The Names of Persons charged with Offences, who are known but not in Custody, and a Description of those who oh not knoWn their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of identity. The names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every Particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Also, a Description, as accurate as possible, of Property that has been Stolen; and a minute description of Stolen Horses, xcith every useful Information, fur the purpose of tracing and recovering them. MURDER, AND MALICIOUSLY SHOOTING OR STABBING On Monday night, the 16th instant, between twelve and one o'clock, John Horsford, valet to the Hon, and Rev. Charles Finch, on his return from Packington Hall to his Master's Re- dence, near the small Bridge, in Little Packington, was feloni- ously Shot at, by some person unknown, in company with three others: the ball passed through the crown of his hat, and the wadding set fire to a silk handkerchief in the down of his hat.— Whoever will give information that may lead to con- viction of the offender, shall receive Fifty Pounds Reward. on application to the said John Horsford, or James Freeth, police officer, Coleshill. ROBBERY FROM THE PERSON. Escaped, from the custody of the Constable of Keninghall ( at Wymondham). on his way to Norwich Castle, being charged with highway robbery, CHARLES MOORE, ot Baldwin, comuionlv known by the slang name of BRUNDELL MURE. He is a strong athletic man, about twenty- one years of age ( but has the appearance of being older;, nearly six feet high, dark full eyes, bristly dark hair, with a sullen and forbidden aspect, has little or no whiskers, rather stoops in his walk, has long legs, and particular long feet ( about fourteen inches) ; had on a drab fustian frock, two waistcoats, cord fustian trousers, split across the knee, all old hat, right and left half high- lows with two rows of nails on each side the soles and clate off the shoe on the right foot; he had a red and yellow handkerchief loose round his neck, with a checked muslin lilac coloured handkerchief beneath, and had locked on his left wrist a pair of police handcuffs. — Whoever will apprehend the said CHARLES MOORE, and deliver him to Edmund Bailey, constable of Keninghall, or to Mr. Gocher, police officer, Wymondham, or lodge him in any of His Majesty's Gaols, and give information as aforesaid, will receive a reward ami all reasonable expenses paid. On Saturday evening, the 21st instant, Mr. Thomas Comp- ton was stopped on the King's highway near Andover, Hants, and robbed of £ 116, in £ 5 and £ 10 Notes of Heath's Andover Bank, except one £ 5 of Brodie's Salisbury Bank and one £ 5 Bank of England Notes; also a Checque for £ 6. 6s., drawn on the Newbury Bank, Messrs Bunny and Slocock, by the Rev. Lance, of Netherton, in favour of Mr. John Wood- ward, of Andover. — By five or six Men, who arc supposed to have gone towards Portsmouth — Whoever will give informa- tion that may lead to conviction of the offenders, shall receive Twenty- five Pounds Reward, by applying to Mr. Lamb, Soli- citor, Andover; or Alfred Milsom, Mayor's officer, Newbury, Berks. On Saturday night, the 7th instant, or early the following morning, the Dwelling House of Mr. Tackle, at Bradford, Wilts, was broken and entered, and the following articles were stolen therefrom, o silk Waistcoats, two fancy Waist- coat Pieces, several silk Handkerchief's, three valuable Shawls, some plain ditto, pieces of Print, silk Dresses, a quantity of Ribbon, lace, Nett, Edging, common Prints, and other arti- cles.— Twenty Guineas Reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property : in- formation to be given to Mr. G. Rolf, high constable, Brad- ford, Wilts. On Saturday night, the 7th instant, the Dwelling- house of Mr. William Penn, in Dorking, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therefrom, viz.— Silver : Twelve Forks, four Sauce- ladles, ten Table- spoons, three pair of Sugar- tongs, two dozen of Tea- spoons, and eight Salt- spoons. A a quantity of Tea, some Linen, a piece ol home- made Ham, and other articles.— Ten Guineas Reward will be paid by the Dorking Association to any person who shall give such in- formation at the office of Messrs. Hart and Son, in Dorking, as shall be the means of convicting the offender or offenders, such reward to be paid on conviction by the Treasurer. HOUSE- BREAKING. On Wednesday night, the 25th inst., the Dwelling- house of Mr. Levesque, No. 16, Clifton- street, Finsbury, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen there from, viz.