W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. N F O II MATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Absconded, charged with the murder of Ann Johnson, his wife, at 9 p. m. on the 23rd ultimo, in Cazneau- street, Liverpool : SAMUEL JOHNSON, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, broad shoulders thin features, sharp nose, ill- looking, dark complexion and hair, small moustache, tuft of hair on chin, cheeks shaven ; dressed in an old blue monkey jacket, pepper- and- salt coloured vest, dark barragan trousers, dark cloth cap with peak and navy button on each side, and lace- up boots with eyelets; fs a marble mason. Her Majesty's Home Secretary has authorized the payment of a reward of £ 100 to any person giving such information as shall lead to Johnson's apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Kehoe, Detective Department, Police Office, Dale- street, Liverpool.— Bow- street, February 3. JOHN REILLY, described in the Police Gazette of the 6th ultimo, charged with murder in Lanarkshire, Scotland, has been apprehended.— Bow- street, February 3. Absconded from their bail, charged with assaulting, beat- ing, and wounding one Elba Bryant, CHARLES and MARY ASTON: Charles Aston kept a hat and cap maker's shop in St. Mary- street, Cardiff, and is about 39 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches " high, light complexion, brown hair anil whiskers ( bushy), slightly round shouldered, stoops a little, always looks down, and keeps his hands in his pockets when walking. Mary Aston, or Dinah Maria Aston, calls herself the wife of Charles Aston, is about 32 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pale complexion, sharp features ; dresses well and respectably, and sometimes wears curls. They are accompanied by two children : a boy about 5 years of age, and another about 14 months old. £ 5 reward will be given to any person giving such information as will lead to their apprehension. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent J. B. Stockdale, Cardiff, Glamorganshire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension. — Bow- street, February 1. mixed hair, rather bald, stout make, good- looking, clean shaved, about 5 feet 8 inches high, and dressed in dark grey trousers, dark grey overcoat with velvet collar, and a bat with crape half- way up. He took a first- class ticket for London by the express train at 7' 40 p. m. on the 27th instant ultimo, and said he would be in Liverpool on the night of the 1st instant, and desired his letters to be addressed to the Post- office there. Information to be given to H. H. Giles, ' Saracen's Head ' hotel, Temple- gate, Bristol, or to the Chief Superintendent of Police, Central Police Station, Bristol.— Bow- street, February 3. ROBBERY AMD LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen on the night of the 30th ultimo, from the person of a gentleman in the city of Chester, a silver lever Watch, maker Bennett, 64 and 65, Cheapside, London, No. 6588 ; a gold horse shoe Pin ; and some silver Money. Information to be given to Mr. Hill, Chief of the City Police, Chester.— Bow- street, February 3. About 9 p. m. on the 25th instant, as Mr. Michael Hartley, of Bolton, Yorkshire, was returning from Gisburn to Bolton on the high road, when near to Parkhouse Bridge, he was attacked by two men, one held him from behind, while the other rifled his pockets, and took from him a Sovereign and 8s. in Silver. One of the men wa3 dressed in a round jacket, supposed to be fustian, dark trousers, and cap ; the other had a light coat, dark trousers, and cap : both appeared to be from 30 to 35 years of age, and 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent W. H. Cockshott, West Riding Constabulary, Settle ; or to Inspector Merrick, Court House, Bolton- by- Bowland, Yorkshire.— Bow- strect, January 27. On the 19th ultimo the body of a female child was found in a pool of water at Hanbury. An inquest has been held, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' returned against some person or persons unknown. The body appeared to have been in the water three or four weeks. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent John Bevan, Bromsgrove, Worcesterthire.— Bow- street, February 1. On the morning of the 24th instant the body of a newly- born male Child ( with its throat cut) was found, in a privy at the back of Maria- street, Cardiff, Glamorganshire. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the person who placed the body where it was found shall receive £ 5 reward, on application to Mr. Superintendent J. B. Stockdale, Cardiff, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, January 29. Description of JOHN FRETWELL, alias JACK BOBBINER, who has absconded from Victoria, Holmfirth, near Huddersfield, charged with shooting and wounding Hiram Lawton, about 9 p. m. on the 18th instant: 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair and dark whiskers, large mouth, speaks through his nose ( very thin nose), stoops when walking, and has a shuffling gait; dreBsed in a white or blue check smock, sometimes an old fustian shooting coat, fustian trousers and vest, cap, and watertight boots, a bobbin turner, a native of Ing- Birchworth, near Barnsley.