The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, inith every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference io the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MR. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired tbat any person should oe appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all JLetters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, 3. W,," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the evening of the 4th instant, the dead body of a male Child, apparently about one month old, was found iu the river Conway, in the parish of Eglwys- Fach, in the county of Denbigh ; an inquest has been held upon the body, and a verdict of Wilful Murder returned against some person or persons unknown. The body, when found, was wrapped in a black and white striped flannel petticoat, and a lilac and white cotton skirt, which are now in the possession of the police. Infoimatiou to be given to J. Stolen from the person at Hay, Breconshire, on the morning of the 14th instant, art open- faced silver lever Watch, with seconds hand, No. 6450. Infoi mation to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Evans, Breconshire Constabulary, Crickhowell, or to Sergeant John Joseph, Breconshire Constabulary, Hay.— Bow- street, June 20. Supposed to have been stolen from the person, near Wellington, Salop, a gold Watch, maker S. Allport, Birming- ham, gold balance, J- pi ate, cream dial, cases dented, aud out of order at joints, with gold Chain and Seal attached. £ 2 2s. reward, is offered for the apprehension and convictiou of the offender or offenders ( if stolen), and recovery of the watch. Stolen from the person while viewing the siege operations at St. Mary's, Gillingham, on the lltli instant, a silver Geneva Watch, No. 526. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent T. Everist, Chatham.— Bow- street, June 17. Stolen from the person, in the borough of Shrewsbury, on the evening of the 4th instant, a silver lever Watch, maker Coutmore, London, No. 6028. Information to be given to Mr. John Hughes, Chief Constable, Shrewbury.— Bow- st., June 10. to be given to Thomas Roberts, Police Station, Aberdovey.— Bow- street, June 20. Between the hours of 9 p. m. the 14th, and 6 a. m. the 15th instant, the lock- up shop of Henry Fell, shoemaker, Giggles- wick, was broken and entered and the following property stolen therefrom : a pair of short Wellington Boots, men's si^ e, wide soles and pegged, lined with red round the top, No. 8 size ; two pairs of light lace- up men's Boots, plain calf leather, eyelet- holes, Nos. 7 & 8 sizes ; a pair of boy's Shoes, two rows of nails round the soles, and a few extra nails at the toes, three rows up the middle, No. 4 size ; a pair of men's blucher Boots with heel plates, and lace with three holes, No. 9 size ; two pairs of men's lace- up Shoes, 5 or 6 eyelet- holes up each side, one pair had a row of nails round the soles, without lace holes, No. 6 size ; the other pair 1} row of nails round the soles, stamped with a heart on the sole, No. 9 size ; a pair of water tight Boots with heel plates, two rows of nails round the soles, two or three rows of nails up the middle, 9 or 10 eyelet- holes up each side, No. 9 size. The dwelling- house of Mr. Symonds, Lambourne, was broken and entered during the night of the 7th instant, and the following property stolen therefrom: two double- barrelled Guns; a breech- loading ditto, by Biker, stock unpolished, two plugs driven in stock to fill up a flaw ; a muzzle- loading ditto, by Heen & Son, barrel and stock by Bond, the keep of cock blown away . n the right hand barrel ; about 5s. in old copper Coins, most of thi- m discoloured with verdigris ; two small round felt Hats, maker Preedy & Briggs, Gracechurch- street, London. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Epping, Essex.— Bow- street, June 17. Between the hours of 1 p. m. on the 5th, and 10 a. m. on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of George Lawrence, of Orleton, Herefordshire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a single- barrelled Gun, with dark stain on one side of stock ; a silver Pen Holder, a piece of Bread and Bacon, and a red Handkerchief. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dykes, Leominster, or to P. S. Baynham, Orleton, near Ludlow, Salop.— Bow- street, June 15. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Further information respecting the property stolen from the pawnshop of Mr. Wm. Hirst, 5, Penny- street, Blackburn, advertised iu the Police Gazette of the 14th March last: all the Watches have been recovered except one— they having been pledged in Manches'er, by two men named JOHN TAYLOR, alias SLATER, and SAMUEL YATES, wtio are now in custody awaiting their trial. The Watch not recovered was pledged at the shop of Frederick Luck man, Oldham- road, Manchester, on the 9th March, by a woman named MARY CRESWELL, and redeemed about Ist April, and it is supposed re- pledged in Manchester; it is a patent lever silver Watch, white dial, maker Bell, Liverpool, No. 1860. The Trousers are also supposed to be pledged in Manchester. Information to be given to Mr. Joseph Potts, Chief Constable, Town Hall, Blackburn.