— A pair of Pistols, by ' Andrews,' with powder- flask ; four silver Tea- spoons— two of them nearly new plain, the other two odd spoons, one marked ' J. M. R.'; one Dessert spoon, ' D. L.': two Table- spoons; about six pounds weight of Hyson Tea, and sis pounds of black Tea; one olive- green old Great Coat; and 011c old black Coat.— Information to be given to James Hanley, constable, Worship- street Office. Between the hours of twelve o'clock on Monday night the 23d instant and four o'clock the next morning, the Dwelling- house of the Rev. Henry Boyce. of Edgware. was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom, viz.— Nine Sovereigns, two Half- sovereigns, 20s. in silver, some gold and silver Coins ( one a Jacobus), three silver Tea spoons, a do. Muffineer, an ivory Chinese Puzzle, twelve Table Knives and Forks with ivory handles, twenty- four of Dessert ditto ditto with ivory handles, a Table- cloth, an olive Great Coat double breasted, and a Dressing Coat of stout Petersham. On Monday night, the 23d instant, the premises of Mr. Palmer, No. 29, Great Hermitage- street, St. George, were en- tered, and the following articles stolen, viz.— Thirty yards of black Cotton, a remnant of Calico, thirty yards of cotton Sheeting, a piece of Canvas, a silk Waistcoat, and various other articles. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen, on the night of the 25th instant, or early the follow ing morning, out of a yard at Morley St. Botolph, in the county of Norfolk, a chestnut Gelding, aged four years old, near six- Teen hands and half high with white shin. and a mark down the near shoulder from six to eight inches long, two while hind feet nearly to the hocks. Application to be made to Mr. W. Barker, the owner, at Morley St. Botolph aforesaid ; or to Mr. John Long, Police Officer, Downham Market. A Reward of Five Pounds will be paid by Mr. Barker, on conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen, on Thursday night, the 26th instant, about eight o'clock, from the Door of Mr. Welch, Kingsland, a Brown Pony, about twelve or thirteen hands high, switch tail, rather lame, and goes wide. Stolen, between the 13th and 20th instant, from a Field, op- posite the House of William Fleet, Esq., in the parish of Sutton at Hone, adjoining the road leading from Dartford to Farningham, Twenty- three fat two- tooth Down Sheep, pitch- marked ' T. O.'— some on the right side and some on the left, but most on the rump. The property of Messrs. John and William Tasker, of Dartford, Kent.— Whoever will apprehend or cause to be apprehended the offender or offenders, shall on commitment for trial reccive Ten Pounds Reward ; anil a further Reward of Ten Pounds 011 conviction, by applying to the said Messrs. Tasker. — Information to be given to Thomas Broadley Fooks, Solicitor, Dartford ; or at Rose Cottage Police Station, Greenwich- road. On Wednesday morning, the 18th instant, between nine and ten o'clock, a Man hired of Messrs. Bottom, of the White Hart Inn, Newmarket, a Brown Mare, to ride to Cambridge, and not returning it is supposed he has stolen tiie same.— The Mare is five years old, thorough- bred, long cut tail, hind heels white, and star on the forehead : she was traced to the Birdbolt Inn, Cambridge, and from thence through Royston to Wade's Mill.— The said Man is about twenty years of age, light com- plexion, light hair, about five feet seven inches high, and has the appearance of a groom; had on a dark double- breasted great coat, dark ditto waistcoat, drab trousers, and Wellington boots.— Ten Pounds Reward will be paid by Messrs. Bottom, and also Ten Pounds by the Treasurer of the Newmarket Association, to any person or persons who will give information that may lead to conviction of the offender and recovery of the mare. The Man, who is suspected of stealing a Horse, from Little Wakering, Essex, on the 9th instant, stopped at the sign of the ' Windmill,' at Hanningfield, and told the landlord his name was CURTIS, and that his father was a farmer and jobber at Hull- bridge, and that he was going to Stock, about eleven miles off. He is not quite so tall as described in the former Report. The same man was seen in Writtle on the day pre- ceding that on which a Horse, belonging to Mrs. Barlow, was stolen from that place, and it has been ascertained that he passed through Blackmore, towards London, with both horses. Stolen, on Wednesday night, the 18th instant, from a stable belonging to Mr. Charles Page, at Brickleigh, near Tiverton, Devon, a bay cart Horse, rising nine years old, fifteen hands high, white face, three white feet, rough coat, and is in high condition ; it is supposed he is in the neighbourhood of Bristol. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the Horse, shall receive a Reward of Five Pounds, on application to Mr. Charles Page, aforesaid. Stolen, on Tuesday night, the 3rd instant, out of the Yard belonging to James King, of Effingham, Surrey, a Bay Horse, with black legs, and long tail, about fifteen hands high, be- tween the Cart and Nag kind, rising four years old, has been worked, rather low before, and when taken away, had one shoe off the off hind leg. Stolen, on Wednesday night, the 18th instant, or early the following morning, from a Hovel, situate in a Close, at Maid well, Northamptonshire, a Dark Brown Galloway, rising four years old, about fourteen and a half hands high, full of hair ( particularly on the legs), switch tail, and a small star 011 the forehead : the property of Mr. William Bradshaw, of Maidwcll, aforesaid.— Whoever will give information that may lead to conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive Twenty Pounds reward from Mr. Bradshaw, and Five Pounds from the Treasurer of the Rushton Association. Stolen, on Friday morning, the 13th instant, about nine o'clock, a thick Grey Mare, fifteen hands one inch and a half high, switch tail, a splint under the near fore leg, a wart on the hollow part of the hock, and a dent in the thick of the quarter. — She was Hired, from the Stables of Mr. Batley, in Grosve- nor- street, West Pimlico, by a Man, twenty- eight years of age, five feet nine inches high, light complexion, sandy whiskers, and wore a dark frock coat, drab kerseymere breeches, and boots with cloth tops : he stated he was going to Norwood. Information to be given to the said Mr. Batley. Stolen, on Saturday night, the 14th instant, from a Shed Lordship Farm, in the parish of Writtle, in the county of Fur- a Bay Horse, about hands high, black legs, hanging mane, and has a wart near the sheath : the prope. of Mrs. Elizabeth Barlow, who will pay Twenty Pounds Reward on conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the horse. Stolen or Strayed, on Wednesday night, the 1th instant, or early the following morning, from off the Forest, between Woodford and Wanstead, a Brown Mare, about fourteen hands high, dark legs, a mark on the middle of the back by a friction from the saddle, stands rather low in front, slight made, low in condition, aged, and seven months gone with foal.— If stolen, One Sovereign Reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders ; if strayed, any person restoring her will receive the same Reward, by applying to the owner, Simon Clarke, wheelwright, Woodford, Essex. Stolen or Strayed, on the night of the 5th ' instant, from London Fields. Hackney, a Black Horse, with star on the forehead, nearly three parts bred, has been fired in the fore legs, and lately blistered, about fourteen hands and a half high, with a switch tail, and the off fore foot is smaller than the near one; the property of Mr. Trindall, Cold Bath Lane, Hackney, to whom information is to be given. Stolen, on Monday night, the 9th instant, from a Yard, in the parish of Little Wakering, near Rochford, in the county of Essex, a Red Roan Gelding, four years old, fourteen hands and a half high, black legs, a little white on the off hind fetlock, and a little hair off' the near side ; the property of Mr. John Starnes Potter.— Supposed by a Man about five feet nine inches high, twenty- two years of age, of a fresh complexion, with dark hair and whiskers : he was dressed in an olive- coloured smock- frock, fustian jacket, large, cord breeches, dark leather buskins, and high shoes, and was traced through Southall- gate, towards London.— A Reward of Ten Pounds will be paid on conviction of the offender and recovery of the horse. Stolen, on Sunday night, the 8th instant, from a Fold on the land in the occupation of Mr. Hagger, Senior, in the parish of Great Bardfield, in the County of Essex, twenty- seven fat Sheep, between a Norfolk and a Down- breed, very black on the legs, marked on the near side ' P.' in black— one of them is very coarse in the horn, the others are Poles, the property of Henry Smith, of Great Bardfield Hall.