Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining, or giving Information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may BEAR THE SIGNATURE of the Person sending or requiring the same, and be addressed to MR. BURNABY, the EDITOR, Police Court, Bow- street, her, don. Whenever it is desired that any individual, byname, shall be apprehended, it is indispensably necessary that an attested copy ol an Information sworn before a Magistrate, should be transmitted to Due Editor, together with the Advertisement for insertion in the TOLICE GAZETTE. It is particularly desired that the names of PERSONS and PLACES may be SPELT CORRECTLY, and WRITTEN PLAINLY, to prevent mistakes. Metropolitan Police- office, June 11.] Stolen, on the 8th instant, from the Person of Mrs. Hardy, 40, Albermarle- street, while in Covent- garden- market, a black silk Purse, with steel rings, containing a £ 10 Bank of England Note, a £ 5 ditto, three Sovereigns, and 4s or 5s.—[ Metropolitan Police- office, June 11.] Stolen, on the 7th instant, from the Person of Captain Rich- ardson, 6, Cecil- street, Strand, while at Ascot Races, a small double- bottomed gold Watch, with a Trinchinopoiy Ring attached — f Metropolitan Police- office, June 10. | Stolen, at 6 o'clock on the evening of the 6th instant, from a Gentleman at Liverpool, a gold Geneva Watch, small size, enamelled dial, no maker's name or number, a small dinge on the outer case, with a small gold Chain, and nag's- head Seal- key with plain red cornelian stone attached.—.£ 2 Reward will be paid to any person who shall give sucti information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of ihe property, on application to the Commissioner of Police, High- street, Liverpool.—[ Bow- street, June 10. J ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. On the night of the 6th instant, some evil- disposed Person or Persons, wilfully and maliciously set Fire to some Stacks, be- longing to Mr. George Jackson, of Bole, in the county of Notts — A Reward of £ 50 will be paid on the apprehension and con- viction of the offender or offenders, by the Yorkshire Fire and Life Insurance Company to any person who will give such m- Jormation as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen, on the 12th instant, from the Person of Geo. Brown, gardener, residing at Newton Don, in the county of Roxburgh, N. B., about 20s. in silver monies ; and a silver Watch, maker's name ' D. Edmonds, Liverpool, No. 9787,' figured dial, has one of the hands broken, with a bright steel Chain, and common brass Key attached.— Information to be given to William Cleav- er, superintendent of counly police, Jedburgh, or to David Armstrong, police- officer, Station, Kelso.— [ Bow- street. June 17.1 On the eveninz of the 8th instant, Mr. John Hummel, watch and clock manufacturer, of New- street, Worcester, was stopped • on the Turnpike- road leading from Stow to Tewkesbury, near the ' Hob- nails Inn,' in the county of Worcester, by two Men, who robbed him of nine Sovereigns, and two Half- sovereigns. One of the men had on a smock frock, and a low- crowned hat; about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, and about 30 years of age. The other had on a dark round jacket, and a cap with a boss of ribbons on it, such as navigators wear; about 25 years of age, and about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high.— Information to be given to the said Mi. Hummel, or to Richard Dance, sergeant of police, Beckford Station, Gloucestershire.—] Bow- street, June 17. | Stolen, from the Person of B. Cohen, Esq., on Moulsey Race- course, a Russian platina snuff Box, a coat of arms at top, with ' All for the best,' and ' B. Cohen' engraved at bottom.— f Metropolitan Police- office, June 17.] Stolen, on the 13th instant, from the Person of a Gentleman, » t the Hampton Race- course ( Mr. J. E. Jones, 13, Bruton- street, Berkeley- square), an old Pocket- book, containing a £ 10 Bank of England Note, and three £ 5 ditto ; ' Blackthrop' writ- ten on the Pocket- book.— [ Metropolitan Police- office, June 15.] silk Waistcoat, with large flowers and roll collar; a pair of men's drab Trousers, with small light stripes, some darns in the leg ; and a purple silk Neckerchief. A shirt, marked ' W. Bryant,' was left by the offender in the house — Also, on the 31st. ultimo, the Dwelling- house of Daniel Bridgman, of Kingsclere, was en- tered, and the following articles stolen therein, viz. i a pair of men's Half- boots, the right one mended behind, the other broken behind, and the bottom lace- hole broken out; a black beaver Hat; a pair of men's cord Trousers, broad cord, and lined; a velveteen shooting Jacket, with one pocket inside; a roll- collar buff Waistcoat; and a coloured pocket Handkerchief. A pair of soldier's Half- boots was left behind by the offender.