CONTAINING The substance of all Informations received in cases of Felony, and of Misdemeanors of an aggravated nature, and against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputes Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of identity. The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may he made and addressed to MR. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. *„* Whenever it is desired that any person should he appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for tlie insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W." as they cannot be published without his authority. Stolen at 2 a. m. on the 25th instant, from the person of Mr. Driscoll, of Little James street, Bedford- row, while in a brothel, at No. If, North- place, Argyle- square, a double case gold Watch with Chain attached. By a prostitute, 28 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair hair and complexion, dressed in light clothes.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, July 29. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the 3rd ultimo, a young woman absconded from Gloucester, leaving her infant child, 14 days old, which she had before refused the breast, and otherwise neglected, in the charge of a person with whom she lodged; the child, from want of nourishment and attention, died on the 7th ultimo; an inquest has since been held, and the jury returned a verdict of < Manslaughter' against CLARA HEPBURN, otherwise JANE HEBORN, the mother of the child, and the coroner thereupon issued his warrant for her apprehension. She is about 20 or 22 years of age, middle height and stature, rather full face, fail- complexion, rather thick lips, and dark brown hair, combed plain down the side of face ; dressed in a straw bonnet, with a bunch of flowers over the right temple, dark mantle or cloak, light dress, or a snuff- coloured plaid, and had with her a small umbrella or parasol: had the appearance of a respectable country servant girl. While in Gloucester she received a post- office order, on the 2nd ultimo, from a person giving her name Emily Luff, and the order was obtained at the Post Office, Grove- terrace, Bayswater, London, and it is suspected that this young woman is staying somewhere in that neighbourhood. Information to be given to Mr. Griffin, Superintendent of Police, Gloucester, who holds a warrant for her apprehension. — Bow- street, August 3. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING On the night of the 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Lane, of Clerkenleap Farm, Kempsey, near Wor- cester, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therefrom:— 5 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' L.' 2 ditto Table Spoons ditto ' I. L.' 1 ditto Gravy Spoon ditto ' I. L.' 1 ditto Knife ditto < S. H.' 4 plated Tea Spoons, 24 plated Dessert Forks, 2 plated Salt Spoons, 1 plated pair of Sugar Tongs, 1 plated pair of Snuffers and Tray, all marked ' I. L.' 1 plated Pickle Fork. 5 plated Knife Rests. 1 small French Time- piece. Supposed by Tramps. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent James Phillips, County Police Station, Worcester. — Bow- street, August 5. Between the hours of 9- 30 p. m. 1st and 6' 30 a. m. the 2nd instant, the shop of Messrs. Hill and Price, Broad Quay, Bristol, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a ship's Chronometer in mahogany case, bound with brass, No. 2623, maker John Poole, Fenchureh- street, London ; an Holosterie Barometer with open face, in black case, the initials ' H. P. B. N.' on case and hack ; a small Microscope in mahogany case, with three small Powers about 5 feet long, 3J ins. wide, and 2 d- y f, and a pair of silver frame Spectacles in a green leather case, engraved ' . T. P.' or ' J. Parrott,' and a common plated single Eye- Glass. Information to be given to the Chief Superintendent of Police, Bristol.— Bow- street, August 5. Stolen from the dwelling- house of the Rev. J. Poulter, hy means of housebreaking, on the morning of the 2nd inst,., at Wellingborough, a lady's gold Watch, chased, maker's name French, London, No. 9007, a gold fancy guard Chain and Key attached ; three Sovereigns, and an Half- crown. Supposed hy a man of the following description, who was seen near the house previous to the robbery ; about 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown whiskers meeting under the chin ; dressed very respectably in a suit of black cloth, and black hat, and carried an umbrella. Information to be given to Mr Superintendent C. Chambers, Chief Constable's Office, Northampton, or to Inspector John Jeffs, Police Station, Wellingborough.— Bow- street, August 5. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of Hugh Young, at Poultal- cum- Spital, Cheshire, on the 2nd instant, a silver Wateh, No. 4391, silver dial, one pair extra jewelled, and gold balance, maker's name Thomas W. Howard, Liverpool. Information to be given to Mr. Thomas Hammond, Superintendent of County Police, Abbey- street, Birkenhead.