DUBLIN, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1863. THE Police Gazette, OR HUE- AND- CRY. Scottish Police. DESCRIPTION of James Christie, wanted in Edin- burgh, on a charge of child- stealing. He is about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches in height, very dark and tbin featured, black hair and whiskers; said to be a native ot England ; wants some ol his front teeth; has a sore leg. Dressed in a long tailed black coat, light coloured vest, and black hat, and Welling- ton boots, cut short. He goes about preaching, and carries a book under his arm. Description of Child. Patrick Branagan, age 2 years and 9 months, full face, white haired, dark brown eyes; has a scar on his throat from a burn. Dressed in a dark brown frock, Rob Roy tartan tippet, small check, lacing boots, worn at the toes, and purpled coloured stockings. Police officers and others are requested to make particular search for the above described person and child, and if he is apprehended, or any trace of them found, to communicate with Mr. Dymock, Procurator- Fiscal, City Chambers, Edinburgh. DESCRIPTION of a horse, the property of Patrick Brohan, which was stolen from the lands of Kilvoy- dane, parish of Inchicronan, barony of Bunratty Upper, on the 5th instant:— A bright bay mare, 3^ years old, has a white streak down forehead, dark round spot on the off hind thigh, small lump between hair and hoof in front of one of her hind legs, about 12 hands high ; in good condition, and value for about £ 6. R., who stands charged with having, on the 7th instant, at South Green, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Tully, violently assaulted Michael Burke by striking him with a heames, from the effects of which his life is in danger:— 60 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, dark complexion, tat face, blue eyes, tbio nose, black mixed with grey hair; wore a black frieze coat, cord trowsers, had on an old pair of strong ankle boots ; and it accompanied by his wife and two female children. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the murder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and wounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of Longford, and county of Longford, 011 the 30th April, 1882, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and are harboured, received, and concealed, and assisted and aided in several parts of the country since the said murder: Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of -£ 100 to any person or persona who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- cealed, or assisted or aided in any way whatever in their escape from arrest, the said Patrick Ross and James Ross. By His Excellency's command, .. THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, ty the Resident Magistrate at Longford. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the morning of the 4th instant, John Andrew Jackson, Esq., J. P., was murdered in his own Demesne, at Mount Pleasant, in the barony of Upper Ormond, and county of Tipperary, by some , person or persons at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. v ' v By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by John Fleming, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Ncnagh, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DUBLIN CASTLE, September 8, 1863. WHEREAS Michael Hayes, who is charged with having murdered Mr. John Waller Braddell, on the 30th of July, 1862, in the town of Tipperaiy, has hitherto evaded arrest. His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 300 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured or received, or concealed, or assisted, or aided in any way whatsoever, the said Michael Hayes in his escape from arrest. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above rewards will be paid by any Resident Magistrate or Officer of the Constabulary. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of ago, 6 feet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, large heavy face, dark eyes, rather long nose, black, a little gray hair; wore a black frieze body coat, knee breeches, black stockings, Caroline hat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray ; bald on the crown of the head, with a few stray hairs on it; several of his front teeth out; high cheek bones and sunken jaws; and altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. He may probably assume a disguise, such as a wig, moustache, false teeth, and black coat, & c. Cappamore, 3rd August, 1862. ( B. 10071— 10283.) DESCRIPTION of Patrick Shanahan, native of Tip- perary, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 7th October, 1863, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Templemore, seriously assaulted John Brere- ton, by striking him on the head with a stone, from the effects of which he at present lies- dangerously ill:— 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, fresh face, gray eyes, cocked nose, fair hair; wore a jerry hat, frieze frock coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that at the hour of 9 o'clock, oh the night of the 22nd ultimo, Patrick Connor was way- laid and murdered on the public road at Carrick,. in the barony of Fartullagh, and county of Westmeath, by a party of persons at present unknown. His Excellency, fojr the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. And His Excellency is also pleased to offer a free pardon to any person concerned in this outrage, other than the person or persons who actually committed the murder, in case of his giving such evidence as will lead to the conviction of the persons concerned with him in the crime. The above reward will be paid by George Talbot, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Mullingar, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of William Forde, native of Cool- greney, who stands charged with having, on tbo 30th Sept., 1863, in the barony of Gorey, parish of Inob, and village of Coolgreney, attempted to utter a forged cheque for the sum of 10s. 9d.:— 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, sallow face, dark brown hair, and heavy whiskers; wore a blue pilot coat, cord trowsers, and black jerry hat. This man is railway labouror. He wore strong . highlow boots; was last heard of in Arklow, and said there, " If he could not get employment that ho would enlist." Gorey, 11th Oct., 1863.