— Bow- street, January 25. FORGERY. Description of a man who is charged with uttering a forged Cheque for £ 18 8s. 6d., purporting to be signed by W. King, merchant, of Bristol, to the Manager of the West of England and South Wales District Bank, Clifton Branch, endorsed ' Thomas Clarke, 17, Bellevue- terrace, Toxteth, Liver pool.' He is between 40 and 50 years of age, fair complexion, BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Description of a man charged with burglary, who absconded from Thorpe, Surrey : age 30, 5 feet 5 inches high, complexion and hair dark, whiskers small; dressed ( supposed) cord jacket ( fustian back and sleeves), light fustian trousers and waistcoat, heavy boots ( brass eyelets), black cap with peak ; has the appearance of a navvy.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, February 3. Further particulars respecting the burglary at Easton Neston House, the seat of the Earl of Pomfret. The man described in the Police Gazette of the 22nd ultimo has been apprehended for committing a burglary in Huntingdonshire, aud has been identified as the man who was suspected of com- mitting the burglary at Easton Neston. The plated Spoons have been found in a ditch about five miles away from Easton Neston on the London- road ; the other stolen property has not yet been recovered. £ 30 reward will be paid on the convic- tion of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Towcester, Northamptonshire.— Bow- street, February 3. ' During the evening of the 31st ultimo the dwelling- house of Mr. H. Hartley, Relieving Officer of Chipping Norton, Oxon, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and the following property stolen : seven old Guineas ; six old Half- guineas; £ 3 10s. in gold ; £ 2 10s. in silver ; six silver Tea Spoons, marked ' H. H.'; three gold Studs, white stone at back ; three Pins, one gold knob, one gold with red stone, one silver with diamond in centre ; a large gold ring set with small stones ; a silver hunting coat Link, whip at one end and horseshoe at other ; an Earl Stanhope Microscope ; and a white silk Pocket- handkerchief, marked ' H. H.' Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent C. Howarth, Chipping Norton, Oxon.— Bow street, February 3. The Watch advertised in the Police Gazette of the 1st ultimo, as stolen from the dwelling- house of Miss H. Brough, at Leek, has been recovered, and a man named HENRY LOCKETT has been committed to take his trial for stealing the same by means of housebreaking.— Bow- st., February 3. During the night of the 27th ultimo, or early the follow- ing morning, the dwelling- house of Mr. James Taylor, situate at Long Compton, in the County of Warwick, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen : two Great Coats, one of fine black cloth with alpaca lining, and bound with braid ; the other of rough dark material, covered silk buttons, and plaid lining ; and old black cloth dress Coat; a large grey woollen Shawl; a black cobourg flounced Dress; a youth's grey mixture Inverness Cape ; a youth's Jacket of grey woollen cloth ; two pairs of Boots, one a pair of strong water- tights, and the other a pair of bluchers with the sole nearly off the right foot; two baby's Cloaks ; a black Cape : a brown French merino Scarf; and an old white jimcrow Hat,, with guard. Supposed by a tramp who will probably sell or pawn the stolen articles at some of thp adjoining towns. Information to be given to James Thompson, Superintendent of Police, Ships- ton- on- Stour, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, February 1. About 1 a. m. on the 30th ultimo, the shop belonging to Thomas Quarmby, boot and shoe maker, Openshaw, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen there- from : eight pairs of new Boots, men's size, with elastic sides, black soles, white heels with wrought steel nails, some have buttons down the front, some marked with a round stame, and others with a shamrock; three ditto for the right foot of the same description ; twelve pairs of women's Boots, with elastic sides and military heels, black soles, and riveted; a pair of men's lace- up Boots, brass eyelet holes, patent leather fronts, and a narrow strip of kid up the seam, and two rows of machine stitches on outside counter ; and about twenty pairs of chil- dren's patent leather pump- soled Slippers, of various sizes, with ankle straps. Information to be given to the Superintendent of the County Police, Old Trafford, near Manchester.