The undersigned Members of the Christian School Society deem it necessary to state that they have been advised, by a Most Noble Member of the House of Lords, that they do not come within the meaning of the Act for suppressing Monastic or Religious Orders in the United Kingdom, inasmuch as they are a Society of Laymen only, and not subject to any foreign superior; but for greater security they are induced to have their names registered; at the same time they request the clerk of the peace will put this their remark upon record.
