The above Return is prepared correctly, according to the registrations; but many persons being doubly registered, viz. as 101, electors and as scot and lot or freemen, the number of persons actually entitled to vote is less than the number above stated as the
total. Number of Electors who actually Polled at the late General Election. The poll- books do not distinguish between the 101, and the scot and lot electors. It is therefore impossible to state how many of the one or how many of the other are included in the first of the above columns. 21 Dec. 1837. James Powell, Town Clerk. CHIPPENHAM.