— Ten Pounds Reward will be paid by the said Henry Smith, on conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the sheep. The sheep were traced seven miles on the London road to Dunmow Information to be given to S. Dodd, of Great Bardfield, Essex. Stolen, on Mondav morning, the 2nd instant, about eleven o'clock, from Mr. Jonas South, Livery Stable Keeper, Mason's- yard, Duke- street, Saint James'- square, a Dark Brown Mare about fourteen hands three inches nigh, has a mark from the collar on the near shoulder, and a switch tail. Also a Gig painted green, and lined with brown cloth, the cushions covered with same, Colling's patent boxes, has been recently painted : the Harness made quite plain, with covered buckles The felony was effected by a Man about thirty years of age, five feet eight inches high, fair complexion, sandy whiskers, and dressed in a drab great coat, and boots with cloth tops: had the appearance of a groom or coachman : he hired the Mare and Gig to go to Norwood. 2874 POLICE GAZETTE; Or, HUE AND CRY. Stolen, on Monday morning, the 2nd instant, from the Stable of Richard Deane, an agricultural labourer, at Park- lane, in the parish of West Wycombe, Bucks, a Brown Mare, nearly fourteen hands high, a dark mark down her back to her tail, rather goose- rumped, switch tail, a little cow- hocked, blind with both eyes— the near one quite closed the other open, white spot on the near side from the saddle, a slight blaze on the near nostril, thick ncck, and very long mane.— Supposed by JOHN FENNER, a native of Great Marlow. he is a short thick- set man, dark hair and eyes, of fresh colour, and known to be the associate of a Gang of Gypsies, who have been lurking about Lane End, very near the residence of Richard Deane, for the last three weeks, but have decamped since the mare was stolen. — Information to be given at Hatton Garden Office; or to Mr. Joseph Townsend, Wood End, near Great Marlow. Stolen or Strayed, from Mr. Hewlett's Farm, at Chingford, Essex, a Bay Horse, seven years old, with one white fore and two white hind feet, a blaze on the face, about fifteen hands one inch high, in rough condition, and had only one shoe on ; was last seen in the neighbourhood of Chigwell- row, on the Forest. Stolen, on Wednesday night, the 14th ult., from Husborne Crawley, Bedfordshire, a mixed Black Hackney Mare, six years old, about thirteen hands and a half high, a small white star on the forehead, marked ' W.' on the near side of the ncck, the mane inclined to lay on the near side, and trots wide of the in- quarters.— Any person giving information that may lead to conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive Five Pounds Reward from Mr. Stephen Barnwell, the owner. Stolen, on Friday night, the 23d ultimo, from the Stable of Mr. Richard De La Hunt, grocer, Bushey, Herts, a Brown Pony, about four years old, black legs, long tail, about eleven hands high, and the near hip out; a Brown Chaise Cart, on springs, nearly new, with a green Cushion ; also a set of brass trimmed Harness.— Five Pounds Reward will be paid by Mr. De La Hunt, on conviction of the offender or offenders and re- covery of the property. Stolen, on Wednesday night, the 14th ultimo, from a Field called The White Horse Close, in Husborne Crawley, Bedford- shire, a Bay Nag Mare, fourteen hands high, nine years old, half- bred, star on the forehead, the off eye injured and has a red circle round it, a spavin on the near hock, ami fired all round.— Whoever will give information that may lead to con- viction of the offender or offenders, shall receive Five Pounds Reward from Mr. Richard Clarke, the owner. On the 22d ultimo, a young man was detained at Banbury, with a Horse in his possession, supposed to have been stolen. He states his name to be JOHN JOHNSON, his residence at Thame, Oxford, and is bv trade a rough carpenter, about eighteen years of age, about five feet five inches high, fair complexion, light grey eyes, brown hair; wears a light great- coat, fustian shooting jacket, old cord trowsers, black hat, and ancle shoes. It is a bay Horse, aged, black legs, fifteen hands high, has been fired on both fore legs, lame on the off fore leg, a blemish on the hock of the near hind leg, switch tail, white saddle- marks on the back, and without shoes. The Horse is supposed to have been brought from the neighbourhood of Oxford or Thame. Information to be given to Mr. William tHompson, Constable, of Banbury. stolen, on Saturday afternoon, the 17th ultimo, between five o'clock, from a Field, near Winchester, called Painter's Field,' a Dark Brown Gelding Pony, with light muzzle, rather yellow under the brisket and belly and between the legs, about thirteen hands high, five years old, black legs, roush and long in his coat, no white about him except a slight white mark round the body from the pressure of the girths, and ong square cut tail.