Absconded from Puriton, in the county of Somerset, on tho 16th instant, charged with night poaching, and wounding Thomas Lyne, a gamekeeper, RICHARD PAIN, 28 years of age, 5 feet 0 inches high, dark swarthy complexion, and dark hair; dressed in Hack iimcrow hat, velvet jacket, and fustian trousers; and JOHN SELLICK, 23 years of agfe, 5 feet 6 inches high, and brown hair ; dressed in a guernsey smock, fuBtian trousers, and jimcrow hat. They are supposed to have gone to Cardiff. Information to be given to Mr. C. Jeffs, Superintendent, North Petherton, Somerset, who holds a war- rant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, November 21. Description of a man who is charged with the murder of John Davis, late of No. 6, Britannia- terrace, Hatcham, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued : RICHARD HAVELAN, an excavator, 55 years of age, 0 feet high, dark complexion, sandy hair, thin, high cheek bones, no whiskers ; dressed in rough blue pilot coat, white slop underneath, dark cord trousers, and black billycock hat: has served in the Scots Fusilier Guards, and has friends residing in the neighbourhood of Three Bridges, Sussex.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, November ] 8. Absconded from Ayr on the 11th instant, charged with night poaching, and with shooting at and wounding Francis Masterman, a gamekeeper, and others, his assistants, viz. : ROBERT PARK, 32 years of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, fair hair, thin sandy whiskers, fair complexion, ordinary figure, has lost little finger of right hand, lias marks of scrofula on side of neck, and speaks the Scotch dialect; dressed in dark fustian or ordinary trousers, dark waistcoat, dark tartan coat, and cloth cap with peak ; JOHN FREW, alias STITCHER 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, dark complexion, stout figure, speaks with a Scotch dialect; and dressed in dark trousers and waistcoat, velveteen coat or blue monkey jacket, and cloth cap; and JOHN JONES, alias ENGLISH JACK, 30 years of age, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark hair, small or no whiskers, dark com- complexion, stout figure, coarse features, and bow- legged ; dressed in dark fustian or corduroy trousers, blue monkey jacket, and dark cloth cap. Some of these are supposed to be marked on the head or face by blows from a stick : the latter two are colliers, and have worked in the north of England. A warrant has been granted for their apprehension. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Ayrshire, Ayr.— Bow- street, November 16. Description of GARFOOT SISMY, formerly a shepherd, now a railway labourer, who has been working for the London and North- Western Railway Company between Peterborough and Northampton, and who has absconded since the 5th instant, charged with a violent assault on P. C. John Garner, of Castor, near Peterborough, when endeavouring to arrest him on a charge of felony, and for whose nrrest and conviction of the assault £\ reward will be paid. He is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, thick lips, round face, brown hair, very slight sandy whiskers, grey eyes, stout figure ; dressed in light fustian coat made like a shooting jacket, cord trousers, and cap. He sometimes calls himself GEORGE SISMY. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable's Office, Peterborough, where lies the warrant for his arrest. Bow- street, November 14. high ; one of them dressed in black shiny glazed coat, black cloth trousers and cap; the other had on a long dark cloth coat, and light coloured trousers. The little man had on a short drab slop which fastens with a band round the waist, fustian or cord trousers, and cap. Information to be given to Mr. Chief Superintendent Campbell, Town Hall, Grimsby, or any of the Police Stations in the county of Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, November 21. On the night of the 8th instant, about 11 o'clock, Frederick East, of Nether Broughton, Leicestershire, was returning from Stamford Fair, and on the highway near Holwell Mouth, he was stopped by two men of the following description, who robbed him of £ 6 in Gold and 10s. or 12s. in Silver: JOHN SMITH, gipsy, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark brown hair, and small black whiskers ; dressed in a white slop, light cord trousers, and old black cap. And CLARKE SMITH, gipsy, about 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, with dirty long black hair, and very small whiskers ; dressed in a velveteen coat, and dark cord trousers. They have with them two brown horses and a heavy cart without a tilt, and are in the habit of sleeping under a tent. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent John Platts, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, November 21. Stolen on the 15th instant, from a gentleman in Goswell- street, St. Luke's, a gold f- plate lever hunting Watch, makers Wymack and Son, Percival- street, Clerkenwell, London, and a gold Albert Chain ( 18 carat), attached.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 18. Stolen about 10 p. m. on the 16th instant, from the person of a gentleman in Manchester, a gold duplex lever Watch, maker Joseph Penlington, Liverpool, No. 10386, winds up at the handle, and has double cases. Any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch, shall receive £ 10 reward, on application to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Town Hall, King- street, Manchester.— Bow- st., November 18. Stolen from the person of a farm servant at the Brampton Hiring, on the afternoon of the 16th instant, a purple leather Purse with brass clasp, containing four Sovereigns and two Half- crowns. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent J. Thomas Fowler, Brampton, or at the County Chief Con- stable's Office, Carlisle.— Bow- street, November 18. Stolen on the 13th instant from the person of a lady, in the borough of Stockport, a small silver Geneva Watch, makers Thomas Russell and Son, Geneva, No. 8717. Information to be given to Mr. Isaac Moores, Chief Superintendent, Borough of Stockport, Cheshire.— Bow- st, reel, November 10. Stolen on the morning of the 12th instant from the person of a gentleman, in Charlotte- street, Great Yarmouth, a silver Geneva Watch, maker Muret, No. 42371 or 42369. By a young man, who is short and stoutly made, and dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Mr. George Tewsley, Chief Superintendent, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.— Bow- street, November 16. Stolen from the person of John Nixon, between 9 and 10 p. m. on the 12th instant, a silver verge Watch, No. 1517. Information to be given to Mr. John Hewett, Head Constable, borough of Tynemouth, Northumberland.— Bow- street, Novem- ber 1C. ROBBERY AND LARCENY PROM THE PERSON. Three men of the following description are charged with stopping a young man named Charles Surfleet, whilst in charge of a horse and cart, between Scartho and the Nun's Farm, Grimsby, at 8' 45 on the night of the 18th instant, they assaulted and dragged him out of the cart and robbed him of a Purse containing X'l 9s. lid., and stripped liim of a blue Guernsey, a red and black Comforter, and black cloth Cap with peak : two of the men were from 6 feet 8 to 9 inches BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 1 and 3 a. m. on the 17th instant, the lock- up shop of William Marchant, watch maker, Beast Market, in the borough of Huddersfield, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : 5 plated Earrings. 2 ditto with small stone in centre. 1 coloured ditto, with small stone. 12 scarf Pins, with aquamarine stones and garnets. 3 hair Alberts with small keys at one end. 6 scroll Brooches. 26 Brooches with stones. 3 large reversible Brooches. 1 silver Chain, small pattern. 1 gold ditto, kerb pattern. 12 black Alberts. 24 nickel silver Chains. 12 silk Guards. 1 boy's Inverness Cape. Information to be given to Mr. Chief Superintendent Hannan, Borough Police Station, Huddersfield.— Bow- street, Nov 18. The whole of the silver Plate advertised in the Police Gazette of the 31st ultimo, as stolen from Mr. Benjamin Harrison's, Stubbing Farm, Otley, has been recovered at Mid- dlesbro- on- Tees, and a German tramp giving the name of FREDERICK AUGUST ERNEST MATTIES, is com- mitted for trial at the assizes at Leeds for stealing the same: he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh com- plexion, blue eyes, and hair turning grey; dressed in dark cloth clothes and cap, and Wellington boots; states that he has worked in London eight years, that he is a leather staker, and that he has recently been in the hospital at Hull. It is sup- posed that he has been previously convicted or has committed offences elsewhere. Information to be given to Mr. Superin- tendent Smith, West Riding Constabulary, Otley, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, November 18. A man of the following description is charged with break- ing and entering the residence of Mrs. Harris, No. 1, Kingsgate- villas, Reading, about 1 p. m. on the 16th instant, and stealing three lady's Dresses, a silver Watch, and a twisted gold- plated Brooch. Upon his being discovered by the female servant, he violently assaulted her and then made his escape, leaving the property ( except the brooch) on the premises. He is between 20 and 30 years of age, tall, rather stout, with dark whiskers ; dressed in a long shabby black coat, light coloured trousers, brown cloth cap with peak, and no shoes. He is supposed to have lodged at Maidenhead the same night, and to have gone in the direction of London on the following morning. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. John Peck, Chief Superintendent of Police, Reading.— Bow- street, November 18. Stolen from the house of the Rev. T. H. Browne, of High Wycombe, between the hours of 6' 30 and 8 p. m. on the 13th instant, 2 silver Table Spoons, marked in cypher ' D. S.- S.'; 2 Table Spoons ' S. S.' o. r ' D. S. S.*; 4 Dessert Spoons, three ' D. S. S.,' one ' S. E. S.'; 4 Tea Spoons, ' S. S.'; all it is believed with the hall mark ' T.' •, 2 antique Salt Cellars and Spoons, the cellars round shaped and standing on three feet, and the spoons with pans shaped like a shovel; 5 electro- plated Forks, and a pair of German silver Sugar Tongs. Two. men are suspected, one of whom is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, and had on a deer- stalking hat. Whoever will give such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders shall receive £ 5 reward. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent G. Davis, Wycombe.— Bow- street, November 18; Between 12 p. m. on the 12th and 9 a. m. on the 14th instant, the lock- up shop of Mr. Watkinson, hosier and glover, in the borough of Huddersfield, was entered, by means of skeleton keys, and the following property stolen therefrom : two Cigar Cases with needlework, ivory mounted ; two ditto, with leathers in two colours, needlework inside ; a bright blue ditfcv' '> und ended; a ditto, flat ended ; £ 1 S « . in Coppers, 5s. or 6s. in Threepenny and Fourpenn^- pieces, and about £ 1 5s. woith of Penny Postage Stamps, information to be given to Mr. Chief Superintendent W. Hannan, Borough Police Station, Huddersfield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, Nov. 16. On the night of the 13th or early on the morning of the 14th instant, the office of Mr. Goodwin Archer, solicitor, Ely Trinity, was broken into, and 10s. worth of Postage Stamps stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent William E. Lantesbury, Ely, or to Captain poster, Chief Constable of the Isle of Ely Constabulary, March, Cambs.— Bow- street, November 16. Stolen from a dwelling house at Manmoel, in the parish of Bedwelty, on the night of the 9th instant, by means of burglary, the following articles:— two Blankets, one stitched with blue v orsted, and the other bound with white tape ; a brown alpaca Skirt, with two flounces; a brown linsey Jacket, with two rows of black velvet round the waist and wrists ; a yellow silk Handkerchief, with a white and green border; an old pilot cloth Monkey Jacket, lined with black and red plaid flannel, with a small patch of plaid flannel on the'right side, a tear down the front of the left side near the buttons, and has several marks of red and brown paint on it; a pair of Cossack Boots, nearly new, tips on the heels, small nails in the soles, and supposed to have four lace- holes in the sides ; and a Prun- ing Knife, with a small piece of gutta- percha in the handle near the rivet. A man of the following description was seen coming from the house, with a bundle under his arm, about 6 the following morning, and is supposed to be a tramp : about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, rather stoutly built, large dark whiskers round his face ; and dressed in a dark monkey jacket, glazed cap with peak, and ( supposed) stolen boots, as he left behind him a pair of boots very much worn, with the soles cut off near the bend of the foot, and the inner sole worn through. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Usk ; or to Mr. Superintendent H. Fowler, Tredegar, Monmouthshire.