I do declare the above to be a true statement, as required by the said Act, and hereby require the Clerk of the Peace for the county of Northumberland to preserve and register the same among the records of the said county. I HAVE the honour to acquaint you, that no Jesuit or member of a religious order residing in the city and county of Norwich has been registered at my office, in pursuance of the provisions of the tenth of His present Majesty; but I have to add, that at the last quarter sessions a house in the parish of St. Giles in this city was registered as a Catholic chapel, or place of religious worship for Roman Catholics; and that John Leadbitter was then registered as the priest of the said chapel. This is a newly- erected chapel, and it is generally understood to be appropriated to that class of Catholics called Jesuits. I am, Sir, your obedient servant, W. Simpson, Clerk of the Peace.