— Whoever will give information that may lead to conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the pony, shall receive Three Guineas Reward, on applica- tion to Mr. Spooner, Veterinary Surgeon, Winchester. Stolen, on Wednesday night, the 31st ultimo, from a Stable, belonging to Thos. Sefton, at Little Budworth, in the county of Chester, a Black Stallion Horse, ot the wagon kind, about fifteen hands high, long mane and tail, white hind legs, a blood spavin on the off hock, a white spot on tile fore leg above the hoof, and a large blaze down the lace. Also a Head- collar and Chain.— Whoever will give information that may lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders, to Mr. Munday, police officer, Middlewich, or to the said Mr. Sefton, shall re- ceive Five Pounds Reward. Stolen or Strayed, from a Field, at Litchurch, near Derby, on Monday night, the 19th ultimo, or early tile following morn- ing, a Bay Gelding, with black legs, switch tail, no while about Inm, has a speck on the near knee from having been down, fifteen hands and a half high, six years old, and was withbut shoes.— If stolen, any person giving information that may lead to conviction ot the offender or offenders, shall receive Ten Pounds Reward, by applying to Mr. Joseph Yeomans, Corn Market, Derby; or at the Policc Office, Derby. Stolen or Strayed, but supposed to be Stolen, on Friday night last, the 10th • ultimo, from a Meadow on the Warrage Farm, in the parish of Ragland, near Monmouth, a Yellow- Pony Mare, about thirteen hands high, supposed to be in foal, the property of Mr. David Davies, farmer. The said Pony is rising five years old, has a long rough tail, is low in the back, and rough in the coat, marked with crupper strap on her crup, has two white hind legs, nearly half- way tip between her fetlocks and her hough joints, a white stripe down her forehead, rather bearing to the off- side, and her nice turning to both sides from about half her neck forward.— If Strayed, any Person giving information where she may be found shall be handsomely rewarded for their trouble, and if Stolen, a Reward of Five Pounds will he paid on conviction of the offender or offenders.— Application to be made to Mr. Davies, Warrage Farm, or William Fuller, Police officer, Monmouth. Found, supposed to be stolen, on Saturday night, the 10TH ultimo, in the parish of Loughton, in the county of Essex, a Dark Chesnut Mare, aged, about fifteen hands high, a star, and very lopped ears.— Information to he given to Thomas Jaques, Horse Patrol Station, No. 57, Loughton, essex. Found Straying ( supposed to be Stolen), on Tuesday, the 13th ultimo, on the Berry Estate, in the parish of Doynton, Gloucester, a strong bony Black Gelding Hackney Horse, about six years old, nearly fourteen hands high, star in the forehead, white nose, off feet white to the fetlocks, near hind foot white above the fetlock, switch tail, a spot of hair on the near side rubbed oft', and grey hairs under the saddle.— Application to he made to Mr. John Amer, Doynton, aforesaid ; or to Samuel Ashley, of Wick and Abson, near Bath. Stolen, on Wednesday night, the 28th ultimo, from the House Close of Mr. G. Cook, of Street- Fields, near Lutter- worth, a Black Cart Horse, rising five years old, about sixteen hands high, white blaze down the face, and the hind legs white nearly half- way to the hocks. He was traced along the Wat- ling- street Road as far as the turn to Willey, and appears to have been driven.— Whoever will give information that may lead to convictibh of the offender or offenders, shall receive Forty Guineas Reward: Twenty Guineas from the said Mr. Cook, and also Twenty Guineas from Mr. John Francis, Treasurer of the Churchover Association for the Prosecution of Felons. Stolen or Strayed, on Sunday, the 25th ultimo, from out of a Close in the Lordship of Stanford, in the County of North- ampton, in the occupation of Mr. W. Gaudern, of South- Kil- worth, four ill- calved Heifers; all of them have had a Calf each of Stirks ; two are nearly all red, and the two others red and white.