Containing the Substance of all Informations teceived in Cases of Felonies, and Misdemeanors of an aggravated nature, and against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputed Thieves and Offenders escaped from. Custody, with the time, the place, and every particular circumstance marking the Offence. The Names of Persons charged, who are known but not in Custody, and of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and every other mark of identity that can be described. The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every other particular which may lead to their Apprehension. The Names of all Persons brought before the Magistrates, charged with any of the Offences mentioned, and whether committed for Trial, Re- examination, or kow otherwise disposed of. Also a Description of Property that has been Stolen, and particularly of Stolen Ilorscs, with as much particularity as can be given, with every circumstance that may be useful for the purpose of Tracing and Recovering it. On Sunday night, the 3rd ultimo, about a quarter past twelve o'clock, a Police Constable of the K Division, was, without any provocation, stabbed under the right eye and left arm with a knife, whilst on duty, by a man named JOHN SULLIVAN, who has been in custody of the Police several times: he is about *> five feet five inches high, stout made, twenty years of age, full face, fair complexion, dressed in a fustian jacket, straw hat, and white duck trousers. He has since left his lodgings.— Informa- tion to be given at the Police Office, Great Scotland Yard, or at the Police Station, Mile End Road. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Whereas it hath been humbly represented unto the King, That, on Thursday, the 7th day of November last, some evil- disposed person or persons did wilfully and maliciously set Fire to a Straw Stack, in the Farm- yard of Mr. William Curtis, situate in Mill- End, in Chatteris, in the Isle of Ely and County of Cambridge, by which a Barn, two Hovels, two Wheat Stacks, one Hay Stack, and other Property, were totally destroyed ; His Majesty, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the persons concerned in setting fire to the said property, hath been pleased to promise His most gracious Pardon to any one of them ( except the person who actually set fire to the same) who shall discover and give evidence against his Accom- plice or Accomplices therein, so that he she or they may be apprehended and convicted thereof: And, as a further encouragement, a Reward of One Hun- dred Founds will be given to any person ( except as aforesaid) who shall discover the actual offender or offenders, so that he she or they may be apprehended and convicted of the said offence.— Fifty Pounds of such Reward will be paid by the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury ; and Fifty Pounds by Mr. Joseph Saberton Saber- ton, Treasurer of the Chatteris Watch Committee. Informa- tion to be given at the Office of Mr. John Sewcll, Solicitor, Chatteris, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire. On Monday morning, the 9th instant, a Haum Rick, at Blunham Rectory, was wilfully set on Fire and consumed.— Twenty Pounds Reward will be paid to any person who will give such information that the offender or offenders may be committed for trial, and a further Reward of Thirty Pounds on conviction, by applying to the Rev. Mr. Mountain, at Blun- ham Rectory, near Bedford. ROBBERY FROM THE FERSON. On Wednesday evening, the 18th instant, about seven o'clock, Hannah Caunsell was knocked down, in Snow's- fields, by a tall Man, dressed in a fustian jacket, and robbed of the following articles, viz.— A puce merino Gown, a lilac cotton ditto, a black Veil, a Thibet Shawl, a pair of lasting Shoes with double soles, a pair of black cotton Stockings, several white Aprons, a chequered silk Handkerchief, a coloured muslin ditto, and several other articles. On Thursday night, the 19th instant, about half- past eight o'clock, as Mr. Cannon, Churchwarden of Saint Mary, White- chapel. was proceeding along Houndsditch, City, he was attack- ed bv three well- dressed Men— one, a tall man", who seized him bv the collar, and the other two kicked and beat him with a bludgeon : when down an attempt was made to draw his watch from his fob, the chain of which broke— which, with three gold Seals and a Key, were stolen. F.'; a small silver Tea- caddy Spoon, shell form : two very old plain gold Rings, and a quantity of Books : also thirty- five Sovereigns. On Wednesday morning, the 18th instant, between one and seven o'clock, the Dwelling- house of Mr. William Harriss, No. 8, Grove- hill, Camberwell- grove, was entered, by getting over the garden- wall and boring the panel of the back door with a large gimlet, and the following articles were stolen Uiere- lrom, viz.— Silver : two Tea spoons, four Salt- spoons, a pair of Sugar- tongs, and a Mustard- spoon, with crest, a hand and dart; anil a Fruit- knife; eighteen silver Dessert- knives ; eighteen do. Dessert- forks, maker's name ' Lunn'; a silver Pencil- case, engraved ' W. T. to W. R. II.'; and two Pen- knives, maker's name ' Lunn.' Also, a dark olive- green Great Coat, a dark ditto Boy's ditto; a large size dark brown silk Umbrella, with a round brown wood knob for handle ; one smaller ditto, with a white ivory handle ; a pair of Wellington Boots, with ' W. Harriss, Esq.' written on the inside lining; a Hat nearly new, about lOlbs. of black Tea, a bottle of Cayenne Pepper; one Guinea, a Sovereign, and Is. 6d. in Silver. 