— Infor- mation to be given to David Harvey, superintendent of Hants rural police, Kingsclere, Hants.—[ Bow- street, June 7.) On the night of the 4th instant, Lesbury House was burgla- riously entered, and a number of articles stolen therefrom, amongst which were the following: live silver tea Spoons, with a pattern on the top, and initials ' E. T.' underneath; five small silver Spoons, marked ' E. T.;' four silver table Spoons, initials ' E. T. i' two salt Spoons, same mark ; a pair of Snuffers and Tray, plated ; two German silver dessert Spoons; a German- silver Coffee- pot and Tea- pot; a Writing- desk, containing Paper, Letters, and a number of visiting Cards ; a Hat; and a pair of strong Shoes.— A Reward of £ 10 will be paid by the Lesbury Association for the Prosecution of Felons ; and a further Reward of £ 20 by Ed- ward Thew, junr., Esq., or William Hogg, police- officer, Aln- wick, Northumberland, to any person who will give such infor- mation as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, fBow- street, June 7.] Stolen, on the 13th instant, from the Person of Mr. J. Rigg, 36, Brompton- row, while at Moulsey Hurst Races, an oUl- fashioned engine - turned silver hunting Watch, with the dial broken near the figure.—[ Metropolitan Police office, June 15. J Stolen, on the 11th instant, from the Person of Mr. Tilliard, of 3, Plouden- buildings, Temple, a gold Geneva Watch, name on the face ' II. Capt. Geneva, No. 11540,' with small gold Chain, and brequet Chain attached. Supposed by a Cab- man, who took up a fare in the Ilay- market and set down in Fleet- street.— I Metropolitan Police office, June 14. Stolen, on tbe 11th instant, from the Person of Mrs. Mary Needham, of the Black Dog beer- shop King's road, Chelsea, two Notes of the Bank of England, for £ 5. each, one numbered ' 97624;' a Note of Hand for £ 2. 10s., payable at the Admiralty, sixty seven Sovereigns and a Half- sovereign.— Supposed by a Man 5feet 6 inches high, dark hair, round face, dressed in a dark surtout coat, and drab trousers.—[ Metropolitan Police office, June 13. J Lost or stolen, on the evening of the 9th instant, from the Person of a Gentleman, between Charterhouse- square, and Far ringdon- street, via Long- lane, Smithfield, and Snow- hill, a Rus- sian platina gilt Snuff- box, on the lid of which was tbe represen- tation of a Circassian Castle, with chased edges, and on the back HOUSE- BREAKING. On the 9th instant, the Dwelling- house of Mr. Isaac Purser, of Newton, in the parish of Ashchurch, in the county of Gloucester, was burglariously broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein, viz.: two gold Rings; a silver Ring set with stone ; two silver Studs; a silver shirt Button; a copper two- penny Piece; a coloured silk Handkerchief; and a double- breasted black Waistcoat.— W hoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of tile offender or offenders, shall receive £ 5 Reward. Informaiion to be given to the said Mr. Isaac Purser, or to Richard Dance, sergeant of police, Beckford Station, Gloucestershire.—[ Bow- street, June 17 ] On the 14th instant, Ihe Dwelling- house of John Lloyd, Shawbury, was feloniously broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein, viz.: a calico Shirt stained on the collar; a cloth Shirt; a dark Shawl; a black Handkerchief; a pair of quarter Boots ; and a loaf of Bread. Supposed by a Man about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, and 22 years of age ; dressed in a dirty smock- frock, who was seen going in the dire tion of Shrewsbury. — Information to be given to J. M. Shearbrooke, police- officer, Wem, Salop Constabulary.—| Bow- street, June 17. J On the 9th instant, the Dwelling- house, of Thomas Cliffe, shoemaker at Ilinderton, near Neston, Cheshire, was feloniously broken and entered, and an engine- turned patent lever silver Watch,' No. 102,' maker's name,' J. A. Moss, Liverpool,' and marked with ink inside the outer case, stolen therefrom.— Infor- mation to be given to George Palmer, special high constable, Town- hall, Birkenhead, Cheshire.—] bow- street, June 11.] On the night of the 6th instant, the Dwelling- house of William Robins, of Potter's Crouch, near St. Alban's, was felo- niously entered, and the following property stolen therein, viz.: a £ 10 Bank of England Note, number not known ; lour Sove- reigns ; a calico Shirt, marked ' W. R. ;' two linen Sheets, maiked ' W. R. ;' a Blanket; and a Razor wiih black handle.