— Bow- street, November 16. On the night of the 13th instant or early the following morning, a tramp broke out of the Union Workhouse at Stone, Staffordshire, stealing therefrom two pairs of woollen oord Trousers ; a pair of cotton ditto ; a white Slop; a check Shirt; a loose Jacket; a red Handkerchief; a brown billycock Hat; two white cotton Shirts ; a cord Waistcoat; a brown velvet Jacket; a blue check Shirt; three Neckerchiefs; a pair of cotton Stockings; a tight cotton Waistcoat; and a grey woollen Shawl. He is supposed to be a native of Oxford, about 23 years of. age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, stout made, brown hair, sores about the neck and legs. Information to be given to Mr. Chief Superintendent Bergan, Police Station, Stone, or at any Police Station in Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 16. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found on the 17th instant, straying, in the parish of Ash, near Dartford, Kent, a red and white Cow, short horned breed, about 4 years old, and in low condition. Information to be fiven to Mr. Superintendent Brandon, Kent Constabulary, ) artford, or to Sergeant J. Fowle, Eynsford, Kent.— Bow- street, November 21. Supposed to '. have been stolen on the night of the 13th instant, from Lark Hill Farm, Yeovil, a fawn- coloured cob Horse, about 14 hands high, mealy nose, short switch tail, free from blemish, not trimmed, and about 10 years old. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Smith, Yeovil. - Bow- street, November 21. P O L I C E GAZETTE. November' 21. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 10th instant, from a field at Askern, near Doncaster, Yorkshire, the property of Godfrey Broughton, of Askern, farmer, a ewe Sheep, of the long wool breed, and marked with blue across the loins. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hall, West Riding Constabulary, Pontefract, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, November 21. Found on Wainstone Court Farm, Wingham, Kent, on the 19tU ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen, a light red- coloured Ileiler, in calf, 2 years old, and two Heifers of the same colour 1 year old, one of which has a few white spots. Information to be liven to Mr. Superintendent William Stokes, Kent Constabulary, Sandwich.— Bow- street, November 18. Stolen from near Llanfair, Montgomeryshire, on the night of the 16th instant, a black cart Mare, of light make, 0 years old, IS hands high, white hind fetlocks, a few white hairs on forehead, full mane, long tail, and in fair condition ; also a light bay cart Mare, aged, IS hands high, white hind feet ( more white on one than the other), tender on her fore feet which are shod with very long shoes. Information to be given to the County Chief Constable. Welshpool.— Bow- street, November 18. Found at Harrington, near Pontefract, supposed to have been stolen, on the 20th September last, a dark roan Bullock, about 18 months old, and in middling condition. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hall, West Riding Con- stabulary, Pontefract, Yorkshire, or to P. C. ( 136) Chas. Welton, West Riding Constabulary, Darrington.— Bow- street, Nov 18. Supposed to have been stolen from a field on the roadside between Market Harhorough and Lubbenham, in the county of Leicester, a dark brown Mare ( in foal), rising 6 years old, nearly 16 ha » ds high, small white spot on forehead, much of the mane rubbed off, and what remains is very short, some hair rubbed off the tup of tail, the near hind foot has been cut by a rope, and has just healed : the mare has been used in a light cart, and is the property of Mr. John Barlow, builder, Market Harborough. Information to he given to Mr. Superintendent Iliffe, Constabulary Station, Market Harborough, Leicester- shire.— Bow- street, November 18. Found ajb. Bletchingley, Surrey, on the 3rd instant, a small rough filuck gelding Shetland Pony, supposed to have been stolen. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent A. H. Bungard, Surrey Constabulary, Godstone.— Bow- street, Nov. 18. Stolen from the stable of John Davies, of Manafon, during the night of the 1 tah instant, a light made black cart Mare, hUt mane, tons tail, white hind fetlocks, a few white hairs on forehead, 0 years old, 15 hands high, and in fair condition. Informal on to lie given at, the Chief Constable's Office, Welsh- pool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- srect, November 18. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 12th instant, tiom Oreton Common, in the parish of Stottesden, in the c. iinty of Salop, the property of William Hughes, a black half hied Mare, 13 hands high, blind of the right eye, hind feet white, in low condition, and has a colt which was left behind. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent McWilliam, County Constabulary, Bridgnorth, or to P. C. Edward Bromwell, Stottesden, Salop.