As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Setters addressed to the Editor must lie jsrefjaiai, otherwise the insertion will not be made. W.," as they eaunot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. About noon on the 5th instant, a newly- born female Child was found in a field near Keighley, Yorkshire, tied up in two pieces of new calico and some brown paper. A coroner's inquest was held on the 8th instant, and a verdict of Wilful Murder returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gill, West fiding Constabulary, Keighley.— Bow- street, April 11. Description of JAMES CAIN, late of Wigan, Lancashire, ! cirarged on warrant with a violent •• ssault upon Michael King of Wigan, by striking: him on the head with a stone, at Ince, on the 7th instant, and who now lies in a dangerous state. He is by trade a collier, about S feet 6 or- 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, grey eyes ; dressed in a blue pilot cloth monkey jacket, dark tweed trousers, black cloth vest, black cloth cap, and ankle boots. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ellison, County Constabulary, Peinberton, Wigan, Lancashire.— Bow- street, April 11. Description of EDWARD MURPHY, alias TOM KING, alias MOSSLEY, an Irishman, charged, with ten other Irish- men now in custody, with assaulting and seriously wounding John Hadfield, one of the police constables of the borough of Oldham, at 2 a m. on the 29th instant, and for whose appre- hension a warrant has been issued. He is a card room hand, about 20 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair, little or no whiskers, fat red face, rather stout; dressed in a blue monkey jacket, light trousers and waistcoat, and dark cloth cap : although a factory operative, he has been working as a labourer on the railway, and is now supposed to be working on some new line of railway in Cumberland or the border counties of Scotland. Information to be given to Mr Wetherell, Chief Constable, Oldham, Lancashire.- April 11. FORGERY. About 8 p. m. on the 10th instant a man of the following description sent a boy with a Forged £ 10 Bank of England Note, N | H 93704, dated 23rd January, 1862, signed ' W. P. Gattie,' and a note written in pencil addressed to Mr. Ayres, chemist, Hinckley, Leicestershire, requesting something for a horse with gripes and haifa- dozen constitution balls, also change for the enclosed note which was in a canvas bag : he is about 35 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, slight figure, pale face, no whiskers, large moustache, and dark brown hair ; dressed in dark coat, black billycock hat, and bright leather leggings. On the boys return, and when outside the town, he was overtaken by another man, to whom he gave the bag, drugs, and change, and received Is. The second man is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, very stout, full red face, blotched as if from drinking, brown hair turning grey, large whiskers meeting under the chin ; dressed in black coat, light vest with dark sprig, dark brown cloth trousers, Wellington boots, black billycock bat, and mackintosh, and had with him a yellow walking stick with bright knob. They are supposed to be the same men who uttered a forged £ 10 Bank of England note on the 3rd instant at Ironbridge, Salop ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 9th instant). Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent John Moore, County Constabulary, Hinckley, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, April 14. On the 3rd instant a man of the following description sent a boy, whom he met at Benthall, with a Forged £ 10 Bank of England Note, N | H 93,704, dated 23rd January, 1862, signed ' W. P. Gattie,' to Mr; Hartshorn, druggist, of Iron- bridge, Salop, with a request that he would send a drink for a horse with the gripes and half- a- dozen constitution balls with change in silver in a canvas bag, into which he placed the note. Some little delay having taken place, when the boy returned he was gone; and on examination the note was found to be a forgery. He is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 in. high, dark brown hair, and large bushy whiskers, rather long, all round chin, rather pale looking, slightly pockpitted, and is supposed to have a small scar on one cheek ; dressed in a brown turban or jimcrow hat, which is turned up at the sides, wore a plaid muffler round his chin, brown or snuff- coloured jacket, with pockets outside, also a small breast pocket each side, was seen wearing a macintosh, but afterwards took it off and carried it on his arm, light- coloured trousers, and light made boots. On the same day ( 3rd instant) he was seen in company with another man about 60 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, stoutly made, with grey hair, and small grey whiskers, is broad featured, and has small blotches on face, as if from drinking; dressed in a low round black hat, dark jacket, and wore light- coloured leggings ; he had with him a yellow walking stick, with round green knob, which can be identified. A man answering his description booked by train from Iron- bridge Station to Shrewsbury, Salop, by the 7' H p. m. train, the same night. Both men can be identified. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Richardson, Wellington ; or to P. C. ( No. 45) William Evans, Ironbridge, Salop.