— Information to be given to the Inspector of Police, Watford, or to the Inspector o( Police, Hempstead, Herts— Bow- street, June 10.] On the afternoon of the 8th instant, between the hours of 4 and 5 o'clock, the Premises of Sir Edward Tucker, K. C. B., was burglariously entered, in the palish of Wickham, and the follow- ing articles feloniously stolen therefrom, out of the butler's Pantry, viz.: a silver soup Ladle, a gravy Spoon, twelve table Spoons, six ditto Forks, six dessert Spoons, six tea Spoons, four egg Spoons, a salt Spoon, a fish Slice, a butter Knife, a pair of sugar Tongs, two sauce Ladles, a sugar Sifter, and a diaper Towel marked ' E. T. U. 12.' The above articles are of a fiddle pattern, double- ribbed round the edge, with crest a Hand and Dart. Supposed by a Man named JAMES MARTIN, who has been a servant some years past to Sir Edward Tucker, as a butler lie is a native of Millbrook, in the county of Hants, 40 years ol age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, pale complexion, dark eyes, daik hair and whiskers, slender made, stoops when walking, and is rather lame of the left foot, having a swelling on the inside of the ankle- bone; he was dressed when last seen in a shabby black dress coat and trousers, arid black hat. He is supposed to have made his way across the country for London, with the said stolen property in his possession.— A Reward of £ l0 will be paid o: i his apprehension and comiction and recovery of the property. Information to ba given to Superintendent C. Van Santen, Hants County Police- sta. ion, Fareham, who holds a warrant for the said JAMES MARTIN'S apprehension.—[ Bow- street, June 10.] On the 23rd ultimo, the Dwelling- house of Charles Mat- tingly, of Kingsclere, Hants, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein, viz. : two silver Watches, one has a small piece broken out of the glass, near the figures 5 and 6, and the bows of both are broken; an infant's white Frock, Willi Robe ; two infant's Caps, one net, the other muslin ; two women's net Caps; a pair of men's cord Trousers, lined with twill; a wedding Ring; and a calico Sheet, nearly new. The offenders left a pair of marine's woollen Trousers in the house.— On the 27th ultimo, the Dwelling- house of John Ilawes of Woolverton, was also entered, and the following articles stolen therein, viz. : a black beaver Hat, with a piece of drab cloth under the leather lining; two calico fshirts, linen fronts end wristbands, marked ' I, H.,' Nos, ' 5/ and ' 6j' a Wack HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. The Horse advertised as stolen on the night of the 5th inst., from the Brown Clee hill, parish of Cleobury North, the property of Thomas Blunt Collins, has been found and restored to the owner, and the offender committed to the Assizes for trial.—[ Bow- street, June 17,] The two Horses advertised in the ' Police Gazette' of the 14th instant, as stolen or stiayed from Mr. Bammon's, of Leigh, Essex, have been recovered and restored to the owner.—[ Bow- street, June 17 ] Stolen, from a Field near Lynn, on the night of the 11th instant, a Mare Ass, colour Dark Blown, 2 years eld, clipped about the neck, and has a spot on the off shoulder about the size of a shilling, where the hair has been rubbed off.— Information to le given to J. Woods, superintendent of police, Lynn, Norfolk. —[ Bow- street, June 17.] Stolen, on the night of the 13th instant, or early the follow- ing morning, from a Close at Saltfieetby St. Peter's, adjoining Fishmere Gate, three fat Ewes, washed but not clipped, they are branded ' F. C.' on the rump, and have a piece cut out of the far ear; the properly of Frederick Chaplin, Esq.— Whoever will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and con- viction of the offender or offenders, shall receive a Reward of Twenty- five Guineas Irom the said Mr. Chaplin, and a further Reward of Ten Guiueas from the Louth Association for the Pro- secution of Felons. Information to be given to John Campbell, superintendent of police, Louth.—| Bow- street, June 17.] Stolen cr strayed, a Dark Brown Mare, the property of Mr. James Priest, blacksmith, Woodford. She is about 14 hands high, with bushy switch tail, black legs, lately trimmed, two white spots on the near side, and a cut on the inside of the near hind foot. Was kst seen on the 25th ultimo.—[ Bow- street, June 17.] Stolen or strayed, from off Qua Fen Common, a Black Pony, aged, with white saddle- marks, right eye out, knees just, chipped, switch tail, clean legs, and stands about 13 hands high, — It strayed, whoever will bring the same to Joseph Faulks, of Soham, shall be rewarded for their trouble.—| Bow- street, June 17.] Stolen or strayed, late on the evening of the 31st ultimo, or early the following morning, from a Field at St. Alger's Farm, in the parish of Frome, a Black Nag Horse rigdill, 8 years old, about 14 hands high, with one white leg behind, a little while on the near fore fool, and a small bit of hair off the near pin.— Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the ap- prehension of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 5 Reward ; and if strayed, all reasonable expenses will be piid, on applica- tion to James Parrot, of St. Alger's Farm, Somerset.—[ P, ow- street, June 17,] Stolen or strayed, from a Piece of waste Land at Wear, near Cross, Somerset, on thenight of ihe 1st inst., or early the following morning, a Light Brown Mare, 5, years old, 14 hands high, with black legs, mane and tail, has a small white star in the forehead, and the off knee broken.— If stolen, £ 5 Reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the Mare; and if strayed, £ l Reward will be paid, on application to Mr. George \\ ills, the owner, ' Spread Eagle,' ai Wear. Infor- mation to be given to J. Hill, inspector of police, Bridgwater.— [ Bow- street, June 17.] The Pony stolen from Duxmore, near Ludlow, as advertised in the ' Police. Gazette' of the 10th instant, has been restored to the owner.— [ Bow- street, June 17.] Description of a Man who hired a Horse and Stanhope of Mr. R. Herring, livery . stable- keeper, Northumberland street, on thel2. h instant: he is about 30 years of age, fair, h s a north country dialect, dressed in a dark frock coat and trousers. The lierie is a Bright Chesnut, about 15 hands high, with a white ttUze down the face, and square tail. The Stanhope is painled gieen, picked out with drab, drab lining, and the off shaft po. nt- ed inwards.—[ Metropolitan Police- office, June 17.] On the night of the 15th inst nt, a Ewe Sheep was Slaugh- tered in the parish of Widdington, Essex, and the greater pan of the carcase carried away.— Whoe\ er will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 5 Reward, on application t? Clarke, superintendent, Essex county constabulary, Newport.—[ Bow- street, June 17.[ Stolen, from a Field near Welshpool, late on the 5th inst., < or < arly the following morning, a Bright Bay Hack Mare, about 15 hands high, aged, fired on her two hind hocks which are thieR. rather long tail, and is in the habit of continually switching it.— Any perscn who will give such information as will lead to the discovery of the above Mare, and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive Three Guineas Reward Information to be given to Mr. Andrew, cabinet maker, High- street, Welshpool, the owner of the Mare, or to the Police- of- ficers, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.—| Bow- street, June 17, | Stolen or strayed, from a Field in the occupation of Mr. Alexander Hughes, of Pentre David, in the parish of Selatyn, on the night of the 14th instant, or early the following morn ing, a Brown Cart Horse, aged, 15 hands high switch tail, and has a white star on the forehead. Also, a Dark Brown Cart Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, two hind feet white, and one fore foot white, a white stripe down the face, and marked on the shoulder.— If stolen, whoever will give such information to Luke Edwards, County Constabulary, Oswestry, as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction . of the offender or offenders, shall receive a Reward of £ 5 fiom the said Mr. Hughes ; and if stray- ed, a handsome Reward and all reasonable expenses will be paid, on the restoration of the same.— I Bow- street, June 17. j Stolen or strayed, from Westow, in the county of Herts, a " Black Colt, of the cart breed, 2 years old, with blaze down the forehead, the two hind heels white, the off fore foot white, shoTt ears, long tail, and without shoes.— Information to be given to Inspector Good, rural police, Stevenage, Herts.—| Bow- street, June 15.] Stolen or strayed, on the night of the 2nd instant, from off ai Mountain, near Pontywain, Glamorganshire, a Black Mare Pony, 3 years old, white down the forehead, white snip on the nose, long tail, about 11 hands high; the property of William Evan David, of the ' Victoria' public- house, Rhymney.— Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and con- viction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the Mare, shall be handsomely rewarded ; and if strayed, all reasonable ex- penses will be paid on the restoration of the same, on application to William Evan David aforesaid, or at the Rhymney Police- station.—| bow- street, June 15, J Stolen or strayed, from a Field near the Wheat- sheaf Ban Bowling, on the 11th instant, a Brown Pony, 2 years old, four black legs, a long bushy tail, and 12J hands high.— Whoever will give such information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders, shall have all reasonable expenses paid, on application to Mr. W. Brigg, of Bowling aforesaid. -[ Bow- street June 15.] Stolen, on the night of the 11th instant, or early the following morning, from a Field at Risca, Monmouthshire, a Black Mare, of the cart breed, 5 years old, has a small white spot in the forehead, the off'side of the jaw is swollen, has a small wound under the jaw, and a long switch tail ; the property of William Jones, of Risca.