— Bow- street, Auqust, 5. Stolen from the person of a lady, on the 3rd instant, on the platform of the Great Northern Railway Company, at Doncaster, a large gold lever Watch, engine- turned, gold face and figures, maker's name, French, Royal Exchange, London. Information to be given to Superintendent J. Gregory, Don- caster.— Bow- street, Auqust 5. Further information respecting the Watch, No. 21687, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 27th ultimo, as having heen stolen from the person of a gentleman, at the Shrub Hill Railway Station, Worcester : the monogram on the case is formed of the letters 1 J. E.' not ' R. E.' Information to be given to the City of Worcester Police.— Bow- street, August 5. Stolen 27th instant, about 10' 45 p. m., from the person of Edward Brown, of No. 3, St. David- street, Newington, whilst in the booking- office, Crystal Palace Railway, London Bridge, a silver lever Watch, maker Massey, Strand, No. 3541.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, July 31. Stolen from the person of Benj. Street, whilst in a crowd on the Long Causeway, in the borough of Dewsbury, a silver verge Watch, maker's name T. Wood, London, No. 3114, small crack in centre of dial, pointing to the figure 1, single case, and much worn. Informasion to be given to Mr. John Thomas, Superintendent of Police, Dewsbury, Yorkshire.— Brno- street, July 31. Stolen about 6 p. m. on the 24th instant, from the person of a gentleman in Windmill- street, Manchester, a gold lever Watch, gold dial, engine turned, makers James and Andrew Kelly, No. 1275, a gold Guard, secret link pattern, attached. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, on application to Mr. John Gee, the Superintendent A Division, Albert- street, and Lower King- st., or any Police Station in the city of Manchester.— Bow- street, July 29. Further information respecting the housebreaking at the shop of Mr. Roberts, of Malpas, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 2nd instant. Also stolen eighteen Table Knives and Forks, with black handles; eighteen Dessert Knives and Forks, with black handles ; eighteen Table Knives and Forks, with brown handles; about three dozen Pocket Knives, different sorts ; two dozen Scissors ; half- dozen Pocket Combs ; one dozen Tea Spoons, nickel silver ; two dozen Table Spoons, two dozen smaller ditto. By a man, short and stout, hail- cut short; dressed in a brown jacket and c p. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent H. Foster, County Police, Malpas, Cheshire.— Bow- street, August 5. Between 10 p. m. on the 2nd and 5 a. m. on the 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of Robert Tate, fn the parish of Brompton, in the North Riding of Yorkshire was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom: a fustian Vest with sleeves, lined with swansdown, greasy in front, hole in corner of light side ; a grey Cape with three Tabs, lined with drab ; a pair of Boots, lace up the front; a grey Coat and pair of Trousers, nearly new ; a black Vest; a pair of light Boots with brass eyelet- holes ; a pail- of old strong Boots ; three cotton Shirts, marked ' L. B.'; a canvas Bag, marked ' Leonard Bell'; a dark Vest with red spots, rather faded; a large Slop with a cover for the head an! wire netting for the face, used for taking bees; a small Basket with round ends and a new handle ; a boy's black cloth Ckp ; a scarlet Scarf; a l- abhit Pie ; and seven pieces of Cake. Information to be given to Inspector John Richardson, East Ayton; or to Mr. Superintendent Jonas Pickering, North Riding Constabulary, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 5. Between 11 p. m. on the 3rd, and 5- 30 a. m. on the 4th instant, the dwelling- house of Thomas Jagger, traveller, Yew- tree- terrace, Gorton, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz.: a gentleman's Overcoat, made of strong cloth, of a steel blue colour, with velvet collar, horn buttons, one of which is wanting at the top on the right side, has a pocket in each lap behind, one outside left breast, and a ticket pocket on the right side, which has been torn and stitched up; a reversible worsted Table Cover, blue and gold on one side, and brown and gold on the other ; a ditto ditto, magenta and brown, with green border; a linen Table Cover, bird pattern, red and blue ; and a grey linen diaper Table Cover, far worn. Also, between 1 and 4 p. m. on the 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of John Pattison, lodge keeper and gardener, at Langley House, Prestwich, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz.: a black cloth Over- coat, with pockets behind, one inside left breast, and bound with black braid ; a light blue frock Coat, pockets behind, one inside left breast, and lined with black silk; a black cloth dress Coat, pockets behind, and black lining— all old- fashioned ; a grey Vest, single- breasted, with a watch- pocket in left breast, and black lining; a black cloth flowered Vest, lined inside pockets with black leather ; and three white Tablecloths, marked ' D. P.' in one corner with ink. Information to be given to the Superintendent of the County Police, Old Trafford, near Manchester.