— Bow- street, Nov. 18. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 6th instant, tiom a field at Parkfield, near Bilston, the property of Mr. William Jones, a dark brown cart Mare, 7 or li years old, between 15 and 16 nands high, star on forehead, a little white on one hind leg, hair off back by saddle, one shoulder has been scalded. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hugh M'Crea, bilston, Staffordshire.— Bore- street, November 16. Found, on the 16th inst., at Alveley, Salop, and supposed to have been stolen, a light brown Mare, aged, about 14 hands high, long tail, black legs, white blaze down the face, saddle mark on back, shod all round, and in good condition. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent McWilliam, County Constabulary Office, Bridgnorth.— Bow- street, November 16. Supposed to have been stolen from Yousea Farm, Hoth field, Kent, on the 3rd instant, 10 Sheep ( ewes and ewe tags), the ewes are marked ' 2 S ' on the near side, with tiver on the back ; the ewe tags are marked ' 2 S' on the off side, with tiver across the loin ; marked under farthing of near ear. The property of Mr. Strouts. Information to be given to Mr. Sup « iintendent D. Pewar, County Constabulary, Ashford, Kent.— Bvw- street, November 10. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen on the 17th instant, from No. 1, St. Ann's- lane, Westminster: a dark blue Overcoat, a brown cloth Vest, a black Hat, and £ 1 16s. By n man, 30 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, daik complexion, hair, and whiskers; dressed in black coat, dark brown tweed vest, and black cloth cap with peak.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, November 21. *"-< Stolen between 11 p. m. on the 17th and 7 a. m. on the 18th instant, from No. 34, Hunter- street, Brunswick square,.. plated open- face Geneva Watch, Chain and Locket attached ; a gold King, with carbuncle ; a gold Keeper ; a small gold Ring, set with fifteen turquoises; and £ 7 10s. in Gold. By a youth, 16 years of age, 5 teat high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair and eyes; dressed in black jacket, grey tweed trousers, and blue cloth cap.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, Nocembcr 21. WILLIAM MAGNESS, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 16ih iuslant, charged with stealing a quantity of lead Piping from Hay Union, has been apprehended and committed for trial at the next quarter sessions lor the county of Breck- nock.— Bow- street, November 21. Stolen on the 16th instant, from No. 56, Southampton- street, Pentonville, a black silk Dress, a black mohair ditto, a Paramatta ditto, n light cotton ditto, a check Skirt, a barege Jacket, a black satinette Petticoat, a Paisley Shawl, a black ditto, two Blankets, a Sheet, and a Chemise. By a female, 25 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes ; dressed in black silk dress, black cloak, and black straw hat.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, November 21. Stolen on the night of the 12th instant, from a vessel at Barton, three Blankets and a Rug, the property of William He wet t ( which have since been recovered), supposed by a man of the following description : about 24 years of age 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, sallow complexion, long features, brown hair, little or no whiskers, stands very erect, and of slight figure ; dressed in a blue Guernsey with light braces outside, dark trousers, and cloth cap ; stated that he had lately been em- ployed with a boat, which he left at Goole. Information to be given to Inspector Wm. Thorsby, County Police Station, Barton- on- humber, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, November 21. Stolen from the house of John Tainton, blacksmith, of Severn Stoke, on the morning of the 16th instant, 8 yards of shirting Cloth, a pair of women's Hose, and a Vest, by a tramping blacksmith : he is about 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inche# » higk, dark complexion, black bushy whiskers ; dressed in dark coat, corduroy trousers, low boots, billycock hat, and cap ; supposed to belong to the neighbourhood of Stourbridge. Information to lie given to Mr. Superintendent G. Checkett, Upton- on- Severn, Worcestershire.