Between 8 and 9 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, some person or persons wilfully set fire to two wheat ricks, situate in a rickyard, at Inkberrow, Worcestershire, whereby they were both destroyed, the property of Miss Elizabeth Rand. Infor- mation to be given to John Bevan, Superintendent of Police, 1 Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. — Bow- street, March 8. During the night of the lst instant, the out- buildings in the occupation of Mr. Lush Vickers, Bangor, containing a quantity of hay, straw, and beans; the live stock, consisting of ^ welve cows and three horses ; and about forty tons of hay and ^ iAjtr, stored in stacks in the adjoining stackyard, were totally destroyed by fire. Supposed to be the act of an incendiary. Information to be given to Inspector Bolton, Flintshire Con- stabulary, Hanmer.— Bow- street, March G. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between the hours of 2 and C a. m. on the Srd instant, the house of Mrs. Palmer, of Buntingford, Herts, was broken into, during the absence of the family, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz. : a silver Gravy Spoon, marked ' E. ;' six Table Spoons, marked ' D.' or ' G.;' six Dessert ditto, marked ' L. ; ' six Tea ditto; five ditto, maiked ' J. M. G. ;' a ditto, marked ' M. G. ;' two ditto, marked < E. G.;' six Table Forks ; four Salt Cellars, one pair marked ' T. M.;' four Knife Rests; a Caddy Spoon, marked ' L. ;' five Salt Spoons; twelve plated Forks ; a pair of plated Gravy Ladles ; two pair of plated Sugar Tongs, one pair marked ' E. G.;' a pair of plated Dessert Spoons; some old Rings; a plated Cake Basket; a plated Liquor Stand; a plated Watch Chain ; six Tea Spoons; a Table Spoon ; a new black cloth Over Coat, large size ; and a silk Pocket Handkerchief, buff centre, and red border. Sup- posed by two men : one is about 36 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, walks uprightly, black hair, whiskers shaved off, and dressed in dark clothes, is a shoemaker by trade ; the other is 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, black hair and whiskers, and dressed in dark clothes, he is a tinman by trade. During the night of the lst instant, or early on the follow- ing morning the house of the Rey, J. Hayworth, at Westbury- on- Trym, was burglariously entered i- nd the following property stolen therefrom : two silver Table Spoons, marked ' J. W.;' an electro- plated Tea- pot, figured patt'ern; twdve ditto Tea Spoons; one ditto Sugar Tongs ;• one Pocket Pistol, flint lock, makers Dunderdale, Mabson, and Labron ; one Sovereign and 4s. 9d. in Silver and Copper. £ 10 vewpd will'be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. On the night of the 4tli, or morning of the 5th instant, the house of Mr. Yeoman, Military- road, Canterbury, was entered by removing a window, and the following property was stolen therefrom : a silver Hunting Watch ; a Sovereign and lis. in Silver ; a blue pilot monkey Jacket; a large plaid Coat; a sleeve Waistcoat ; a pair of shepherd's plaid ^ Trousers ; two pairs of cloth ditto : two pairs of Shoes ( one pair newly half- soled) ; a black long tailed Coat; two silk Handkerchiefs ; a brown felt Hat., ' narrow round crown, broad brim ; and a quantity of Cigars. By two soldiers of the 64th regiment, one French the other American. Information to be given to Super- intendent Davies, City Police, Canterbury. — Bow - street, March 8. FORGERY. - 1* I Description of a man charged with passing a forged £ 10 Bank of England Note at Alcester, Warwickshire, on the 23rd ultimo. He is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, and black hair and whiskers; dressed in dark clothes, black liat, and lace- up boots with brass eyelet holes. * The note is dated October 16th, 1860, and signed ' W. P. Gattie;' iE% ras passed by sending a little boy whom he met in the street \ for cattle medicine and 2 lbs. of tea to a grocer's shop kept by Mr. H. T L - vis, High street, Alcester. "*' - 1 Description of two persons charged with highway robbery with violence, committed on the nLht of the 25th ultimo in Brighouse, in the West Riding of Yorkshire. A man who goes by the name of DUBLIN JACK, alias FIFER JACK, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stoutly built, broad shoulders, swarthy complexion, dark hair, and whiskers down to chin but do not meet, and dressed in cotton cord trousers, dark drab, partly worn, old brown cloth shooting coat, blue striped shirt,, no waistcoat, black and red plaid scarf, and boot with brass eyelet holes, but not laced up to the top ; he plays upon a fife, and frequents low ptiblic and beer houses ; and a woman, who goes by the name of POLLY, about 30 years of