— Information to be given to Mr. E. Hopkins, superintendent of police, Newport, Monmouthshire.— [ Bow- street, June 15. | Stolen, on the 10th instant, from Spark Brook, a Bay Mare> about 14$ hands high, rising 7 years old, with dark legs, switch fail, and neck rather short.— Information to be given to Mr. Whitworth, ' Angel Inn,' Spark Brook, or to Mr. Phillipps, Mole street, Stratford- road—] Metropolitan Police- office, June 15.] Found, on Headley Heath, Surrey, a powerful Dark Brown Gelding, about 15 hands high, and aged : supposed to have been stolen.— Application to be made at the Police station, Epsom.— I Bow- street, June 14.] Stolen, from a Field at South Elmsall, between Doncaster and Wakefield, on rhe night of the 12th instant, a Bay Mare, the property of Mr. George Goldthorpe, of Shipley, near Hud- dersfield, clothier; she is 7 years old, 15 hands high, black legs, star on the forehead, a sand crack in near fore- foot, half- bred, and in good condition.— A Reward of Five Guineas will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or of- fenders, on application to the said owner. Information to be given to W. Etches, chief constable, Doncaster.—| Bow- street, June 14.] Stolen or strayed, from a piece of Ground at Spark Brook, on the night of the 10th instant, or early the following morning, a Bay Mare, about 14j hands high, rising 7 years old, with dark legs, switch tail, and rather short neck.—£ 5 Reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the said Mare, on application to Mr. Whitworth, ' Angel Inn,' Spark Brook, or to Mr. Phillips, corner of Mole- street, Stratford- road.—[ Bow- street, June 14. | Stolen or strayed, from a Field near Rhymuey, a Black Horse, about 15 hands high, 6 years old, with a small white star in the forehead, switch tail, and little white on the near hind leg : also, a Black Mare, about 13 hands high, with white face, a burnt mark on the hind quarter, and two or three white spots on the back : also, a Brown Horse, about 15 hands high, a small white star on the forehead, and small switch tail.— Whoever will give such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive Two Guineas Reward, on application to Thomas Griffiths, police- officer, Tredegar Iron Works, Mon- monthshire.—[ Bow- street, June 14 ] Stolen, on the 6th ultimo, from Waterend, Oxon, a Dark Brown Mare, about 14 hands high, coming 5 years old, star in the forehead, the off hind foot white, long tail, rather bare of flesh, and has the letter ' S.' branded on the near shoulder. —£ 3 Reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. WEDGE is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, stout made, light complexion and hair, sandy- coloured whiskers ex* tending to the point of the chin, blue eyes, a speck in the left eye, rather small nose and mouth, has been tattooed on the right arm, with a representation of the tree of life, Adam and Eve and a serpent entwined round the tree, above it an anchor and Bri- tania, 184 4 ; on the wrist a star; © n the fore- finger an anchor ; on middle finger a cross; on fourth finger a half moon ; on the fore- finger of the left hand an anchor; on the middle finger a heart; on the fourth finger a ring ; on wrist a cross or star ; oil the arm union flags, with a cross in the centre and crown on the top, ' Love and Unity ' written under it; also, a representation of Christ crucified on the Cross, with the letters ' I. N. R. L' on the top of the cross, also ' W. H. W. J. 31, 1838:' the whole is tattooed with blue ink. He has die appearance of a fisherman. GEORGE LOW is about 52 years of age, 5 feet 9} inches high, thin made, grey hair, small sandy whiskers, light hazel eyes, nose appears to have been broken and inclines to the right side, thin face, and has the appearance of an itinerant general dealer.— Information to be given to Mr. Puttock, police officer, Bognor, or to Richard Pannell, chief officer of police, Petworth, Sussex,— [ Bow- street, June 10.] On the night of the 25th ultimo, two Men and two Women were encamping in Darkhouse- lane, in the parish of Kenilworth, and when spoken to by the Police decamped, leaving a light spring Cart, which is supposed to have been stolen. The Cart is of the following description: it has iron arms, double- bodied box seat, splash- board step at the back, and one on the side, the off shaft is broken near the tip, painted lead colour, with name on the door ' Henry Dighton, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.' Also, a Mare, 13 hands high, black legs," switch tail, large fetlock on the nearside, the off ear cropped : the Mare is since dead.