— Bow- itreet, November 21. ' Description of EDWARD or EDWIN BRITTLE, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 7th December last, who is still at large, charged with stealing a black cloth Vest and other articles ( since recovered), at Newport, Salop : he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 or !) inches high, brown hair, thin sandy beard and moustache, thin face, slightly marked with smallpox, walks stifly with one leg, and has several teeth broken off; he lived as ostler at the ' Old Bell' inn, Newport, Salop, in August, 1862, and at the ' Black and White Lion ' inn, Wolverhampton. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. J. Richardson, Deputy Chief Constable, Wellington, or to P. C. ( 26) Purchall, Newport, Salop. — Sow- Mreet, November 21. He got the bill receipted, and said, if they would send the parcel to No. 21, Wildman- street, he would send the money back. A lad accordingly accompanied him to the house in Wildman- street, where the man took the parcel from the boy, and passed through the house and out of back door, and made his escape. Description of a young man who obtained £ 2 by false pretences at Chorley : he stated that his name was JONES, that he was a surveyor, and was employed in Chorley upon the roads in course of alteration, 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or Cinches high, light complexion light brown curly hair, grey eyes, and lias gooa teeth ; dressed in a black felt hat, dark brown cloth coat, light trousers and vest which buttons up to the neck, supposed witney cloth, leather shoes buttoned up the side, and glttzed leather leggings, has a large watch attached to a heavy Albert chain, both'apparently gold, is of good address, and gentlemanly appearance. Description of two men who, on the 17th instant, called Mr. Francis Whitley, of Green Hill House, near Bingley, Yorkshire, and obtained 10s., by stating that they were collecting money for a widow with nine children, at Steeton, who lost eight cows out of nine by the distemper, and that her landlord would allow her a quarters rent it she could raise money to restock her farm : one about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 incites high, stoutly made, good- looking, brown hair and whiskers meeting under the chin ; dressed in dark clothes, black hat, and shooting jacket, and said he was a gravestone cutter: the other about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, rather thin make, fresh looking, brown hair and whiskers; Jressed as a farmer, in blue frock coat, light brown trousers, nd hat. Description of a man and woman in custody at Brampton, Cumberland, on a charge of robbery with violence. They stated that they were man and wife, and gave their names WILLIAM and ISABELLA TELFORD, supposed to be false, and are supposed to have been previously convicted. The man is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow com- plexion, has a very slight scar on the forehead ovdr the eye, no whiskers, short dark hair, a little dark hair under the chin, grey eyes, and slender figure ; dressed in good dark clothes, dark Scotch cap, boots with elastic sides, and dark Inverness cape. He left, at a private house in the town, a new slate- coloured tight- fitting cloth great coat, with black velvet collar and facings, and black roundabout hat. The woman is 27 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, dark complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, high cheek bones, square face, and rather stout figure ; Bhe wore a dark stuff dress, dark grey thick woollen shawl, black straw slouch hat with black fall, and carried a sable muff and victorine. She had also left, at a pri- vate house, a black velvet bonnet with black lace fall, and a large slate- coloured cloth mantle, trimmed on the shoulders with black braid and small black beads. SUSANNAH JOHNSON, alias BOCKING, of London, formerley of Sudbury, 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, dark hazel eyes; dressed in a dirty plaid cotton gown, black mohair mantle with two tassels, a mixed straw bonnet with light pink deserted from the 43rd Regiment at Chatham in July, 1800, then known as Joseph Miller, of Plymouth. A man of the following description has been committed for trial at Shrewsbury Quarter Sessions on two charges, one for breaking into the shop of Mr. William Jones, grocer, St. Martin's Moors, on the night of the 10th instant, and stealing a quantity of Grocery and Money, and the other for breaking into the stable of Mr. William Edgbury, of Ebnal, the same night, and stealing a Jacket: he gives his name to the next adjourned sessions to be Jield at Nether Knutsford Cheshire, on the 29ih instant, charged with stealing from a dwelling- house: 