As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in - the Hue and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 1863. English Police. . t' 300 REWARD— MURDER. WHEREAS, in tho night time, between 9 o'clock of Friday, tho 2ad, and 3 o'ch ok of Saturday, the 3rd January instant, James Barton, aged 55 years, Colliery Engineman, in tho employ of the Right Honourable tho Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, at tho Bawk House or Button pit, near Red Rock Biidge, Uaigh, near wigan, was, whilst on his duty, foul y murdered by some person or persons unknown, and his body burnt in the furnace under the boilers. A Reward of £ 300, that is to say £ 110 by Her Majesty's Govern- ment and £ 200 by the said " iSarl, will be paid to any person who shall give such in oraintion and evidence as shall load to tho discovery ar d convictiou of the mur- derer or murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise tho grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice not being tho actual murderer of the deceased. James Brown, 15 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches high, slight mako, fresh complexion, fair hair, grayish eyes, pug nose, oval visage; formerly belonged to Christopher- street, Belfast; parents dead. 2. John Mulholland, 15 years of ago, 4 feet 9 inches high, slight make, sallow complexion, dark hair-, dark eyes, aquiline nose, long visage; formerly belonged to Larabeg, Lisburn ; parents reside nt Antrim- lane, Lisburn. Left in company with No. 1. 3. James Corrigan, 15 years of age ( nominally), 5 feet high, squat make, sallow uomploxion, fair hair, gray eyes, small flat noso, square visage, coarse husky voice; formerly belonged to Belfast; parents dead. 4. Hugh Moore, i4 years of age, 4 feet 7 inches high, slight make, fresh comploxion, fair hair, dark blue eyes, small pug nose, small mouth, thin lips, round visage; scar on forehead, and boil mark on right side of neck ; formerly belonged to Belfast; parents reside at 6, Napier street, Belfast. It is strongly suspected that his friends know where he is, and conceal it in order to avoid paying 2s. 6d. per week towards his support. 5. Robert M'Ilroy, 14 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, slight mako, awkward walk, dark complexion, sooty brown hair, grey eyes, pugisb nose, thick lips, large front teeth, somewhat round visage, stiff deformed legs, lost half of fourth toe of right loot; formerly belonged to Belfast; parents reside at William's- lane, Belfast. 6. Thomas Barber, 16 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, sligl t make, fresh compl » xion, freckled, sandy hair, brownish dim eyes, turned- up nose, open nostrils, sonewhat large month, long thin visage ; formerly be- longed to Ballymena; mother resides at Whitehouse, Shore- road, Belfast. Absconded in company with No. 5. The school dress consists of drab corduroy trowsers, sleeved waistcoat and jacket, with plain brass buttons, blue striped shirt, all with reformatory stamp ; Scotch cap, chcck neck- tie, nailed boots, woollen socks. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of 5 o'clock, on the afternoon of the 3rd of June, 1862, William J. H. Moreland, Esq., was fired at on the public road at Poulagour, in the barony of Tulla Upper, and county of Clare, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by William O'Hara, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Tulla, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of seven hoggets, the property of Joseph Hall, esq., J. P., which where stolen from tho lands of Clooney, parish of Clooney, barony of Bun- ratty Upper, on ttie night of the 9th or 10th lost., vie.: Seven hoggets, English breed, much wool about tho head, with a tuft of wool on forehead, and matked with tbo letters J. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the murder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and wounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of Longford, and county of Longford, on the 2Uth April, 1862, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and are harboured, received, and concealed, and assisted and aided in several parts of the country since the said murder: Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any ono whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- cealed, or assisted or aided in any way whatever in their escape from arrest, tlie said Patrick Ross and James Ross. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by R. A. O'Donnell, Esq., Resident Magistrate at Long- ford. DESCRIPTION of Michael Horan, a native of Cashel- acoolaun, who stands charged with having^ on the night of the 6ih January instant, in the barony of Cos- telloe, parish of Castlemore, attempted to carry off by force, and against her will, Bridget Regan, a girl of 13 years old, with a promise of marrying . her:— 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout, make, fair com- pletion, round face, gray eyes, regular nose, briown hair; wore a dark tweed frock coat, much worn; cord trowsors, black ve.- t; is a good- looking young man ; and likely to go to England, via Liverpool, where he is wont to go annually as a harvest labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Gallagher, native of county Sligo, who stands charged with having, on the 10th January, 1863, in the barony of Coolavin, parish ol Kilcoleman, violated the person of Mary Ford:— 23 years ot age, 5 feet 10| inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, pale face, brown eyes, regular nose, brown hair; wore a dark tweed frock coat, tweed trowsers, tweed vest; broad shoulders ; walks a little stooped. It is supposed he- is about going to England. A warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Clogher Constabulary. ( B. 15716— 6838.) WHEREAS Michael Hayes, who is charged with having murdered Mr. John Waller Braddell, on the 30th of July, 1862, in the town of Tipperary, has hitherto evaded arrest. His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 3( JO to any person or persons who shall, within one month from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, sinde the said murder, knowingly harboured or received, or concealed, or assisted, or aided in any way whatsoever, the said Michael Hayes in his escape from arrest. By His Excellency's command, THOS., A. LARCOM. The above rewards will be paid . by any Resident Magistrate or Officer of the Constabi^ ry. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of ago, 6 foet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, largo heavy face, dark eyes, rather Iong nose, black, a little gray hair? wore a black frieze ' odj coat, knee breeches, black stockings, Caroline hat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray ; bald on the crown of the head, with a few stray hairs on it; several of his front teeth out; high cheek bones and sunken jaws ; rnd altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. He may probably assume a disguise, such as a wig, moustache, falso teeth, and black coat, & c. Cappamore, 3rd August, 1862. ( B. 10071— 10283.) DESCRIPTION of four sheep, the property of Mary Burke, which was stolen from the lands of Kilmore, parish of Lisronagh, and barony of Iffa and Offa East, on the night of tho 16th, or morning of the 17th instant:— 2 ewes, in lamb; 2 hoggets, white, branded with the letters J. A - DESCRIPTION of five sheep, the property of John Bourke, whieh wero stolen from tho lands qf Glarifin- chena, parish of Upperchurch, barony of' Kilhamanagh Upper, on the night ot the 31st December, 1862: — Four ewes, years old, in good condition, branded on left sides with the letters J. B.; and raddled on tbe shoulders; value for £ 2 10s. each; one ram, in bad condition, branded with tbe letters J. t. raddled over tbe tail ; value £ 2. , Borrisoleigh, 14th Jan., 1863. DESCRIPTION of cow, tbe property of Patrick Col- houn, of Crevenagh, which was stolen from the lands of Crevenagh, parish of Cappagh, barony of East Omagh, on the 6th day of January, 1863 :—; Six years old, middle size, white colour, with small brown spots on her sides, and one at her right eye, horns bent forward ; and is expected to calve in March next; she is value for about £ 6. DESCRIPTION of a person, name unknown, supposed native of Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on tbe night of 15th Jan., 1863, in the barony of Clon- lonon, parish of Kilcleagh, stolen ahorse, the property of Francis Bradley, out of bis stable on the lands of Ballinamuddagh, Moate district:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, dark brown hair ; wore an old black frock coat, dark trowsers. This person has the appearance ot having being some time in the army, as ho himself asserts, but now is in the apparel of ragman or wanderer of that class, j Description of the horse: A dark bay horse, rising 5 years old, bis legs darker ban his body, a smooth coat, a whitottar on his fore- lead, about 14 hands high, light limbs, and spfigbtljr; las the hair rubbed off his right hip in a long stripe from rubbing a> ainst tbo wall ; value tor about ±' 7. Deserters from Her Majesty's Service, [ Ireland.] On and after this date ( Dec. 11,1857), until further notice, the Reward given by the War Office for the Apprehension of a Deserter ^ be TWENTY SHILLINGS instead of TEN SHILLINGS; the object being to prevent the crime of Desertion, and to hold out a greater inducement for the recovery of Deserters to Her Majesty's Service.
