DUBLIN, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 1863. Police THE Gazette, ( i: HUE- OB CRY. Scottish Police. WANTED, for having on the night of Saturday, the 14th instant,' assaulted and stabbed to the danger of life of Edward Dean Hammerman, residing in Jeffray's Close, Glasgow: Edward Carey, a shoemaker, but sometimes works as a labourer, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches higb, freckled face, fair complexion, heavy eyebrows, small whiskers on upper part of cheek, a cut running from bottom of nose across to middle of left cheek, a wart on left jaw, a number ot pimples under chin and about neck, brown hair, pretty long, straight nose; dressed in white moleskin trowsers, blue vest, blue monkey jacket, and a blue cloth cap, with peak ; a native either of Belmullet or Dudding, both in the county of Mayo. It is requested that everything be done to apprehend the said Edward Carey, and that any information concerning him be communicated to the Chief Constable of this city. STOLEN between the hours of five and six o'clock, p. m., 10th instant, about thirteen or fourteen gold Albert chains, eight long gold chains, two gold brace- lets, one a plain buckle, the other a plain band, orna- mented with a circle of vino leaves, in the centre of which is the representation of e bunch of grapes in small coral ; all are fine gold. A case containing about three dozen of ladies' gold finger rings, some of them half hoop turquoise, half hoop opals, one of which is set with three opals, one of the opals cracked, one half hoop ruby. DESCRIPTION of a cow, the property of Patrick M'Manus, which was stolen out of his cow- house, on tho lands of Drumcar, parish of Kinawley, and barony of Tullyhaw, on the night of the 8th instant:— a reddish yellow colour, Devon breed, six years old, with cocked horns, and a light fine tail; value for £ 6 10s. DESCRIPTION of Edward M'Hugh, native of Reliagh, who stands charged with having, on the 15th February, J863, in the barony of Tullyhaw, parish of Temple- port, stolen a cow, tho property of Hugh Dolan, who has obtained a magistrate's warrant for the arrest of the accused :— 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, full face, blue eyes, fair hair ; wore a glazed hat, gray frieze frock coat, black cloth trowsers, black cloth vest. He has a cast in his eyes. It is supposed he may be found in the sub- dis- trict of Ardlougher. Description of the cow. Six years old, reddish yellow colour, with white spots, short turned in horns; in low condition ; calved last harvest; value for £ 8. Swanlinbar, 18th Feb., 1863. ( B. 17321— 7564.) WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of 5 o'clock, on the afternoon of the 3rd of June, 1862, William J. H. Moreland, Esq., was fired at on the public road at Poulagour, in the barony of Tulla Upper, and county of Clare, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be pai<} by William O'Hara, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Tulla, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Robert John M'Vickers, native of Baltarshan, Londonderry, who stands charged with having, on the night of 14tb, or morning of 15th in- stant, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, parish of Buttevant, deserted from the 18th regiment of foot, taking with him his rifle, 120 rounds of ball cartridge, his clothing, and necessaries, together with his blanket and rug; also with having, on same night, fired at Peter Brennan, waiter in the canteen at Buttevant, which, it is supposed, he intended to rob. A warrant has been issued for his arrest:— 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout make, light complexion, round face, blue eye", Roman nose, light brown hair; wore regimental coat, regimental trowsers. DESCRIPTION of two the property of Anthony Judge, which were stolen out of his cow- house, in the townland of Ballymaha, parish of Crossmolina, and barony of Tyrawley, on the night of the 14th, or early in the morning of the 15th February, 1863:— 1. A springer, 4 years old, strawberry colour, white on back and belly, cocked horns; in good condition; will calve in April next, and value for about £ 9. 2. A heifer, 2 years old, bright strawberry colour, short open horns, six inches long; in good condition, and value for ±' 6. Crossmolina, 16th Feb., 1863. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of age, 6 feet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, large heavy face, dark eyes, rather long nose, black, a little gray hair; wore a black frieze body coat, knee breeches, black stockings, Caroline hat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray ; bald on the crown of the nead, with a few stray bairs on it j several of his front teeth out; high cheek bones and sunken jaws; snd altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. DESCRIPTION of James Maguire, native of Gorta- nigan, who stands charged with having, on the 15th February, 1863, in the barony of Strabane, parish of Cappa, committed rape:— is 30 years of age, 5 feet 6$ inches high, stout make, fair complexion, long face, grey eyes, long hose, light brown bair, brown wbiskers, the mark of a small cut on one of bis cheeks, and mark of a burn on one of his legs; he has two lumps or swellings on his neck, under his left ear; wears a cap or hat on the side of bis head, blue cloth coat, cord trowsers, moleskin test. Wexford DESCRIPTION of John Rossiter, native of Cushins- town, or Galbally, who stands charged with having, oil the 12th June, 1862, at DUngulph, in the barony of ShelbUrn, parish of Fethard, Obtained a sack of Indian meal from John Anderson, by meAns of a forged order, purporting to have been written and signed by Michael Barden, of Haytown, in said County: — 36 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, medium make, dark complexion, thin face, dark full eyes, regular nose, black hair and whlskerS { smart appearance; rather surley looking ; wore a beaver hat or cloth cap, old dark coat, cord trowsers, cord or mole> kin sleeved vest. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Farrell, native of Tully- vrone, who stands charged with having, on the 12th January, 1^ 63, in the barony of Rathcline, parish of Rathcline, violently assaulted Honor Farrell, hs sister- in- law, wiih a blow of a stone, from the effects ot which she lies ill:— is 23 years of ngx, 5 feet inches higbj slender make, sallow complexion, long face, brown eyes, sharp nose, brown hair wore a dark tweed coat, turned trowsers, turned vest; has a maik ot an old cut on the nose; and has friends living, named Fox, near Ballymahon. WHEREAS Michael Hayes, who is charged with having murdered Mr. John Waller Braddell, on the 80tli of July, 1862, in the town of Tipperary, has hitherto evaded arrest. His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 3u0 to any person or persons who shall, within one month from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleased hereby to offer a reward of .£ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give Longford. DUBLIN CASTLE, December 30, 1862. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the ttiiirder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and bounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of Longford, and county of Longford, on the 20th April, 1862, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and are harboured, deceived, and concealed, and assisted and aided in Several parts of the country since the said murder: Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persona who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said i murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- < eealed, or assisted or aided in any way whatever in • their escape from arrest, the said Patrick Ross and James Ross.
