Cart, standing high oh the wheels and springs, the hind part of the body is built much higher than the front, painted light green, and a gilt letter ' P.' on both sides and back, drawn by a Bay Mare, about 14. J hands high, well bred, a fast goer, black legs, the near hind fetlock white, and switch tail. They had three carpet Bags in the Cart, which appeared heavy, and an extra horse collar. They were traced to Aylesbury on the 20th ultimo, and are supposed to have taken the 7 o'clock P. M. Train for Lon- don. They left at Banbury in the possession of two Female com- panions, a Chesnut Mare, supposed to be stolen, well bred, about 7 years old, 15 hands high, a small streak of white in the fore- head, and long tail.— Information to be given to Inspector Nott, Police- station, Chipping Norton.—[ Bow- street, October 30.] Stolen, on the 24th ultimo, from the Person of a Female, in the Fair at Windsor, Berks, a brown silk net Purse, with sil- ver plated clasp, con taining five Sovereigns, about £ l in silver monies, and a silver Coronation Medal of George the Fourth, having ' Lieut. Charles Hayward, Bucks Yeomanry Cavalry,' en- graved on one side.— Information to be given to Superintendent Gillman, Police- office, Windsor, Berks.—[ Bow- strcet, October 28.1 Stolen, on the night of the 24th ultimo, from the Person of Mr. Samuel Burrowes, of Bicester, Oxon, a small engine- turned Watch, with the initials ' S. B.' engraved on the case, maker's name ' J. Tomlinson, Bicester, No. 2511also, a gold Seal, with a Man's head engraved on a red* stone, a common metal Key, and a watered watch Ribbon attached.— A Reward of £ l will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offender and recovery of the property. Information to be given to John Ward, police- officer, Bicester, Oxon.—[ Bow- street, Oc- tober 27.] MALICIOUSLY STAPLING. Description if GEORGE KINGSTON, by trade 4 sail- maker, and a native of Newport, South Wales, who is. charged with Cutting and Stabbing, with intent to Murder Mr. John Owen, solicitor, of Monmouth. The said GEORGE KINGS.- TON is 23 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair blue and white half Handkerchief; aud two yards of new Welsh Flannel: one is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout, dark complexion, dark hair; dressed in an old drab baragan jacket and trousers, red neckerchief with white spots, blue cloth cap, and new Blucher boots with two or three lase- holes ; is supposed to be a native of Cheshire. The other is from 25 to 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout, fair com- plexion, fair hair ; dressed in an old baragan jacket and trousers, old beaver hat, and navigator's boots ( one having three slits, and the other two, as if to ease his toes); supposed to be a native of Cheshire.— Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Stafford.—[ Bow- street, October 26. | HOUSE- BREAKING. Between the hours of 3 and 6 o'clock, on the morning of the 29th ultimo, the Dwelling- house of Mr. R. J ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. About 8 o'clock P. M. of the 24th ultimo, some evil- diposed • person or persons feloniously and maliciously Set Fire to two Stacks of Hay, two Stacks of Straw, and a Shed ; which were all consumed : the property of Messrs. R. and N. Takens, of Beccles.— Any person who will give such information as'shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall be handsomely rewarded. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's office, Ipswich, or to Inspector G. Garnham, Beccles, Suffolk.—[ Bow- street, October 30.] On the night of the 22nd ultimo, between the hours of 7, and 8 o'clock, the Stack- yard of Mr. Wincup, of Collyweston, in the county of Northampton, was maliciously Set on Fire by some person or persons at present unknown, and the following pro- perty destroyed : a Stack of Barley, containing about forty quar- ters ; a Stack of Hay, about ten tons ; a Stack of Straw; and a Stack of stubble Straw.— Any person who will give such infor- mation as may lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall be handsomely rewarded. Informa- tion to be given to James Ambridge, superintendent of police, Oundle, or to P. C. Pocock, Easton, near Stamford.