— Bow- street, June 20. During the night of the 16th instant, a tailor shop was broken and entered, at Pennal, Merioneth, and the following property stolen : 1 pair of woollen cord Trousers, lined with lambskin ; yard of drab Fustian ; yard of Drabbet ; yard of brown Calico ; J yard of dark brown Clo'h ; 6f yards of small plaid Cloth, with Trimmings for coat; 3 Waist- coats ; and 1 Trousers Leg, basted up ready for sewing ; by two tramps of the following description : one about 27 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, no whiskers; dressed in a brown cloth Sac, linen trousers, and Scotch cap ; the other about 24 years of age, and about 5 feet 6 inches high; dressed in dark coat, old fustian trousers, and Scotch cap. It is supposed that they have gone towards the South, Iufurmation HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen, on the 12th instant, an iron- grey horse Pony, 5 years old, about 14 hands high, short bang tail, and is branded oil the near side under the saddle with the letters ' J. D.,' the property of Mr. W. Langdon, West Down, Devon. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Cunningham, Devon Constabulary, Barnstaple.— Bow- street, June 20. Stolen from the neighbourhood of Newcastle- Emlyn, a horse Mule, 7 years old, dark brown, about 12 hands high, long tail, and in good condition, the property of Thomas Morris, of Aberystwyth, marine store dealer. A reward of 10s. will be given by tile owner for its recovery, and conviction of the ffender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. H. J. Lloyd, Superintendent, Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire.— Bow- st., June 20. Supposed to have been stolen from a field near Nantyglo Iron works, on or about the 81st ultimo, a light bay Cart Mare, 5 years old, about 14 hands high, black mane and tail, has a small hard lump behind the near and off fore legs, caused by the rubbing of the bellyband, the property of Mr. John James, Blaina Iron- works, who will pay £ 1 reward upon its recovery, and conviction of the offender or offenders, it stolen. Informa- tion to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Usk, or to Mr. Superintendent H. Fowler, Tredegar Iron Works, Monmouth- shire.— Bow- street, June 20. Supposed to have been stolen on the 4th instant, a grey Mare, aged, 14£ hands high, long tail, bare spot on rump, aud the letter ' O ' in paint on the off hip. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable of Surrey, Guildford.— Bow- street, June 20. Tile light brown cart Mare, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 15th instant, as found at Marshfield, and sup- posed to have been stolen, has been owned.— Bow- st., June 20. Description of a man charged with stealing five Sheep ( which have been recovered), the property of Mr. Whitehouse, of Money- lane, in the parish of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, on the 16th instant: 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 6 inches high, laige light brown whiskers on chin ; dressed in a drab jacket, woollen cord trousers, blue necktie, and new round brown billycock hat. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent John Bevan, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, June 20. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Moselv Hole, near Wolverhampton, on the 4th or 5th instant, a I ay Filly of the cart breed, 3 years old, 14 hands 2 inches high, hind feet white, white I laze down the face, full mane and tail, and has not been shod, the property of Mr. John Evans. A handsome reward and all reasonable expenses will he paid on the recovery of the mare, and conviction of the offender or offenders. In- formetion to he given to Inspector E. Thompson, Police Office, Willenhall; or to P. C. Saunders Police Station, Moseley Hole, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 20. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 8th inst., from the parish of Wiggenhall, St. Germans, a young light- coloured gelding Donkey, long coated, and very wide across the neck. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Seaman, Terrington, near Lynn, Norfolk.— Bow- street, June 20. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 9th inst., from a field at Oldbury, a dark brown Mare, rising 3 years old, light star on forehead, right knee swollen, long mane and tail; the property of Henry Holloway. Information to be given to the Superintendent, Halesowen, or to Sergeant Simmond, Police Station, Oldbury, near Birmingham. — Bow- street, June 20. Supposed to have been stolen about the 3rd instant, from the parish of Field Dalling, a bay mare Pony, about 10 years old, 13 bands high, white shine on face, three white spots on near side, white hind feet, and clipped tail. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Blomfield, Walsingham, Norfolk. — Bow- street, June 17. Found on the 30th ultimo, at Sutton, near Askern, York- shire, and is now in the possession of Mr. Grant, farmer, of Sutton, a dark roan Heifer, about 18 months old, and has a rowel in the breast. Information to be given to Mr. Superin- tendent Hall, West Riding Constabulary, Poutefract, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, June 15. Supposed to have been stolen on the 9th instant, from a field near Bromford Iron Works, West Bromwich, a dark brown mare Pony, about 12£ hands high, short tail, wart on the root of off ear, 5 years old and half bred, the property of Mr. John Hirons, of Oldbury. Information to be given to Sergeant Simmons, Oldbury, Staffordshire, or to Mr. John Hirons, of the same place.— Bow- street, June. 15. A man is in custody at Rusliall, on suspision of stealing a black Welch mare Pony, about 12 hands high, in good con- dition, and switch tail: he gives the name of JOHN PARRY, of Churk, North Wales ; he wai offering ihe pony for sale OD. the morning of the 11th instant. Information to be given to Mr. Inspector Price, or to any of the Constabulary, Police Court, Rushall, Walsall, Staff ••' . hire.— Bow- street, June 15. Supposed to have been stolen on about the 9th ultimo, from Street Raleigh Farm, in the parish of Whimple, Devon, a light bay horse Pony, 10 years old, about 13 hands high, black mane and tail, small knob on off shoulder about the size of a marble, both knees have been broken but not recently. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dore, Honiton, Devon.— Bow- street, June 15. Stolen during the night of the 9th instant from the parish of Denford, the property of Mr. Thomas Freeman, of Ring- stead, a black nag Horse, 5 years old, about 15 hands high, switch tail reaches nearly to the hocks, full mane, a few hairs off one knee, and in good working condition. £ 10 reward will be paid by Mr. Freeman to any person giving such informa- tion as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender and offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent John F. Noble, Oundle, Northamptonshire.— Bow- street, June 15. Supposed to have been stolen, from a field near Gunnislake, Cornwall, on the night of the 29th ultimo, a daik bay nag Pony, 12 hands high, 4 years old, with a white mark on the near shoulder, the property of Mr. James Sanders. Informa- tion to be given to Sergeant Rosevear, Gunnislake, Cornwall. Bow- street, June 13. Supposed to have been stolen between the 6th and 10th instant, from a field in the township of Thornthorpe, a Lamb the property of T. Preston, Esq. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bradford Harper, East Riding Constabulary Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 13. Supposed to have been stolen between 9 p. m. the 4th, and 6 a. m. the 5th instant, from the highway within the township of Austwick, a bay mare Pony, about 13 hands high, 12 years old, has cut marks on one or both ears, the hair on its mane and tail is rubbed and shaggy, in good condition, and about casting it- coat; was bought from a man who li^ es at Kellet, near Lancaster. If strayed, any person restoring the same, will be handsomely rewarded. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent W. H. Cockshott, West Riding Constabulary Office, Settle, or any of the Police Stations iu the Riding. Bow- street, June 13. Supposed to have been stolen from the parish of Kerry, on the 10th ultimo, a brown mare Pony, aged, about 131 hands high, the near fore foot and the off bind foot white, and long tail ; was last seen at Clun Forest, on the road leading to Knighton. If stolen, £ 1 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the pony ; if st rayed, all reasonable expences allowed. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dauily, Newtown, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, June 13. Supposed to have been stolen from Horsell Common, on the 5th instant, a brown Mare, 15 or 16 hands high, has a cut on the near knee, and is in low condition. Information to be given to P. C. Henry Morndell, Horsell, near Woking, Surrey. — Bow- street, June 13. Stolen from a field in the occupation of Richard Ely, on the plight of the 29ih or early on the morning of the 30th ult., a dark brown mare Pony, 13 hands high, had a small mark on back from the sadd'e rubbing. £ 1 reward will be paid to any person giving suih information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Burton, Dudley, Worcestershire— Bow- street, June 13. Supposed to have heen stolen from the lands of Mr. Edwd. Elliott, in the parish of Houghton, Sussex, on the 2nd instant, nine stock Lambs, if wethers they are marked with a dot on the rump, and if ewes with a dot on the near side. If stolen, whoever will give such information and evidence as will discover and convict the offender or offenders, shall receive a reward of £ 3, to be paid by the said Edward Elliott, and a further reward of £ 5 to be paid by the Arundel Prosecuting Society. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. John Bray, Superintendent of West Sussex Constabulary, Leominster, near Arundel.— Bow- street, June 10. Found on the high- road'near Monmouth, and supposed to have been stolen, a brown mare Pony, in good condition, saddle marks, bang tail, about 11| hands high, has a ring of white hairs round the fore near fetlock, and the letter ' P' cut on the near hip ; supposed to have come through the Forest of Dean. Also supposed to have been stolen on the lst instant, from a field adjoining the turnpike- road leading from Monmouth to Coleford, a cross- bred Ewe, recently shorn, and was suekling a lamb when lost; it is supposed to liavefbeen driven off by some drover, who had attended Monmouth monthly market on the lst instant. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Edmund Wheeldon, Borough Police, Monmouth.— Bow- street, June 10. Found ( supposed to have been stolen), at Prince's End, Staffordshire, on the 28th ultimo, a dark bay horse Pony, about 7 years old, between 13 and 14 hands high, with long square tail and brown mane, black legs, and three small saddle- marks on the back. Information to be given to Inspector Phair, Police Station, Horseley Heath, Tipton, or at any Police Station in the county of Stafford.— Bow- street., June 10. 48 or SO years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark hair, and little or no whiskers ; dressed in a rough brown sealskin coat, dark trousers, and black hat; he is likely to seek employment at some watchmaker's or jeweller's shop. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent J. Embery, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, June 17. A warrant has been issued against a man named WILLIAM SELLERS, moulder, Cleckheaton, who is charged with steal- ing some Brasses at Cleckheaton : he is about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark sallow complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, shaves off his whiskers, but wears a tuft of black hair on end of chin, teeth discoloured, and several of them out in front, and has a scar on left knee ; dressed, when he went away, in a pair of dirty fustian trousers, short white slop, and black cap, sometimes wears a blue pilot cloth short round jacket and waistcoat: hangs his head down when walking, and will probably frequent low beer- houses and brothels. Inti- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ball, West Rufing Constabulary, Court House, Bradford, Yorkshire.— Bom- street, June 17. Description of an Irishman charged with committing a felony at Allerton, on the 9th instant: 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, swarthy complexion, fawn speckled, stout build ; dressed in a blue monkey jacket ( much worn), dirty cotton cord trousers, supposed velvet cap, and clogs without irons. He is a rag collector, and last resided at Threadneedle- stieet, Bradford, and he frequents a lodging- house at Keighley, and also at Halifax. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ball, Court House, Bradford.— j Bow- street, June 17. Madeley, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.- street, June 15. - Bow- MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of two men who are charged with uttering base coin at Flockton, Yorkshire, on the 3rd instant: one about 28 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light complexion, thin face ; dressed in grey mixture coat and trousers, and black billycock hat: the other about 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, thin face ; dressed in black jacket and trousers, and light cap. They are supposed to have come from the neighbourhood of Huddersfield. Information to be given to Mr. William Hall, Superintendent, Wakefield. — Bow- street, June 20. DAVID HASTELOW, who escaped from the Weston Reformatory on the 15th ultimo, and described in tfhe Police GaSetfe of the 20t, h ultimo, has been apprehended and restored to tjie Weston Reformatory authorities.