— Bow- street, February 1. Absconded from Staindrop, on the 22nd ultimo, charged, upon a warrant, with breaning into the shop of Mr. Robert Dickinson, of Staindrop, joiner, and stealing a Plough Plane ( which is recovered), a sash filister Plane, stamped ' R. Dickin- son,' and an iron Plane, fitted up with mahogany and brass, and supposed to be stamped ' R. Dickinson' on the wedge— EDWARD CHARLTON, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, brown hair, sallow complexion, blue eyes, slender make, is a joiner, but frequently works as a millwright; dressed in an old dark cloth coat, fustian trousers, cloth cap, and clogs. He worked last summer on some public works about Keswick and Workington, Cumberland ; he may probably go there again, as he has several acquaintances work- ink in that part. Information to be given to Sergeant Watson, Police Station, Staindrop ; or to Mr. Superintendent Knox, County Constabulary, Barnard Castle, Durham.— Bow- street, Febniary 1. Further particulars respecting the burglary at Ertistock Rectory, situate'on the borders of Denbighshire and Flintshire, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 29th ultimo. The two men suspected have been apprehended, and the whole of the property recovered. They were apprehended near Newport, Salop, travelling in a van, drawn by a brown horse with a white stripe down its forehead; name on the van—' Richard Barrett, Wantage, Berkshire, licensed hawker, No. 2442.' Description of the men : JOHN MATTHEWS, 39 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stoutly built, short face, low forehead, brown hair ( thin on the top) and whiskers meeting under chin; dressed in a russell cord coat with two pockets in the skirts and one in left breast, tweed vest, shepherd's plaid trousers much worn, buckskin leggings, and Rob Roy cap with peak; he was accompanied by a woman whom he calls his wife and three children, a girl 8 years of age, a boy 4 years of age, and an infant 19 months old: he states that lie' is a native of Yorkshire, but does not speak with a Yorkshire accent. JAMES SHAW, a native of Kendal, Cumberland, 52 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, proportionate build, grey hair almost white ( bald on top of head) and whiskers shaved under the chin; dressed in a long blue pilot cloth coat with pockets in the skirts, grey tweed vest, cojduroy trousers, red muffler, and blue cloth cap with peak. Matthews claims the van in which the stolen property was found as his own, states that he committed the burglary, and that Shaw had nothing to do with it and knew nothing about it; but it is suspected that the names given are fictitious, and the account given of themselves incorrect. It is supposed that tliey have committed offences elsewhere, or have been previously convicted. Infor mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bolton, Flintshire Constabulary, Hanmer; or to Mr. Superintendent Bradshaw, Denbighshire Constabulary, Wrexham.— Bow- street, Feb. 1, Description of WILLIAM WYATT, a tramping shoe- maker, who is charged with breaking out of the house of Mr. Ballard, of Cleobury- Mortimer, during the night of the 25th ultimo, stealing a blue and white plaid bundle Handkerchief, a pair of Files, a pair of Compasses, a quantity of kid and patent Leather, and other property. He is about 22 years of age, nearly 5 feet 2 inches high, very dark hair, no whiskers or beard, small dark moustache ( which may be shaved off), stammers very much when speaking, and dressed in a blue surtout coat, dark brown vest without collar, old grey cloth or broad corduroy trousers, good boots, old black cap, the peak of which has been torn and patched with leather, clothes much worn and very dirty, and a new blue and white striped shirt; he carries his tools in a small box, which is papered over with illustrated ounce tobacco papers of various colours, some with ' E. P. Evans, chemist, Cleobury- Mortimer,' printed on them. He is likely to apply for work at shoemakers'. He is accom- panied by a woman 28 years of age, brown hair, sallow com- plexion, rather large features. They may be street singing, or selling fancy paper baskets and rosettes. Information to be given to Sergeant Howells, Cleobury- Mortimer, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Boio- street, February 1. Between 1 and C a. m. on the 29th ultimo the dwelling- house of the Rev. I. W. Routh, of Tilehurst, Berks, was broken and entered, and about 20 lbs. of black Tea ; three damask Table Cloths, chess pattern, marked with red cotton • I. W. R.', 24 yards long and H yard wide; two damask Table Cloths, figured pattern, marked with black ink' I. W. R.', 3^ yards long and 2£ yards wide, were stolen therefrom. A man of the following description is suspected, who called at the house begging on the afternoon previous : 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes and dark cap with peak : had the appearance of a sailor. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Crook, Berks Constabulary Station, Reading.— Bow- street, February 1. Between 1.30 and 2.15 a. m. on the 27th instant, the shop of James Wild, boot and shoemaker, Miles Platting, Newton Heath, Lancashire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen : three pairs of strong Blucher Boots, three brass eyelet- holes on each side, soles with three rows of large nails, heels hobnailed, man's size; two pairs of slender Blucher Boots, three brass eyelet- holes on each side, man's size ; a pair of ditto, boy's size ; a pair of lace- up Boots, ten brass eyelet- holes on each side up the front, man's size; a lace- up Boot for the right foot, ten brass eyelet- holes on each side up the front; and a patent Clog, brass nails round the sale, child's size. Information to he given to the Super- intendent of the County Police, Old Trafford, near Man- chester.— Bow- street, January 29. The dwelling- house of Mr. John Rigby, of Blackrod, innkeeper, was entered by taking out a portion of the back kitchen window, between 12 and 6 a. m. on the 25th instant, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a black cloth frock Coat, plain buttons, one small button at each cuff, had a small strap inside the collar with ' L. B. Harkness, tailor, draper, and hatter, Bolton,' printed thereon. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent John R. Scott, Town Hall, Little Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 27. HORSE AID CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen, on the 28th ultimo, from the parish of Chapel Brampton, the property of J. Beasley, Esq., a bay Pony, about 13 hands high, 7 years old, long tail, rough coat, very fat, and has black legs. Information to be given to Inspector Evans. County Police Station, Angel- street, Northampton.— Bow- street, February 3. Supposed to have been stolen, from a field at Minsterley, Salop, between the 2nd and 5th ultimo, fourteen Sheep of the Welsh breed, ten ewes with white faces, and four wethers ; all have long tails, and are patch marked on one side with ' IV,' and the tame mark, reversed, on the other side. £ 1 reward given on recovery of the sheep, and conviction of the offender or offenders, if stolen. Information to be given to Evan Jones, Police Sergeant, Minsterley, Salop.— Bow- street, lebruary 3. Stolen on the 22nd ultimo, from a stable in Britten- street, Chelsea, a dark bay cart Horse, 17 hands high, face and off leg w'rite, in good condition.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, February 3. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in the borough of Halifax, during the night of the 7th ultimo, the property of William Smith, Esq., Beech- hill, a cream coloured Pony, rising 5 years old, 13 hands high, a dark mark down the back and tail, and has never been shod. Information to be given to John Pearson, Superintendent of Borough Police, Town Hall, Halifax.— Bow- street, February 3. Description of JOHN HARVEY, who is charged upon a warrant with having, on the 31st December last, converted a Barometer ( of which he was a bailee) to his own use ; there are also several other cherges of a similar nature against him. He is 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout, sallow com- plexion, dark hair and whiskers turning grey, long features, and of bloated appearance ; he is a natve of Monmouthshire, where he is supposed to be following his trade of a clock and watch maker. He has been emplyed the last five years in Stafford, prior to which he was employed in the neighbourhood of Shrewsbury. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Oswell, Stafford.- Bow- street, February 8. Supposed to have been stolen, on or about the 20th ultimo, from Sindlesham, in the parish of Hurst, Berks, a black Shetland Pony, about 11 hands high, rough coat, long mane and tail, a few white hairs under the forelock, in good condition, and very wild: has lost one of the fore shoes. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent O'Neill, Berks Constabulary Station, Wokingham.— Bow- street, February 1. A warrant is issued against RICHARD ADAMS and GEORGE WILSON, both natives of Egham, Surrey, charged with stealing a Horse from Hartley- row, Hants, on the night of the 4th December last, the property of Mr. John Jones. Adams is from 30 to 34 years of age, about 5 feet 1 inch high, rather stoutly built, fair complexion, no whiskers, and dressed in light cord trousers fitting tight to his leg, plush vest with sleeves, and fustian shooting coat; steps short and quick, and carries his head down when walking. Wilson is about 26 years of age, and has also the appearance of a person accustomed to horses. Information to be given to Mr. Howard, Superinten- dent, Hants Constabulary, Aldershot.