C. *„* Whenever it is desired that any person should V) e appre- hended, and the A'ante is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may he addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Oftine, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. At an adjourned inquest held on the 20th ultimo, the coroner's jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown, for the murder of a male child found in the Shropshire Union Canal, at the parish of Llandisilio, Montgomeryshire, on the 18th January last; it appeared to have been in the water about fourteen days, and to be between two and three months old; dressed in a white calico shirt, long flannel, the top lined with calico, red flannel binder, small pattern lilac print nightgown, white woollen hood, and two calico napkins; the clothes all appear to be new and neatly made. A reward of £ 50 will be paid by the Government to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers of the said child ; and Sir George Grey will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to the same result. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Welshpool, or at the Llandisilio Police Station, where the clothes may be seen.— Bow- street, March 4. FORGERY. Absconded from Nottingham, charged with forgery, JOHN SPRAY, machine builder, about 48 years of age, 6 feet 10 or 11 inches high, thin face, prominent forehead, light brown hair very thin on top of head, small whiskers, walks upright, and is of respectable appearance ; it is supposed he will try to go abroad. Information to be given to Mr. J. Hedington, Chief Constable, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 7. given to Mr. Wm. Burniston, Chief Police Officer, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and will pay any reasonable expense that may be incurred.— Bow- street, March 7. Stolen from the person at Farningham Steeplechase, on the 3rd instant, a gold hunting Watch, white enamel dial, makers Strand and Hebtrey, 77, Blackman- street, Borough. £ 10 reward will be given on recovery of the watch, and con- viction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. C. Brandon, Superintendent, Kent Constabulary, Dart- ford.— Bow- street, March 7. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, in the borough of Ripon, with great violence, between 11 and 12 p. m. on the 27th ultimo, a double bottom engine- turned silver lever Watch, expansion balance, jewelled in six holes, spring above, sunk seconds, and capped, No. 50974, had attached a gold Albert Chain, snake pattern, with a Key which is supposed to have a blue and red stone turning on a swivel at the top of key ; a red faded leather Purse, with clasp, containing £ 5 14s. in Gold and Silver. By two men of the following description : one about 28 years of age, 5 feet Cor 7 inches high, round pale face, no whiskers ; dressed in dark cloth short jacket, dark trousers and vest, and dark low crowned hat. The other about 30 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout built, large round face, thick lips, no whiskers, very ruff hands, and rolling gait; dressed in grey cloth or fustian coat, black cloth trou- sers, and light grey cap, he may have changed his coat and be wearing a red plush or worsted waistcoat, with fustian back and sleeves. £ 2 reward will be paid on the recovery of the watch, and conviction of the offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Wm. Burniston, Chief Borough Police Office, Ripon.— Bow- street, March 4. Stolen from the person of Edwin Tailer, at Hadeley- green, Ironbridge, Salop, on the 14th ultimo, a silver verge Watch, with plain figures, makers Delvecctio and Catia, Wellington, Salop, No. 1293 ; it may be pawned or sold in some of the surrounding towns. Information to be given to P. C. Wood- hous, Ironbridge, Salop.— Bow- street, March 4. Stolen from the person at Cambridge steeple chase, on the 18th ultimo, supposed by some persons who came from the neighbourhood of Shoreditch, and are in the habit of attending races, a single cased silver lever Watch, convex dial, and steel hands, the back opens by a thumb- piece, maker Wm. Harris, Newmarket ; had a bronze chain of foreign make attached. Also a gold double bottom hunting Geneva Watch, anchor escapement, jewelled in 10 holes with five rubies, white enamel dial with seconds hand, the case has a number on it and is engine- turned. Information to be given to Mr. Chief Super- intendent Stretten, Chesterton- road, Cambridge.— Bow- street, March 4. Stolen about 4 p. m. on the 2nd instant, from the person of a lady, at a draper's shop in Market- place, Burslem, a leather Purse, with brass clasp in the shape of a hand, containing two £. 5 Bank of England Notes, one is numbered W | P 63541, October 14, 1863, both are marked in ink ' Mrs. Ford, 27th ( or 20th) 2- 64, J. M.,' payment of which is stopped ; and three Sovereigns. £ 2 reward will be given to any pel son giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and convic- tion of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Mr. Thomas Povey, Superintendent of Police, Burslem, Staffordshire Potteries.