All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and Cry, are to he transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary ( the words Hue- and- Cry to bo written on the left hand corner of tho Envelope). No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, AUGUST 4, 1863. Scottish Tolice. ABSCONDED from Edinburgh, on the 27th July, 1863, charged with thelt:— George Gregory, a private soldier and officer's servant in the 92nd Highlanders. He is a native of the parish ot Worsley, Lancaster. About 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair, very pale complexion, slightly pock pitted, and clean shaved. Dressed, when he left, in a pair of gray trowsers, a dark Oxford gray cloth coat and vest, trimmed with braid, and a hat or cap. He is a good scholar, and speaks correctly. Description of property stolen :— Three £ 5 Bank of Scotland notes, each dated 15th October, 1860, and having one of the following numbers, B 150- 90, C232- 7, C 224- 98, C 201- 27 ; a patent lever gold watch, with gold dial, four figures in the number, commencing with seventy, maker's name, W. , had attached a plain gold chain, serpent pattern, with two gold lockets, with the portrait of a lady in each, double backs; a gold watch key and a sky blue enamelled gold finger ring, with a large pearl set in it; four gold pins, one of them with a shield shaped head, with a pearl in centre; one with a clenched coral hand holding a gold dagger ; one with an ouyx stone and a pearl in centre; and the other circular shaped, with turquoises set in it, slightly crushed on one side; a set of oval shaped gold studs, with a buckle round the edges, and two large sized gold collar studs, one of them flat, with the initials C. J. M. on it; the other has a broad stalk and narrow top, slightly damaged. Police officers and others are requested to make par- ticular search for the above described person and pro- perty ; and if he is apprehended or any of the articles are traced, to communicate with Mr. Lothian, Procura- tor- Fiscal, County Buildings, Edinburgh. DESCRIPTION of Patrick M'Donogh, native of Ennistymon, who stands chargcd with having, on the 26th day of July instant, in tho barony of Corcomroe, parish of Kilmacreehy, seriously assaulted Nicholas Meade, with stones, so as to endanger his lite:— 24 years of ago, 5 feet inches high, slight make, fair complexion, freckled face, gray eyes, short no e, sandy hair; wore a cloth cap, brown tweed frock coat, dark tweed trowsers, dark tweed \ ost. DESCRIPTION of an ass, the property of John Costello, which was stolen from his pasture field on the lands of Lisheenaclara, parish of Kilteskill, barony of Loughrea, and county of Galway, on the night of the 22nd, or early on the morning the 23rd instant:— A black mare ass, in foal, six years old, the hair partly stripped off her hips, tail, and part of the back by the car, a piece out of tbe inside of the boof ot left fore hoof, white about the mouth, up to nearly half the head; and value for £ 1 10s. The owner who has sworn an information in this case, will give 5s. reward for the recovery of tho ass and prosecution ot the thief or thieves to conviction. Marblehill, 30th July, 1863. Limerick. DUBLIN CASTLE, February 21,1863. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of the 17th instant, Mr. John Cussen was fired at and wounded at his residence at Ballyfokeen, in the barony of Connelloe, in the county of Limerick, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrator of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son who shall, within six months from the date here- of, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person who committed the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by the Resident Magistrate at Bruff to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the murder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and wounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of Longford, and county of Longford, on the 20th April, 1862, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and are harboured, received, and concealed, and assisted and aided in several parts of the country since the said murder: Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- cealed, or assisted or aided in any way whatever in their escape from arrest, the said Patrick Ross and • James Ross. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by the Resident Magistrate at Longford. DESCRIPTION of said Pat Ross and James Ross:— Patrick, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, thin face, gray eyes, sharp nose, cut on his lip, brown hair; wore a gray frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark vest; wore a jim crow hat. Will try to escape to America. James, 25 years i f age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, dark complexion, thin face, gray eyes, regular nose, black hair; wore a dark frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; wore an old dark cloth cap. DESCRIPTION of Susan Hollis, native of Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 30th July, 1S63, in the barony of Monaghan, parisL of Monaghan, in her possession a cow, which was fcloujously taken from the lands of Mullaghadun, the property of Anne Hughes :— 28 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, slight make, fair complexion, contracted faec, gray eyes, brown hair; wore a stamped muslin dress, flounced, brown straw bonnet; pockmarked. Mark of an old sore or burn on the left cheek. Left hand very much contracted ; was seen taking train on 30th at Clones. Supposed to pjuko her way to Liver- poo). Warrant is issued for her arrest. Description of tho cow. A red yellow stripper, about seven years old, turned in horns, low sizo, with white stripe along the back ; in good condition, and value for about £ 7. DESCRIPTION of three heifers, tho property of Jane Keenan, of Killanure, which were stolen from the lands of Killanure, parish of Offerlane, barony of Upperwoods, on the night of 30th July, 1863:— 1. Four years old, red colour, white spot on the bottom of tail; 2. three years old, red colour, white back, and star on forehead ; 3. three years old, whi'e colour, with red spots round the neck. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the morning of the 4th instant, John Andrew Jackson, Esq., J. L , was murdered in his own Demesne, at Mount Pleasant, in the barony of Upper Ormond, and county of Tipperary, by some person or persor. s at present unknpwn. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of XI00 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or pefspns who com- mitted the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by John Fleming, Esq., the Resident Magistrate af Nenagh, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DUBLIN CASTLE, February 24, 1863. WHEREAS Michael Hayes, who is charged with having murdered Mr. John Waller Braddell, on the 30th of July, 1862, in the tpwn of Tipperary, has hitherto evaded arrest. His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of J300 to any person or persons who shall, withiu six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months fronj the dt^ te hereof, give such information as shall lea4 to the prpgpt of any one whomsoever who has, since < Jie sai<| murder, knowingly harboured or received, or concealed, or assisted, or aided in any way whatsoever, the said Michael Hayes in his escape from arrest. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above rewards will be paid by any Resident Magistrate or Officer of the Constabulary. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of age, 6 feet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, large heavy face, dark eyes, rather long nose, black, a little gray hair; wore a black friezo body coat, knee breeches, black stockings, oaroliue hat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray } bald on the crown of the head, with £ few stray hairs on it; several of his front teeth out; high cheek bones and sunken jaws j and altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. Deserters from Her Majesty's Service, [ Ireland.] X On and after this date ( Dec. 11, 1857), until further notice, the Reward given by the War Office for the Apprehension of a Deserter will be TWENTY SHILLINGS instead of TEN SHILLINGS; the object being to prevent the crime of Desertion, and to hold out a greater inducement for the recovery of Deserters to Her Majesty's Service.