1 HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. The two Horses advertised in the Hue and Cry of the 18th inst., as having been stolen from Marlow, were found the next day turned loose about nine miles off; not having been broken thp thieves were unable to get them farther. Stolen on Monday night the 16th inst., or early the following morning, from Mrs. Ambrose Wales' Farm, Cavendish, near Clare, in the County of Suffolk, a Chesnut Gelding, nine years old, white stripe down his face, long tail, two white legs behind, small in the bone, about fifteen hands high. Whoever will give information of the offenders so that tliey may be brought to justice, shall on conviction, receive Five Pounds Reward, by applying to Mrs. Ambrose of Cavendish, aforesaid. Stolen or Strayed, on Wednesday night, the 18th instant, or early the following morning, from a Field at Chalk Farm, a Bay Filly, three years ol< l, long tail cut square at the extremity, HOUSE- BREAKING. Stolen, between the hours of nine o'clock in the morning and six o'clock in the evening of Tuesday, the 17th instant, from the House of Mr. James White, No. IX, Underwood Street, Mile End New Town, the following articles, viz.— A " brown stuff Frock, quite new ; a muslin Frock, three Pillow- cases, a large Veil, two Waistcoats ( one white the other figured), a pair of Trousers, two Shawls, and three nett Caps.— The entrance was effected by mc- ns .. skeleton keys, during the absence of the family. On Wednesday night, the 18th instant, about ten o'clock, a pane of glass in the shop window of Mr. Brookman, No. 34, Little Queen- street, was cut, and the following articles were stolen therefrom, viz.— A gold chased Eye- glass, three grey enamelled Studs, three Turquoises with box and glass for hair, three engine- turned gold Studs, a square emerald Pin with a chain attached to a pearl Pin, a pair of engine- turned lady's gold Watch- hooks, a pair of paste Knee- buckles, and various other articles. On Thursday night, the 19th instant, the House of Mrs. Farmer, No. 62, Prescott- street, Goodman's- fields, Minories, was entered, from the Tenter- ground, by the back parlour win- dow, and the following articles were stolen therefrom, viz.— An P O L I C E GAZETTE; Oi l , H U E A N D CRY. 2495 and a scar on the off hind fetlock.— Information to be given to , Mr. W. Bowden, the owner, Chalk Farm Tavern ; or at the Police- stations, Albany- street, regent's- park, or hampstead. On Thursday evening, the 19th instant, between seven and eight o'clock, " the Stable Door of A. E. Reynolds, of Broad Green, Croydon, Surrey, was found open, and a short set Bay Cob, aboutfourteen bands high, with a white face, white hind legs, a small saddle mark on the near side, and a short black tail, was Stolen therefrom.— Five Guineas Reward will be paid by Mr. Reynolds aforesaid, upon recovery of the horse and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen or Straved, on Thursday morning, the 19th instant, between nine and ten o'clock, from the Three Mills, West Ham, a Horse and Cart: name on the Cart ' Francis Rushbrook, Hackney : the Horse is fourteen hands high, chesnut, a white face, and white hind legs. A Man named STEPHEN BURTON, late of Newbury Berks, stands charged with Felony. He is a native of Hiclere, Hants, is about thirty years of age, five feet six inches high, wears a brown round frock, high shoes, and leather gaiters over the knee, stoops in his walk, and his nose is particularly large and turning to one side. Whoever will apprehend the said STEPHEN BURTON, shall receive Two Guineas Reward by applying to mr. Pocock, of Grecnham Farm, or to Alfred Milsom, Beadle of the Borough of Newbury. SAMUEL PINKNEY, apprentice to Messrs. James Ed- wards and Son, cordwainers, Angel- row, Nottingham, absconded on the 3rd instant, having stolen a large quantity of Shoes, leather, and other articles their property. He is about twenty years of age, five feet six inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, grcv eyes, is rather pitted with the small- pox. He was dressed in a brown coat, and black trowsers; it is suspected that he is now in the neighbourhood of Northampton. Absconded, from the service of Mr. James Olivine, Coke and Coal Dealer, No. 9, Cumberland- market, Regent's- park, HENRY DUFFEY, stealing and taking with him Fifteen Shillings, the monies of his master.— He is about nineteen years of age, five feet three inches high, dark complexion, and pitted with the small- pox; he was dressed in a black plush waistcoat with sleeves, and stout canvas trousers; has been a sailor, and has a star pricked on one hand and an anchor on the other. ISAAC VIRAKANER absconded lately from the service of Mr. Levi Harris, of Sheffield, with a Stock of Goods, value £ 30, consisting of Silks, a silver Watch, a silver Guard- chain, a pair of dead gold Ear- rings, two pair of coral Ear- rings, four pair of cornelian and a variety of gold ditto ; a number of small gold Seals, fancy gold Rings, Pins, and brooches.— He is about five feet eight inches high, a red face, light flaxen hair, and a large head; had on a brown coat, black double- breasted waistcoat, Oxford- grey trousers, and black stuff hat. He carried the goods in an oil- skin cloth tied with black ribbon ; a small box with brass corners and a piece of brass on the top, the ring broke off, and inside lined with red velvet.— Five Pounds lteward, on the apprehension of the said offender, will be paid by Messrs. New- stadt and Barnett, Benett's- hill, Birmingham. On Thursday afternoon, the 19th instant, Mr. Guss, of Saint Helen's Place, Bishopsgate, was attending an Auction, in Cross- street, Islington, and entrusted a Porter named COBB ( residing at No. C, Old- street, Saint Luke), with a Checque for £ 70, on Messrs. Martin and Co., Bankers, Bond- street, which he got cashed, and has Absconded with the amount.— He is - 13 years of age, five feet five inches high, and dark complexion ; he was dressed in a black coat and trousers, white apron, and a black leather cap. Stolen, on Thursday morning, the 19th instant, about nine o'clock, from the House of Mr. Newman, No. 18, Gower's- walk, Whitechapel, the following articles, viz.— A Tea- board, with figures in the centre; two Pictures, in wainscoat frames with gilt edges ( one representing a Gentleman's Servant, with an inscription ' In place'; and the other a Woman with a stick in her hand) : also a red Whittle ; a jean Coattee, which had been washed ; a large Tobacco- pipe, with a China bowl, the bowl however was dropped near the house and broke.— Supposed by a Man in a fustian dress, who was seen running towards Lainbeth- strect, with a large bundle tied in a red whittle.
