The Gentlemen to wear black cloth, without but- tons on the sleeves and pockets, plain muslin or long lawn cravats and weepers, shamoy shoes and gloves, crape hat- bands, and black swords and buckles. Heralds* College, June 21, 1837- The Earl Marshal's Order for a General Mourn- ing for his late Majesty King William the Fourth. In pursuance of an Order of Her Majesty in Council, the 21st day of June 1837, these are to give public notice, that it is expected, that all per- sons, upon the present occasion of the death of His late Majesty, of blessed and glorious memory, d0 put themselves into decent mourning; the said mourning to begin upon Saturday next the 24th instant. NORFOLK, Earl Marshal. GENERAL ORDER. Horse- Guards, June 20, 1837- Orders for Mourning for the Army for His late Majesty King William the Fourth. Her Majesty does not require that the Officers of the Army should wear any other mourning, with their uniforms, on the present melancholy occasion, than black crape over the ornamental part of the cap or hat, the sword- knot, and on the left arm, with the following exceptions, viz.:— Officers on duty are to wear black gloves, black crape over the ornamental part of the cap or hat, the sword knot, and on the left arm ; the sash covered with black crape, and a black crape scarf over the right shoulder. The drums are to be covered with black crape, and black crape is to be hung from the pike of the colour staff of infantry, and from the standard staff and trumpets of cavalry. When Officers appear at Court in their uniforms, they are to wear black crape over the ornamental part of the cap or hat, the sword- knot, and on the left arm; a black crape scarf over the right shoulder. THE Right Honourable and Honourable the Peers and Judges, and others invited by the Lord Provost and Magistrates of Edinburgh, to assist at the ceremony of Proclaiming Her Majesty QUEEN VICTORIA, will assemble at the Parliament- House, at Half- past Ten o'clock, A. M. The Judges, Magistrates, and others, will appear in their robes and official dresses, and the Knights will wear the decorations of their respective Orders. All persons to be in mourning. At Eleven o'clock carriages will be removed along the line of Procession, and with the exception of those of persons going to join the Procession, will be prevented from plying in the High Street until the ceremonial is concluded. Upon descending from the balcony, the Proces- sion will resume the\ same order, and move to the Castle Hill, where they will form a hollow square' within which those officiating will advance into the centre and near the Castle gate, where the same form of proclamation will be followed as took place at the Exchange, with this difference, that the Lord Provost will not read. This second act will be followed by a royal salute. The Procession will resume the same order, and move towards Holyrood- House, and at St. John's Cross will be received by the Magistrates of Can- ongate, attended by their Clerks, and Officers, with their Partizans, along with the Convener, Deacons, and High Constables of Canongate, and Clergymen of Canongate. They will pass into the Procession, and take their station immediately after the Deacons of the Incorporated Trades of the City. Upon reaching the Palace the same form will be repeated, proclamation being made in front of the Palace. Upon the conclusion of which, another royal salute will be fired from the Castle. The Heralds, Pursuivants, and Trumpeters, ac- companied by the Sheriff- Substitute of Leith, and Sheriff- Clerk, will here leave the procession, and repair to the Pier and Shore, where, after being joined by the Provost and Magistrates of Leith, who will receive them at the bounds of the Burgh, they will make proclamation in like manner and form, the Provost and Sheriff- Substitute reading the proclamation. The Procession will return in the same order, but inverted ( with the exception of the Lord Pro- vost and Magistrates' part, including the Body- Guard, who will continue in the same order as before), the advanced guard of Cavalry taking the front to clear the way. Upon reaching the door of the Parliament House, the head of the Procession will halt, open out, and face inwards, so as to allow the Procession to pass through between them, and following as their front is cleared, so as to enter the Parliament House in the same order in which they left it.