— Boio- street, April 11. Description of WILLIAM YATES TOWNDROW, late collector of rates for the township of Tranmerp, Cheshire, who is charged with forgery, and obtaining £ 900 in Bank of England Notes, viz., three £ 100 Notes, which have been recovered ; four £ 50 ditto, dated Liverpool, 24th May, 1861, Nos. 83,577, 83,578, 83,579, and 83,580; eight £ 20 ditto, dated Liverpool, 22nd May, 1861, Nos. 23,501, 23,502, 23,503, 23,504, 23,505, 23,506, 19,958. and 22,863 ; two ditto, dated Manchester, 22nd January, 1861, Nos. 86,621, and 35,466, payment of which is stopped. He is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender make, with florid complexion, brown hair, and small light whiskers, is supposed to be short- sighted, has full eyes, wears spectacles, large nose, prominent at the bridge, and a purple spot on it; takes snuff, wears his hat resting on his eyebrows, has a self- confident air, and will probably be dressed in a new suit of clothes. £ 50 reward will be given for his apprehension, on application to Mr. J. E. Rae, Birkenhead. Information to be given to Mr. Thos. Hammond, Superintendent of Constabulary, Birkenhead, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.- Bow- street, April 9 Description of GEORGE HOSBAND, late of Tunstall, grocer, who has absconded, charged with uttering, on the 20th of December last, a forged Bill of Exchange for £ 20, with intent to defraud Henry Worral. He is about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light brown or auburn hair and whiskers meeting under the chin, very light or sallow complexion, thin features, slender make, and walks very erectly; generally dressed in a light grey woollen suit of fashionable make, or a suit of black cloth, and a black hat with crape or a fancy round hat ; he is a baker and confec- tioner by trade, and will most likely be found working as a journeyman ; he frequents low public and gambling houses. A warrant is in the hands of Superintendent Samuel Cole, Hanley, for his apprehension, to whom information to be given, or at any of the Constabulary Stations in the county of Stafford, Bow- street, April 7. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person on the Cheltenham race- course, the following Watches, viz.: An old- fashioned gold Watch, plain white dial, crest a palm tree, motto ' Depressa Resurgo.' A patent silver lever Watch, maker Mann, Gloucester. A silver lever Watch with mainspring broken. A silver Geneva Watch, plain white face, maker Charles Deford. A silver Geneva Watch, plain white dial, with gold Albert Chain attached. A silver lever Watch without glass or hands. A lady's small gold Watch. Also stolen, from a gentleman's carnage, a dark brown Inver- ness Cape, with calico under the arm- holes. Information to be given to Mr. John Nicholls, Chief Constable, Cheltenham.— Bow- street, April 14. A highway robbery was attempted on the 7th instant in the parish of Billingford, at 8 p. m., by a man 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 incites high, without whiskers, and dressed in brown velveteen frock coat with large pearl buttons ( one button off behind), cord trousers tight in the leg, and dark cloth cap with peak. He is in the habit of visiting fairs in company with low horse- dealers, and was at Elmham fair offering a pony for sale the day the attempt was made. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Chambers, Aylsham, Norfolk.— Bow- street, April 14. Stolen from the person of James Randles, while drunk and asleep on the highway leading from Malpas to Whitchurch, during the night of the 5th instant, 8s. in Silver, and an old- fashioned German silver Watch, cracked across the dial, with brass Guard, two Keys, a steel Sale, three Shells, and a Three- halfpenny Piece attached. Information to be given to Sergeant Henry Foster, County Police Station, Malpas, Cheshire.— Bow- street, April 14. Between 3 and 4 p. m. on the 4th instant a serious assault was committed upon James Robb, a hawker, travelling with a pack of watches and jewellery, near Howgate Toll, and a silver verge Watch, capped and jewelle^, with engine- turned cases, and a silver Albert Chain attached, long links, with a key containing a cairngorm stone, was stolen from his person. A man of the following description was seen following Robb a few minutes before the assault was committed, and left behind a rivet, ting hammer, about 2J lbs. weight, with handle about 14 inches long: a labourer, speaks with Irish accent, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, black hair, no whiskers, fresh, ruddy complexion, hair curled at each side with the comb; dressed in a black or brown cloth cap with cloth pi ak, heavy navvy boots with five rows of tackets down to heel and brass eyelet holes, blue polka jacket, white moleskin vest, and soiled tight trousers with a square patch on each knee. He told a person that he once lived at Wishaw ; had the appearance of a navvy or drainer. Information to be given to the Procurator- Fiscal, or Chief Constable, County Rooms, Edinburgh.— Bow- street, April 14. Supposed to have been stolen from the person of a lady coming out of the Royal Italian Opera, Covent Garden, on the 12th instant, a broad gold chain Bracelet, with Locket pendant. £ 5 reward will be paid by Mr. Williams, No. 6, Commercial Sale Rooms, Mincing- lane, on recovery of the same, and con- viction of the offender or offenders.