No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to tnrward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 1863. Scottish Police. DESCRIPTION of James Christie, wanted in Edin- burgh, on a charge of child- stealing. He is about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 foet 8 or 9 inches in height, very dark and thin featured, black hair and whiskers; said to be a native of England ; wants some of his front teeth; has a sore leg. Dressed in a long tailed black coat, light coloured vest, and black hat, and Welling- ton boots, cut short. He goes about preaching, and carries a book under his arm. Description of Child. Patrick Branagan, age 2 years and 9 months, full face, white haired, dark brown eyes; has a scar on Lis throat from a bflrn. Dressed in a dark brown frock, Rob Roy tartan tippet, small cbeck, lacing boots, worn at the toes, and purpled coloured stockings. Police officers and others are requested to make particular search for the above described person and child, and if he is apprehended, or any trace of them found, to communicate with Mr. Dymock, Procurator- Fiscal, City Chambers, Edinburgh. DESCRIPTION of a mare, the property of Edmond Barry, which was stolen off the lands of Ballyorbin, parish of Carrigaline, and barony of Cork, on tbe night of the 5th instant:— A dark chestnut draught mare, 7 or 8 years old, about 14 bands high, very stout, as if in foal, marked with an old saddle gall upon tbe back, old galls on, and behind, the elbows from tbe bellyband, the hair at the setting on of the tail worn away by scratching, particularly at the left side; in good condition, and value for about £ 10. DESCRIPTION of Oliver Griffin, native of county Antrim, who stands charged with having, within the last twelve months, in the barony of Ballyboy, parish of Ballyboy, embezzled tbe sum of £ 90 sterling, the pro- perty of George Jowett:— 56 yeais of age, 5 feat 10^ inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, full face, hazel eyes, regular nose, brown gray bair; wore a black hat, gray coat, and tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; pensioner from the Constabulary Force; left cheek bone fractured. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the murder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and wounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of- Longford, and county of Longford, on the 20th April, 1862, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and are harboured, received, and concealed, and assisted and aided in several parts of the country since the said murder: Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- cealed, or assisted or aided in any way whatever in their escape from arrest, the said Patrick Ross and James Ross. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by the Resident Magistrate at Longford. DESCRIPTION of said Pat Ross and James Ross:— Patrick, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, thin face, gray eyes, sharp nose, cut on his lip, brown hair; wore a gray frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark vest; wore a jim crow hat Will try to escape to America. A dark brown horse, about 16 years old, star on forehead, short tail; and value for about £ 10. 2. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the morning of the 4th instant, John Andrew Jackson, Esq., J. P., was murdered in his own Demesne, at Mount Pleasant, in the barony of Upper Ormond, and county of Tipperary, by some person or persons at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and . bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by John Fleming, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Nenagh, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS Michael Hayes, who is charged with having murdered Mr. John Waller Braddell, on the 80th of July, 1862, in the town of Tipperary, has hitherto evaded arrest His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 300 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such' information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured or received, or concealed, or assisted, or aided in any way whatsoever, the said Michael Hayes in his escape from arrest By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above rewards will be paid by any Resident Magistrate or Officer of the Constabulary. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of age, 6 feet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, large heavy face, dark eyes, rather long nose, black, a little gray hair; wore a black frieze body coat, knee breeches, black stockings, Caroline hat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray ; bald on the crown of the head, with a few stray hairs on it; several of his front teeth out; high cheek bones and sunken jaws; and altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. He may probably assume a disguise, such as a wig, moustache, false teeth, and black coat, & c. Cappamore, 3rd August, 1862. ( B. 10071— 10283.) DESCRIPTION of five head of cattle, the property of Mr. William Carry, which were stolen from the lands of Gurteen, parish of Dorrha, barony of Lower Orraond, on the morning of the 5th October, 1863, viz.:— An old cow,' in good condition, red colour, and branded on the right horn with the letters M. C. A cow, in good condition, yellowish colour, blind of an eye, and was branded on the left horn with the letters W. C. A small red heifer ; value for about £ 6 ; was branded on the left horn with the letters W. C. Two large heifers;' value for about £ 10 each; red and white colour, and branded on the horns with the letters M. C. These two heifers were quite alike in size and colour, and seemed like twin heifers. Lorrha, 12th Oct 1863. ( B. 25901— 11688.) DESCRIPTION of a sheep, the property of John Henry Gumbleton, esq., which was stolen from the lands of Fortwilliam, parish of Lismore, barony of Coshmore and Coshbride, on the night of the 10th in- stant:— A ewe sheep, a year and a- half old, in good condition, thick fleece, colour white, branded on the left side with the letter G.; and valued for £ 2 fls. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that at the hour of 9 o'clock, on the night of the 22nd ultimo, Patrick Connor was way- laid and murdered on the public road at Carrick, in the barony of Fartullagh, and county of Westmeath, by a party of persons at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending aqd bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. And His Excellency is also pleased to offer a free pardon to any person concerned in this outrage, other than the person or persons who actually committed the murder, in case of his giving such evidence as will lead to the convictidn of the persons concerned with him in the crime.