— Bow- street, Auqust 5. Between 10 a. m. and 8 p. m. on the 18th ultimo the dwelling- house of Samuel Kinsey, of Fronfelin Lodge, Mont- gomeryshire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a brown velvet Jacket, pockets in the skirts and one in left breast; a brown velvet Waistcoat, dark jean back and sleeves, nearly new, buttons up to chin ; an old black Topcoat; a pair of Boots; a pair of brass Candle- sticks ; a Clothes Brush ; and about £ 1 in silver. Two tramps, of th - following description have been apprehended and com- mitted for trial at the next quarter sessions for the offence: JOHN SHEPHERD, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark brown hair, marked with anchor and ' A. B.' on right arm and anchor on right hand ; dressed in a grey jacket, old militia trousers, and black cloth cap : he was convicted at the quarter sessions at Welshpool in October last. JOHN HEALEY, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark brown hair, sallow complexion marked with cross and ring on left arm ; dressed in an ola black velvet jacket, cord trousers, clogs, and light cap : he was convicted at the quarter sessions in January last at Presteign, Radnorshire ; and both prisoners were again committed for trial at the assizes held at Newtown in July, and acquitted. The property is still missing, excepting the pair of boots, which were exchanged by them to a person the same evening near Newtown. They are supposed to have committed offences elsewhere. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown ; or to P. C. John Pearson, Caersws, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, August 3. Descrip tion of three men suspected of having committed a burglary at Pontesbury on the night of the 27th . ultimo. One is about o feet 7 or 8 inch- os high, from 35 to 40 years of age, dark complexion and hair, and supposed to be dressed in a dark pilot monkey jacket, dirty light cord trousers, and dark eap or deerstalker hat ; one is about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark- brown complexion and hair, and dressed in a moleskin sleeved waistcoat and trousers, and brown wideawake hat, has the appearance of an Irishman, about 25 to 30 years of age ; and the other is about 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, nearly 17 oi- ls years of age, fair complexion and hair, and dressed in a dirty white slop, cord trousers, and dark cap or deerstalker hat. They were seen about the village the night previous to the burglary, aud are supposed to belong to a gang who are qoing about the country robbing public- houses and shops, as they go from one public- house to another asking what sort of business the others are doing. They were traced in the direction of Oswes- try. Information to be given to Detective Sergeant Dovey, County Constabulary, Shrewsbury ; or to Sergeant E. Jones, Minsterley, Salop.— Bow- street, August 3. Stolen by means of housebreaking, during the morning of the 2nd instant, from Mr. Roberts, grocer, ironmonger, & c., about two dozen Table Knives and Forks ; one dozen Knives and Forks of a smaller size, with black handles ; a quantity of Pocket Knives of different sorts ; one dozen Table Spoons, and one dozen smaller size ditto, Britannia metal. Information to be given to Sergeant A. Foster, County Constabulary Station, Malpas, Cheshire.— Bow- street, August 3. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on the 27th instant, from Dalton, near Thirsk, Yorkshire, a silver double- eased verge Wateh, No. 80468, maker's name, Sidney Raper, Thirsk, the catch of outer case is much worn, and comes loose, the property of John Jaques, labourer. Two tramps are in custody, but the watch is still missing Information to be given to Inspector Thomas Smith, North Riding Constabulary, Thirsk, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 31. Between 11 a. m. and 2' 30 p. m. on the 28th instant, the dwelling- house of John Lees, of Huntingdon, in the county of Stafford, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz.: a black cloth Coat, Vest, and Trousers ; two white calico Shirts, with linen fronts; and a pocket Knife with bone handle. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Oswell, Guildhall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 31. Between the hours of 10 p. m. on the 28th, and 6 a. m. on the 29th instant, the dwelling- house and shop of Samuel Grice, tailor and draper, of Davenham, in the county of Chester, was burglariously broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz.: a black cloth Coat, with velvet collar, two light tweed Coats, two pairs of light tweed Trousers, two pairs of dark tweed Trousers, a blue cloth Coat, loose make, twelve pairs of blue cotton Stockings, a pair of tailor's Scissors, two black cloth Caps, a pair of new Blucher Boots, and between 4s. and 5s. in Copper from the drawer. Description of two tramps who were seen loitering about the village on the night of the burglary, and who are suspected, viz.: one, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slight made, swarthy complexion, whisker beginning to grow after being shaved off, and very short brown hair; dressed in a long loose light- coloured overcoat, dark trousers, and cap : the other about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, rather round shouldered, fresh complexion, no whiskers, and very short brown hair; dressed in black frock coat, dark trousers, and cap. Informa- tion to he given to Mr. William Blake, Superintendent of Police, Middlewich, Cheshire.