— Bow- street, April 14. Stolen from the person, about 4 a. m. on the 8th instant, at the Great Western Railway Station, Paddington, a gold snake Ring, with an emerald through the head ; a large gold Keeper Ring, set with a blue stone, and has the hall- mark inside, ' 18 carat;' and a gold barrel- shaped Brooch, with plaited hair in the centre ; and other articles. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the appre- hension and convicton of the offender or offenders. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. William Luker, ' Old Dog Tray' inn, or to the Superintendent of City Police, Oxford.— Bow- street, April 11. Stolen from a man, whilst asleep in a public- house in the borough of Oldham, between 7 and 11 p. m. on the 8th instant, a silver lever Watch, No. 2345, with a silver Gu. ird attached thereto. Information to be given to Mr. Wetherell, Chief Constable, Police Office, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bow- street, April 11. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, about 10 a. m. on the 8th instant, whilst a number of people were preparing to leave the lower station of the Great Western Railway at Reading to witness a prize- fight, a valuable gold lever Watch, maker Roskell, Liverpool, No. 48923. A reward of £ 5 will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch, on application to Mr. John Peck, Chief Superin- tendent of Police, Reading.— Bow- street, April 11. Description of a rnan who assaulted a female with intent to rob her, on a highway in the township of Gate Fulford, about 7' 30 p. m. on the 7th instant: about 30 years of age, dark hair, dark whiskers ; dressed in brown coat, dark trousers, and black hat. Information to be given to B. E. Naylor, East Riding Constabulary, Escrick, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, April 11. Stolen from the person, at Rugby races, two Watches of the following description, viz.: one is a silver lever hunting watch, Nr. 11093, no maker's name, capped, and has the appearance of having been taken off very frequently, the spring that opens it is very weak ; the other is an open- faced lever watch, No. 17308, maker's name ' Bennet, 65, Cheapside, maker to the Royal Family,' engraved on the inner cases, also ' Bennet' marked on dial- plate, winds up with a spring. In- formation to be given to Mr. James Wild, Superintendent of Police, Rugby, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, April 11. Stolen from the person of George Greensmith, of Tickhill, Yorkshire, when in the horse fair at Doncaster on the 5th instant, a German silver double- cased verge watch, maker's name, Richards, London, No. 805. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Isaac Gregory, Borough Police Office, Doncaster.— Bow- street, April 9. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, on the morning of the 3rd instant, at the Railway Station, Northampton, a lady's gold Geneva Watch, maker George Attenborough Strand, London. Information to be given to Mr. Inspector J. T. Evans, County Constabulary Station, Northampton.— Bow- street, April 9. About midnight on the 5th instant, Mr. William Carter, of No. 4, Manchester lane, Warrington, Cheshire, when near his own residence, was garotted and robbed of £ 1 15s. in gold, silver, and copper coins ; a silver Geneva Watch, engine- turned case and white enamelled dial; black silk Neck Guard; a common brass Seal with black stone, engraved an eye with inscription ' Watch over thee'; and small maroon morocco Purse with nine Receipt Stamps. Information ® > e given to Mr. John S. Macmichael, Chief Constable, Warrington, Cheshire.— Bow- street, April 7. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between the hours of 9 p. m. on the lst, and 7 a. m. Qn the 2nd instant, the shop of Mr. Benjamin Lewis, draper and grocer, Garnfach, in the parish of Aberystwith, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a browa cloth Mantle, reeved on the back ; a brown cloth Mantle ; a grey wincey Mantilla or Shawl, coloured border; a woollen scarf Shawl, brown plaid; a length of West of England black ketseymere ( 2- 5 yards); two lengths of black Doeskin; a length 2 POLICE GAZETTE. April 14. of fancy Broadcloth, ribbed with a little red ( 4 yards) ; a fancy Muffler, scarlet border; a piece of gala Plaid, small check pattern, red and black ( about 30 yards) ; a woollen Scarf; about 10 lbs. of Tobacco, in 2oz. packets, ' Brankston f about 10 lbs. of Tobacco, in 4 oz. packets,' W, Ringer;' about 30s. worth of Receipt Stamps, about 40s. worth of Postage Stamps, and about 4s. in Coppers. Four men, of the following descrip- tion, are strongly suspected of having committed the same, as two of them were seen loitering about the neighbourhood on the evening of the 31st ultimo, and were also seen at the back of the said premises between 1 and 2 on the following morning, they, were then disturbed by a dog, and seen to make their escape over a wall, they have since been seen in company together, with one of them carrying a large sized black port- manteau. 1st, about 25 years of age, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, s'totttly made, fair complexion, full face, and dark curly hair ; dressed in dark monkey jacket, light trousers, dark billy- cock hat ( the brim turned up at the sides), and old boots. 