— Bow- street, March 4. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Description of a man charged with stealing from the person : a native of Wapping, a coal- whipper, 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion and hair, high cheekbones, short neck ; dressed in blue monkey jacket, fustian vest and trousers, and black cloth cap with peak.— — Metropolitan Police, K Division, March 7. Description of a man charged with highway robbery : a native of Wapping. 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion and hair, no whiskers; dressed in a monkey jacket, fustian trousers and vest, black cloth cap, and lace boots. He is was convicted at Maidstone in August last, and sentenced to six months' imprisonment.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, March 7. Supposed to have been stolen, from the person of Jane Robinson, of 109, Bold- street, Liverpool, at Carnarvon, about the 2nd instant, or between Carnarvon and Liverpool, via Chester, or at Liverpool, a light leather Purse, with steel spring, containing five £ 5 Notes, about £ 10 in Gold, a small Brooch, with an Irish diamond set in silver, and a small gold Teakettle. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Stephen Davies, Carnarvon, or to Mr. Superintendent Kehoe, Central Police, Liverpool.— Bow- street, March 7. Further particulars of the two men charged with robbery in the city of Ripon, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 4th instant. One of the men has been apprehended in Leeds, who gave the name of THOMAS METCALFE, a native of Ripon, but latterly resided at Leeds. The other is still at large, and is of the following description : WILLIAM SUT- CLIFFE, alias CURLY BILL, a native of New Town, Leeds, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8J inches high, stoutly built, very broad chest and shoulders, large round face, thick lips, short neck, dark hair curly behind, sallow complexion, and no whiskers; dressed, when last seen on the 2nd instant, in a grey mixture cloth suit, and a billycock hat. Information to be Stolen on the 22nd instant, from a gentleman in York- street, St. James's, a brown leather Pocket- book, containing four £ 10 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 49613, 48139, 47876, 5060, H i first three dated 1862, the other 8163 ; two £ 5 Bank of Eng id Notes ; and three Sovereigns.— Metropolitan Police, C Dim, , .:, February 26. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 2nd or morning of the 3rd inst., the ' Crown and Cushion' inn, Bradley- green, in the parish of Biddulph, Staffordshire, was broken and entered, and the follow: property stolen therefrom : a pair of boy's strong leather ;- up Boots, part worn, brass eyelets ; a pair of woriien ick cloth Boots, part worn, have been repaired on the outsit of heels and inside of soles ; a woollen Scarf Shawl, black and white plaid, large size, much worn ; a small woollen Shawl, small plaid of various colours, a hole in it from being pinned round the neck ; about 3s. in silver and copper Money, and about 8 lbs. of Bacon. Information to be given to Inspector Scott, Tunstall, or at any Police Office in the county of Stafford. - Bow- street, March 7. Description of a Watch stolen from the person of William Grace, at the ' Sun' public- house, Chamham Street, Wilts, on the 27th ultimo, by a man who is Temanded, and who gives the name of JOHN MENGMAN, of Dog- row, Three Coats- lane, Mile End, London, and is about 27 years of age, 5 feet inches high, thin pale face, dark hair, no whiskers, and shabbily dressed. It is a pair case rack lever watch, No. 6911, maker A. Heckles, Liverpool, with brass Chain and three com- mon Keys, one broken, a small Seal, an American Coin, and three Cents attached. Information to be given to Mr. Thomas Stetten, Superintendent, Marlborough, Wilts. — Bow- street, March 2. Stolen about 8 p. m. on the 26th ultimo," from the person of a gentleman in the city of Manchester, a gold lever Watch, makers' H. Davies and Sons, Birmingham. Any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and convic- tion of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch, shall receive £ 3 reward, on application to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Town Hall, King- street, Manchester.— Bow- street, March 2. Stolen between 4 and 6 p. m. on the 25th instant, from the person of George Workman, on the highway near Semple Sowerby, Westmorland, a strong jean Purse, with partition, containing £ 20 in Sovereigns, Half- sovereigns, and Silver, and three £ 5 Notes, supposed of different banks. By a woman, from 20 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark complexion, dark brown eyes, proportionate make, round freckled face ; dressed in a white and brown mixture straw hat, trimmed with dark ribbon, dark shawl, white stockings, and boots, and when walking has a waddling gait. She is supposed to be accompanied by two men who were on the road near the place at the time the robbery was committed : one is 20 or 21 years of age, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, stout build ; dressed in dark clothes, daik cap, and carried a dark stick. The other appears to be from 40 to 50 years of age, nearly 6 feet high, rather grey hair, and slender build ; dressed in a dark coat, and hat, and supposed drab or cord ribbed trou- sers. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent R. Parks Constabulary Office, Appleby, or at the County Chief Con- stable's Office, Carlisle,— Bow^ street, February 29. On the night of the 4th, or morning of the 5th inst., some person or persons broke and entered the premises of Mr. Bul- lock, jeweller and silversmith, in the Market Place, Chippen- ham, and stole therefrom : 250 gold Rings, 40 to 50 gold Pencil Cases, upwards of 60 silver ditto, 100 gold breast Pins, 60 gold Guards and Albert Chains, 5 or 6 silver Gravy Spoons, upwards of 30 silver Table Spoons, 6 dozen silver Tea Spoons, 7 or 8 pairs of silver Sugar Tongs, 15 to 20 silver Fruit Knives, 18 pairs of Salt and Mustard Spoons, 2 gold Bracelets, 1 gold Brooch, and 1 silver Cream Jug with three letters on it. Whoever will give such information as will lead to the recovery of the property, and the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 10 reward. Information to be given to Mr. Wright, Superintendent of Police, Chippen- ham, Wiltshire.— Bow- street, March 7. Between 9 a. m. and 6 p. m. the 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of James Mather, labourer, of Moscan, was broken and entered, and stole therefrom : a dark mixture cloth Coat, slightly tinged with red, two outside pockets in ilie laps, and one outside left breast, bound with black braid, covered buttons, torn inside left lap ; and a cotton Night Dres9, marked ' A. Gaunt, No. 2.,' inside the neck. Supposed by a tramp of the following description, who was seen coming from the house with a bundle ; about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high; dressed in dirty dark coloured clothes and cap. trousers torn in front of body, shoes much worn. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Parkin, West Riding Constabulary, Tadcaster. — Bow- street, March 7. Between 6 and 9 30 p. m. on the 3rd instant, the Newport ( Salop) Lockup- house was broken and entered during the absence of the constable in charge, and the following property stolen : an American Time- piece, Gothic pattern, about 20 in. by 10 in., a bit broken off one of the spires, white dial, and a small piece of enamel chipt off near the centre, with alarum ; a blue Over Coat, lined with plaid, ( ockets outside and two inside, and pieces let into the sleeves near the cuffs; a green cloth Vest, with dark back and lining, no collar ; a brown mixture ditto, single breasted, roll collar, bound with braid, and horn buttons; and a silk Pocket Handkerchief, red ground with yellow flower, brown near border and shells on the edge ( can be identified). Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Mr. J. Richardson, Deputy Chief Constable, Welling- ton ; or to P. C. ( 7) Richard Dovey, Newport, Salop.— Bow- street, March 7. Between the hours of 10 a. m. and 4 p. m. on the 3rd inst., the dwelling- house of Mr. William Bennett, at Highwood, near Uttoxeter, was broken and entered, and a large dark red Paisley Scarf Shawl, full pattern, having fringe at the end, and a narrow dark green silk border ; about 3 lbs. of Cheese, and a piece of Plum Cake, stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Inspector Crisp, Police Station, Uttoxeter, Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, March 7. The dwelling- house of Mr. S. C. Walton, of Ashbourne, Derbyshire, was broken and entered between 3 and 4 p. m. on the 2nd instant, during the absence of the family, and two silver Tea Spoons, marked ' S. L. W.,' two ditto, electro, not marked, and three Sovereigns, were stolen therefrom. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent James Corbishley, Constabulary, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, March 4. During the night of the 1st instant, the office of Mr. Heptinstall, miller, of Castleford, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz.: about 10s. in Copper Money, a dark grey mixture shooting Coat, black horn buttons, bound with black braid, pockets inside and out, and much worn ; a light grey dress Coat, thin material, has been washed, pockets outside and one inside left breast, ink mark inside left breast caused by wiping a pen, and large brown buttons, one of which is broken ; a black curled hairy Cap, with oar covers. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Hall, West Riding Sessions House, Pontefiact, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, March 4. Stolen during the night of the 27th ultimo, from the dwelling- house and shop of Mrs. Mary Rushton, grocer, Wokingham, Berks, by means of housebreaking : a very old- fashioned small silver verge Watch, flatglass slightly fractured, ronnd handle, had a piece of black ribbon and a brass key attached; a very old- fashioned pinchbeck Watch, back very unlocking t! counting- house Stamps, and .5s. wor? given to Mr. James Wetli? oashire.