W HiS< Gazette, OB ' Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. _ All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary ( the words Huo- ard- Cry to be written on the left hand corner of the Envelope). No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 1863. Scottish Police. STOLEN from premises in this city, on the 24th March, 1863, a chased silver sugar bowl, with the letters D. 14. C. H. stamped on tbe bottom, and a parcel of 16 filled long shawls or plaids, with black centres, best quality, by Charles Metz, who occupied the premises, and received tho above property as an agent lot a London Parcel Delivery Company, aud who was last seen in Edinburgh on the 30th ult. Me is by trade a dyer, is about 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches in height, sallow comp'exion, roman nose, dark brown eyes, and black hair, is by birth a German, but baH not a foreign accent, having been brought up in Manchester, where he resided tor several years; was dressed in a blue cloth short coat, light trowsers and vest, and black bat. Police Officers and others are requested to make particular search for the ahovo property and person, end if any of the articles are traced, or he is appre- hended, to communicate with tho Procurator- Fiscal, City Chambers, Edinburgh. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of 5 o'clock, on the afternoon of the 3rd of June, 1862, William J. H. Moreland, Esq., was fired at on the public road at Poulagour, in the barony of Tulla Upper, and county of Clare, by some person at pres .. it unknown. •> His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. DESCRIPTION of Wilson Heley, native of county Meatb, or Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the llth instant, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Mallow, embezzled the sum o! £ 30, tho property of the Great Southern and Western Railway Com- pany:— 24 years ot age, 5 feet 7 inches huh, slight make, fair complexion, thin face, freckled, blue eyes, regular nose, sandy hair; wore a black silk hat, black cloth bag coat, light trowsers, light vest; respectable appearance and good address; was last seen on the 13th instant, in the city ot Dublin. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Coleman, native of Mitchels- town, who stands charged with having, on or about tho 7th of March, 1863, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Fermoy, feloniously stolen a gray mare donkey, car, and tackling, together with a quantity of wearing apparel, & c., the property of John Halloran, a dealing man ; all value for about £ 4 10s.: — 40 years of age, 5 feet 7- J- inches high, slender make, yellow complexion, full face, dark eyes, regular nose, black hair; wore a jerry hat, dark brown coat, whi'e moleskin trowsers, light cord vest. This man generally visits fairs and race^ in tho capacity of a gambler, and is sfongly suspected of being a coiner, particularly in making shillings and sixpenny pieces of old date. Description ot the property:— A gray mare donkey, a car and tackling, two cotton dresses, one of them a plaid, one pair of laced boots, a white moleskin trowsers, and corduroy trowsers, five V Donegal. DESCRIPTION of a heifer, the property of John Mul- ligan, which was stolen from out of his cow- house on the lauds of Curraghy, parish of Clones, barony of Clonkelly, on the night of 10th, or morning of tbe llth day of April, 1863:— Red colour, 5 years old, in calf, has some spots of white, is short horned; has a lump on tbe left knee, and is value for £ 7. DESCRIPTION of John Conneely, native of Moycul- len, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 12th April, 1863, in tbe barony of Clare, parish of Lackagh, absconded from the house of William Tarpy, of Cloughawn, taking with him a pair of shoes, a cord trowsars, a frieze frock coat, cloth cap, and 7s. 6d. in silver, Tarpy's property :— 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight make, fresh complexion, thin face, grey eyes, cocked nose, no whiskers, dark bair; wore a cloth cap, friezo frock coat, cord trow » - ers, brown vest, with black sleeves. It is supposed that he is wearing tbe articles stolen, with the exception of the vest. There is a warrant for his arrest in the bands of the Lough George Constabulary. Headford, 15th April, 1863. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of the 17th instant, Mr. Johp Cussen was fired at and wounded at his residence at Ballyfokeen, in the barony of Connelloe, in the county of Limerick, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrator of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a, reward of £ 100 to any per- son who shall, within six months from the date here- ofgive such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person who committed the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by R. J. Grace Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Bruff to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the murder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and wounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of Longford, pnd county of Longford, on the 20th April, 1862, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and are harboured, received,^ and concealed, and assisted and aided in several parts of the country since the said murder: Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- cealed, or assisted or aided in any way whatever in their escape from arrest, the said Patrick Ross and James Ross. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by R. A. O'Donnell, Esq., Resident Magistrate at Long- ford. DESCRIPTION of John Kennedy, alias Johnston, native of Meath, near Navan, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 9th instant, in* the barony of Monaghan, parish of Monaghan, stolen a mare, the property ot Jane Gillanders, out of her stable on the lands of Ballymacforban, in the district of Monaghan : 45 years of t. ge, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout make, dark complexion, regular face, gray eyes, regular nose, dark hair; wore a dark coarse frock coat, dark cord trow- sers, brown vest. Had on Blucher boots, round jim- crow hat; speaks broad; has lately been in Monaghan Gaol for fowl stealing. Is lame of right leg. A war- rant is in the hands of the police at Monaghan for his arrest. Description of the mare. A light hay mare, rising six yeats old, near hind foot white, a white saddle mark on off side of her back, about fifteen hands high, coarse head, very heavy make ; both shoulders marked by the harness, and value for about £ 10. WHEREAS Michael Hayes, who is charged with having murdered Mr. John Waller Braddell, on the 30th of July, 1862, in the town of Tipperary, has hitherto evaded arrest His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 300 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured or received, or concealed, or assisted,, or aided in any way whatsoever, the said Michael Hayes in his escape from arrest. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above rewards will be paid by any Resident Magistrate or Officer of the Constabulary. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of age, 6 feet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, large heavy face, dark eyes, rather long nose, black, a little gray hair; wore a black frieze body coat, knee breeches, black stockings, Caroline bat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray ; bald on the crown of the head, with a few stray hairs on it; several of his front teeth out} high cheek bones and sunken jaws; and altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. He may probably assume a disguise, such as a wig, moustache, false teeth, and black coat, & c. Cappamore, 3rd August, 1862. ( B. 1G071— 10283.) DESCRIPTION of Michael Ryan, native of Kilconnel, who stands charged with having, on the 29th day of March, 1863, in the barony of Middlethird, parish of St. John Baptist, effected his escape from the bridewell at Cashel, having been committed for cow stealing: — 27 years of age, 5 feet 6£ inches high, stout make, pale but clear complexion, fresh face, brown eyes, regular nose, rather turned up at poiot; dark brown hair, wo. e an old Mack jerry hat, a railway cord jacket, cord trowsers, flannel vest; good forehead ; flat, remark- able leet; very round shoulders; when viewed from behind, his neck appears short; smart- looking and intel- ligent; served four years in the Tipperary Artillery; will probably change hi? clothes, and will endeavour to emigrate to America. The Hon. Mr. French, R. M., will give £ 5 for such information as will lead to his arrest. Cornelius Bolan has been arrested. Cashel, 29th March, 1863. ( B. J8193— 11355.) Tyrone. DESCRIPTION of six sheep and one lamb, the pro- perty of John Cohen, which were stolen off the lands ot Barnastook, parish of Ardmore, and barony of decies- within- Drum, on the night of the 10th April, 1803:— Four white ewe sheep, one of which had a black lamb one month old ; one white wether sheep, and one white ram ( lame). There was a tar mark on the torehead and tail of each. They were in good con- dition, and value for £ 9 or £ 10. Clashmore, 14th April, 1863.