— Bow- street, February 1. Found, on the turnpike- road in the parish of Long Crendon, Bucks, on the 21st ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen, a dark brown Horse Pony, aged, about 12 hands high, in good condition, rather grey about the head : a quan tity of hair off the neck, extending nearly irom the throat to the chest, as though it had been blistered. Information to be given to Inspector W. Sargent, Constabulary Station, Brill, Bucks.— Bow- street, February 1. Stolen during the night of the 25th ultimo, from Caerfoel, in the parish of Llanfihangel- Ystrad, Cardigan, the property of Mr. J. Jordan Jones, of Hosyffin and Rhydygof, near Lampetre, auctioneer, an aged light bay cart Horse, rather long back, one hind foot white, snd about 144 hands high; an aged grey Mare, switch tail, and about 14 hands high ; a roan cart Mare, aged, about 14J hands high, and of good action ; a dark bay Mare, rising o years old, switch tail, and 15 hands high. It is suspected they have been taken away by some of their late owner's friends, whose name is EVAN RICHARDS, who together with his son RICHARD RICHARDS, late of Caer- foel, are remanded till the 6th instant at Lampeter. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent F. W. Hall, Llan- dyssul, Carmarthen, or to P. S. R. Roberts, Police Station, Lampeter- pont- Stephen.— Bow- street, February 1. Found at Charlwood, Surrey ( supposed to have been stolen), on the 10th ultimo, a dark brown Horse, 9 or 10 years old, about 144 hands high, light- brown nose, small white star on forehead, a little white on the off hind heel, and bang tail. The horse is now at the Manor Park Farm, Charlwood. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Coward, Surrey Constabulary, Reigate.— Bow- street, February 1. Supposed to have been stolen from Molland Common, North Devon, three horn wether Sheep, marked ' H. Q,.' with pitch on each side, ' H. Q,.' branded on each horn, red ' X.' across the hips, and have been powdered over the back with red powder. £ 15 reward will be paid by J. L. Dames, Esq., Treasurer of the South Molton Association for the Protection of Property, and a further sum of £ 5 by James Quartley, Esq., the owner, on conviction of the offender or offenders. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent John Wood, Devon Constabulary, South Molton, Devon.— Bow- street, February 1. Supposed to have been stolen, from a field in the parish of Chiltington, Sussex, the property of Mr. W. Botten, a grey mare Pony, aged, about 13 hands high, long switch tail, in good condition, and can be identified. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Jenner, Lewes ; to P. C. James Phipps, Chailey ; or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, February 1. Description of THOMAS HENDERSON, who is charged with sheep stealing on the 4th of November last, at Upper Murthat, near Moffat, in the county of Dumfries, and the stolen sheep, 13 in number, have since been recovered, having been sold by him in Dumfries on same day: he is known among dealers and drovers as ' Southerly Tom,' native of Dum- friesshire ; about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, ordinary make, fair lrair and whiskers, upper- eyelid of right eye hangs over the eye so as nearly to cover it, and the pupil is turned towards the right side ; dressed when last seen in a billycoctc hat, a brown grey irock or shooting coat, supposed dark drab or grey trousers, strong boots with six rows of large headed nails in sole, and heel- plates ; he was traced from Moffat into Dumfries on the 29th ultimo, and has gone south ; he frequents cattle markets, and drives cattle, and will be found in the company of drovers or dealers. Informa- tion to be given to the Chief Constable of Dumfries.— Bow- st., February 1. Absconded on the 14th ultimo, from Surbiton, Kingston, a man, 18 years of age, 5 feet 7 ins. high, sallow complexion, light hair ; dressed in blue slop, cord trousers, black cloth cap, charged with stealing a black horse Pony, 13ihands high, forehead and two or three feet white, high shoulders, and long tail .—- Metropolitan Police, V Dimsion, January 25. Stolen, between the evening of the 23rd, and morning of the 25th instant, from a field at Hungerford, in the parish of Eaton- under- Haywood, Salop, the propert}' of Mr. Craig, miller and farmer, a wether Sheep, of the Shropshire Down breed, marked ' R. Description of JOHN TWEEDIE, against whom a true bill was found by the Grand Jury at the quarter sessions held at Northallerton, in the North Riding of the county of York, on the 5th instant, for felony; he was admitted to bail, to surrender at the above sessions, but has absconded : he is 49 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, dark grey hair, fresh com- plexion, two cuts on left side of forehead, scar on both knees, mole on the right side of back,, brownish- grey whiskers cover- ing the face, no moustache, very stout and muscular, stoops a little when