No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, o. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, JANUARY 13, 1863. English Police. £ 300 REWARD— MURDER. WHEREAS, in the night time, between 9 o'clock of Friday, the 2ad, and 3 o'clock of Saturday, the 3rd January instant, James Barton, aged 55 years, Colliery Engineman, in the employ of the Right Honourable tho Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, at the Bawk House or Button Pit, near Red Rock Bridge, Haigh, near Wigan, was, whilst on his duty, foully murdered by sonn person or persons unknown, and his body burnt in the furnace under the boilers. A Reward of £ 300, that is to say £ 100 by Her Majesty's Govern- ment and £ 200 by the said Earl, will be paid to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the mur- derer or murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice not being the actual murderer of the deceased. Information to be given to Captain Elgee, Chief Constable, Preston; to Mr. King, Assistant Chief Constable, Bootle, near Liverpool; to Mr. Ellison, Superintendent, Pemberton, near Wigaa, or at any of the Police Stations, in the said County of Lancaster. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of 5 o'clock, on the afternoon of the 3rd of June, 1862, William J. H. Moreland, Esq., was fired at on the public road at Poulagour, in the barony of Tulla Upper, and county of Clare, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by William O'Hara, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Tulla, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of a horse, the property of William Herlihy, which was stolen from the town of Mallow, parish of Mallow, barony of Fermoy, on the 1st day of January, 1863, from out of a stable, viz.:— A black horse, fourteen hands higb, 3£ year old, a small star on forehead, one of bind fetlocks white, and is three or four inches longer on the inside than on the outside of the foot, five grooves cut on the fore hoof next the guide, and extends one inch over the shoe, about the breadth of a five shilling piece of the hair scratched off the hind quarter, partly between both hind legs, and narrow chested, with mane and forelock bare. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Murta, a native of county Kildare, who stands charged with having, on the 4th day of January, 1863, in the barony of Coolock, parish of Howth, absconded from his father's house, after having broken open a box, and stealing thereout £ 5 in gold, the property of his father, Thomas Murta; he was aided by Peter Murphy, a native of Belmullet, county Mayo. It is supposed they will endeavour to escape to America. 1. 15 years of age, 4 feet 8 inches high, stout make, dark complexion, gray eyes, dark hair; wore a corduroy jacket, tweed trowsers; black cloth cap. DESCRIPTION of two men unknown, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 29th ult, stolen from the shop of James O'Leary, in the barony of Gowran, parish of Graigue, a till containing ten or twelve shillings in silver and copper, and a yellow silk pocket handkerchief, a violin and a bow, maker's name, Perry, Angle- street, Dublin, branded on the back and labelled inside, Thomas Perry and William Wilkinson, Dublin, 1850 ; the neck had been broken, and the upper part newly grafted on : — 1. 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, pearl on right eye, brown hair ; wore a blue frock coat, dark cloth trowsers, dark cloth vest, a low jerry hat, and Wellington boots. 2. 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stout make, full face, dark hair; wore a light coloured tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, light tweed vest, a jerry hat, and Wellington boots. DESCRIPTION of James Dunford, a native of Jockey Hall, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 30th ultimo, in the barony of Pubblebrien, parish of Crecora, townland of Logovinshire, stolen two sheep, the property of Maurice Fitzgerald, and sold them to a butcher named Maclean, in Limerick:— 27 years ot age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, fresh com- plexion, thin face, hazel eyes, cocked nose, dark hair; wore a dark brown frock coat, brown tweed trowsers, dark vest; smart and active ; wears no whiskers. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the murder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and wounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of Longford, and county of Longford, on the 20th April, 1862, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and are harboured, received, and concealed, and assisted and aided in several parts of the countiy since the said murder: Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any ono whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- cealed, or assisted or aided in any way whatever in their escape from arrest, the said Patrick Ross and James Ross. By His Excellency's command, N THOS. A. LABCOM. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by R. A. O'Donnell, Esq., Resident Magistrate at Long- ford. DESCRIPTION of said Pat Ross and James Ross:— Patrick, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, thin face, gray eyes, sharp nose, cut on his lip, brown hair; woro a gray frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark vest; wore a jim crow hat. Will try to escape to America. James, 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight falake, dark complexion, thin face, gray eyes, regular Hose, black hair; wore a dark frieze frock coat, cord browsers, dark tweed vest; wore an old dark cloth cap. Bartholomew M'Grath ( cattle stealer) not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 28th March, 1862. Tipperary. DUBLIN CASTLE, November 1, 1862. WHEBEAS Michael Hayes, who is charged with having murdered Mr. John Waller Braddell, on the 80th of July, 1862, in the town of Tipperary, has hitherto evaded arrest. His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 300 to any person or persons who shall, within one month from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who. has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured or received, or concealed, or assisted, or aided in any way whatsoever, the said Michael Hayes in his escape from arrest. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LArCOM. The above rewards will be paid by any Resident Magistrate or Officer of the Constabulary. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of age, 6 feet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, large heavy face, dark ey « s, rather long nose, black, a little gray hair; wore a black frieze ' odj coat, knee breeches, black stockings, Caroline hat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray ; bald on the crown of the head, with a few stray hairs on it; several of his front teeth out; high cheek bones and sunken jaws; end altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. He may probably assume a disguise, such as a wig, moustache, false teeth, and black coat, & c. Cappamore, 3rd August, 1862. ( B. 10071— 10283.) DESCRIPTION of four heifers, the property of Mr. Michael Hourigan, of Golden, which were stolen from off the lands of Cloghaleigh, parish of Relickmurry and Athassel, barony of Clanwilliam, on the night of the 5th January, 1863, viz.:— 1st. White, with reddish spots, the inside of the ears, and the circle of same, red ; the outside white; short and upright horns, one and a- half years old, and value for £ 6 10s. 2nd. A darkish white, red ears, short horns, one and a- half years old, and value for £ 5. 3rd. Red, with white belly, a slight mixture of white hairs on the sides, white star on the forehead, short horns, one and a- half years old, affd value for £ 5. 4th. Red, slightly spotted with white, head and neck red and white, short horns, one and a- half years old, and value for £ 5 10s. Golden, 7th Jan., 1863. ( B. 14999— 11017.) DESCRIPTION of seven in- calf heifers, the property of Mr. Thomas Brindley, of Ballysheehan, which were stolen from the lands of Ganegard, parish of Ballysheehan, barony of Middlethird, on the morning of Tuesday, the 6th inst.:— Two years and a- balf old, to calve in April, they are chiefly spotted red and white, raddled across the loins with red; In good con- dition, and value about £ 70, Cattle answering their description, with an old cow, were seen on Tuesday, about ll o'clock, a. m., ne » r Carrick- on- Suir, going in the direction of Waterford, driven by an old man, who is supposed to be accompanied by two young men. WHEBEAS, early on the morning of the 7th inst., a party unknown set fire to a stack of oats, the pro- perty of James Curran, farmer, on the lands of Bally- scanlon, barony of Middlethird, county Waterford. I hereby offer a reward of £ 20 to any person who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the incendiary. Payable on conviction. D. C. WHErEAS, on the night of the 23rd instant, about eight o'clock, two persons unknown, having been refused admission into the dwelling of Peter Gahan, of Killeenbrack, in the Streamstown Constabulary District, county of Westmeath, fired a shot into the house, lodging a ball in the wall opposite. I hereby offer a reward of £ 20 to any person who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of both or either of said persons. B., a pair of top riding boots, a quantity of men's wearing apparel, two silk hand- kerchiefs, a man's cloth cap, with yellow band, and other articles which cannot be described.