— If Stolen, Ten Guineas Reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders; and if strayed, whoever will bring the said Beast, shall be handsomely rewarded, and have all reasonable expenses paid, on application to Mr. W. Gaudern, aforesaid. Stolen or Strayed, late on Sunday night, the 1st instant, oi early the following morning, from a field in the parish of Ash- church, near Tewkesbury, a bay mare Pony, rising four years old, stands thirteen hands one inch high, with a star in the forehead, cut tail, with a long scar on the oft' thigh ; when stolen had no shoes on, a slight saddle- mark near the shoulder- bone, on the near side. If stolen, a Reward of five Guineas will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders; il strayed, all reasonable expenses paid, on application to Mr. Richard Barnes, Rose and Crown Inn, near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. lArCenY. Absconded, from the employment of Mr. George Walker, Tailor and Draper, of Newport, Salop, JOSEPH HODSON, stealing and taking with him one pair of Trowsers, one Waist- coat, and other articles. He is about twenty- one years of age, stands about five feet five inches high, light complexion, with dark flaxen hair, and rather inclined to be bald ; had on when he left an invisible green surtout, lined with silk serge, a double breasted Petersham waistcoat, and light- coloured trowsers, and blucher boots. JOSEPH WATKIN, alias ROCK, who has also absconded, is suspected of having received the said articles, knowing them to have been stolen : he stands about five feet eight Inches high, is broad set, has dark hair, blue eyes, is blind of the right eye; was dressed in a white smock truck, red waistcoat, baragan jacket and trowsers, water- tight boots, and black hat; is a navigator, and is supposed to he in the neighbourhood of Madeley. or Rine Hill, Staffordshire. Who- ever will give such information as will lead to the conviction of the said offenders, to William Sillitoe, Constable of Newport, or lodge them in any of his Majesty's Gaols, shall, upon such conviction, receive Two Guineas Reward from the said George Walker. On the 24th ultimo, JOSEPH WATSON, late Clerk to Messrs. Stolen, on Saturday, the 7th instant, about one o'clock, from the House of Mrs. Reed, No. 12, Cadogan- place, Chelsea, viz. — A plain light- blue body Coat, with Naval Buttons ; a dress Coat, red cuffs and collar, with gold lace ; and a cocked Hat. — By two Men, having the appearance of Jews, who called at the house to inquire if there were any old clothes to dispose of: one of the men is young, about five feet ten inches high, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in a black coat, buff waistcoat, and fawn- coloured trousers, and said his name was SOLOMAN, and resided at Kensington : the other, an old man, about six feet high, sickly- looking, dressed in an old frock coat, trousers, and boots, and a very old hat with crape. On Monday evening, the 2nd instant, a Boy named JOHN ELLIOTT, belonging to the Schooner ' Navarino,' of Lynn, now lying at Harrison's Wharf, broke into the State- room, and took from a tin box five Bank Notes, ten Sovereigns, and £ 10 in Silver; the property and monies of William Playford, the master, with which he decamped. — lie belongs to Lynn, is about fourteen or fifteen years of age, about five feet high, of dark complexion hair and eyes, and rather bow- legged ; was dressed, when he left the vessel, in an old dark frock, blue cloth cap, and black trousers. Absconded, from the employment of Mr. James Houghton, Oil Merchant, Bartholomew Close, London, HENRY SER- GEANT, stealing and taking with him a considerable Sum of Money, in gold, the monies of his employer.— He is about five Icet seven or eight inches high, rather slight made, twenty- one years of" age but appears not to be more than seventeen or eighteen, walks erect with a quick step, fair complexion, dark hair and generally worn long, face slightly freckled, and his nose rather turned sideways at the point; usually dresses in a dark green coat, dark trousers, and laced shoes.— Whoever will give such information that may lead to conviction of the said offender, to Daniel Forrester, at the Mansion House, or lodge him in any of His Majesty's Gaols, shall, upon such conviction , receive Fifty Pounds Reward. Stolen, some time between the 22d and 24th instant, from Saint Matthew's Chapel, Denmark Hill, Camberwell, the fol- lowing property, viz.