Whenever it is desired that any person sliould Ba appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be innde and sworn to before a Magistrate, of tho Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Absconded, charged with Murder, committed on the night of the 7th or morning of the 8th ultimo, near New Arthill, Lanarkshire, JOHN REILLY, a pensioner and navvy, native of Ireland, 38 to 40 years of age, 6 feet 10 or 11 inches high, stout made, dark complexion, large coarse features, broad forehead, small eyes, black hair inclining to curl behind, no • whiskers; dresS* e<! in a sleeved moleskin vest lined with dark flannel, brown silk vest underneath much worn, blue and white cotton striped shirt, blue flannel slop, dirty moleskin trousers mended in several places ( particularly about the knees), navvy boots, small glengarry bonnet, may have a piece of dark cotton cloth round his neck, and wore a leather belt round his waist. He has two scratches under right eye, sore on back of right hand with sometimes a plaster upon it, and several old marks of wounds on left side of body : he served as a soldier in the Crimean war, and is supposed to have belonged to the 00th Rifles, lie worked as a navvy on the Galloway Railway ; on the Dalmellington lino of Railway, Ayrshire ; on the Hawick branch of Railway, Roxburghshire; and as a labourer in various parts of Lanarkshire, information to be given to James A. Dykes, Esq., Procurator- Fiscal, Hamilton ; or to Mr. Mackay, Chief Constable of the County, Hamilton, Lanarkshire.— Mow- street, January 6. FORGERY. Obtained by means of a forged cheque, on the 31st ultimo, a gold |- plate lever Watch, compensation balance, No. 11,135, maker Albion Snell. By a man and woman : the man 24 vears of age, 6 feet G inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair and whiskers; dressed in dark clothes and hat, and speaks with a foreign accent: the woman 30 years of age, 6 feet 3 inches high, rather stout, sallow complexion, dark hair; dressed in brown silk dress, grey shawl, and black bonnet.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, January 8. Further information respecting THOMAS EDWARDS charged with uttering a Forged Cheque for £ 16 15s. on the North and South Wales Bank at Bishop's Castle, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 30th ultimo. He is supposed to be 05 years of age, grey hair cut short, bald on front of head, and short grey whiskers ; he carried with him, when he left a square brown portmanteau with three_ straps, a small- black bag, a red striped rug, and an umbrella : and took a first class ticket from Minsterley Station to Shrewsbury. He stated that he had lived some years in America, and from his conversation seemed to be well acquainted with different people in Bir- mingham. Information to be given to Sergeant Scale, Bishop's Castle, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 4. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen, about 8 p. m. on the 7th instant, from the person of a gentleman, at the corner of Charles- street, Brook- street, Chorlton, near Manchester, a gold Geneva Watch, maker Veyrat, Geneva, with n gold Albert Chain attached. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent William Saynor, D Division Police Station, Chorlton Town Hall, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 11. Stolen at 9- 20 p. m. on the 6th instant, from the person of a gentleman, while in the city of Manchester, a gold full- plate double- cased gold lever Watch, enamelled dial, maker Robert Harlow, Ashbourne, No. 2040 ; had attached a gold Albert Chain and Locket. Any person giving such information as may lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the property, shall receive £ 5 reward, on application to Mr. John Gee, Superintendent of Police, A Division, Albert- street and Lower King- street, Manchester; or at any of the Police Stations in th? Stolen on the night of the 1stInst., in Manchester, from the person of a. gentleman, a silver lever Watch, No. 22,840 ; had a silver Guard attached, pieced in two places with string. Stolen from the person, pn the 24th ultimo, a large- sized gold Watch, makers Parkinson and Co., Liverpool, No. 37,449, a spring cap, four pairs of extra jewelled holes, rubies, ' G. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, in Castle- street, Carlisle, at 8 p. m. 1st instant, a small silver f- plate hunting Watch, engraved ' French, London, No. 11959,' and 20s. in Silver. Information to be given to Mr. G. E. Bent, Chief Con- stable, City Police Office, Carlisle.— Bow- street, January 6. Stolen from the person of a lady, at Bolton, on the 1st instant, a silver lever Watch, maker Agar, Bolton, No. 1208,' with silver Guard and Albert Chain attached, and a Stopper set with white stone. Information to be given to Mr. Harris, Chief Constable, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 6. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Leek Fair, on the night of the 30tli ultimo, a silver lever hunting Watch, maker's name J. Slack, Ipstones, No. 98816, the name ' John Lees' engraved inside the case. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Woollaston, Police Station, Leek ; or at any Police Station in the county of Stafford.— Bow- street, January G. Stolen from the person, on the 2nd instant, in the borough of Halifax, a £ 100 Bank of England Note, ' R I R, No. 55099, Manchester, Jan. 2nd, 18G3 ' ; a £ 50 ditto, ' U | G, No. 17704, Manchester, January 5th, 1803' ; and a £ 20 ditto, ' R | O, No. 17862, Manchester, January 6th, 1863.' £ 20 reward will be paid by John Pearson, Superintendent of Police, Halifax, to any person who will give such information as will lead to the recovery of the notes and conviction of the offender or offenders, or in proportion to the amount thereof recovered.— — Bow- street, January 4. Stolen about 4- 30 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, from the person of a gentleman, in Victoria- street, Manchester, a gold lever Watch, engine- turned cases, maker J. Jordan, Manchester, No. 71758. Any person giving such information as may lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the property, shall receive £ 2 reward, on application to Mr. John Gee, Superintendent of Police, A Division, Albert- street and Lower King- street, Manchester; or at any of the Police Stations in the city of Manchester. — Bow- street, January 1. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in the borough of Bolton, on the night of the 29th ultimo, a gold lever Watch, with double- bottomed engine- turned cases, capped and jewelled in six holes, and white enamelled dial, maker's name, Edward Wroe, Bolton, No. 45,193, engraved on the works; had attached a gold curb Albert Chain, with cross bar. Any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the watch and chain, shall receive £ 2 2s. reward, on conviction of the offender or offenders, and any expenses that may have been incurred, will be paid on application to Mr. Harris, Chief Con- stable, Borough Police Office, Bolton.— Bow- street, January 1. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. The dwelling house of Mr. Charles Rampton, watchmaker, of Alton, Hants, was broken and entered during the night of the 5th instant, and the following property stolen : 93 gold and silver Watches, English and Geneva, the greater part of them second hand ; some have the name * C. Rampton, Alton- row, Alton,' and one ' D. Angelo and Cadenazzi, Winchester'; about 30 Wedding Rings, 20 fancy Ladies' Rings, some pearl and turquoise, one having a shield device open for hair, one opal with garnet each side ; 5 gentlemen's rings, with stones, bloodstone, one white, one onyx ; 12 ladies'gold keeper Rings, one in blue enamel, with words ' In memory of'; 8 gold Albert Chains ; 3 long gold Chains ; 12 silver Albert Chains ; 14 silver guard Chains, curb pattern ; 20 gold Lockets ; 10 eold Seals ; 10 gold Keys; 10 gold Pencil Cases ; 12 silver Pencil Cases ; 2 silver Dessert Spoons ; a child's silver Spoon, Knife, and Fork, in case ; 6 odd silver Tea Spoons ; a Mustard Spoon ; a silver Fruit Knife; 24 silver Brooches, various patterns ; 6 sets of gold Studs ; 20 pairs of gold Ear- rings, of various patterns; a musical Snuff Box, playing ' Gentle Troubadour,' ' Perfect Cure,' and 1 Kiss me Quick '; 3 pairs silver Salts, one pair engraved up the handle, small; some old Silver and Gold, consisting of broken Spoons, Wedding Rings, and the Case of a Watch ; 3 dozen silver Thimbles; a pair of silver Bracelets, set with stones. The same night the house of Mr. G. Dyer was entered, and the following property stolen: a silver Tea Spoon, marked ' G. D.'; a Mustard Spoon,' D.'; a Caddie Spoon, silver Top to Mustard. Pot, Top to Pepper Castor, and an alpaca Umbrella. Some of the property Btolen from Mr. Dyer's, was left in the House of Mr. Rampton. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent H. Rossiter, Hants Constabulary, Alton.— Bow- street, January 11. Between 5 and G p. m. on the 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of Daniel Barker, at Craddock's Moss, Audley, was broken and entered, and nine Sovereigns, two half ditto, and a single barrelled Gun, with lock on the left side, maker Fenton, stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Mr. C. Williams Inspector, Silverdale, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 11.5 Stolen, by means of housebreaking, on the 5th instant, from the dwelling- house of Mrs. Caroline Wood, Hothfield, Kent, a black Shawl, much worn; a black scarf Shawl with violet flowers ; a small gold Brooch with several small purple stones ; and a pearl Brooch with figure of a dog and several small stones on glass: also, from the dwelling- house of John Amos, Chollock, Kent, seven yards of dark cotton Drill, quite new, and a guano Bag. By a man, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, small sandy whiskers, slightly pockpitted ; dressed in dark cloth cap, dirty brown coat, dark check tweed vest and trousers, and lace- up boots: has the appearance of a rag and bone collector. He offered the stolen property for sale at Faversham on the 6th instant, but did not sell it. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent D. Dewar, Kent County Constabulary, Ashford.— Bow- street, January 11. Stolen by means of housebreaking on the 6th instant, a grey cloth Coat, with pockets outside ; a pair of broad- cord Trousers, nearly new ; a pair of Wellington Boots, one has been cut up in front and sewn up again, and have been half- soled ; and a white cotton Shirt. By a man 18 or 19 years of [ age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair cut short, and dressed in the stolen clothes, having left clothing behind which he was wearing previous to the robbery. He is supposed to be making his way to Portsmouth. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Kennard, East Grinstead, Sussex.— Bow- street, January 8. A warrant lias been issued for the apprehension of JAS. GOLBY, late of Brighton, labourer, charged with breaking and entering the dwelling- house of Charles Baker, on the night of the 24th ultimo, and stealing 6 dozen Hare and Rabbit Skins: about 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, full face, grey eyes; and slightly made ; and dressed in a white slop, an old brown cuat. over it, cord trousers, and dark cloth cap, lace- up boots with brass eyelet- holes and wooden soles; he is of dirty appearance, and likely to try to get to sea or enlist. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town- liall, Brighton.— Bow- street, January 8. During the night of the 31st ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Mitchell, at Barton- on- tlie- Heath, in the county of Warwick, was broken and entered, and the following pro- perty stolen therefrom : 20 yards of shirting Calico, a pair of dark grey Trousers, a pair of strong lace- up Boots, a silver Cruet Stand, four damask Table Cloths marked ' J. E. M.,' a silver Table Spoon marked • T. E. M.,' a silver Tea Spoon marked ' R. C.,' and two flannel Petticoats with calico band. Supposed by a tramp, who was shabbily dressed in dark clothes, and wore a pair of clogs, with six large- lieaded nails on the outside of the left heel, and five on the outside of the right. It is probable he will sell or pawn the articles at some adjoining town. Information to be given to James Thompson, Super- intendent of Police, Shipton- on- Stour, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, January 4. Between the hours of 7 and 9' 30 p. m. on the 31st ultimo, the house of Mr. William Leach, of Caversham, Oxon, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen: a silver Fruit Knife, pearl handle ; two silver Table Spoons, one marked ' T. S. L.'; a silver Dessert Spoon, marked ' R. C.'; a pair of silver Salt Spoons ; a silver Mustard Spoon, gilt bowl; a silver Caddy Spoon; three old silver Tea Spoons ; a gold Ring, with stone ; a hair Ring, with gold fastening ; a pair of stone Bracelets, set in silver, with silver locket fastenings ; a pair of gold Ear Drops ; a pair of cornelian Ear Drops, set in gold ; a pair of coral Ear Drops, set in gold ; a Brooch, with red stone, set in gold; a cornelian Brooch, set in gold ; a Russia leather Purse; a Cash Bag, ' Messrs. Simonds' on it; four £ 10 Notes, two of which were endorsed ' W. H. Birch,' one endorsed ' William Leach, received of Mrs. Wakeman,' and dated 22nd October, 1863; about £ 30 in Gold ; a Post Office Order for £ l 15s. lid. ; a Cheque drawn by Mr. Tlios. Holland, for £ 117s. 2d., on Messrs. Simonds' Bank ; a Cheque for £ 5, drawn by the Guardians of the Henley Union, on Messrs. Simonds' Bank ; a Cheque for £ 2 17s. 8d., drawn by Mr. J. M. Hulbert, on the London and County Bank ; and two £ 5 Notes, Messrs. Stephens'. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Cope, Henley- on- Thames, or to P. S. Williams, Caversham, Oxon.— Bow- street, January 4. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between the hours of 6 and 9 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, from a house at Trinity College, Logiealmond, Perthshire, the following property :— twelve large and twelve small Forks, crest a boar's head; two dozen Tea Spoons ( twelve marked ' H.'); a Tea Pot, a Cream Jug, and Sugar Basin, crest a stork's head ; six Dessert Spoons ; some odd Dessert and Table Spoons, some marked ' G.' and some ' H. G.'; a large Soup Ladle, four small ditto, and a Fish Slice, with crest, a stork's head ; three sets of chil- dren's Knives, Forks, and Spoons ( two of these sets have the initials ' C. M. II.', and the other ' J. J. H.'); two Mugs, one with crest, a stork's head ; four bowl Salt Spoons, and two shovel ditto, with crest, a stork's head ; a Sugar ditto, with ' J. Hannah' engraved on it; two pair of Sugar Tongs; and two Butter Knives ( all silver). Also twelve Forks, marked ' H.'; twelve small ditto, same mark ; twelve new ditto; twelve Table Spoons, marked ' H.'; twelve Dessert Knives and Forks; and a Coffee Pot, with crest, a stork's head ( all silver- plated). Two Jews are suspected : one is about 30 years of age, nearly* 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, long nose, and dark whiskers ; the other is nbout 24 years of age, nearly 6' feet 3 inches high, dark curly hair, and dark complexion. A reward of £ 20 will be given ( one- half the reward to be given upon ( jonviction of the burglar or burglars, and the whole of the reward to be • given if the whole of the property is recovered). Information to bo given to Mr. Edmund Horan, Superintendent, Hants Con- stabulary,' Newport, Isle of Wight ; or to Sergeant Charles Mitchell, Ryde.— Bow- slreet, January 4. The dwelling- house of Mr. John Berry, of Wood End, West Lodge, in the parish of Newsham, near Thirsk, was broken and entered during the night of tlte 30th ultimo, nnd the following property stolen : three Sovereigns, one Shilling, two Penny- pieces ( new coin), a 4- lb. tin Loaf, ^ lb. of Tea wrapped up in white paper, marked ' B' aud " tied with green twine, and ohout jj lb. ot white moist Sugar in blue paper, narked ' 0.' Heel marks were found nfear the place, which / md three rows of muds in, and full three inches in width. Information to be given to Mr, George Howard, Uep. uty Chief Constable, North Hiding Police Station, Northallerton, York- shire.— Bow- street, January 1. Footprints of two persons " to and from the hall were traced, impressions of which have been taken. £ 10 reward will be paid on the conviction of the offender or offenders. During the night of the 27th ultimo, the1 dwelling- house of Mr. Samuel Carter, of Great Missenden, was broken and entered, nnd the follow ing property stolen therefrom : 8 yards of coarse Linen, 20 lbs. weight of Bacon, a metal shot and powder Flask, a brown smock Frock, a wicker Basket, " three damask Tablecloths, threo pairs of men's lace- up Qoqts, a pair of bltrcher Boots, much worn, a bh> e check cotton Handkerchief, two black billy Caps, and a' woman's brown cloth Cloak, trimmed with black velvet. Supposed by two men who were discharged from Aylesbury County Gaol on the 23rd ult.: one abont 53 yrs. of age, 6 ft. ' 3 inches' high, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, oval ' face^ a crucifix tattooed on breast; dressed in a smock frock, d$ rk trousers, billy cap, and a check Shirt, marked ' Bucks -•' TVunty Priron the other Is 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, lair complexion, browu hair, a grey patch on the left side of the head, grey eyes, aud long face : dressed in a smock frock, heavy lace- up boots, and dark trousers.
