V.," as they cannot be published without his INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the night of the Oth instant, Henry Cooper, of Hands- worth, gardener, was murdered on the highway between Slade Hooton and Roche Abbey. £ 100 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's government, to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and eonvictien of the murderer or murderers of the above Henry Cooper, and Sir George Grey will advise the grant of Her Majesty's graclon^ fiarcJon to uny accomplice, hot being one of the persons who struck the deceased, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to the like result. Two men of the following description are charged with the above murder : one about 30 years of age, 6 feet 2 or 3 inches high, light com- plexion, and sandy or light whiskers; dressed in two white jackets ( or one of them a slop), mixture trousers, light billy- ' cock hat, and clogs ; the other about 40 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, and black hair; dressed in a blue monkey jacket, small white slop underneath, speckled trousers, black billycock hat, and old Wellington boots. They are vagrants, and go about the country begging ; sometimes work a few days and lodge at common lodging or outhouses ; were last seen at Rotherham on the 10th instant. Information to be given to Lieut Col. Cobbe, Chief Constable, West Riding Constabulary; Mr. Superintendent Gillett, Court House, Rotherham ; or to any ot the Police.— Bow- street, April 25. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. About 6- 30 a, m. on the 17th instant the farm premises of Thomas Whiteley, at Greasbro', Yorkshire, were discovered to be on fire. Supposed to be the act of an incendiary. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gillett, Court House, Rotherham, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, April 20. ROBBERY AND LARCENY PROM THE PERSON. Supposed to have been stolen, about 6- 30 a. m. on the 2nd instant, from the person of a gentleman, between Reather- street and Tebbut- street, by the Railway Flags, Rochdale- road, a leather Purse, containing four £ 60 Bank of England Notes, Noe. 39760, 40783, 43420, 43421, U. G. Manchester, January otb, 1863, Any person or persons restoring them, or giving such information as niay lead to their recovery, to Mr. C. W. Godby, Superintendent of Police, B Division Police Station, or at any of the Police Stations in the city of Manchester, will receive £ 20 reward, on conviction of the offender or offenders, if stolen.— Bow- street, May 4. Stolen on the 2nd instant, from a gentleman in the borough of Stockport, a silver lever stop Watch, plain case, seconds hand, No. 4270. Information to be given to Mr. J. Moores, Chief Superintendent of Police, Borough of Stockport.— Bow- street, May 4. Stolen from the person at Dover, on the 2nd instant, a gold Watch, makers Greville & Son, London, an Albert Chain, and Seal, crest— h « nd holding a raised spear. Information to lie given to the Head Constable, Dover.— Bow- street, May 4. Stolen on the 26th instant from the person of Thomas Woolcoombe, Esq., on the platform of the Railway Station, Exeter, a gold hunter duplex Watch, cut in case to show the dial and hands, enamelled figures on outside of case, white enamel dial, keyless, winds and sets hands in pendant, maker Dent, No. 13700. A reward of £ 10 10s. will be paid on recovery of the watch, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. John Lynn, Head Constable, Devonport.— Bow- street, April 29. Stolen on the evening of the 21st instant, from the person of a gentleman, a large gold lever Watch, white dial, shield and garter on back, No. 4973. Any person giving such infor- mation as thall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the watch shall receive £ 5 reward, on application to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Town Hall, King- street, Manchester.— Bow- street., April 27. Stolen from the person of John Cooper, at the ' Sun' inn, Charnham- street, Hungerford, Wilts, a pair- case silver verge Watch, No. 6106, maker Woodham, Hungerford, a brass Chain attached, some of the links broken and tit d up with twine. Supposed by a man about 28 years of age. 6 feet 8 inches high, has a cast, in right eye, and slightly pock pitted ; dressed in a dark loose jacket, dfcrk trousers, and cap; he repre- sented himself as a gunmaker, and said he was on his way to London in search of work. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Thomas Stretton, Wilts Constabulary, Marl- borough.-— Bow- street, April 27. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 30th ultimo the dwelling- house of Mr. Thomas Alldrett, of Pipe Redware, near Rugeley, Staffordshire, was burglariously entered, and the following articles stolen: a gold Wedding Ring, much worn ; a gold Keeper Ring, inlaid with white stone ; a ditto, with glass and dark brown hair; a pair of gold Earrings, fluted pattern ; a silver Pencil- case, maker Mordan ; a pair of lace- up nailed Boots, boy's size ; two copper Indian Coins, annas ; a silver ditto, value Is. 2d. ; a ditto ditto, value 7£ d. ; a Medal, Coro- nation of Queen Victoria; a ditto, Queen's Visit to Bir- mingham. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Oswell, Guildhall, Stafford.— Bow- street, May 4. Stolen, by burglariously breaking into the house of Margaret Walsh, Friars- green, Warrington, a Paisley Shawl, two lilac cotton printed Dresses ( one with two flounces), a red stuff Dress, an Irish flannel Skirt, a black watered stuff Skirt, a red woollen Neckerchief, a pair of women's leather Boots, three cotton caddy Sheets, a black clotli Jacket, a flannel Shirt, and a Dress. Information to be given at the Police Office, Warrington.— Bow- street, May 4. Stolen by means of burglary;- from the dwelling- house of Christopher Tower, Esq., of Huntsmoor Park, in the parish of Iver, Bucks, during the night of the 26th ultimo, the following property, viz.: 1 small oval silver Inkstand, with two fittings for bottles, and tops to the same, ' A. H.' engraved on the stand. 1 taper silver Candlestick, supported by a figure of harlequin. 1 very small gilt metal Match- box, containing two charm ornaments, one a little compass, the other a boat. 1 metal gilt Clock- case, containing an old repeater Watch, and a Key with wooden handle. 1 silver gilt tray Inkstand, with two ink cups and taper candlestick, crest— a tower. 1 silver taper Candlestick and Extinguisher, crest a griffin. 2 silver Tops to ink glasses. 1 upright Scent Bottle, chased and gilt, standing on feet. 1 yellow ditto ditto, gilt mounted. 1 red velvet Pincushion, with a border of coloured stones and gilt fringe, with a gilt stand. 1 Basket, containing fruit of rich filigree, partly silver and gilt. 1 small circular wooden Work box, with gilt mounting. 1 small silver gilt taper Candlestick, in the shape of a cup with two handles. Entrance was effected by boring the front door with & centre- bit, and afterwards cutting the woodwork away with a chisel and gouge. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, on application to Mr. T. K. Clark, Police Station, Slough, Bucks, or information may be given at any Police Station in the said county.— Bow- street, May 4. Between the hours of 11 p. m. on the 26th, and 6 a. m. on the 26th instant, some peison or persons burglariously entered the dwelling- hou.- e of Mrs. Lawrence, in the borough of Wood- stock, and stole therefrom a Shirt, a Chemise, and a Night- dress, marked 4 P. P.' or ' J. P. P.' The thief or thieves left behind in the house a varnished walking- stick, with a piece broke off the bottom, and a pair of goatskin leggings, with black and brass buttons on them. Information to be given to Inspector Coates, Police Station, Woodstock, Oxon.— Bow- street, April 29. Between the hours of 6 p. m. on the 16th and 6 a. m. on the 16th instant, the dwelling- house of Thomas Henderson, gardener, Coniston Cold, was entered ( during the absence of the family) by breaking a pane in the kitchen window, and the following property stolen therefrom : a double- breasted black cloth Vest; a brown Melton Jacket, with two pockets outside, and silk buttons; three gold Rings, one is cracked ; and a large silver ditto. Also, between 1230 and 5- 30 a. m. on the morning of the 26th instant, the dwelling- house of Luke Hartley, inn- keeper, Bracewell, was entered through the kitchen window, which was left unfastened, and the following property stolen therefrom : six plain and four twilled Blankets, four marked ' 3, 4, 6, 6,' with red or magenta worsted, two double with dark blue stripe'at the ends, and one much worn and repaired in the centre ; two Table- covers, one large size, with white ground and red flowers ; a box of Cigars; and an old grey billycock Hat with black band. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent George Lottey, West Riding Constabulary, Skipton, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, April 29. During the night of the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Rowbottom, of Back Rowarth, in the parish of Glossop, Derbyshire, was entered between 10 p. m. and 6 a. m., and the following property stolen therefrom : a black cloth Coat; a pair of black cloth Trousers, lined with linsey : a grey cloth Vest, with brown buttons ; a brown and red cloth Vest, with brown buttons, and buckle behind; a brown striped Orleans Dress; a black Shawl; and a brown silk Parasol. Description of WILLIAM HANDFORD, alias WILLIAM KITTYS, who is charged with having committed the above burglary : he is a native of Rowarth, about 40 years of a< e, 6 feet 1 or 2 inches high, has the right arm off below the elbow, and has an iron hook attached thereto ; dressed in dark clothes. He has lately returned on a ticket- of- leave, having been sentenced to four years penal servitude, and had nine months of his sentence remitted; he was well known to the police at Manchester before he was sentenced to penal servitude, he frequents Man- chester, Stalybridge, and Salford, and will most likely try and dispose of the property in one of those places. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hudson, Chapel- en- le- Frith, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, April 21. On the night of the 23rd, or morning of the 24th instant, a dwelling- house in the City of Canterbury was broken and entered and a Clothes Bag containing two women's Night Dresses, marked ' Dungate,' three Chemises, and a new Oil Can, stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Mr. R. P. Davies, Superintendent of City Police, Canterbury.— Bow- street, April Ht: ' Between the hours of 1 and 3' 30 a. m. on lit* 20th instant, a pawnbroker's shop at Leigh, was entered through the roof, and t| e following property stolen therefrom, viz.: a black stuff Dress, nearly new, fastens up front with six buttons, one one of which is broken off, bishop sleeves with three buttons *, pocket in front, lined . with grey calico in body and i skirt; a black Orleans stuff Dress, plain body, loose trimmed with velvet, short sleeves, fastens up the front, round the bottom with black braid," lined with fine slate- colouied calico in body, and black cauco in skirt; ictt plaid Dress, nearly new, colours green, black, blue, and red, long sleeves bound with green braid, lined with grey atHNAHiody, and slate- coloured calico- in'and bound round the bottom with green braid ; a daffe'' tweed Paletot, new, long sleeves, fastens down the front with black buttons, and one side is rather longer than the other. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Jackson, Police Office, LeighT — Bow- street, April 27. . Between 1 and 7 a. m. of the 24th instant, the cottage of William Treadwell, of Witwich, near Leamington, was broken into, by taking out a pane of glass and unfastening the window, and the following property stolen: a pair of men's blucher Boots, almost new, with two rows of round- headed nails round the soles, three ditto down the middle, and three ditto round the heels ; two old Shawls ( one black and red plaid, the other black and green with flowers on it) ; a black cloth Jacket, much worn, four large bone buttons down the front; four coarse house Towels, one with new white patch on it; a piece of old Linen, about 1 yard square ; an old linen Shirt, man's size, no front, mottled buttons on it; a calico Chemise; an old striped muslin Curtain; about 2 lbs. of Tea, mostly black ; some moist Sugar ; and a pair of men's worsted Stock- ings, very old. Information to be given to James Erskine, Inspector, Southam, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, April 27. During the night of the 24tb instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Thomas Buckley, situate at Baint Green, Alvechurch, was broken and entered and the following property stolen therefrom : a black cloth Jacket, a grey striped ditto, a black cloth Vest, a coloured silk Handkerchief, a pair of black kid Gloves, a paid of lead colour ditto, a gold keeper Ring, a silver tea- caddy Spoon marked ' Z', a blue knitted Purse with gold lappets, a pair of blucher Boots, and a pair of short Wellington ditto, about half worn. Also stolen the same night, from the premises of Mr. Rueben Partridge, at Baint Green, in the parish of Bromsgrove, a blue cloth Jacke( j; with velvet collar, and a black low- crowned Ha^ Information to be given at the Police Station, King's Heath, i Bromsgrove.— Bow- street, April 27. Supposed to have been stolen from Abbeydore, Hereford, since the 22nd ultimo, ten yearling Southdown Sheep, ' A. C.' pitch marked on the side, punched through the ears, unshorn, and the wool is of a yellow colour, the property of the Rev. TURLEY, late booking clerks at the Ramsgate and Margate Terminus of the London, Chatham, and Dover Railway, who absconded on the night of the 25th ultimo, charged upon a warrant with stealing £ 37, the moneys of their masters : Deeks is 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, dark complexion, dark hair cut short and inclined to ctlrl, very small whiskers and moustache, and walks erect, with a short quick step ; dressed in brown overcoat, blaciv undercoat, chocolate striped trousers and vest; lie is a native , of Brighton. Turley is 20 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, florid complexion, dark brown hair, with sandy hair on the chin, and walks eiectlyj with his head thrown back ; dressed in tweed jacket and vest, light mixture trousers, and black hat with a band ; he is a native of Wrexham, Den- bighshire.
