Charged with arson, at Wisbeach, in the Isle of Ely, JOHN CHACE, alias CHERRY, labourer, and occasionally employed as a bricklayer's labourer, age 16, height 5 feet 1 inch, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, simple- looking, and smooth- spoken. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. Benjamin Eason, Chief Super- intendent of Borough • Police, Wisbeach, Isle of Ely.— Bow- street, Februaiy 25, On the night of the 31st ultimo, some person or persons set fire to a Wheat Stack in the rick- yard of Mr. Joseph Chattaway, Park Hall Farm, Salford Priors, Warwickshire, whereby two wheat stacks and a bean stack were destroyed. £ 100 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dunbar, Chester.— Bow- street, February 18. Mr. Superintendent Burridge, Ross, Herefordshire. — Bow- street, February 20. Stolen, from the person of a gentleman, in the borough of Oldham, Lancashire, on the 16th instant, a silver verge Watch No. 2046. Also, on the same day, a silver lever Watch. In- fo mation to be given to Mr. Lee, Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bow- street, February 20. The three men advertised in the Police Gazette of the 18th instant, as having absconded from Dartford, Kent, charged with assaulting George West, and stealing from his person the sum of 18s. 9d., have been apprehended.— Bow- street, Feb. 20. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the morning of the 18th instant, the body of a full- grown Male Child, was found in the General Church Cemetery, situate at the top of Mansfield- road, in the borough of Notting- ham, wrapped in an old white apron. An inquest was held on the body pn the 10th Instant, at the Police Station, when a verdict of' Wilful Murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Mr. Joseph Hedington, Chief Constable, Borough Police Station, Notting- ham.— Bow- street, February 22. FORGERY. jii Description of three men who are charged with passing three forged £ 5 Bank of England Notes, at Cleator Moor, Cumberland, on the evening of the 9th instant. One, age about 30, height 5 feet 7 or 8 inches, fresh complexion, high cheek bones, 1 sandy hair turned a little up behind, little or no whiskers; dressed in a dark cloth cap, brown cloth shooting coat, vest, and trousers; spoke with the Scotch accent. The others, age about 26 or 27, height 5 feet 8 or 9 inches; dressed in moleskin clothes, and had the appearance of labourers : one of them had a black mark below the right eye. The notes they uttered are dated and numbered— 21st March, 1860, No. 83165 ; 21st March, 1860, No. 70839; 11th December, 1860, No. 91103. Information to be given to Superintendent J. Little, Con- stabulary Office, Whitehaven, or at the County Chief Con- stalrier'a Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, February 25. Warrants are issued for the apprehension of two men who absconded, charged ( with another in custody) with shooting Vji wounding one of the gamekeepers of the Duke of Wel- lfflgton, in the parish of Hilborough, on the night of the lst instant. Description— ABRAHAM PAYNE, alias SOLER, labourer, of Watton, at times works in brickyards, and is a regular poacher. He is about 30 years of age, nearly 5 feet 9 inches high, thinly made, very upright, nearly bald on the top of head, dark curly hair behind, dark whiskers, sallow complexion, grey eyes, and generally dresses in cord trousers, a slop, blue guernsey, or old blue greatcoat, and cap or chummy. GEORGE PAYNE, alias PILOT, shoemaker and labourer, of the same parish, also a regular poacher, is in the habit of tramping through the country, and sometimes begs, may be found in the company of prostitutes and at low lodpng- liouses and public- houses; he is about 35 years of age, nearly , ... 5 feet 6 inches high, thinly made, sandy complexion, light j Mr. Burton, Superintendent of Police, Dudley, Worcestershire. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM ' THE PERSON. Stolen on the 20th instant from the person of a gentleman, at the door of the ' King's Head' public- house, Crown- street, Soho, a gold open- face Watch , white dial, seconds, Leamington on works, with small gold link Chain attached. By a man about 5 feet high, dark curly hair, pockmarked, and dressed^ n a dark beaver coat, black cord trousers, arid black velvet cap with peak.