— A crimson Cloth from the pulpit, a ditto ditto from the Clerk's desk, three branch brass Candlesticks; a red morocco Bible, with gilt edges, the name ' Sir John Key' on the board ; a ditto Prayer- book, same mark; a Bible, the name ' Capt. Young' on the boards; and a silk Umbrella.— The felony is supposed to have been effected by means of false keys. Escaped, on Thursday morning, the 26th instant, from His Majesty's Dock Yard, Chatham, JOHN WILLIS, who was convicted at the Old Bailey, 5th Sept. 1833, of housebreaking, and sentenced to transportation for life; previous to the com- mencement of which he was imprisoned twelve months in the House of Correction.— He was born at Nottingham, has sandy hair and eyebrows, dark grey eyes, long nose, common mouth, fresh complexion, long visage, stout made, a small scar under tile right eye, a large mole on the hack of the right arm, and a scar on the left knee, lie is a single man, can both read and write, by trade a jeweller, and lived last with his parents at Uxbridge, Middlesex. He had on a white Guernsey- frock marked on the inside with a broad- arrow, a canvas banyan and trousers, which had been worn in mixing lime, dark mixed- grey worsted stockings with light- coloured rings round them, nailed shoes laccd- up, and a labourer's cap on his head. Absconded, on Wednesday, the 11th instant, a Lad, named WILLIAM MATTHEW DARGAN, having previously written the name of his employer on a Checque which he bad improperly obtained, whereby he obtained of Messrs. Dixon and Co., Bankers, Chancery- lane, fifty Sovereigns and eighteen Shillings : he is about seventeen years of age, stands five feet three or four inches high, is thin, Ion* pale face, high check bones, grey eyes and light hair : he wore at the time he was last seen, a blue round" jacket, and shabby about the feet.— Five Pounds Reward will be paid on his apprehension. Escaped from the Cage at REigate, Surrey, JOSEPH LAY, a prisoner, under committal to Horsemonger lane Gaol, for stealing Ducks: he is about thirty- nine years of age, five l'eet seven inches and a half high, br iwn hair, grey eyes, light com- plexion, and is a gardener by trade ; dressed in a long dark- green frock coat, black waistcoat, corded trousers, black hat, and a pair of laced ancle boots. The said prisoner was tried at Newington Sessions in January 1835, for sheep stealing, and was acquitted : he has a brother living at No. 29, Cromer- street, Brunswick- square. Escaped, on Monday, the 9th instant, from the Kent Lunatic Asylum, Barming Heath, near Maidstone, Kent, RICHARD DUTTON, a Yorkshireman, twenty- six years of age, five feet six inches high, dark - complexion, dark hair and eyes, and round visage; dressed in a grey jacket, grey waistcoat, and grey trousers, with fur cap, the clothing marked inside ' Kent Lunatic Asylum ': he is a convict, from Maidstone Gaol, for horse- stealing.— Information to be given at the Police Station, Greenwich. On Wednesday evening, Ihe 21st ultimo, THOMAS COL- LEY alias WILLIAMS, who had been committed the previous day, to take his trial at the next General Quarter Sessions of the Pcace for the county of Stafford, on a charge of Felony, Escaped from the custody of Charles Burgess, of Tunstall, in the parish of Wolstanton, in the county ol Stafford, constable. — he is about five feet eight inches and a half high, has round features, dark complexion, brown eyes, large eyebrows which meet together, and his hands covered with small smooth warts; had on a round baragan jacket, light waistcoat, and black cloth trousers.— Whoever will apprehend and deliver the said THO- MAS COLLEY to Charles Burgess, aforesaid, shall receive a Reward of One Guinea and all reasonable expenses. Escaped, on Thursday morning, the 25th Dec., from Ches- ter Castle, two Men, of the following description, being both under transportation for life, with previous imprisonment and hard labour, viz.— CHARLES WHITELEY, eighteen years of age, five feet seven inches and three- quarters high, slender make, oval visage, sallow complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, born at Rochdale in Lancashire, has a mole on the left eyebrow, one on his nose, one on the jaw, one on the right tem- ple, a seal below point of the left elbow and two others on the arm, a cut on the knuckle of first finger of left hand, several small inoles above right elbow, a red mark above the point of the elbow, a seal on the knuckle and on first joint of thumb, a large scar from the wrist downwards, a cut inside first joint of second finger, and an ivory- turner by trade. — CHARLES WINTERBOTTOM alias HOSKA ALLWOOD, nineteen years of age, five feet six inches high, stout made, grey eyes, brown hair, broad visage, a large mole under the left eye, a small scar over outer corner of right eyebrow, a cut on both lips, lour blue spots and two marks between the thumb and first finger of left hand, and by trade a silk weaver.