—[ Bow- street, October 26.] Besks; four silver table Spoons, marked ' J. E P.' in a cypher; threeV- dvoj dessert Spoons, same mark; four silver tea Spoons, same mark; an old- fashioned silver tea Spoon, marked ' E C.;' a pair of plated sugar Bows ; six German silver tea Spoons ; a pair of women's Boots, cloth backs, marked ' II. D.' on the soles; two pair of men's half Boots, one pair button, the other lace- up ; four yards of unbleached new Calico ; two new cotton Che- mises ; two new woollen Petticoats, worked in a loom ; a Cheese, about 141bs.; a Hat, maker's name inside, ' Streetly, Leicester;' and a seven- keyed cocoa nut Flute, with silver chased tips, by ' Nicholson,' and loose patent mouth- piece, in a rosewood Case lined with crimson velvet.— A Reward of £ 10 will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, by Mr. R. Fowler. Information to be given to the Chief Con- stable of the Leicestershire Constabulary, Police- office, Leices- ter. — [ Bow- street, October 30.] On the night of the 27th ultimo, five Men broke and entered the Dwelling- house of the Rev. Robert Meek, vicar of Sutton Bonnington, Notts, and stole therefrom the following articles, a dozen silver Forks, fiddle handles ; a dozen silver Forks, ROBBERY FROM THE PERSON Stolen, on the 28th ultimo, from the Person of Charles Wilkes, while in a state of intoxication, in Gravel- lane, St. Saviour's, Southwark, a silver Watch, maker's name ' Michael Thoin, South Melton, No. 13808,' with steel Chain attached.— Metropolitan Police- office, November 1.] Stolen, on the 29th ultimo, from the Person of Mr. Poole, 17, Tate- street, West- street, St Andrew's, a double- cased silver Watch, maker's name ' Valentine,' and a gold union Pin. By a Female, 20 years of age, short and stout, dressed in a red and green plaid dress.—[ Metropolitan Police- office, November 1.] Stolen, on the 29th ultimo, from the Person of Mrs. Bryant, while coming out of Kennington Church, a black net Purse, con taining five Sovereigns, and some Silver. By a young Man, about 19 years of age, stout, dark hair, dressed in a Chesterfield wrapper, and black hat.—[ Metropolitan Police- office, Nov. 1- 1 Stolen, on the 25th ultimo, from the neighbourhood of New Gravel- lane, Ratcliff, from the Person of Robert Smith, No. 2, Bennet- street, Greenwich, an old- fashioned double- cased silve" Watch, capped and jewelled, wiili initials ' S. M. S.,' mak- er's name ' David Morris, Fenchurch- street, London, No 3214,' and a small gold Key attached ; and a green Purse, containing a Half- sovereign, 9s. 6d. in silver, and 5} d. in copper.—[ Metropo- litan Police- office, Octobcr 30.] Stolen, on the evening of the 25th ultimo, from the Person of Mr. Hyatt, of Fulwell, Oxon. at Chipping Norton Fair, eight Sovereigns, and a £ 10 Bank of England Note, issued by the Oxford County Bank, and stamped as such. By two Men, dressed as respectable dealers : one of them is about 5 feet 7 inches high, rather large dark whiskers meeting under the chin ; the other is about 5 feet 6 inches high, rather light or sandy hair, dressed in a brown frock coat, and top boots. They absconded immediately after the robbery, in a light- built old- fashioned spring small; ten heavy silver table Spoons; five dessert Spoons, mark- ed with the letter ' M.;' a silver ' oread Knife, plain; a large silver fish Slice, fiddle handle, marked ' M. o'; a silver plated round low Candlestick, with Extinguisher ; two silver salt Spoons; a silver bottle Stand, pierced'; two gilt plated Candle- sticks ; a lady's gold Watch, single case, with roman letters in old, and ornamental Key; a silver Watch, capped and jewelled, white face, and a gold Seal, with dark stone, device a Lamb bearing a Cross, and the letters ' R. M.' below ; a gold mourning Ring, engraved ' To the Memory of Fowler Hicks, Esq ;' a linen Purse, marked ' Brampton and Snale Bible Society,' containing £ 3 in gold'; and a long Purse, made of black and grey ribbon, sewn together, with steel ornaments and rings, containing five Shillings, and a Half- crown — Information lo be given to W. Mitchell, superintendent of county constabulary, Nottingham division, Snemton, or to Inspector John Casey, of the Rush- cliffe division, Ruddington, Notts Constabulary.