2nd, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, proportionately made, fair complexion, and dark hair ; dressed in dark monkey jacket ( pockets outside), cord trousers, and dark_ cloth cap, which he wears on one side of his head, he was convicted about four years ago for breaking into the shop of Mr. Davis, iron- monger, of Pontypool. 3rd, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 ins. high, rather stoutly made, fair complexion, and light hair cut very short; dressed in black cut- off coat, light moleskin trousers, and dark billycock hat. 4th, from 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and whiskers ( small), and a small wart on one side of his nose ; dressed in an old velvet coat and dark cap. They are all from the neighbourhood of Merthyr, and can be identified. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Usk, or to Superintendent Mr. H. Fowler, Tredegar, Monmouthshire. — Bow- street, April 14. Between the hours of 10 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 12th inst., the dwelling- house of Thomas Godwin, of Buckover, in the parish of Thornbury, in the county of Gloucester, was broken into during the absence of the family, and the following articles was stolen therefrom : a black cloth Jacket, pockets outside ; a black cloth Vest, with a watch pocket on the right side; a pair of Cossack Boots, nearly new, with a row of sprigs round the outside, and make a great noise on being worn; and 10s. 6d. in silver. The offender will probably be wearing the stolen boots, as he left an old pair of lace- up half- boots on the pre- mises. Information to be given to Sergeant David Rawle, Thornbury, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, April 14. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Hook, near Goole, which was unoccupied, between the 22nd ultimo and the 9th instant, the following articles, the property of Mrs. Marshall, viz.: a dozen of Dessert Knives and Forks ; a dozen of Table Knives and Forks ; two Carvers; a pair of kid Boots ; a new calico Shirt ; a silk Skirt dyed black ; and a Fourpenny- piece. The thieves gained an entrance through the window, by wrenching the shutter. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent William Green, West Riding Constabulary, Goole, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, April 14. Further information respecting the burglary at Coatham, near Redcar, on the 31st ultimo, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 4th instant. A man and woman of the follow- ing description have been apprehended, and the whole of the plate, except the Butter- knife, has been recovered; the other articles are still missing: JAMES PEARSON, 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, blue eyes, dark brown hair, sallow complexion, and much pockpitted ; dressed in dark grey tweed coat, vest of same material, dirty moleskin trousers, greasy light- coloured cap, and lace- up shoes ; states that he is a native of Low Moor, near Bradford, Yorkshire, and is a puddler : and ANN WALKER, alias EMSLEY, alias DOWSEY, 31 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, brown eyes, dark brown hair, and fresh complexion ; dressed in a grey mixture shawl, lavender and white striped stuff dress, and black velvet bonnet, trimmed with red artificial flowers ; states that she is a native of Leeds, and has lived with Pearson two years as his wife. Two other men who were seen in their company prior to, and absconded immediately after their apprehension, and from whom Pearson says he got the property found in his possession, are strongly suspected, having been seen at Redcar on the night of the burglary. One about 31 or 32 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stoutly made, light brown hair, no whiskers, and thin face ; dressed in black cloth cap, blue pilot coat with velvet collar, blue vest, dirty moleskin trousers, lace- up shoes, and red and yellow silk neckerchief: has worked at Darlington, Middlesbro', and other places, as a puddler ; his wife and child are residing at Spenny Moor, in the county of Durham, with her parents: the other about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stoutly made, fair complexion, light hair, no whiskers, and long face; dressed in black plush cap, singed on one sic^ e, old long blue pilot coat, tweed vest, shabby moleskin trousers, and strong shoes worn down at the heels: has served three years' penal servitude, which expired about two years ago ; he is brother to the other one, and works with him. In- formation to be given to Mr. George Howard, Deputy Chief Constable, Northallerton ; or to Mr. Superintendent E. Smith, Stokesley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, April 14. During the night of the 4th instant, the dwelling- house of Henry Williams, Madeley- green, near Ironbridge, Salop, was broken into, and two hams of Bacon, about 16 lbs. each, stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Richardson, Wellington ; or to P. C. William Evans, Iron- bridge, Salop.