How manv days were you here r— Twelve days 9278. Were you examined as a witness upon any of the cases as to value upon that petition ?— No, not one. Q27q. Were you examined at all ?— No, I was not. 0280 Had any of the cases respecting the value which you could speak of, been brought on during the time you remained in London ?— No, they kept them back. ^ . 9281. Were you in London at the time when those cases respecting the value of which you could have given evidence were brought on 1— No, I was not. 9282. Mr. Patrick Flood. 9283. Mr. Curry.] HAVE you, since the last day of your examination, selected any further cases of persons who have been registered as voters for the county of Longford, and whose votes were struck off by the Election Committee of 1837 ?— Yes, struck off by the Election Committees of 1833 and 1837 ; I have taken both. 9284. Turn to one of these cases and state the name of the voter?— Peter Reilly of Killina. 9285. In what year was he registered ?— I think it was in 1832. 9286. And in what year was he struck off?— 1837. 9287. Did you view and value that man's farm ?— I did. 9288. In what year?— It was on the 31 March 1837. 9289. How many acres of land had he?— Fifteen Irish acres. 9290. What was his yearly rent?—£. 23. 125. Qd. I think was the rent. 9291. In what state of cultivation was the farm at the time you viewed it in 1837 ?— It was in a very good state of cultivation ; he had five acres prepared for oats. 9292. Any potatoe ground ?— He had three acres for potatoes. 9293- Any meadow ?— Yes; all the land lies near the river, and is good meadow land. 9294. How much meadow ground?— He kept about three acres of meadow ground. 9295. And the remainder of his farm was in grass?— Yes. heifer ^ What stock had 1) e ?~ Four cows' a broodmare, and a two- years' old 9297. In your judgment, would a solvent tenant have given that man 10/. a year over and above the rent he paid for his interest in the farm ?— Yes, I think he would. 9298. In your judgment, and according to your understanding of the meaning of the words ' beneficial interest," what yearly beneficial interest do you think Reilly took 111 that farm .'- 1 should think 40/. a year; he is a rich man, and cul- tivates the farm himself. 9299. Were there any buildings on the farm ?- Yes; a very good farm- house, a barn, a byre and stable. J 9300. A very good farm- house and offices?— Yes 9301.