— Metropolitan Poliie, CDivision, February 25. Description of a man who absconded on the morning of the 19th instant, after violently assaulting and robbing Paul Millard, at. the Buffery water- engine, Dudley, of a silver verge Watch with a silver Guard attached, Ed ward Collier' engraved on inside case; a Sovereign ; and 22s. in Silver. He is a collier, a native of Dudley, age. about .30,, height about 5 feet 9 inches, broad shouldered, Squints very badly, a wart on one cheek, light'brown hair and whiskers, tuft of hair under chin; generally dlessed in blue pilot jacket, rough blue or cord trousers, and dark cap with peak. He has recently returned from transportation. Information to be given to brown hair, bald on the top of head, small whiskers, has a! They are brothers, and may or may not be travelling together ; Soler is supposed to have in his possession an air- cane, which he may sell or pledge, and may also have with him a large light- coloured lurcher dog with black muzzle. £ 50 reward is offered for information that shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offenders. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Lambley, Swafi'ham, Norfolk.— Bow- street, February 18. Further information respecting the navvy called LANK, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 23rd ultimo, charged with shooting with intent to do grievous bodily harm, at Stoke Edith, county of Hereford -. he is still at large, his name is supposed to be WILLIAM JOHNSON, and he is supposed to be now at work at or near Belper, Derbyshire. All reasonable expenses will be paid upon his apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent C. R. Wilson, Shire Hall, Hereford.— Bow- street, February 15. Further information respecting the man who absconded from Ludlow, Salop, on the morning of the 27th ultimo, charged with then and there cutting and wounding Joseph Phillips, with intent to murder or do him some grievous bodily harm : his name is JOHN GITTINS, age about 23, height about 5 feet ij inches, deeply pockpitted ; dressed when he absconded in a plp'd jacket, waistcoat, and cap of the same material and woollen* cord trousers: it is likely that he may have changed his dress. He is by trade a machine maker, and worked for a man named Dent at Brimfield, near Ludlow ; his father is now living at Llandrinio, Montgomeryshire, by trade a tailor. Gittins is fond of drink, and very talkative when in a public- house. It is thought that he will endeavour to emigrate to Australia or America ; he has worked at Kidder- minster, to which place he may be gone ; or to an implement maker's, near Nantwich, Cheshire, in search of employment. Information to be given to Mr. Henry Biggs, Superintendent, Ludlow, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and will pay all reasonable expenses.— Bom- street, February 11. Metropolitan Police, E Division, February 20. Stolen on ihe 17th instant, from a gentleman, while in York- street, Commercial- road East, an open- face silver Watch, silver dial, gilt figures, plain cases, maker Williams, London, No. 9478. By two men, one about 26 years of age, short, round face, black whiskers, and dressed in black frock coat and hat: the other about 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slender, little whiskers, and dressed in dark clothes and cap.— Metropolitem Police, II Division, February 20, Stolen from the person of a man, 011 the road near Killhead, in the parish of Cummertrees, Dumfries- shire, 011 the afternoon of the 14th instant, five £ 1 Notes of the Com- mercial Bank of Scotland, by two men and. a woman of the following description. JAMES BROWN, alias JIM BROWN, alias TIIOMSON, a travelling glazier, ancl frequently attends, fairs, age about 26, height 5 feet 8 or 9 inches, ordinary make, sandy hand and whiskers which are long and meet under the chin, rather sallow complexion, pockpitted ; dressed jn a dark cloth cap with peak, dark clothes, lace- up boots, afid wore a white apron round waist. PETER McSHANE, an itinerant glazier, age about 23, height 5 feet 6 or 7 inches,, full, face, black liair, no whiskers, and stoutly made ; dressed in a black I cloth cap with peak, dark coat, light corduroy trousers, and lace- up boots. ANN McKAY or McSHANE, wife of the last mentioned, age 25 or 26, middle height, freckled- face, and rather stoutly made; dressed in a white straw bonnet, green tartan gown, reddish tartan shawl, red . arid bine or fcflaqk striped petticoat. They all speak with the Cumberland accent, have all resided for some time in Carlisle, and are well known to the police there. Information to be given to John Jones, Chief Constable, Dumfries- shire, Dumfries.