—] Bow- street, October 30.] Between the hours of 11 P. M. on the night of the 26th ult., and 6 o'clock on the following morning, the Dwelling- house of Mr. Thos. Wood, farmer, of Tottington Higher End, near Bury, in ihe cnunty of Lancaster, was burglariously broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz.: a black dress Coat, with black silk buttons, and lined with red under the col- lar ; a printed fustian dress Coat, with covered buttons ; a black cloth Surtout; a black cloth dress Coat; a purple cloth dress Coat; a pair of black cloth Trousers, lined with calico; a pair of slate- coloured ditto; a black cloth Waistcoat; an invisible green Cloak ; a spun Shawl, with coloured border; a black knit worsted Shawl; a large fawn- coloured Handkerchief; an old Guinea; three Sovereigns; and 35s. in silver.— Information to be given to Henry Henshall, superintendent of police, Police- office, Bury, Lancaster.—[ Bow- street, October 30.] On the night of the 24th ultimo, or early the following morn- ing, the House of Mrs. Andrews, of Great Coggeshall, was bur- glariously broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein, viz.: four silver table Spoons, crest, Hand and Olive; eight or nine silver tea Spoons, marked ' T. M. A.'; a pair of sugar Tongs; five silver egg Spoons ; two silver pencil Cases ; two pen Knives ; and three silver French Coins.— Information to be given to Inspector D. Smith, Essex Constabulary, Coggeshall.— [ Bow- street, October 27- 1 Description of two Men who stand charged with having, on the 23rd uliimo, at Knightley, in the hundred of Cuttlestone, and parish of Gnasall, burglariously broken and entered the Dwelling- house of Thomas Myatt, and stolen therein a silver Watch, old, maker's name ' Massey, Eccleshall;' a fancy cotton Handkerchief, red ground, and lilac figures of Men, Horses, See. ; HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen, from a Field in the township of Gawsworth, near Macclesfield, Cheshire, a Bay Mare, of the cart breed, 12 years old, about 15 hands high, a white streak down the face, the bot- tom of three of its legs are white, and has a scar on the forehead ; the property of Mr. Edward Gee, of Gawsworth, farmer, by whom ail reasonable expenses will be paid on recovery of the same. She has since been traced on the road to Stockport and Manchester, in the possession of a young Man dressed in a light baragan long frock coat.— Information to be given to William Adamson, special high constable, Macclesfield, Cheshire. —- [ Bow- street, November l. J Stolen, on the night of the 25th ultimo, or early the follow- ing morning, from a Field near Pontaberpengam, Monmouth- shire, a Dark Brown Mare, aged, standing from 13 to 14 bands high, with a white stroke down the forehead, a large lump be- hind her ear on the near side, saddle- marked on both sides, short switch tail, the near hind foot white at the fetlock- joint. She is very restless, and kicks very much when approached to mount. — All reasonable expenses will be paid on recovery of the same. Information to be given to Rhys Thomas, police- officer, ' Flow- er- de- Luce,' near Blackwood, Monmouthshire.— [ Bow- streetf November l. J Stolen or strayed, from a Field in the occupation of Mrs. Middleton, of Fitz, county of Salop, a Dark Brown Hack Horse, 5 years old, has a small white star on the forehead, a few white spots on the ribs ( apparently caused by spur wounds), legs untrimmed, switch tail, and hind feet unshod.— If stolen, £ 5 Reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, on application to the said P.:.-. . Mid- dle ton. Information to be given to John S. Macmicliael, de- puty chief constable, Salop, or to P. C. 43 John Gumpstone, Montford Bridge, Salop.—[ Bow- street, November 1.] The Heifer advertised in the ' Police Gazette ' of the 30th ultimo, as having been stolen from Marlborough Fields, Herts, has been recovered and restored to the owner,—[ Bow- street, Oc- tober 31.] Found, on the 29ih ultimo, in the parish of Chipping Wy- combe, Bucks, two Wether and one Ewe Sheep, marked on the sides ' W. B J;' supposed to have been stolen.