— Bow- street, February Between the 3rd December during the absence of the family, the dwelling- house _ of Thomas Atkinson, of the township of Sedbergh, Yorkshire, licensed hawker, was broken and entered, and four striped cotton Shirts ; a pair of ribbed fustian Trousers ( boy's Size).} a green cloth Crimean Overcoat ; a large diaper Table Cover ; a woman's lilac cotton Dress ; a black and green Counterpane on white ground ; a woollen Blanket; a small piece of bedside Carpet; and three or four Pillowcases, stolen^ therefrom. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Exton, West Riding Court Room, Iugleton, near Lancaster, Yorkshire.- Bow- street, February 29. Description of a ticket- of- leave convict, No. of licence 114 A, charged with burglary : a man, 21 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fair complexion, full face, high cheekbones, light hair; dressed in dark clothes .— Metropolitan Police, P Division, February 20. HORSE AMD CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 2nd instant, nine in- lanib Ewe Sheep of the Liecester breed, out of a field near Blaby Wharf, in the occupation of Mr. 11. Stall, of Little Glenn, Leicestershire. The sheep have their left ears slit OD the top edge, and ' II' branded on the near side. ^ If stolen £ 5 will be given to any one who will give such infor- mation as will lead to the conviction of the offender or jOffenders and recovery of the sheep. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Burdett, Ayleston, near Leicester.— Bow- street, March 7. Found on the 21st ultimo, at Shottesbrook, in the county of Berks, and supposed to have been stolen, a black Mare, has been clipped, aged, 14 hands high, has a large white star in forehead, white nose, bang tail, in good condition, and has been used in harness. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Iremonger, Constabulary Office, Maidenhead, ierlcs.— Bow- street, March 7. Supposed to have been stolen from Wombourne, Stafford- shire, on the 21st ultimo, the property of Mr. Henry Edwards, two yearling Rams, black faces, and pitch marks on rump with letter ' G.' " Information to be given to Sergeant Allin, Police Station, Merry- hill, near Wolverhampton ; to P. C. John Dob- son, Wombourn, near Dudley ; or at any Police Station in the County of Stafford.— Bow- street, March 7. The sheep supposed to have been stolen from a field at Minsterley, Salop, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 29th ultimo, have been recovered and restored to the owner .- Bow- street, March 7. Supposed to have been stolen on or about the 25th ultimo, from Heathfield, in the parish of Letterstone, in the county of Pembroke, the property of Mr. J. B. Allen, a brown gelding Donkey, with a slit over the butt of left ear, and without shoes ; was last seen on the 25th ultimo. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent George Jones, Deputy Chief Con- stable, Fishguard, or to Captain A. B. O. Stokes, Chief Con- stable, Haverfordwest.— Bow- street, March 7. Left at the 1 Queen's Head' stables, Downham Market, on the night of the 2nd instant or early the following morning ( Winnoul Fair), a chesnut Horse, rising 4 years old, 14 hands high, had apparently been ridden, and is supposed to have been stolen. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Watson, Downham Market, Norfolk.— Bow- street, March 7. Stolen, on the night of the 23rd instant, from a stable at Wendover, Buckinghamshire, a brown Horse, about 14 hands high, rising 4 years old, small feet, very long in the fore pasterns, and in good condition ; and a brown Mare, 14£ hands high, hind fetlocks white, brown muzzle, star on forehead. The Horses have been traced to Reading, where they arrived at 9 a. m. on the 24th instant, in the possession of two men : 1st, 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark com- plexion, black hair; dressed in corduroy jacket and trousers, old lace- up boots ( brass eyelets) split on the fore parts, and black turban hat. The other is about 17 years of age, about 5 feet high, round fa e, and stout made ; dressed in a ragged brown coat, black vest and trousers, black blllyeock hat, turned up at sides. It is supposed that they travel and lodge in a van, yellow colour, edged with black, and the name of' Dell, Bushey, Herts,' painted thereon ; the van is drawn by a brown horse, about lo hands high, and is accompanied by a tilted cart, green colour, and drawn by a chesnut hoise about 13 hands high. £ 1 reward will be paid to any person who will give such infor- mation as will lead to the recovery of the horses, and con- viction of the offender or offenders, on application to Mr. Job Denson, Superintendent of Police, Aylesbury.— Bow- street, Mareh 7. Supposed to have been stolen from Tarporley, on the 28th ultimo, the property of Mr. George Ellis, a bay mare Pony, with white face, about 12£ hands high, has a spavin on off hind leg, ajrd is aged. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Gwyne, Police Office, Tarporley, Cheshire.— Bow- street, March 4. Between the 27th ultimo and the 1st instant, a ewe Sheep, the property of Mr. Edward Spence, of Sutton, near Hull, was slaughtered in a field near his house, and the carcase taken away, the skin, head, and feet having been left behind. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Robert Watson, Superintendent, East Riding Constabulary, Sproatley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, March 4. Stolen during the night of the 25th instant, from a stable at Rodeu, in the parish of High Ercall, in the county of Salop, the property of Mr. William Light, farmer, a black Cart Horse, in good condition, rather clear legged and active, rising 8 years old, about 16 hands high, long tail, has a small lump within the skin inside the off thigh ; also stolen, a Head Collar with Chain, and Cart Bridle with twisted Bit and joint in it. A man of the following description is suspected : about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather light hair, small whiskers, and pale sallow complexion ; dressed ( the day pre- vious) in old dark trousers torn about the knees, cotton cord ditto underneath, a drab smock frock, grey waistcoat, red neckerchief, dirty shirt collar turned down over it, and dark cloth cap with peak. He has been living at farm- houses in the counties of Salop and Chester, is well known about Whit church, and is supposed to have lived near Crewe and Nant- wich. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and convic- tion of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the horse. Information to be given to Mr. Richardson, Deputy Chief Constable, Wellington, Salop.— Bow- st., February 29. Stolen between 9 p. m. on the 24th, and 6 a. m. on the 25th instant, from a farm- yard in the occupation of Mr. Saunders, at Cane End, in the parish of Caversham, Oxon, a black Filly, rising 4' years old, white star on forehead, white streak down the nose, one white heel, bang tail, has a crack in the hoof of the off fore foot, extending from the back to the centre on the outside of the bpof. Information to be given to P. S. Edward Williams, Caversham, or to Mr. Superintendent Philip Cope, Heniev- on- Thames, Oxon.— Bow- street, February 29. Further information respecting the Horse stolen from Moon's Leaze, Purton, Wilts, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the loth instant: it is rather of a bright bay with dark legs, mane, and tail, in good working condition, and a small white spot, about the size of a shilling, in front of the near foot. Information to be given to Mr. llaynes, Superin- tendent of Police, Malmesbury.— Bow- street, February 26. Description of WILLIAM WILLIAMS, labourer, native of Llanfairtalbaiarn, Denbighshire, who is committed for trial at the next assizes for that county, charged with sheep steal- ing : he is at, out 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion ( slightly freckled), dark brown hair which grows low on his neck, and hazel eyes; it is supposed that be has been previously convicted in North or South Wales. By three men of the following! description, who broke the plate glass window with a half brick: one about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, and slight moustache ; dressed in a black cloth overcoat, black billycock hat, dark muffler round his neck, and light shoes or boots : another about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light com- plexion, no whiskers; dressed in a dark grey overcoat, black billycock hat with narrow brim, white comforter round his neck, dark trousers, and shoes : the other similarly dressed to the second man. They can be identified. Stolen, on the 29th ultimo, from the dwelling- house of Thomas Kirk, at Eastbourne, Sussex, an old- fashioned pinch- beck Watch, figured face, and a small piece broken off, the case is very thin; a silver Pin in the shape of a horse shoe; a brown pebble Brooch, the pin is fastened with a common pin ; a brown Cashmere Shawl; a black ditto, with blue binding; a pair of men's side- spring Boots, rivetted soles and gutta percha heels ; a flannel Shirt; and a lindsey ditto. By a man and woman of the following description, who lodged at the house a fortnight: the man is a labourer, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light grey eyes, dark hair and whiskers, spare figure, and'dressed in light moleskin trousers, dark coat, white slop underneath, and cloth cap ; the woman is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair and eyes, and stout figure ; supposed to be wearing one of the stolen shawls, cottage bonnet ( supposed to be trimmed with red and brown ribbon, and supposed to be wearing the stolen boots, as she left her old ones behind. They were traced on the road to Battle, Sussex, and are supposed to be making their way to Kent, and are likely to be found in low lodging houses. They left behind them three pawnbroker's! Duplicates for the follow- ing property: at William French and Ogilvie's, 207, High- street, Poplar, 13th July, 1863, a Shawl, for 4s., in the name of A. Adams, No. 490 ; on the ticket; at the same place, on March 20, 1863, a Petticoat for Is. 6d., same name, No. 0270 ; at John Dicker's, late Olley, 16th April, 1863, a Cloak for 4s., same name, No. 