— Bow- street, February 20. Stolen, from the person of John Powell, of Goodrich, Herefordshire, on the 15th ultimo, a pair- cased old- fashioned silver Watch, small size, maker Edward lleinmen, London, No. 10,544; and 15s. in Silver. Information to be given to BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. On the night of the 19th instant, the cellar of the Rev. H. Ford, Foxiialls, was entered by removing a small iron bar from the door, and from ten to fifteen Pint Bottles of Ale stolen therefrom, some of which was found in a straw stack close by, lS; the following day ; also on the same night, the Dairy of Mr. Thomas Waters, farmer, Foxhalls, was entered by break- ing a square of glass in- the window, and a quantity of cooked Beef and Pork stolen, some of which was found in Mr. Foster's straw stack, the following day, supposed, by two men, one of whom lias been apprehended and remanded, the other is at large, and is welLknown in the East Riding, by the name of SLENDERMAN,' alias SURCHER, a wold ranger :- Descrip- tion as follows, 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light hair, and ginger coloured whiskers ; dressed in a black cloth oap, fustian shooting coat, blue guernsey frock, cord trousers, lace- up boots, and white- ribbed stockings. Information to be given to Superintendent Harper, East, Riding Constabulary, Norton.— Bow- street, Feb •. try 25. On the 20th instant, the cottage of Amos Winchester, near the Seven Thorns, Hindhead, iu the parish of i'eversham, was entered by forcing tfie window, aim the foUowing property stolen therefrom, viz. :— a large black Overcoat, a basket of Oranges, and about 10s. in silver. Information to be given to C. Hollington, Surrey Constabulary, Favnham.— Bow- street, February 25. Between 9 p. m. on the 21st and 5 a. m. on the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Daniel Pudifoot, Hog- lane Farm, Chesham, Bucks, was broken into and entered, by breaking a pane of glass and unfastening the catch, and the following articles of Wearing Apparel stolen : a common oil- cloth Overcoat, lined with the same kind of cloth as the outside only not oiled, with a row of dark horn or bone buttons and a coarse blue woollen collar, the property of the man- servant; a pair of black cloth Trousers, metal buttons, the name of ' S. Timpson, Berkhampstead,' stamped on them, lined all through with unbleached calico ; and a cotton Bundle Handkerchief, red ground with white spots, not hemmed, supposed a red border with white stripe, the property of Jonas Pudifoot. ELIZA WILLIAMS is now in custody on sus- picion, but the articles have not been found. Information to be given to Superintendent Hodgkinson, or the Inspector, Chesham, Bucks.— Bow- street, February 25. The house of Thomas Southam, of Brackley, in the county of Northampton, was entered on the 13th instant, by breaking a pane of glass and unfastening the window, and the following property stolen therefrom : a grey Top Coat, with two pockets outside, and a small ticket pocket; a pair- of old grey mixture Trousers, pieced at the bottom ; a pairpf strong nailed lace- up Boots, newly fronted; and a calico Shift, marked ' T. S.' with red cotton. Two tramps, who were begging in the neighbourhood, are suspected : one of them is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion and hair, and large dark whiskers; dressed in a dark blue pilot jacket, dark cord trousers, and black cap ; the other appeared a little younger, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, and small light whiskers ; dressed in moleskin jacket and trousers, and dark cap ; their clothing was very dirty, and both had the appearance of foundry men. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent F. Pannett, Towcester ; or to Inspector Thomas fleeps, Brackley, Nortliamp onshire, — Bow- street, February 22. On the evening of the 17th instant, the house and shop of Miss Bent, confectioner, of Wigan, was entered, by means of picking the lock of the door, during the absence of* the family at church, and the following articles stolen therefrom, viz.: 1 gold Ring, set with six- stones, a ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, & c. 1 gold Ring, set with six or seven white stones or brilliants. 1 silver verge Watch, maker Joseph Potts, Golborne No. 393. ' 1 massive gold Guard Chain, Belsliaw pattern, had attached a gold Key, with a purple stone on one side, and a black one with a white mark across it on the other a gold Locket, and gold Seal. ' • 5 small- sized old- fashioned silver Tea Spoons, marked ' M. A. C.' ' 1 silk Umbrella, with ivory handle; and about 12s. in silver. Information to be given to Mr. William Simm, Chief Con- stable, Wigan.— Bow- street, February 22. Between the hours of 10 a. m. and ' 3 p. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling- house of a labourer named Geo. Cooper at Little Misbrooks, in the parish of Cuckfield, Sussex was broken into, by means of removing part of the back window o POLICE GAZETTE. Akehurst, Superintendent of Police, Cuckfield ; at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes ; or at any Police Station in East Sussex .