— Bow- street, April 11. Between 12 p. m. and 6 a. m. on the 6th instant the residence of Mrs. Darley, of Rossall Hall, near York, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen there- from : a Liquor Stand for four decanters ; a pair of Sugar Tongs, broken in the centre ; a Sugar Sifter; a Sugar Spoon, oval bowl ; an Inkstand, fluted pattern, with box in the centre and lid forming a small candlestick; two Tops of Inkstands ; a Sugar Basin and Tongs, plain pattern ; a pair of Candlesticks, fluted pattern ; three Tea Spoons, marked ' D and two Dessert Spoons, all silver, and marked with crest— a nag's head; a Timepiece in brass case; six or seven gold Seals, one engraved ' Mary Ann' and one with ivory handle and crest— a nag's head. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Driscoll, Clifton, York.— Bow- street, April 9. On the morning of the 24th ultimo, between the hours of 1 and 6, the house of Messrs. J. and H. Walter, of Broad- street, Worcester, was burglariously entered, and a large quantity of valuable property stolen therefrom, consisting of ladies' and gentlemen's gold and silver Watches, gold Neck Chains, gold and silver Guards, and Albert ditto, ladies' and gentlemen's diamond, fancy, and Signet Rings, and a large number of Wedding ditto, also Brooches, Breast Pins, < fcc., and about £ 40 in Gold, Silver, and Copper. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, and the recovery of the whole of the property ( Which can be identified), shall receive £ 200 reward; or for the conviction of the offenders alone, shall receive £ 100 reward, on application to Mr. Power, Superintendent of Police, Worcester.— Bow- street, April 7. HOB. SE AID CATTLE STEALING. The Horse stolen from Warwick on the lst instant, the property of G. Baker, Esq., advertised in the Police Gazette of the 4th instant, has been recoveied. It was traced by the Police into Oxfordshire, about forty miles from Warwick. The man is still at large, and is supposed to have gone to Portsmouth. Information to be given to W. C. Hickling, Chief of Police, Warwick.— Bow- street, April 14. Stolen on the night of the 10th instant, from a field at Framfield, Sussex, the property of John Bannister, a wether Sheep. The skin and entrails were found in adjoining fields. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Uckfield, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, April 14. During the night of the 7th instant, a Ewe Sheep was slaughtered in a field on the farm of Mr. Thomas Ross, of Thornton Hall, Lincolnshire, and the left part of the loins, part of the skin, the fat, liver, and heart carried away, leaving the remainder of the said sheep in the field. A reward of £ 2 2s. is offered by the Yarborough Association for the Prosecution of Felons, and £ 5 5s. by Mr. Ross ( to continue in force one year and payable on conviction) to any person or persons who will give such information as shall lead to the discovery of or shall discover the offender or offenders. Supposed to have been stolen from Shafton- lane, near Cudworth, on the 2nd instant, a dark bay Horse, 15 hands high, 4 years old, long black tail and mane, and has had a blister on the near hind leg. Left at a blacksmith's shop at Linslade, Bedford, on the morning of the 2nd instant, and supposed to have been stolen, a dark brown Horse, aged, about 14 hands high, hair off the forehead about the size of a half- crown, a loose setfast on near- side of back, saddle marks, in low condition, and had on an old halter. A short man, dressed in a brown coat and billycock hat, was seen riding the same into Linslade without a saddle, and has not since been heard of. Information to be given to Inspector W. By a lodger, a journeyman baker, about 36 or 38 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, short hair, very few whiskers, and dressed in a black beaver high- crowned hat, speckled coat, woollen cord Trousers, and had with him a white canvass bag. Information to be given to Mr. Thomas Everist, Superintendent of Police, Chatham. — Bow- street, 14. as worn by masons or carpenters, cord trousers, dark cap, and short Wellington boots, wore an apron tied round his waist. He lodged at the 1 White Hart' on the night previous to the rdbbery, and did not get up until nearly 10 o'clock the next morning when he at once left without any notice having been taken by the family, and was afterwards seen at Earith, with a small bundle in his possession. On the 7th instant a man absconded from the borough of Great Grimsby, charged with stealing a blue striped Shirt, a white calico ditto, and a pair of blue worsted Stockings from his lodgings ; also with obtaining several sums of Money of various persons, under the following false pretence, viz., that he was mate of a ship lying in the Royal Dock, and that he should favor the butchers with orders for meat for the ship. He is about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stoutly built, with round shoulders, light hair and whiskers, meeting under the chin, fresh complexion, and peculiar small eyes; dressed in a loose brown and black checked coat and trousers of the same material, and blue cap ; has a mild plausible manner of talking, with the appeara; ce of a captain or mate of a ship : states that he is a native of Scarborough, and that he served in mation to be given to Mr. John Campbell, Chief Superinten- one of Her Majesty's cutters about seven years ago. A warrant has been issued at the borough of Kingston- upon- Hull for the apprehension of JOHN GEORGE SHEPHERD, merchant's clerk, charged with embezzling £ 50 and upwards, the property of his master, Mr. James Headley. He is about 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair and complexion, no whiskers, thick lips; dressed in dark clothes, and of respectable appearance; speaks the Yorkshire dialect. He will no doubt make for some seaport, and endeavour to leave the country. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, April 14. Further information respecting the robbery of sheep Skins from Little Stretton, during the night of the 3rd instant. The skins have been recovered at Ludlow, while they were being offered for sale, but the party offering them made his escape; his name is JAMES J. KILFOY, and not ' FIEGTRY' as previously stated, but of the same description as before stated. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Baxter, or to P. C. B. Stolen on the 9th instant, from the parish of Gayton Thorpe, a blue pilot cloth Top Coat, with large bone buttons, one large pocket on the left inside, and two pockets on the outside, the pockets are lined with dark grey jean, and the sleeves with drab jean, the property of John Wilson. By a man about 20 years of age, nearly 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, light complexion, no whiskers, and dressed in a fustian jacket, cord breeches, and Duffield gaiters with leather round the bottoms. The two men therein described were accompanied by two other men on the day of the robbery, one of whom is supposed to be about 25 years of age, of middle height, with fair complexion, and light hair; dressed in black clothes, and grey wideawake with black band round it ; the other about 18 years of age, and dressed in rather shabby black clothes. The man before described as wearing a black wide- awake hat, and carrying a great coat on his arm, had also a small black leather bag. They all took second class tickets at the Marks- Tey Station, for London, by the train which arrives at Marks- Tey at 4' 42 p. m., and reaches London at 6-£ ti\. Information to be given to Mr. 0. Stolen, on the afternoon of the 4th instant, from the dwelling- house of Thomas Scales, farm bailiff, of Hill Top, Dalton, Yorkshire, the following property, viz. : a Half- Sovereign, and 8s. in Silver; a pair of black cloth Trousers, lined with white twill, bound round the top with black braid, and brown bone buttons ; a black cloth Vest, lined with yellow calico, black back, and buttons close up with hook and eye at the top, and black round buttons. By three men who entered the house under the pretence of begging a drink of water: two of them about 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, and dressed in old black cloth coats, and grey caps : the other, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, much pockpitted, and dressed in an old fustian sleeved vest, fustian or cord trousers, and cap. Description of THOMAS TEMPLE ROBINSON, who absconded from Rushyford on the evening of the SOth ultimo embezzling a large sum of money belonging to Sir William Eden, of Windlestone Hall, Bishop Auckland. He is about 50 years of age, upwards of 6 feet high, dark florid complexion, rather full dark eyes, dark hair, bald on top of head, small whiskers, bridge of nose broken, and dressed like a gentlemau farmer, has been a land agent, and has a gentlemanly appear- ance. He may attempt to leave the country. He took the train at Leamside Station the same night, for the south ; he had with him a small light- coloured Carpet Bag, and a small square black box; and was dressed in dark clothes, and a dark loose paletot. Absconded from Stone, Staffordshire, on the 30th ultimo, charged with stealing a Ham, the property of William Minshall Dutton, innkeeper, of St one, VERNON FOGG, stonemason, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark hair and eyes, sallow complexion, smart appearance; dressed in stonemason's clothing; is of dissipated habits ; and will be found on some large piece of work. He may be accompanied by his wife, who is stout and of Very sallow complexion, and two daughters, about 17 and 13 years of age. Layton ( who has absconded) is of the following de- scription, viz.: about 5 feet 104 inches high, stoutly made, bald- headed, hair turning grey, no whiskers, red rough face, pitted with smallpox, has a mole on small of back, second finger of left hand is very large, about 40 years of age, and dressed in a suit of black clothes. He has friends at Tollbud, Tipton, Tividale, and Quarry Bank, Staffordshire, and in York- shire,, near Sheffield. It is thought he will make to some sea- port town for Australia or America. A woman, calling herself ELEANOR WILLIAMS, also known by the name of MADDISON, stands committed for trial at Sleaford quarter sessions to be held on the 10th instant, charged with obtaining money under false pretences. She is a hawker of inferior lace, which she sells as Valenciennes or Maltese manufacture, and describes herself as the widow of a soldier, with four children, which is untrue. She is about 46 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, rather stout, bloated countenance from drink, dark hair and eyes, is a native of Glasgow, and generally dresses in a straw bonnet with light green ribbon, check or plaid shawl, and carries a small reticule with ' Eleanor Williams, Licenced Hawker,' labelled on the side. FELONIES ( Not otherwise describedJ. Description of a man charged with an attempt to commit a rape,, at Stretton, near Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire, at 7.30 p. m. on tbe 7th instant. He is 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light brown hair, small sandy whiskers, florid complexion; dressed in velveteen jacket, corduroy trousers, brown cloth cap, and nailed boots : has the appear- ance of a labourer in search of employment. Information to be given to Mr. Chief Superintendent Bergen, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, April 9. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Absconded from the Waterloo Station, London and South- western Railway, on the 8th instant, a lad of the following description, who is charged with obtaining money under false pretences. He is about 16 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, dark hair, fair complexion, slightly marked with the smallpox, and dressed when last seen in a black frock coat, corduroy trousers, plain mackintosh, shiny cap, police Wel- lington boots, and blue striped shirt. It is thought he may try to go to sea. He is well known in Marshall- street, London- road, Southwark, where his father resides. Information to be given to Mr. Bent, Inspector, Waterloo Station, London.— Bow- street, April 14. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Apprehended at Southampton, on the 10th instant, charged with committing a burglary at a public- house, THOMAS JACKSON, describes himself as a groom, 36 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, whiskers inclined to be sandy under his chin, has the appearance of a labourer in an ironfoundry, states that he belongs to Man- chester. His wife is now in Holloway Prison, in the name of Jones. On his person was found forty- one small skeleton keys and eleven double skeletons for opening street and inner doors of houses. It is supposed that he has committed offences elsewhere. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent J. T. Enriglit, Southampton.— Bow- street, April 14. Left his home at Worcester, on the 25th ult., WILLIAM PRICE, about 11 years of age, very slight, tall for his age, has dark hazel eyes with dark spot on right eyelid, black hair, pale complexion ;, he was dressed in dark cloth jacket and trousers. As his mother was in London when he left, it is probable that he may have endeavoured to go there, or that some ill lias befallen him. Stolen, from a draper's shop at Worsley, near Manchester, between 11.30 p. m. on the 9th and 7 a. m. on the 10th instant, 3 lbs. of Tobacco in a brown paper, six pairs of men's blue worsted Stockings, six pairs of boys' ditto, twelve pairs of children's blue Socks with white tops, and twelve cotton Pocket- liandkerchiefs with blue ground and white spots. Description of two men committed for further examination at Paisley on a charge of uttering Forged £ 1 Notes, pur- porting to be of the National Bank of Scotland. One, GEORGE McDONALD, says he is a hawker or dealer, and a native of England, but is* most likely an Irishman, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, 126 lbs. weight, light brown hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion, long face, small sandy whiskers, downcast look, and slender figure; dressed in a close fitting blue overcoat nearly new, dark cloth coat, vest, and trousers much worn, and a fashionable Naples felt hat. The other, EDWARD CHARLESWORTH, says he is a dealer, and a native of Plymouth, speaks with the London accent, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, 135 lbs. weight, dark hair and eyes, sallow complexion, round face, whiskers shaved off, and proportionate figure; dressed in a light grey rough overcoat, dark cloth coat very shabby, dark cloth vest and trousers, and black silk hat. It is suspected that these men have been previously convicted or may have committed offences elsewhere. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent G. Ingram, Burgh Police Office, County Buildings, Paisley.— Bow- street, April 14. Description of a man committed to take his trial at the Quarter Sessions to be held at Beverley, in the East Riding of York, for Felony, and stroDgly suspected of being previously convicted. He gives the name of THOMAS JONES, a native of Tealby, near Lincoln, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair and whiskers ( meeting under the chin, but shaved off the face), has a cast on the left eye, and the nail on the first finger of the left hand is disfigured, states he is a labourer and has been tramping the country for some time in search of work; dressed in dark mixture cloth coat, no vest, fustian trousers, red and white plaid scarf^ strong lace- up boots, and a blue woollen Scotch cap witl) peak, such as are worn by stablemen. He is supposed to have been accompanied by another man in the commission of the robbery, who has absconded ; he is des- cribed as about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slenderly made, dark hair, and no whiskers ; dressed in a fustian coat, dark trousers and cap, and strong boots which are supposed to have 8 rows of nails at the bottoms and 14 very large nails round the heels, and 4 nails in the centre of the heels, he is a labourer, and supposed to be a native of Norfolk. Description of three men commitled to Gloucester Gaol for one month, for