— Bow- street, July 31. Between 10 and 12 a. m. on the 16th instant the dwelling- house of Mr. T. Summerbell, farmer, of Bogle Hole, in the parish of Lanchester, Durham, was broken and entered, and a 2 " POLICE GAZETTE. August 7. Sovereign, a Shilling, and three small leather Purses with ! the back part of the left ear, a hole in the right ear, and branded steel clasps stalen therefrom. Two men, of the following 1 as above; twelve Cheviot Tups, two nips out of the fore part description, are suspected : one, about 27 years of age,' 5 feet 1 of the right ear, some of them had not been marked in the ears, 10 incites high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers ; dressed in black cap, coat and vest, dark trousers, and red muffler: the other, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, proportionate figure, dark complexion, dark brown or ginger hair, no whiskers, thin face, pockpitted, slight halt or lameness of one leg ; dressed in black cloth cap, vest, and trousers. It is supposed they will be hawking nuts in some of the towns in Durham or Northumberland, as the tallest man carried a nut basket, and they had in their possession a box and dice and a pack of cards. Between 10' 30 and 12 a. m. on the 26th instant, the dwel- ling- house of Mr. R. N. Taylor, Raglan- place, Ashford, Kent, was broken and entered by the front door, with a false key, and the following property stolen therefrom : 1 gold Ring set with pearl, containing rubies. 1 hair Ring with gold plate, ' T.' engraved in centre. 1 plain gold Ring. 1 black jet Ring, lined with gold. 1 gold Ring, divided into three parts with pearls and blue stones. 1 Topaz, set round with gold. 1 piece of gold Chain, about 2 inches long. 2 gold Watch Hooks, one a twisted snake, the other plain. 1 gold Locket, broken, containing hair at hack. 1 square Brooch, set with pearls, gold back. 1 oval cornelian Brooch, set with Pearls, stone out. 1 silver Gravy Spoon, ' T.' engraved on handle. 1 ditto Soup Ladle, ditto. 4 ditto Table Spoons, ditto. 1 ditto pair of Sugar Tongs, ditto. 2 ditto Salt Spoons, ditto. 1 ditto Mustard Spoon, ditto. 1 electro- pl'ted Dessert Spoon, ditto. 2 or 3 gold Rings, one set with rubies. 1 dark morocco Portemonnaie and 1 new Cent- piece. Information to be given to Mr. D. Dewar, Superintendent, Kent County Constabulary, Ashford.— Bow- street, July 31. Between 4 and 5 p. m. on the 28th instant, the dwelling- house of Ely Jowett, at Shelf, in the West Riding of York- shire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz.: a black Shawl with silk fringe, a brown mixture Sack Coat, a single- breasted black cloth. Vest with roll collar, a pair of black cloth Trousers, a yellow silk Hand- kerchief, and a red ditto with white spots. A man of the fol- lowing description - was seen loitering about the premises, and is suspected of having committed the robbery : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair and whiskers, and dressed in a Scotch cap, and mixture clothes torn behind. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Henry Wardle, West Riding Constabulary, Halifax, York- shire.-— Bow- street, July 31. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING*. Supposed to have been stolen, on the 30th ultimo, from Wirswall, near Whitchurch, an ewe Sheep, and a tup Lamb, of the Shropshire Down breed, the lamb has a bit cut out of the right ear, and both marked with ' P. J.' on the off side ; tbe property of Parry Jones, Esq., Marbury Hayes. Information to be given w Superintendent Larch, Nantwich, or to P. C. Joseph Seddon, Police Station, Marbury, Cheshire.— Bow- street, 15. neither had they any Keel mark upon them ; and sixty Cheviot Hogs, with two nips out of the back part of left ear, hole through left ear, and branded as above, fifty- one of them marked with red keel on left side. Information to be given to William Ross, Esq., Procurator Fiscal, Stornoway ; to Mr. Gumming, Chief Constable of Ross, Dingwall; or to William Mackenzie, Sergeant of Police for the Lewis, Stornoway.— Bow- street, July 31. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in the parish of Frensham, Surrey, the property of Mr. James Baker, a dark bay Mare, about 15 hands high, 5 years old, near fore and hind foot contracted, never shod. £ 1 reward will be paid on recovery of the mare, but if stolen £ 10 will be paid on the recovery of the same, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent J. Murtell, Surrey Constabulary, Farnham.