age, 6 feet high, stoutly built, pale complexion, " Ihtly pockmarked, brown hair, and dressed in a silk and •: raj\ e black drawn bonnet, black and white plaid shawl, middle- izejLpattern, print dress, white ground with lilac flower, and boots ; she is supposed to be in company with ' Dublin . The house of Mr. Lea Foden, timber dealer, Macclesfield, was burglariously broken into during the night of the 5th instant, and the following artiqjfi'of Wearing Apparel stolen therefrom, viz. : a black cloth Sack Coat, with velvet coller, two outside hip pockets, and one outside breast ditto ; a black cloth single- breasted Over Coat, pockets in the seams, and a small ticket pocket; a blue mixture Shooting Jacket, two outside pockets, and one inside breast ditto ; a black cloth single- breasted Over Coat, with fly front, much worn; a black cloth Dress Coat, large size, much worn ; a blue pilot sack Over Coat, two hip pockets, one ticket ditto, and one inside breast ditto ; a woollen Scarf Shawl, red ground, green border, and fringe ; a black silk Hat, marked ' L. F.' with black lead inside ; a Measuring Tape, in bright coloured case ; three gold Shirt Studs ; and an old- fashioned silver Cream Jug, marked with the letter ' B.' Between the hours of 2 and 6 a. m. on the 6th instant, the shop of Mr. John Butterfield, watch and clock maker, Shipley, near Bradford, Yorkshire, was burglariously broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz., twelve silver Watches, and four silver Watch Cases, of the following descrip- tion : 1 lever Hunting Watch, with white dial, sunk seconds, four holes jewelled, ' Patent' engraved on- the cock, No. 5030, with hour hand only, moon pattern, pearly k / new. vl patent lever Watch, heavy cased, hard enamelled dial, sunk seconds, with the words ' Patent detatched lever' on the face, fancy hands, and No. 4065. 1 pair- cased lever Watch, with hard enamelled dial, fancy hands, and No. 47,955. 1 plain lever Watch, with hard enamelled dial. 1 plain lever Watch, second- hand, with the dial broken in the centre, and sunk seconds. 1 duplex Watch, large size, with moon hands, and the word ' Duplex ' scratched on tlie movement with a sharp instrument, and hard enamelled dial, without seconds. 1 second- hand consular Watch, without seconds, an old movement having been re- cased with consular cases. 1 second- hand pair- cased verge Watch, large size, with the dial cracked. 1 second- hand lever Watch, without balance wheel, hard enamelled dial. * 1 small second- hand Geneva Watch, silver dial, painted figures, with blue steel moon, hand, with gold moon hand and seconds. 1 second- hand Geneva lever Watch, withput cock and balance wheel. A pair of silver cases. A small silver Geneva Case. A small silver lever Case. A middle- sized silver lever Case. ( All cases engine- turned except the pair- cased ones.) 1 hard enamelled dial lever Watch, fleur- de- lis, without cock and jewel cover, and inside chain. £ 5 reward will be paid for such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property, or a _ roportionate sum will be given for the recovery of any part, thereof. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Copeland, West Riding Constabulary, Court House, Bradford.— Bow- street, March 8. Between 9 a. m. on the 3rd, and 7 a. m. on the 4th instant, the Church School at Coolay, in the township of Shelf, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, was entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz. : an American Clock, small size, with a snip on the lower part of the case ; and eighteen framed Slates, of various sizes ; the property of the Rev. Mr. Waun. Entrance was effected by means of breaking a window. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Henry Wardle, West Riding Constabulary, Halifax, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, March 6. Description of a man wanted, having committed a burglary at West Ham on the night of the 21st January last. He is 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, stoops, turns his toes out when walking, and dressed in a dark monkey jacket, cord trousers, and black cloth cap with peak,— Metropolitan Police, K Division, March 6. Box, Superintendent of Police, Staple Hill, near Bristol.— Bow- street, March 6. On the night of the 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of J. Clarke, Esq., Chester- road, Macclesfield, was burglariously broken into, and the following ( amongst other) property- stolen therefrom : a large silver plated Candlestick ; a small ditto ; a silver Top to mustard pot and Spoon ; two black cloth Overcoats, large size ; a black cloth Frock Coat, ditto ; a black silk Hat with brown lining, maiked ' Paris'; a pair of - men's Shoes, large size; a pair ot patent leather Slippers ; a pail- of women's black cloih Boots, elastic sides, patent'leather fronts ; a brown mixture cloth lady's Paletot, lined down the front with black lutestring, bound with brown galoon, black figured silk sleeve linings ; a brown silk Umbrella with brown stick handle; a dark brown alpaca ditto with bamboo cane; and two dark alpaca ditto with white bone handles. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, on application to Mr. Etchells, Superintendent of Police, Mac- clesfield, Cheshire, to whom any information may be given.— Bow- street, March 6. Between 1 and 2 p. m. on the 26th ultimo, a cottage at Beoley, Worcestershire, in the occupation of William Kyte, was forcibly entered through a back window, during the absence of the inmates, and the following property stolen therefrom : a black cloth vest; a pair of dark cloth trousers; a black and red plaid Scarf; a strong white Smockfrock ; a pair of light lace- up Shoes ; a lilac cotton Dress ; a white Cashmere Shawl with red border ; two black crape Scarfs ; a black orlean Cape trimmed with crape ; a blue and white plaid bundle Handkerchief; and a pair of goloshes. Information to be given at the . Police Office, King's Heath, near Birmingham. — Bow- street, March 4. Between 8 and 9 p. m. on the lst instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs, Swindells, in the borough of Macclesfield, was broken into during the absence of the inmates, and the following articles stolen: three plain siiver Table Spoons, fiddle pattern ; two old- fashioned silver Tea Spoons, one with embossed handle, the other plain; a silver Fruit Knife, with imitation toi- toisesheirhandle ; a silver Thimble, a Sovereign, and 8s. in silver. Information to be given to James Etchells, Chief Superintendent of Police, Town Hall, Macclesfield.— Bow- street, March 4. Between the hours of 6and 8 p. m. on the 27th ultimo, the sitting room of Mr. C. Hobday, Birchfield, Perry Barr, w: 5 hair; whiskers, and walks erectly; dressed in an old black cloth waistcoat aud dress coat ( swallow tail), black cord trousers, and cloth cap ; he is a painter, a native of West Drayton, Middle- sex, and has lately been employed at Swan Village, Oldbury, and West Bromwich. Supposed to have been stolen, within the last month or five weeks, from a field in the township of Norton, in the West Biding of Yorkshire, the property of Mr. Robert Marsh, of Campsall, farmer, twenty Tup Hog Sheep, in good condition, all marked on, the near side with red paint, part of them have the tip of the near ear cut off, and a snip out of the same ear. They have been on turnips with other sheep, and have been in charge of a shepherd who has neglected to count them. Further information respecting the robbery from the saddle- room of Mr. Gill's trainer, Richmond, Yorkshire, adver- tised in the Police Gazette of the 7th December last and,, subsequent dates. The drab cloth overcoat, black cloth corduroy trousers, leather leggings, half boots, and the SslnS- marked ' II' were all found secreted beneath a quantity of stones a short distance from the place on the 31st ultimo1. BADGER, alias GINGER, the stable- boy suspected, was seen to come from the direction of the place where the above articles were found on the 12th ultimo, and has not been seen or heard of since. About noon of the 1st, iiistant one of the prisoner's entered Mr. Furber's shop, purchased a box of leads, and asked for a £ 5 note in change for five sovereigns, whereupon Mr. Furber went to his cash box, and, on producing a note, the man exclaimed, ' Never mind ; don't trouble. I have one at home ;" and left the shop. In a short time another of the prisoners drove up in a cab, called Mr. Furber out, and got him to examine his Albert chain as he sat in the cab : while this was going on, the first man re- entered the shop, and stole the cash box. At Gloucester, one of the prisoners entered Mr. Elliott's shop, purchased a scarf, and tendered a £ 5 note in payment. When the assistant reached the cash box to give change, the man exclaimed, ' Never mind, 1 have got some silver he then paid for it, and left the shop. In about five minutes he returned with another of tjie prisoners, and asked the assistant ( a female) to show them a scarf ; she went out to the front of the shop for that purpose, and while so engaged, the third prisoner Walked into the shop, and stole the cash box. Information to be given to Mr. Charles Griffin, Superintendent of Police, Glou- cester.