walking, has an extraordinary rough voice, very large hands and feet, is afflicted with asthma, and has a tooth out in front of upper jaw ; he is a native of the city of Durham, and a mason. He was last seen at Northallerton, at 8' 30p. m. on the 4th instant, in company with another mason, they said they were going south to look for work ; Tweedie may have shaved off some of his whiskers and beard, as he wore a great deal when he absconded. She has been in the habit ol travelling about the North and East Ridings of Yorkshire, in company with a man with only one arm, begging. He is about 60 years of age, o feet 7 inches high, and dressed in an old high- crowned black hat, with the crown having been taken out and sewed in, alpac& eoat with the skirts torn oft', light kersemere trousers with several dark patches on them, and old cossack boots ; he tramps the country, and is of very dirty appearance. She is supposed to have gone to London, where she has lived as a servant; and if in London, is likely to be found at Gloucester- road, South Kensington. On the 24th ultimo the dead body of a newly- born female Child was found floating in a ' lodge' at Belfield, in the township of Butterworth, wrapped in a woman's cotton chemise and a piece of blue flannel, round its neck was a piece of tape tied tight, and a large bruise on the forehead : the body was in a state of decomposition, and is supposed to have been high, sallow complexion, dark hair turning grey, grey eyes, j in the water two or three weeks. Found on the bank of the river Ouse, at Selby, on the 29th ultimo, the body of a newly- born full- grown female Child ; it was wrapped up in a common calico napkin, sewn seven or eight times across at regular intervals, and tied round with a piece of tar- band ; it had the appearance of having been in the water about a week, and was very much decomposed. An inquest has been held on the boby at Selby, and an open verdict returned. Found upon two prisoners on the 26th ultimo, when apprehended for burglary at the house of Mr. John Bird, junior, at Yaxley, and who are committed to the assizes on that charge, the following articles, supposed to have been stolen : a small silver consular Watch, with silver dial, gold figures; a silver duplex Geneva Watch, jewelled in 4 holes, enamel dial, seconds hand, engine- turned cases, maker Edward Baker, Angel- terrace, London, No. 2944, gold curb Chain, hook, and spade ace Guinea of George III, 1794, attached ; 2 gold Rings, one set with turquoise, the other sardonyx, with a ship and ' Friend ' upon it; a plated Ring, set in imitation of 29 diamonds ; the top of a large half- mourning Pin, eagle's eye, set in gold ; an Australian Bilver Coin of George IV, 1822, with crown and anchor upon it; a pearl handled Pocket Knife, with very long blade, and two small ones at the other end, one of which is broken ; a green leather Purse, with five compartments, and patent brass lock snap ; upwards of £ i in money ; and a yellow coloured leather Pocket Book, stained with ink, and four folds in it. Description of the men : JOHN BURNS, Hyde- park, London, cabinet maker and joiner, 22 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light brown hair, blue eyes, fair face, no whiskers, long features, nose slightly flattened ; dressed in dark brown felt billycock hat, paper collar, scarf, light grey witney overcoat ( velvet collar), fitting tight, a blue coat and vest, drab woollen cord trousers, light shoes with spring sides; has a mole on left forearm, is upright in person, and turns his feet out in walking. ISAAC PARISH, native of Anker- street, Manchester, silk weaver, but now of 16, Sun- street, Old Street- road, London, Hawker, 32 years of age 5 feet 9 inches high, brown hair ( very little), dark blue eyes, fresh face, little or no whiskers, coarse skin from scorbutic scars; dressed in a soft black felt billycock hat, paper collar, silk scarf, mixture coat and vest, grey witney overcoat ( velvet collar, raised seams), drab worsted cord trousers, light shoes, spring sides; he is stoutly built. Both men have the appearance of pugilists. Upon Parish was found a hawker's licence, bearing the London address, issued 27th November, 1863, available till the 31st ultimo; a bill and receipt from Messrs. Barnett, Mass, and Co., Leman- street, Whitechapel, for Looking- glass, £ 11 4s., 3rd December, 1863 ; and a prescription from R. R. World, November 26th, 1863, supposed London, which bears the stamp of ' Althorp, Chemist, Stamford, H. 155,' and is endorsed ' Mr. Skinner.' It being evident they have been to the above places, and having every implement for burglars upon them, including a dark lantern, without the slide, which is about 5 inches by 2J- inches ( may have been left behind in some house), and a fancy yellow cane heavily loaded. They are supposed to have been previously convicted, and to be wanted for other offences.