— Information to be given to John Hailey, constable, Chipping Wycombe, Bucks.— [ Bow- street, October 31. | On the night of the 26th ult., or early the following morn- ing, two half bred Sheep were Slaughtered in a Field called Woodcock's- hill, on Arngrove Farm, Boarstall, the property of Richard May, and the carcases carried away, leaving the heads, skins, & c., in a ditch in the field.— Any person who will give such information to G. Hewiett, constable, Brill, as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive of the said Richard May, a Reward of £ 10.—[ Bow- street, October 31. J On the night of the 28th ultimo, or early the following morning, a Ewe Sheep was feloniously Killed in a Field, in the parish of Charwelton ; the two shoulders and hind- quarters were carried away, and the remainder left behind ; the property of Mr. William Hands, farmer, of Starnbow.— Whoever will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive a Reward of £ 10. In- formation to be given to William Stock, superintendent of police, Daventry, Northamptonshire.—[ Bow- street, October 30.] About five weeks ago, a Man left at the ' Green Man' pub- lic- house, Chesham, Bucks, two two- tooth half- bred Ram Sheep, one has snail horns, which are supposed to have been stolen.— Information to be given to Edwin Birch, chief constable, Ches- ham, Bucks.—[ Bow- street, October 30.] Stolen, on the night of the 26th ultimo, or early the follow- ing morning, from a Field adjoining the Tonbridge road, about midway between the Maidstone Turnpike and Barming Heath, two Ponies: one is a Mare, of a very dark brown colour ( or nearly black), without a spot, has a wart on the nose, her muz- zle slightly tanned, mane and tail long and black, about 12 hands high, and rising 3 years old; the other is a Gelding, of an iron grey colour, with long mane and tail, a star on his forehead, dark legs, rising 4 years old, about 13 hands high, and has very good action.— Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and re- covery of the same, shall receive a lieward of £ 5, on application to Mr. W. Philpot, No. 5, Bower- place. — [ Bow- street, October 30.] Lost, supposed to have been stolen, from the Ox Lease Mea- dow, Gloucester, on the night of the 26th ultimo, a very Dark. Brown Yearling Gelding, about 11 or 12 hands high, three white legs, a small star on the forehead, is now labouring under the effects of a surfeit, the hair is rubbed off the tail at the root, aud also off the mane.— If stolen, a Reward of Two Guineas will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders; and if strayed, any person restoring the same to Mr. F. Brown, solicitor, 27, Long Smith- street, Gloucester, shall be handsomely rewarded.— f Bow- street, October 30.] On the 27th ultimo, nine Ewe Sheep, of theJLeicestershire white- faced breed, and supposed to have been stolen, were seen on Croxley- green, in the parish of Rickmansworth, Herts. They were marked with a black ring with an' I.' or' J.' in the middle, 2834 POLICE GAZETTE. November 1. Ou the following morning eight were gone, and upon inquiry na owner could be found. On the morning of the 29th. another Sheep was found in a field by the road- side, a mile from Croxley- green; it was quite lame and unfit to travel.— Information to be given to the Inspector of Police, at Watford, or to P. C. M'Craith, at llickmansworth.—[ Bow- strqtt, October 30.] Stolen or strayed, from a Field on the Wolstanton- road, in the parish of Newcastle- under- Lyme, a Dark Cliesnut Horse Pony, 6 years old, about 14 hands high, a white blaze in the face, • switch tail, has a little hair cut from each knee, a broken pace when walking, and trots wide behind ; the property of Mr. Thomas Phillips, grocer, of Newcastle. — If stolen, Two Guineas Reward will be paid to any person who will give such informa- tion as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders; if strayed, all reasonable expenses will be paid on recovery of the same. Information to be given to Isaac Cottrill, Police- office, Newcastle.—[ Bow- street, October 30. | Stolen or strayed, on the 26th or 27th ultimo, a Chesnut Gelding, with two broken knees, four white feet, a white face, with saddle-' marks, a white mark on each side of the neck ( about four inches from the shoulder), and from 14 to 15 hands high ; the property of William Penfold, of Maidstone, in the county of Kent.