— Bow- street, Feb. 22. On the evening of the 17th instant, between the hours of 6 and 8, the following articles were stolen from the dwelling- house of Mr. John Brown, farmer, Nayland, Suffolk ( th<. house • was entered by burglars during evening service) : 1 black Overcoat, nearly new. i Suit of brown speckled cloth. 3 pairs of Trousers. 1 drab Waistcoat, nearly new. 1 black silk Gown, with three flounces, trinimed with crape. 1 shepherd's plaid Shawl, small pattern, nearly new. 1 pair of silver Table Spoons, marked ' M. G.' 3 large Tea Spoons, marked ' S. S. C ;' 5 small ditte . old fashioned. 1 Dessert Spoon ; 1 Salt ditto. 1 flat silver hunting Watch ; 1 pinchbeck ditto, jewelled. 3 gold Brooches, two with light hair. 2 silver Pins, with light- coloured stones. 1 black Brooch, set in gold. 1 tortoiseshell case, with silver Bodkin, silver Toothpick, and steel Tweezers. r 1 old- fashioned silver Seal, wheatsheaf upon it; and a gold Ring, with yellow stone. Information to be given to P. C. Pickers, Nayland.— Bow- street, February 20. Description of JOHN DEAKIN, who is chavged with burglariously breaking into and entering the dwelling- house and shop of Mr. Cohen, on the 9th November last, and stealing x therefrom a number of gold Albert Watch Chains, gold Watch fGuards, and, gold Rings. He is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, has brown hair, which is generally cut short, grey eyes, sallow complexion, long thin features,- long nose, slightly built, small hands, and has lost a front tooth in the upper jaw ; he generally dresses well, and often carries an umbrella in a black canvass case. Information to be given to Mr. Jackson, Chief Constable, Town Hall, Sheffield, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 20. - Stolen from the dwelling- house of. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found, near Chesterfield, and, supposed to have been stolen, eight Woodland Sheep, and four Lambs, they are in very low condition, and the sheep appear to have belonged to different flocks. Information to be given to Superintendent Hunter, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, February 25. Supposed to have been stolen on the 21st instant, from a meadow at Hampstead Marshall, Berks, the property of Mr. John Shuttle, a grey Horse, about 13| hands high, aged, wall- eyed, and in pretty good condition. Information to be given to Mr. John Shuttle, Hampstead Marshall, or to Mr. William Henfield, Superintendent, Berks Constabulary, Spenhamland, Newbury.— Bow- street, February 25. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in the township of Wednesfield, during the night of the 18th instant, a dark bay Horse, 13 hands high, long switch tail, rough coat, 2 years old, the property of Mr. Wm. Done, of Wednesfield. Informa- tion to be given to Inspector Thompson, Willenhall, or to P. C. Thos. Cooper, Wednesfield Heath, near Wolverhampton, Staf- fordshire.— Bow- street, February 25. Stolen on the night of the 12th instant, from a stable at Tockington Park Farm, in the parish of Alveston, a brown bay cob Horse, 6 years old, about 15 hands high, black legs, short switch tail, has a small white star on forehead, a small white spot on the rump, and some white spots under the saddle, is in good condition, was clipped about two months since, the pro- perty of Mr. James King, who will pay a reward of £ 5 to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the horse. Information to be given to Mr. Thos. T. Gordon, Super- intendent, Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire. — Bow- street, February 2,*^ A reward of .£ 1 will be given for such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, and the recovery of the iron- grey Pony advertised in the Police Gazette of the lst instant and subsequent dates, as supposed to have been stolen, on the 10th ultimo, from Haverfordwest Marsh, in the parish of Uzmaston, Pembrokeshire. Informa- tion to be given to Captain A. B. O. Stokes, Chief Constable of Pembrokeshire ; or to George Evans, Police Sergeant, Chief Constable's Office, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.— Bow- street, February 20. London Docks, embezzling a £ 5 Bank of England Note, the property of George Jameson, a Prussian, seaman, 18 years of age, 5 feet high, fair complexion, and dressed in a blue frock and trousers.— Metropolitan Police, Thames Division, Feb. 25. Stolen on the 19th instant, from No. 213, Whitechapel- road, the property of William Goode, a silver hunting Watch, gilt figures, No. 9764, maker Hunt, Salisbury, with a gold Albert Chain attached. By one of the workmen, 24 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair hair and complexion, scar on left temple, and dressed in a black coat, vest, and trousers.