— Bow- street, June 20. > j Description of a man committed for trial at the ensuing Radnorshire Assizes, on the charge of Stabbing : WILLIAM ROBSON VEST, a native of Castle End, Durham, 49 years of age, about 6 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers turning grey, light blue eyes, scars on nose, right cheek, and on left side of chin, a number of worts on hands ( particularly on back of right hand) ; he is a rough rail- way carpenter, and it is supposed that he has been con- victed of a similar offencein Worcestershire or Gloucestershire. I Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Constance, Penybont, or to P. C. Thomas Delahay, New bridge, Radnor- shire.— Bow- street, June 20. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of GEORGE HARVEY, who is charged that being bailee of two pieces of Cloth, the property of Edwin Hickmott, of Brighton, he did fraudulently convert the same to his own use. He is a tramping tailor, late of No. 26, John- street. Brighton, about 60 years of age, tall and slight, grey hair and whiskers, has lost one eye, wears glasses ( one of the. glasses is black) ; dressed in an old black dress coat, black waistcoat and trouseif, and high- crowned black hat. Information to be given to the Head Constable, Town Hall, Brighton.— Bow- street, June 20. Description of GEO. TURNER, a collier, who absconded from Tankersley, Yorkshire, during the night of the 10th instant, stealing the following articles, the property of Barnabas Lawton, with whom he lodged : a pair of linen Sheets, a pair of linen Pillow- cases, a cotton Counterpane, a man's linen Shirt, and a pair of grey woollen Stockings. He is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light complexion, slender build, and small moustache ; dressed in woollen cord trousers, black shooting coat, black vest with a flower at each side, black turban hat, and plaid scarf. He is supposed to be accompanied by a woman, 46 years of age, o feet 1 inch high, dark com- plexion, black hair turning grey ; dressed in dark winsey dress, scarlet and white plaid scarf, straw bonnet trimmed with brown ribbon, high- heeled boots with small cappel on each side. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Green- halgh, West Riding Constabulary, Barnsley, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 20. Stolen on the night of the 12th instant, from the house of James Glancey, Brymbo, near Wrexham, the following pro- perty : a suit of black Clothes, a pair of corduroy Trousers, a blue silk Handkerchief with white flowers, a brown woollen Scarf, a light scarf Shawl, a pair of top Boots, and a black cloth Cap. By a lodger named JOHN GREGSON or GREXSON, an Irish labourer, about 5 feet 8 inches high, red hair and whiskers, thick set, freckled face and neck, lost one . tooth in front of upper jaw ; and dressed in drab cord trousers, black waistcoat, light tweed coat, and black jimcrow hat. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. John Bradshaw, Superintendent, Wrex- ham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, June 20. Absconded on the 13th instant, charged with embezzle- ment, ROBERT DEBNEY, clerk, 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, pale complexion, and high cheek bones ; dressed in dark clothes, is of respectable appear- ance, has a drawling way of speaking, and is a native of Wood- bridge, Suffolk. Information to be given to Mr. Inspector Knight, Moor- lane Police Station, E. C.— Bow- street, June 20. Description of FRANCIS GEO. PEARSON, a commer- cial clerk, who has absconded from Sheffield, charged with embezzlement: about 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather thin features, is a native of Gainsborough, and has been employed as a warehouseman, and will probably endeavour to obtain similar employment. Information to be given to Mr. Jackson, Chief Constable, Town Hall, Sheffield, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 20. Further information respecting the three tramps, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 15th instant, charged with stealing Lead at Frant: THOMAS CLARKE, GEORGE PORTER, and the woman are undergoing a sentence of six weeks in Petworth Gaol; CHARLES BRAY is still at large, he has a peculiar appearance about the eyes, and carries his head forward. A warrnt has been issued for the apprehension of a man named ABRAHAM SMITH, a labourer, a native of Boston, Lincolnshire, and who absconded on the 26th ultimo charged with felony. He is about 33 or 34 years of age, nearly 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair, sallow complexion, nose slightly to one side as it' injured from a blow, and generally wears a short white slop, dirty cord or fustian trousers, cloth cap, and cossack boots, such as are worn by the North Lincoln Militia, to which corps he formerly belonged ; he took with him a black cloth coat and a billycock hat, and may be wearing the same ; he frequents low beer- houses and brothels.