— Bow- street, July 31. Supposed to have been stolen from a meadow at Calmore, in the parish of Eling, on the night of the 28th instant, the property of Mr. Stephen Andrews, a black mare Pony, about 11 hands high, 3 years old, ofie of the hind feet white, rather long tail, rough mane, and appears to be in foal. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Martin, Hants Constabulary, Station, Lyndhurst, or to Sergeant William White, Totton, near Southampton.— Bow- st., July 31. Supposed to have been stolen, since the 23rd instant, front. May- hill, in the parish of Longhope, Gloucestershire, the property of Mr. Henry Davis, a brown mare Pony, 3 years old, 13. J hands high, slender make, diamond with star in centre burnt in right shoulder, tail cut a little above the hocks, and in good condition. All reasonable expenses will he paid on recovery of the pony by the owner ; and if stolen, a reward of £ 3 will be given on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the pony. Information to be given to Sergeant Chandler, Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, July 31. Supposed to have been stolen from Hartlebury- common, since the 30th ultimo, a mare Donkey, aged, and a male Foal about 2 months old : she is dark brown, with white belly and nose, large size, well made, and in good condition, the hair is knocked off her hind fetlocks from kicking. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent William Staunton, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, August 5. The two Cart Horses advertised in the Police Gazette of the 3rd instant, as supposed stolen from the parish of Wartling, Sussex, has been found and restored to the owner.— Bow- street, August 5. Supposed to have been stolen, from West Lodge, Iwerne Minster, within the last week, three cross- bred Irish Ewes, and one Lamb, neither of them marked ; the lamb is one of a twin. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Richard Hare, Dorset Constabulary, Shaftesbury.— Bow- street, August 3. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 30th ultimo, from a field at Ackworth, the property of William Peel, Esq, Ackworth Park, near Pontefract : a Lincoln Wether marked with the letter ' P .' on the left side with pitch. In- formation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hall, Sessions House, Pontefract, York.— Bow- street,, August 3. Stolen from a field at Pool Quay, during the night of the 28th ultimo, a black Ewe Lamb, with mottled face, weighing 9 lbs. per quarter, having the letter ' J.' in pitch on the rump. Information to be given to P. C. Thomas, Guilsfield, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, August 3. Supposed to have been stolen, from Langdale Moor, York- shire, between the 19th ultimo and the 10th instant, the property of Mr. Matthew Shaw, of Wykeham, twelve moor Sheep, marked, forked on near ear, and under- halfed on the far ear, the letters ' J. S.' burnt on each horn. Information to be given to Mr. John Jonas, Superintendent, North Riding Con- stabulary, Pickering ; or to Inspector J. Richardson, Ayton, Scarborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 31. Description of a man giving his name JAMES WILSON, and stated that he was a betting man at races, and resided at Norwich, who was convicted on the 31st ultimo by the borough magistrates for picking a gentleman's pocket at the Great Northern Railway Station, Boston, on the previous day, and sentenced to six months' hard labour in the House of Correction at Spalding. The name Wilson is supposed to be an alias, and from his manner and appearance there is no doubt he has com- mitted offences elsewhere. Description of MATTHEW SHAWCROSS McCLEL LAND, a tramp and ticket- of- leave man, who was committed on the 4th instant for seven days at Usk, for vagrancy. He is 38 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches'high, slight figure, dark com- plexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes, scar on left cheek, blue speck under left eye, slightly freckled, nose broken, and inclines to stoop; dressed in a dark woollen cord jacket, shepherd's plaid double- breasted waistcoat, dirty fustian trousers, black glazed cap, nailed cossack boots, very dirty white shirt, and black silk neckerchief. Found in his possession and supposed to have been stolen, a small black Travelling Bag, nearly new, containing a Razor Box with two white- bandied Razors, a Razor Strop, a Pruning Knife, a Hymn Book, a Pocket Comb, and two Handkerchiefs ( one with red border and picture in centre of the New Scholar, the other a brown and white plaid not hemmed). Description of two men committed for trial on the 30th ultimo, at Stonehouse for- arson at Pennycross,- near Plymouth. JOHN TAYLOR, a native of Bradfield, Yorkshire, 33 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches h gh, dark hair, blue eyes, and dressed in a dark suit and cap ; and WILLIAM HOLCROFT, a native of Barnsley, Yorkshire, about 27 years of age, 51 feet 6 inches high, light brown hair with whiskers under the chin, blue eyes,- heavy nailed boots, dark coat and cap, and light check trousers.