2389. They have been offering some of the articles for sale on the road. He has lived in several parts of the county of Durham as farm servant, but has for some time back been tramping about the country. T. Brown— Private WILLIAM WESTLAND, of the 19th Regiment of Foot ( servant), 18 years of age, 5 feet 6| inches high, fresh colour, dark brown hair, was enlisted at Leeds, but is a native of Holbeach, near Lincoln; he has a mother residing at Holbeach, whose name is Ashling, his friends are known in that neighbourhood, and he is supposed to he there, as he was seen in a railway train at Hitchin on his way to Lincoln. Stolen in the borough of Reading, between the 10th and 26th ultimo, the following property, viz.: a lavender- coloured linsey Dress, trimmed with black velvet; a pair of balmoral Boots, newly soled, tips on heels, and the right boot has been mended ; a double- breasted Overcoat, black ribbed cloth, has two pockets in the skirts behind, one ditto inside left breast, and black buttons ; a single- breasted block Coat or loose Jacket, with three pockets outside, and one button near the collar ; a yellow silk Handkerchief, and a light- coloured cloth Vest with dark stripes. A man of the following description is uspected of stealing all the above articles except the linsey dress and boots: about 29 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, long dark hair, and has lost two upper front teeth; dressed in a dark blue pilot coat, dark mixture trousers ( very dirty), black cloth cap with peak, and Wellington boots. Stolen from a house in Ulverston, on the 15th instant, an Inverness Cape, by WILLIAM MARSH, tailor, 39 years of age, 6 feet G or 7 inches high, pule looking, hair turning grey, grey eyes, very thin make, and walks lame upon his toes ; dressed in a black cloth surtout coat, plaid vest and trousers, old thin boots, and old black silk hat; says he is a native of Bamber Bridge, near Preston, on tramp, was traced to Preston, and may stop in one of the workhouses ; the cape has been recovered, having been sold by him in Ulverston on the same day. Description of JOSEPH WHITE, a cierk, native of Ilkeston, Derbyshire, charged with larceny, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued: 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, pale complexion ; dressed in a brown striped cloth coat, vest and trousers of the same material, black billycock hat, and military boots. He deserted from the 64th Regiment of Foot, at Colchester, on the 28th ultimo. Information to be given to W. G. Moran, Esq., Deputy Chief Constable, Belper, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, February 20. Further information respecting the sacrilege of Dedworth Chapel, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 22nd instant. The Altar Cloths have been recovered, but neither of the men have been apprehended ; the one then described, us being 5 feet 10 or: ll inches high, is only 5 feet 6 inches, and has his whiskers shaved off the top part of his face, and was dressed in a brown, coat over a blue cloth monkey jacket. The other man is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, pale com- plexion, light hair, cut short, no whiskers, and has very long features. One of the men wears Wellington or balmoral boots, with clump and high military heels, no naijis, the upper leather trod over very much on the outside. . A reward of £ 5 will be given for such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offenders, on application to Inspector Reece, County Police Station, Clewer, Windsor.— Bmo- st., Feb. 29. Description of WILLIAM TATE and MARY JANE TATE, who absconded from Newfield, near Bishop Auckland, on the 10th instant, the formo'r charged with committing a rape, and the latter with aiding ami abetting him in the com- mission of the said offence. He is 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 : or 9 inches high, sallow complexion, slender make, and dressed in black coat, vest, and trousers, blue cloth cap, and cossack boots newly soled. She is 21 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, dark eyes, light brown hair, proportionate figure, and dressed in a black gown, long black cape, and black bonnet. He is a pitman, and will likely seek for work at some of the collieries in Northumberland or Dur- ham. A warrant has been granted for their apprehension. Stolen during the night of the 22nd ultimo, from a church at Early, in the parish of Sonning, Berks, a white damask Cloth for a Communion Table, about 9 feet by 7 feet; hemmed at both ends, about half- an- inch at one end is torn, the border is about 12 inches wide, and the following devices are woven in the cloth : a wreath of flowers tound it, a bunch of grapes and seven or eight ears of barley in each corner, a table with our Saviour and the twelve Apostles, our Saviour holding a cup in the centre, and ' I H S immediately under it; also a white damask Napkin, about 3 feet by 4 feet, with a border similar to the communion cloth, and leaves woven in the centre; and two brass, Plates used for collecting, with some letters engraved round the edges.