— A Reward of Five Pounds will be paid, on the apprehension of each of them, on application to Mr. John Dunston, Constable of Chester Castle, aforesaid. Stolen, on Tuesday afternoon, the 24th instant, about half- past two o'clock, from the person of a Gentleman, whilst stand- ing on the top of the flight of steps of the Duke of York's Pillar, a gold Watch, maker's name ' Roskill, Liverpool, 1812', capped and jewelled, white face, Roman figures, gold hands, double- case, going on hinges; attached to a purple Ribbon two gold Seals, both with red cornelian stones— the larger one with arms, three crescents and a fesse ermine crest, a crescent with a star between the points ; the other a note seal, with the arms, a lion rampant between three amulets : a gold King and a small gold Key ; also three or four small cabinet Keys.— A Reward of Five Guineas will be paid, on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property.— Informa- tion to be given to James Ellis, at Bow- street Office. II.', and seven Sovereigns.— The felony is supposed to have been effected by means of skeleton keys, during the absence of the family. Stolen, on Thursday morning, the 20th instant, about eleven o'clock, from No. 10, Edward- street, Hampstead- road, a silver Watch, maker's name ' Riddle, Froxford '; with a purple and orange ribbon attached, and two small gold studs : the property of Mary Bussell.— The felony was effected by entering at the area gate and then the kitchen window. Stolen, on Friday afternoon, the 27th instant, between two and three o'clock, from the House of Mr. C. Barwcll, No. 39, Dorset- square, the following articles, viz — Silver: a Tea- pot, a Mustard- pot ( crest, a Lion with a saw in his fore paw), four Tea- spoons, three Dessert- forks, and a Butter- knife with crest a Griffin.— The felony was effected by the area gate and kitchen door being left open while the servants were at dinner. Stolen, on Wednesday night, the 25th instant, between six and eight o'clock, from the Workshop of Mr. H. Ford, Nor- folk- street, New- cut, the following Carpenters' Tools, viz.— Two trying Planes marked ' W. F., three smoothing Planes, two jack Planes, three hand Saws, three Squares, two Ham- mers, six Chisels, four Gouges, a Spoke- shave, two pair of Compasses, two Gauges, two Screw- drivers, and some other small Tools.— The felony was effected by means Of skeleton keys during the absence of the workmen. Stolen, on Thursday night, the 20th instant, between six and seven o'clock, from the back Garden of Mrs. Beard, No. 3, Bath- place, Addington- squarc, Camberwcll, two linen Shifts marked ' Jackson ', a calico ditto M. C.', a ditto ditto ' S. B.', and a ditto ditto no mark. Stolen, on Sunday morning, the 22d instant, about half- past one o'clock, from the person of Mr. Wilson, No. 5, Stockwell- place, Clapham- road, a gold Watch and Seal, maker's name, ' French, Sweeting's- alley, Cornhill,' the Seal was attached to the watch by a black ribbon, and had the letter ' W.' engraved on the stone.— The felony was committed by a young Woman, tall and good- looking, having a Roman nose, and respectably attired, who accosted Mr. Wilson near the Fishmongers' Alms- houses, Newington, and upon being told to go about her business, she immediately ran away, and Mr. Wilson missed his watch. Stolen, on Sunday, the 22d instant, between twelve o'clock at noon and eight o'clock in the evening, from the Warehouse of Messrs. John and Sidney Smith, No. 3, King- street, Cheap- side, and No. 31, Ironmonger- lane, the following Pieces of Silk Waistcoatings, viz.— 8 pieces of diamond Terry Valoures, 2 ditto diamond Valoures, 40 ditto pin- spot and dice Silks, 7 ditto spot cord Silks, 12 ditto quilted Silks, 2 ditto green figured Silks, and 1 ditto black silk Serge.— Whoever will give such information to Mr. Theobald, Marshal, at the Police Office, Guildhall, as will lead to the apprehension and convic- tion of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, shall receivc One Hundred Pounds Reward.