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes, has lost first finger of the left hand at the second joint, fourth toe of right toot con- tracted, and walks rather lame ; he has been a soldier and is of very drunken habits; it is supposed that he has committed other offences, and that he has been previously convicted. Description of a man who is remanded till the 15th inst., charged with pocket picking at the Railway Station, Rugby, on the night of the 11th instant: he gave the name of JAMES MARTIN, 25 years of age, 5 feet 3£ inches high, dark hair and moustache, scar on left cheekbone about the size of a shilling, and a smaller one under left ear, lisps slightly, and states that he came from Birmingham, but refuses to give his address ; dressed in a dark melton overcoat and vest, dark cloth mixture trousers, dark grey checked scarf, and black hat: when apprehended he threw away a £ 5 Bank of Ireland Note. It is supposed that he has committed offences elsewhere, and that he has been previously convicted. Description of two tramps who were, on the 14th instant, committed to Montgomery Gaol for vagrancy : one says his name is CHARLES WILSON, a native of Netherton, Stafford- shire, but has resided ten years in London, is 27 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, brown hair, blue eyes weak and inflamed, and dark complexion; dressed iu a black cloth cap with leather peak, new check shirt, blue and brown striped cloth waistcoat, canvas slop, blue pilot monkey jacket, with large dark horn buttons, lined with mottled grey tweed, moleskin trousers, and lace- up water- tight boots, lately soled and nailed strongly, but not by a tradesman; he had in his possession some new pieces of sole Leather, some square- headed shoe Nails, some Sprigs, an Awl, two tin Boxes, and an unbleached calico Bolster Case. The other says his name is WILLIAM EDWARDS, a labourer, a native of Stockport, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6i inches high, light hair, grey eyes, thin narrow pale face, and strong eye- brows; he wore under his trousers a pair of tan leather leggings. Description of a tramp committed to Aylesbury Gaol, on the 10th instant, for twenty one days' hard labour for vagrancy. He gave the name of ROBERT ALLEN ( supposed to be fictitious), and also the names of BAILEY and DAVIS, 43 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, long features, dark hair and whiskers meeting under chin, light blue eyes rather weak, and wears spectacles; dressed in long loose black cloth coat much faded, black cloth waistcoat, black necktie, brown and white check trousers with dark stripe down the sides, old brown gaiters underneath, lace- up boots with brass eyelet- holes, and black hat: he stated that he had been a local preacher, a grocer, and a printer. A stout Irishwoman, with a very red face, - was travelling with him. In his possession were found three pawntickets : one, for a gown, pledged by S. Bailey, at Thomas & c W. Ayres', 89, 91, and 93, King- street East, Broadway, Hammersmith, on the 26th March, 1864, for 3s. ; another, for a pair of Boots, by Maria Bailey, at Robert Cole's, 21, Bridge- street, Cambridge, on the 13th May, 1864, for 2s.; and the other, a pair of Boots, by Maria Bailey, at Jeffreys and Greaves, 787, Old Kent- road, on the 2lst June, 1864, for 2s., the whole of which are supposed to have been stolen. THOMAS HAYES, 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, small whiskers, sallow complexion ; dressed in brown cloth cap with peak, brown mixture cloth coat and vest, corduroy trousers, and half- boots, all very shabby. They are supposed to have committed offences elsewhere, and to have been previously convicted. Description of WILLIAM HILL, a convict at large under licence No. 6894. He was discharged from Dartmoor on the 29th August last, reported himself at Taunton on the 30th of August and 5th September, since then he has been leading an idle and dissolute life, and lately has associated with thieves and prostitutes ; he left that neighbourhood without notice, and has not since reported himself. He is 25 years of age, 5 feet ( ij inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, grey- eyes, stoutly made, full face, right leg amputated and wears a wooden leg. He was committed on the 14th January, 1862, at Brockley, and tried at Northampton 1st March, 1862, for housebreaking, after former conviction, and sentenced to three years' penal servitude. He professes to be an excavator, and said he usually worked in ballast holes.