—- Information to be given to the Superintendent of the Maidstone Police.—[ Bow- street, Octobcr 28.] Stolen or strayed, from Hook's Mead, near Waltham Abbey Essex, on the night of the 20th ultimo, two Chesnut Fillies, rising 4 years old, 14J hands high, with long tails; one has a white star in the forehead : the properly of Mr. George Acres, farmer, Wormley West End, Hertfordshire.— Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the recovery of the same, if strayed, or if stolen, the apprehension and conviction of the of- fender or offenders, shall be rewarded for his trouble and have all reasonable expenses paid, on application to Robert Barnes, inspector of county constabulary, Ware, Herts.—[ Bow- sheet, October 27.] Stolen, on the night of the 23rd ultimo, or early the follow- ing'moming, from a Field opposite Mr. H. Cook's house, Wil- lesborough, a Dark Grey Gelding Pony, about 13 hands l inch high, 3£- years old, and long bang tail squared at the bottom.— A Reward of £ 50 will be paid by Mr. H. Cook, of Winesb0- rougli, to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or of- fenders.— fBow- strcet, October 27.] JAMES CHADWICK, an excavator, and native of Leeds, is charged with Ravishing a young Girl named Catherine Ridley, on the nightof the 12th October, neat Rushyford, in the county of Durham He is about 34 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, stout made, hair light inclining 10 grey, and is supposed to have had his hair cut, and his whiskers shaved off; was dressed in a blue pilot coat, light trousers, navy boots, and hat. He is supposed to have gone either to Hadfield, Derbyshire; Glossop, Derbyshire; or to Inverness; in search of employment.— Who- ever will give such information as shall lead to his apptehenjion, shall, upon conviction, receive Two Guineas Reward, on appli- cation to Orlando Osmond Ingo, superintendent of police, Bishop Auckland.— f Bow street, October 26.] FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS Whereas CHARLES DOWNHAM, formerly in the em- ploy of Mr. Hetherington, job- master, Edgware road, and late in the service of Harvey Coombe, Esq., stands charged with hav- ing, on the 28th ultimo, under false pretences, obtained a Ches- nut Horse, from the Establishment of Mr. Winch, Great, Wind- mill- street, Haymarket. He is about 5 feet 8 or 10 inches high, stout made, round red fare, and marked with the small- pox ; he generally wears a green or olive- coloured Newmarket coat, and a round hat.— Any person who will give such information as may lead to the apprehension of the said offender, will be liberally rewarded by Mr. Winch.—[ Bow- street, October 31.] Obtained, under false pretences, from Mr. Groombridge, of Pembrokeshire, on the 27th ultimo, at the ' Rose and Crown ' public- house, Charles- street, Stepney, a £ 5 Bristol Bank- note, marked ' Stockens;' a Sovereign, and 20*. in silver. By two Men : one about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair, brown eyes, round face, and no whiskers, dressed in a grey tweed wrapper; the other about 6 feet high, fair, stoops, and dressed in a brown great coat. | Metropolitan Police- office, October 30.] Obtained, under false pretences, on the 26th ultimo, from Mr. Wharton, 48, Broad- street, Grocery to the amount of 18s. And from Mr. Groves, of the ' Spread Eagle' public- house, Broad- street, two gallons of Gin, and a Sovereign. By a Man 46 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout, ruddy complexion, red whiskers, and round- shouldered, dressed in an old brown great coat, and leather overalls.—[ Metropolitan Police- office, October 28.] LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded, on the 28th ultimo, from the employment of Robert Price, 16, White Lion- stieet, Norton Folgate, a Man, Embezzling £ 2 10s. Escaped from the House of Correction, Dolgtlly, North Wales, on the 28th ultimo, JOSEPH RATHBONE, 28 years Stolen, from the Shop of Joseph Wilcocks, tailor and draper, St. Neot's, Hunts, between the hours of 7 and 8 o'clock P.
