All Notices intended for insertion in the Hne- and Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary ( the words Hue- and- Cry to be written on the left hand corner of the Envelope). No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, o. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Nop> e can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 1863. English Police. STOLEN OO the 28th March last, between the hours of 8 a. m. and 4 p. m., from the hquse of Mr. Joseph Nixon, of Bowe, near Carlisle, in the county of Cum- berland, the following articles vi « .:— a gold English lever watch, gold dial, No. 36641, with two gold guards attached, one long and one short; two gold lockets, one with hair, a gold key, seal, and pencil case attached to the short guard ; a gold brooch, with 5 white stones, with black ribbon attached with gold slide; a gold dress ring, 3 stones in it, one yellow and two white; a red coral bracelet; a peeble bracelet, black and red striped stones, silver clasp ; a repp dress, black and brown, with a white silk stripe; a black quilted stuff skirt; a brown cloth cloak, with hood, hood lined with brown silk, and two tassels attached to the hood; 2 pairs of white cotton stockings, marked E. N. and numbered 8 and 11 ; a white damask napkin; a chemise, and a nightcap. The above property was stolen by the person des- cribed below, who left Carlisle, en route to Belfast, by the Silloth steamboat, on Saturday, the 28th instant:— Ann M'Mennis, native of the county Monaghan, 24 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, very stout, fresh complexion, round red face, brown hair; house servant, and employed lately with English farmers. When last seen was dressed in white crinoline bonnet, mauve ribbon and flowers, and the stolen dress, and cloak, and skirt. Information to be given to the County Constabulary Office, Carlisle. Scottish Police. STOLEN from premises in this city, on the 24th March, 1863, a chased silver sugar bowl, with the letters D. H. C. H. stamped on the bottom, and a parcel of 16 filled long shawls or plaids, with black centres, best quality, by Charles Metz, who occupied the premises, and received the above property as an agent for a London Parcel Delivery Company, and who was la « t seen in Edinburgh on the 30th ult. He is by trade a dyer, is about 34 yoars of age, 5 feet 8 inches in height, sallow complexion, roman nose, dark brown eyes, and black hair, is by birth a German, but has not a foreign accent, having been brought up in Manchester, where he resided for several years ; was dressed in a blue cloth short coat, light trowsers and vest, and black bat. Police Officers and others are requested to make particular search for the above property and person, and if any of the articles are traced, or he is appre- hended, to communicate with the Procurator- Fiscal, City Chambers, Edinburgh. DESCRIPTION of three cows, the property of Thomas Prior, which were stolen out of his cow- house on the lands of Corratilton, parish of Templeport, barony of Tullyhaw, on the night of the 4th of April, 1863:— 1. Four years old, yellowish colour, white spots on the shoulders and hips, a star on the forehead, cocked horns, to calve about the 1st of June next; value for £ 8. 2. Three years old, yellowish colour, speckled white on the sides, a star on the forehead, cocked horns; calved about the 20th of March last; in low condition, and value for £ 6 10s. 3. Five years old, dark yellow colour, black hair about the head, cocked horns, calved about the 1st of March last; in low condition ; value for £ 7 10s. Swanlinbar, 6th April, 1863. ( B. 18594— 7702.) DESCRIPTION of a cow, the property of Thomas Taylor, stolen on night of 31st ultimo from his cow- house at Leeharrownahone, parish of Tomregan, and barony of Tullyhaw, viz.:— A five- year old springer cow, all white, except the ears, which are pale yellow ; has short horns; is in fair condition, and value for £ 8 10s. The owner, Thomas Taylor, will give £ 2 reward for the discovery of the animal and prosecution of the thief or thieves. Reference to the Constabulary at Ballyconnell. Killeshandra, 4th April, 1863. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of 5 o'clock, on the afternoon of the 3rd of June, 1863, William J. H. Moreland, Esq., was fired at on the public road at Poulagour, in the barony of Tulla Upper, and county of Clare, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by William O'Hara, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Tulla, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS, on the night of the 24th, about 10 o'clock, Timothy Riordan, car driver, was so seriously as- saulted by a party at present unknown that his life is in danger. Townland, Western Road, Parish St. Finbar, City of Cork. I hereby offer a reward of £ 50 to any person who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the the party concerned in this outrage. DESCRIPTION of Jeremiah Casey and John Connor, natives of Kerry, who stand charged with having, on i THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, FEBRUARY 10, 1863. the 25th March, 1863, in tho barony of Iraghtieonnor, parish of Knockanure, committed rape:— 1. 2- 1 years of ago, about 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, fbrid complexion, long face, black eyes, large nose, black hair; wore a black jerry hat, dark frieze ( rock coat, Hungarian cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; has thick lips, large teeth, no whiskers. 2. 24 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, long face, black eyes, large nose, black hair ; wore a black jerry bat, bright tweed sack coat, bright tweed trousers, bright tweed vest; wants a tooth in front of upper jaw; no whiskers. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of the 17th instant, Mr. John Cussen was fired at and wounded at his residence at Ballyfokeen, in the barony of Connelloe, in the county of Limerick, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrator of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son who shall, within six months from the date here- of, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person who committed the same. Grace Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Bruff to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the murder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and wounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of Longford, and county of Longford, on tho 20th April, 1862, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and aro harboured, received, and concealed, and assisted and aided in several parts of the country since the said murder: Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, givo such information as shall lead to the arrest of any ono whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- cealed, or assisted or aided in any way whatever in their escape) fH^ B^ rcst, the said Patrick Ross and James Rossi yjH^ Excellency's command, 0 I THOS. DESCRIPTION of said Pat Ross and James Ross:— Patrick, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, thin face, gray eyes, sharp nose, cut on his lip, brown hair; wore a gray frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark vest; wore a jim crow hat. Will try to' escape to America. James, 25 years of ago, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, dark complexion, thin face, gray eyes, regular nose, black hair; wore a dark frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; wore an old dark cloth cap. Will try to escapo to America. Drumlish. 22nd April, 1862. ( 8. 5444— 5614.) DESCRIPTION of Laurence Walsh, native of Fog- noy, and James Kelly, native of Creovaghbeg, who stand charged with having, on the 21st November, 1862, in the bavony of Rathcline, parish of Shrule, With others at present unknown, murdered Michael Beglin:— 1. 21 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, slightly pockmarked face, dark eyes, regular nose, dark brown hair; wore a cloth cap, light frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, twoad vest; no whisk- ers. Supposed to have gono to America. 2. 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sfoutmake, fair complexion, grim face, gray, eyes, regular nose, light brown hair; wore a jim Crow hat, gfay frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, tweed v6st j S speck on one of his eyes. It is most likely ho vail endoavour to escapo to America. Ballynaboe, ' 26th March, 1863. ( B. 14160— 6529.) Thomas Farrell ( serious assault) not arrested; Huo- and- Cry, 24th February, 1863. Mayo. £ 30 REWARD. WHEREAS, on the 20th instant., the body of Mary Callaghan, spinster, was found in Cornanool river, in the barony of Carra, county of Mayo, having been murdered by a party unknown, and subsequently placed there I hereby offer a reward of £ 30 to any person who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons concerned in this outrage. James Gallagher ( rape) not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th January, 1863. Tipperary. DUBLIN CASTLE, February 24, 1863. WHEREAS Michael Hayes, who is charged with having murdered Mr. John Waller Braddell, on the EfGth of July, 1862, in the town of Tipperary, has hitherto evaded arrest. His Excellency tho Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 300 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured or received, or concealed, or assisted, or aided in any way whatsoever, the said Michael Hayes in his escape from arrest. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above rewards will be paid by any Resident Magistrate or Officer of the Constabulary. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of ago, 6 feet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, largo heavy face, dark eyes, rather long hose, black, a little gray hair; wore a Black frieze body coat, knee breeches, black stockings, Caroline hat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray ; bald on tho crown of the head, with a few stray hairs on it; several of his front teeth out; high cheek bones and sunken jaws; and altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. He may probably assume a disguise, such as a wig, moustache, false teeth, and black coat, & c. Cappamore, 3rd August, 1862. ( B. 10071— 10^ 83.) Cornelius Bolan, who ( with Michael Ryan, who has been Arrested) effected his escape from the bridewe; l at Cashel, he being COmmitted, charged with cow steal- ing. Tho Hon. M. J. French, R. M., will give £ l0' reward fof such' information as shall lead to the cap- ture of said Bolan. . See Hue- and- Cry of 31st ulf. tyrone. DESCRIPTION of a cow, the property of Michael M'Anneny; of Gallon, parish of Ardstraw, and barony of Strabane, which was stolon out of his cow- house o'n the night of the 3rd, or morning of the 4th instafit:— About six years old, horns rather long and fine, yellow- ish red colour, the two hind tits longer than the ford ones ; value for about £ 6. Newtownstewart, 6th April, 18S3. ( B. 19324— 8100.) Henry Corran's cow, described in the Hue- and- Cry of tho 3rd instant, has been recovered. DESCRIPTION of an ass, tho properly of Michael Hughes, which was stolen from tfio lands of Ben, parish of St. Feighan's, barony of Fore, on the night of the 4th April, 1863:— A gelding ass, seven years old, light brown colour, whitish snip, largo oars, not shod ; and value for £ 1 10s. James Mahony ( robbery) not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 17th June, i862_ Wicklow. DESCRIPTION of the under- named parties who effected their escape on the night of the 22hd instiht, from the Glencree Reformatory :— ]. James M'Kenna, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight make, ill looking boy, fresh complexion, light brown hair, cut short, grey eyes, Slriall iiose, large mouth, oval visage ; initial of name in blue on left wfist, and an anchor on left hand ; ring fingfer, right hand, crooked. Parents reside rit 5o", Netv Lodge road, Belfast. 2. Edward Kenna, alias Kinnane, 18 ^ ears of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, heavy looking boy, fair complexion ( pale), dark brown half, cut father short, grey eyes, small nose, small mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Mnrroe, county Limerick. Tho Rev. Francis Lynch, tho manager of tho rfifofmd- tory, will defray the expense Of recapture, and will re- ward the officer who shall retake any of the above- named, with a sum of £ 3.