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, February 25. Absconded on the 15th instant, from the employ of George John Butt, 23, Chicksand- street, Whitechapel, stealing l- 5s. in Coppers, a lad 15 years of age, 4 feet % inches high, fair com- plexion, light, hair, and dressed in, a- gord. jacket and vest,, black cloth cap, and blucher boots.— Metropolitan Polite, H Division, February 25. Absconded JAMES WILLIAM BONTOFT, late clerk in the bank of Messrs. Ciaypons, Garfit, & Co., Boston, Lincoln- shire, charged wjtji feloniously stealing certain Monies, and is known to be in- oT near London. Age about 33, height 5 feet 7 or 8 inches, light brown hair, beard growing under the chin, grey eyes, sallow complexion, long nose, looks down, rather stout, high shoulders, and walks quickly; dressed when he left Boston, on the 15th ultimo, in a dark or black coat with short body and long skirt, black vest, dark mixture trousers, and black hat; carried a black seal- skin cape and a small black leather bag.-( . Whoever will apprehend or deliver into the custody of the Police the said James William Bontoft shall receive £ 50 reward, on application to Mr. George Waghorn, Superintendent of Police, Boston, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and to whom all information must be given.— Bow- street, February 25. Description of JAMES MARSHEE, a tramping watch- maker or clock cleaner, who, on the 17th ultimo, being the bailee of a silver verge Watch converted the same to his own use : age about 43, height 5 feet 3 or 4 inches, light hair, no whiskers ; and well dressed in dark clothes. He is the person advertised in the Police Gazette of the 6th instant and following dates as having absconded from Bridgnorth on the 16th ultimo. Information ^ to be given to Mr. Superintendent McWilliam, County Constabulary, Bridgnorth ; or to P. C. Description of a man, named CLAUDE PERCY PELHAM, - who absconded from Brighton on the 19th instant., charged with converting to his own use a Concertina of which he was bailee : age about 57, height 5 feet 3 inches, very thin, no whiskers, light moustache, his hair is naturally light but he dies it, and his nose is a little on one side ; he is a tailor, pianoforte tuner, dancing master, and plays the concertina. He was brought up in Ci< mden- town, likely to be at the west- end of London, and is likely to be known at No. 8, Crown- court, Wentworth- street, Whitechapel. The concertina has been found pawned at Brighton on the 18th instant. Stolen on the afternoon of the 18th instant, from several jewellers' shops in the borough of Preston : one gold Watch ; two gold Albert. Chains ; one gold Pencil- case; and one gold Cross. By two men of the following description, who called to make some trifling purchases : one about 30 or 32 years of age, height 5 feet 9 inches, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, full bushy whiskers, and thin rough face, dressed in long dark mixture overcoat and black hat; the other about 25 years of age, height 5 feet 5 inches, pale complexion, black hair and whiskers, thin imperial, and small Roman nose, and dressed in a dark overcoat, with velvet collar and pockets outside, and black hat. They left a parcel of herrings at the ' Theatre Tavern,' Preston, and stated they would call for it in half- an- hour ; upon the parcel being examined it was found to contain the stolen property. On the following morning MARY WIL- KINSON, a prostitute, a native of Scotland, called at the above public- house, and asked for a parcel of fish which her husband had left on the previous day. She is 26 years of age, short, stout, and rather good- looking ; dressed, in a grey seal- skin mantle, green plaid gown, brown muff and bo.., green gauze bonnet trimmed with black silk velvet, reda flowers, green ribbon, and black fall, states that she resides in Chatham- street, Stretford New- road, Manchester ; she was apprehended, and remanded for a week, charged with being an accomplice of the two men, who can be identified. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the appre- hension of the offenders. Riddell, Esq., Cheeseburn Grange, Northumberland, a cheque for £ 25, by three men of the following description lst. Age about 35, height 5 feet 8 or 10 inches, brown hair and whiskers meeting under the chin; dressed in a dark coat and white billycock, and carried a topcoat over his arm. 2nd. Age about 30, height 5 feet 6 or 7 inches, dark hair and whiskers; dressed in dark clothes and black hat, and also carried a coat over his arm. 3rd. Age about 34, height 5 feet 7 inches, pale complexion, and had the appearance of being in bad health • dressed in dark clothes and black hat. They all spoke the Lancashire dialect. They stated that they were farmers in February 2o. A man of the following