— Bow- street, March 8. years of age, 4 feet 3 inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, full face, and low forehead ; he can read, and states that he has been travelling with his father, a tramp, who is about 60 years of age, and his companion, a female, from his infancy, that he was deserted by these persons at Cambridge, about four months ago, and that about that period, in company with them, the following robberies were committed, viz.; tRev stole 9s. 6d. from a till at a draper or clothier's shop fit the railway end of the town of Cambridge ; a Coat, a pair or Trousers, and a Hat, from a farm house at St. Ives, which clothing the man is now wearing ; a pair of Trousers, and a Hat, at Ware, Herts, sold at Royston ; and that he, the prisoner, stole, very recently, a Sixpence from a shop at Doddington, near March : he describes his father as a tall man, with fresh complexion, dark hair and whiskers, wearing cord trousers, fustian coat, and cap : the woman he also describes as lall and thin, with paie complexion. Description of GEORGE WHITE, who is committed for trial at the assizes to be holden for the city of Norwich, on the 23rd instant, charged with highway robbery with violence. He states that he is a tailor by trade, and a native of Bury St. Edmunds, 21 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, sallow com- plexion, dark curly hair, and brown eyes, has three small scars on the forehead, a mole on the joint of left arm, scar on inside of left thumb, two mole spots on neck, and one on the left shoulder ; dressed in an old dark mixture cloth coat, marked 3ULP& GM'in the right sleeve, black undercoat, with- out sleeves, grey cloth trousers, and red silk scarf. He has travelled through the midland counties, and frequents low lodging- houses. Also the description of COLEMAN CRESS- WELL, who is committed for trial at the sessions to be holden for the city of Norwich, on the 22nd instant, charged with larceny. He is 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, grey eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, high cheek- bones, small visage, a scar on left eye, one on forehead, one on left knee, and one on the back of left hand ; dressed in a black cloth frock coat, black vest, and brown mixture trousers. He carries a black bag, states he was born in Lambeth, and that he is by trade a tailor. The above prisoners are supposed to have been previously convicted of felcny. And ANN ALEXANDER, 40 years of age ( but looks older, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, dark eyes, light brown hair ; dressed in a green plaid dross bound with velvet, large scarf shawl, black clotli cloak bound with velvet, violet and black terry velvet bonnet, with black feather. In their possession were found a quantity of pawnbrokers' duplicates of watches, rings, chains, & c., pledged at Bath, Landport, Portsea, and South- ampton. Escaped from the Town Gaol at Nottingham, late on the night of the 3rd instant, or earlv on the next morning, a man of the name of JAMES WRIGHT, alias JAMES LOSEBY, alias RICHARD JAMES CROSS ; lie is a native of Lough- borough, and is a ticket- of- leave man, having been convicted at the adjourned sessions for the county of Leicester, in March, 1852, and sentenced to fifteen years' penal servitude for house- breaking at Loughborough; he is now under a sentence of three calendar months from the 12th February last, under the Vagrant Act. Description : 5 feet 5f inches high, fresh com- plexion, brown hair, light hazel eyes, and has a scar on the upper and lower lips ( right side), opposite each other, apparently made by the same cut. £ 2 reward will be paid to any person who will lodge said James Wright in any of Her Majesty's gaols, or other place of security, or give such information as will lead to his recapture. He had in his possession a screw- driver, a large knife, and a bunch of keys, lie says he came from Wolverhampton, but refuses to give any further account of himself. He speaks the West of England accent; is well acquainted with prison discipline, and it is suspected that he has been previously convicted. He is 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pale complexion, sandy hair, grey eyes, oval visage, and of slender make ; dressed in black cloth jacket, trousers, and vest, eureka woollen shirt, black jimcrow hat, and blucher boots; states that he is a native of Newcastle, Staffordshire, which place he left abont five months since, and by trade a designer. He was accompanied by a woman of the following description, who stated that she was his wife: 29 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, long visage, pockmarked face, and dressed in plaid shawl, brown stuff dress, and velvfet bonnet witli green flowers in front ; she is a native of Manchester. They travel the country under the pretence of selling ladies' fancy belts. It is strongly suspected that he has committed offences else- where.
