hand has been cut off near the first joint, also has a pistol wound in the palm of right hand ; dressed in a dark jacket, dark cap with leather peak, and fustian trousers with paint on them. ' Rodney '; is 38 or 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, slight make, sallow complexion, dark hair cut very sliorand turning grey, whiskers shaved -> ff, stoops a little when walking, tattoo marks on his arms—' J. H.', a ship, with the word ' Rodney ' under it, a star, the sun, a sailor holding a glass, and a woman holding a bunch of flowers ; dressed in a black cloth coat with pockets outside, vest of the same colour, brown ck> tU> troueers, and kid boots with brass eylet- holes. By a woman about 40 years of age, fresh looking, and dressed in a black dress, dirty looking black and white mixed shawl, black bonnet, and black cap border. Stolen on the evening of the 23rd instant, from a cart on the roadside, in the parish of Warfield, Berks, a brown woollen Horse Rug, plaid pattern, striped red and yellow, each stripe about inch broad, in good condition. By two men of the following description: one about 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers; dressed in a cord jacket, black billycock hat, and blue plaid neckerchief; has the appearance of a bricklayer. The other is about 5 feet 2 inches high ; dressed in a white slop and dark cloth cap; has the appearance of a bricklayer's labourer. Both men were met shortly afterwards going towards Windsor. He \ vas sentenced to four years penal servitude at Yarm, February 4th, 1861, for larceny. Description of a lad committed for trial at the next assizes for highway robbery at Langham, in the county of Rutland, on the 27th ultimo : gives the name of THOMAS KAIN, Irish by birth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, grey eyes, brown hair, fresh complexion, and has a scar on side of left eye from a cut with a stone ; dressed in an old blue ribbed cloth coat, brown cloth waistcoat, old brown cloth trousers, lace- up boots with brass eyelet- holes, and black cloth cip with figured braid round bottom. States that his father, a labourer, lives at Dublin ; that he left there about two or three years ago, and went to live with his sister, near St. Ann's Church, Liverpool, and that he worked for a short time with a watch- maker there, and afterwards for an eating- house keeper at Whittington, near Manchester. It is supposed that he has been previously convicted of felony, or that he has committed offences elsewhere. And EMMA THOMAS, a native of Cardiff, 25 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, bluck hair, grey eyes, oval face ; represented herself to be the wife of a stonemason, and that she has resided at Liverpool. Bromly, of Acton, Suffolk, on the 17th instant, a light square- back spring Cart, painted dark brown, picked out with white, but the lines are almost worn out, very upright wheels and back, the sides and back are board up to the first rail, and iron pegs above, with iron rail on the top, the side, back, and front boards are scolloped under the rail, and the scollop in the front board on the right side is much worn where the driver usually puts his foot when driving, has patent axle, lancewood shafts, with iron plates under where the steps fasten on, plain board seat, with the back broken off, but a small portion is still on the edge where it was screwed on, has no name on, and will hold three persons. A party of gipsy horsedealers who were staying in Acton about tbe time are suspected of stealing the cart; they had with them two brush vans, a cart, and several horses and donkeys. It is likely the cart will be sold to some dealer or exchanged for a horse. A cart, supposed to be the one stolen was seen at 2 o'clock on the same morning going through Lavenham towards Cockfield, drawn by a large bay horse, and the driver was dressed in dark clothes ; it is likely that' the cart may be under repair for the purpose of destroying identity Information to be given to Superintendent Schofield, Police Station, Boxford, or to Inspector D.