attempting to pick pockets on the Cheltenham race- course on the 9th instant, viz.: JOHN WISHINGTON, 5 feet 6 inches high, light brown hair, hazel eyes, fair com- plexion, and dressed in a bowler hat, black jacket, dark fustian trousers, long leather leggings, and waterproof overcoat; JAMES MANTON, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, fair complexion, slight scar on right cheek- bone, and dressed in a black hat, black jacket, mixture trousers, brown Inverness eape, and a pair of black leather leggings; and JAMES WILLIAMS, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown liair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, and dressed in a black hat, black frock coat, and black trousers. On the 6th instant the body of a man, name unknown, was made, but bare of flesh ; dressed in a long white slop or smock, two waistcoats ( one a fustian and the other a blue and white stripe), good cord trousers, and lace- up boots nearly new, had the appearance of a decent labouring man. A man of a similar description was seen near the canal on the night of the 17th ult., he then stated he had been lodging in Birmingham, and had been to Evesham to see some relations, that he had walked back through Worcester, and was making his way to Birmingham. Description of JANE TUCK, a domestic servant, who has absconded, charged on a warrant with concealing the birth of her illegitimate child, at the parish of Wimborne, Dorset, in the month of February last. She was last heard of in London on the 4th ins: ant, applying for a situation at a register office for servants in Holborn. It.' and heart on left; dressed in brown mixture cloth vest, monkey jacket, black cloth trousers, red and white cotton neckerchief, glazed cap with peak, and Wellington boots, he has served in the 2nd Stafford Militia. JAMES HARRISON, 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, fresh complexion, whiskers shaven off, has lost several front teeth from the upper jaw, 1B.' on thumb of left hand ; dressed in blue monkey jacket, cord trousers, red and white silk neckerchief, dark cloth cap with peak, and Wellington boots. He had in his possession a pocket- book with the name ' David Coade' inside fly- leaf, and a card of the London Society of Compositors in one of the pockets, a pair of black steel- mounted spectacles, and about £ 1 8s. in silver. It is feared some ill has befallen him, or that he has met with some foul treatment. He was last seen in Shoe- lane, Fleet- street, when lie stated he should go in search of an omnibus to proceed home. Description of a woman committed on the 9th instant, for trial, charged with larceny and obtaining goods by false pre- tences, at Birkenhead : SARAH FRANCES HEALEY, 18 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown wavy hair, grey eyes; dressed in a black and white plaid dress, small pattern, a new Paisley shawl of the newest pattern, and a mixed straw bonnet, trimmed with black silk and beads. Had in her possession a double black paramatta Shawl, trimmed with black stamped silk, a pawn ticket for a pair of Boots, and another for a silk Umbrella, both pledged at Preston on the 5th instant. Description of a man, who gives the name of GEORGE HARRIS, and states he is a native of Melksham, Wilts, and a cabinetmaker by trade ( which is supposed to be false). He is 38 or 39 years of age, 5 feet 5f inches high, rather short straight dark brown hair turning grey, florid complexion, face covered with pimples, little or no whiskers; dressed in a dark coat and vest, dirty cord trousers, low shoes, red and black plaid woollen shirt, clean white paper collar turning over a black silk necktie, aud black wide- awake hat. He states that he came from Southampton ; and a pawn- ticket was found in his possession of a pair of boots, pledged, in the name of A. Coombs, at the shop of L. Goldsmid, No. 103, High- street, Southampton, oil the lst of April. He is charged with obtaining money under false pretences in the city of Salisbury, and is remanded. Description of CHARLES HUNT, a man of weak intel- lect, who left Windsor on the 4th instant with the intention of proceeding to his home, No. 7, Floyd- court, Fetter- lane, Hol- born, and has not since been heard of. He is 42 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, swarthy complexion, and long black hair; dressed in brown coat, black trousers and vest, black hat, blucher boots, and plaid necktie. Information to be given to Mr. Super intendent Richatdson, Wellington, Salop.— Bow- street, April 9 Stolen, during the night of the 3rd instant, from an out- building at William Davies's lodging- house, Little Stretton, in the parish of Church Stretton, the property of Eausten Gready, eight Sheepskins, one is black and one has a little wool off near the tail : supposed by an Irishman, who goes by the name of LITTLE JIMMY, 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, cut across the nose ; dressed in cotton cord trousers, dark coat and vest, and black cap with peak, and had with him a pair of old cord trousers. He is well known at Shrewsbury and Ludlow, and has been convicted at the former place. A carpet- bag was found near where the skins were stolen from on the morning of the 4th instant, which is identified as being the property and seen near the place in the possession of this man on the 3rd instant.