description obtained, on tbe 12th instant, 5s., under false pretences, from George Gadd, saddler, of Wragby, Lincolnshire, by way of selling him a pawn ticket for a silver watch and gold chain, stated to be pledged at Milnes and Bramby's, Lincoln. Gadd called at the shop, on the 15th instant, to redeem the articles, when it was discovered to be a forged ticket. Age about 20, height 5 feet 7 inches, black hair; dressed in a grey coat with cape, black trousers, and black cap, and had a bundle with him. He stated that he was a saddler in London, and that he was on his way to Grimsby, which is supposed to be false. He will no doubt try the same trick elsewhere. And MARY ANN SMITH, who gave the same address, a laundress, 30 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark hair, eyes, and complexion, and has a few small pimples on her face ; dressed in a figured paisley shawl, black coburg dress, trimmed with black velvet, black straw bonnet, trimmed with purple velvet, and black striped ribbon to match, leather boots, with military heels, and brass eyelet holes, and grej' victorine, with two tails, two gold rings on her finger, one a wedding, the other a gold ring with two white stones: states that she is a married woman. The man has in his possession a gold engine- turned Geneva Watch, with gilt dial, metal dome, and a piece broken off the hour hand, number on the outer case and dome ' 73,052,' a name and address scratched on the inner case, partly obliterated. He is 21 years of age, but looks older, 5 feet 7 inches high, grey eyes, sallow complexion, no whiskers, has the letter ' J.' marked with blue ink on the left arm below the elbow joint; dressed in a black billycock hat, black cloth coat, dark cloth waistcoat, corduroy trousers, and low lace- up shoes. He is supposed to have been previously convicted of felony in London. Description of a man apprehended at Tavistock, and com- mitted to the county gaol at Exeter, for one month under the Vagrant Act. He " gives his name as JAMES CAMPBELL SMITH, 25 years of age, 5 feet 8£ inches high, light brown hair and whiskers, blue eyes, which are rather full and prominent, oval visage, fail- complexion, rather slight figure, very erect, and branded with the letter ' D.;' dressed in a short white smock frock, military trousers, old boots, and oloth cap with peak. When apprehended he had a begging letter in his possession, addressed to the Hon. Mrs. Carpenter, Mount Description of JOHN CRADDOCK, who is remanded until the lst of March next, charged with stealing from a larder a quantity of Cooked Meat: age 30, height 5 feet 9 inches, fresh complexion, sandy hair and whiskers, propor- tionately made ; dressed in white slop, cord trousers, lace- up boots, and jimcrow hat. He has been working on the Severn Valley Railway, near Cressage, as a labourer, but he appears to have received a good education. States he is a native of Claverlev, Salop. It is strongly suspected that he has com- mitted offences elsewhere, and that he has been previously convicted. Information to be given to P. C. In custody, at Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, charged with stealing Sheepskins on the 10th instant ( which have been recovered), a man who first gave his name CLARK and after- wards WILLIAM LEEK ( supposed to be fictitious), age about 30, height 5 feet 8 inches, rather slight, long brown hair, ginger- coloured whiskers worn round the chin, fresh com- plexion, thin face, grey eyes, ' W F A ' tattooed on right arm below the elbow ; dressed in fustian coat, cord trousers, red and black neckscarf, dark waistcoat and cap. He is supposed to have been in the army, is well acquainted with prison discipline, is familiar with the counties of Kent, Essex, Norfolk, and Yorkshire, and suspected of having committed other offences. Absconded from Wynnstay stables, in the parish of Ruabon, CHARLES COX, alias SPIDER, charged with having violently assaulted Thomas Lawley, police eonstable, whilst in the execution of his duty, whereby his life is endan- gered. He is about 32 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slenderly made, and long thin face ; he was one of the helpers in the Wynnstay stables, and obtained the nickname of ' Spider' from having riden a horse of that name. He is well- known at all the race- courses and livery stables, particularly in Shopshire; he belongs to Bridgnoth, where his father resides. During the night of the 13th instant, the hen roost of Mr. Thomas Molyneux, of Park- lane, in the parish of Madeley, was entered, and nine Fowls were stolen therefrom, one game cock, six black hens, and two pullets ( one pheasant colour and the other light colour, speckled with yellow round the neck,) cross with the Spanish breed.
